6: Not our rival. Beat Penn State.
I'm not worried about Penn State. Plus the Predator will be back and break their D in half.
If the Predator will break their D in half, imagine what he'll do to their O! ;-)
In the poll era (since 1936), OSU is by far the class of the B1G:
National Titles: OSU 8, UM 3
B1G Titles: OSU 34, UM 27
Head-to-head: OSU 43, UM 36
Major Bowls (New Year's Six): OSU 20-15, UM 10-16
Chase had 4 sacks against Wiskys O line! This PSU O line is no where near that.
Oooppps... O Line... I obviously didn't have my coffee yet when I typed that.
Watch them shit their white pants when they drop him to LB on 3rd and short

PSU has Suspect Pass Defense? LOL. OK. Its ranked 84th in the country and they havent even faced a Heisman Trophy QB candidate this year.
I was thinking to myself... Suspect? Pretty sure they're not suspect, I do believe they've reached the category of flat-out exposed...
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Make sure you have Parsons taken care of and we should be good.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
So far Myers has been getting that 2nd level block on the mike. Not sure if parsons is mlb or not , but we’ve been handling stud mlbs pretty well this year.
Imagine having your pass defense become exposed against TTUN and then every exploits it afterwards. Even with their W in that game it's still gotta hurt.
agreed. and i think the lions #1 rush defense is going to be severely tested this week too.
As long as we mix up the play calls. Agreed.
Can you say Chris Olave..like at least twice in their end zone!!
Regarding their rushing defense--that's solid no matter who you play, but they also haven't faced anyone in the same stratosphere as OSU's rushing attack. Buffalo has been the highest ranked rushing attack they played (ranked 17th), but also Buffalo plays teams like Kent State every week. The highest ranked Big Ten rushing team they've faced was Minnesota (ranked 43--182 ypg). Ohio State is 4th in the nation in rushing, just behind the three service academies.
Hopefully the dual threat nature of Fields, combined with an aggressive passing attack will open things up for JK similar to the Wisconsin game.
I don't know, my heart says this of course will be a hard-fought game, but honestly, my brain, when I look at these two teams, doesn't see a close one.
Agreed, paper tiger. Especially w Chase Young coming back.
Also didn't realize the stat that they have played 1 score games against all teams they played that currently have a winning record. Just don't see how this is close...
Our stats are skewed for 2 reasons:
1) I dont think there has been one game that our starters played to the final whistle.
2) Even bigger, we've been showing nothing but vanilla on offense and defense on purpose for a while now.
Yeah, it's hard to get a good read for exactly what this team COULD do to another team simply because our starters are gone. Even Chugs finished out the Wisconsin game and I think JK played one series in the 4th quarter.
Like your #2 point, BucksHave. They've kept everything pretty straight forward--with a couple notable exceptions. Day & Co specifically planned Field's fake sprint out/pass to Victor vs MSU's coverage, and planned that beautiful onside kick to exploit Maryland's kick coverage. This coaching staff has proven to be flat-out lethal in game planning and putting in plays that make opponents look silly. Looking forward to seeing what they pull out of their hat this weekend.

I seem to remember Wisconsin having the #1 defense when we played them...our rushing totals worked out there. I'm amped and nervous. I give PSU respect. I was disappointed in our play last week and it's good if they feel that way too. I think they will come out hot and loaded. Go Bucks!!
It's gotta be hard to get amped for an opponent like Rutgers. I have no doubt that the team will be focused and fired up for PSU.

I agree, pound the rock and that 2nd half won’t be very competitive hopefully as we wear them down.
Many of their fans continue to not rebuke a man that shielded a pedophile.
Maybe this goes under 10 things to hate.
I said it before and I'll say it again psu should've been kicked out the big10 and never allowed to field a football team for atleast a decade because of Sandusky. I hate psu and actively root against them for what happened to those young boys.
Ive repeatedly said it, B10 got the wrong school. Especially since now RU and MD in conference.
We should have gotten Pitt.
I hear ya, Dillon G. The thing that amazes me most on the subject is that they keep wanting everyone else to "move on" from those dark days - but then they keep wanting to do things like putting the Paterno statues, etc., back up.
Go figure -
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
Careful Dillon, OSU is continuing to deal with its own scandal that is unfortunately much bigger in scale.
If Ohio State covers up a pedophile, a sharp rebuke from me is an understatement. Don’t tell me to be careful.
Don't think it is so much OSU covering things up as it is the people who were involved continually denying it and hoping it will go away.
Sounds a lot like a cover up?
I guess that is true...but those individuals no longer are at OSU and, of course, are denying everything.
As bad as hiding a crime, falsely accusing one of a crime is just as bad.
When Fields starts hitting Hill, Victor, Olave, Wilson etc. for first downs the run defense will loosen up quickly. I think Dobbins is rested and has a breakout day... maybe 150-200 all by himself.
I thought the O game plan for Rutgers was pretty heavy on throwing the ball with Fields playing. Perhaps tune up for this Saturday.
Agreed, attempted 19 passes in basically two quarters of work, and only attempted three rushes (his lowest of the year)
Definitely looked like they were working on the intermediate/deep passing game vs Rutgers. Gotta get the rifle sighted-in...cat and weasel season just (re)opened.
Cardale was 12-gauge. So what's Fields? Barrett 50 Cal? (No pun intended)

I think the starters haven't played a full game yet. For all practical purposes, the starters have played "only" 5 total games. On one hand, it keeps the little nagging injuries to a minimum. On the other hand, if that game comes down to the 4th quarter, will the lack of playing a full game come back to haunt us?
I don't think it's gonna happen but how glorious would it be to see the 2nd team come in half way through the 3rd quarter or so. LOL
I don't think we'll see the 2nd/3rd team unless we're up by 42 or more, which is not likely to happen. Penn State isn't a great team, but they are dangerous, and Day knows that. He won't be taking any chances.
On the other hand, if that game comes down to the 4th quarter, will the lack of playing a full game come back to haunt us?
I think not. Two reasons:
1 players do wear down as the season rolls, especially freshmen who’ve never played such a long season. We’ll be fresh.
2 Like the 9 man rotation Larry Johnson has been doing for years , Day is giving 2’s PT all over the field with little drop off. And I’m not talking about the 3’s playing v Rutgers.
Between our depth, talent, and coaching , man power just isn’t gonna be an issue unless we go triple OT v Clemson.
Nervous but optimistic!!
Do all Penn State players play football with pacifiers in their mouths?

I hope Coach Day, in typical fashion, opens up fast and continues to curbstomp the convicts for 60 minutes. #NoMercy
Look at all of our offensive and defensive weapons. We should be at full strength on both sides of the ball, including the O-line and D-line.
I'm not saying it's gonna be a cakewalk, but the Buckeyes should wipe the floor with State Penn.
"Y'all got a real purty mouth" - Dabo Swinny • BuckeyeJuggernaut.com
We should be at full strength on both sides of the ball, including the O-line and D-line.
It's crazy to think that because this team has been so good, they've been able to rest guys mid-season because they just haven't needed them, knowing they had what is hopefully a 5 game stretch that will undoubtedly be the toughest in the nation. Oh...and that's not even including CYs month off. If he had any nagging injuries, you know he's fresh. Can't wait.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
The team has had these 2 games circled for months. Knowing they had to get here healthy and undefeated to have a shot at their ultimate goals. I still feel like there are things on both sides of the ball that we haven't even seen yet because they haven't had to show it. Hamler or no Hamler, it's not going to matter. Hafley/Mattison have the scheme to take him away. And you're telling me they are suspect against the pass? In the words of Brent Musberger during Ted Ginns PR TD..."This one's over, this race."
It seems that Ohio natives who were not offered by the good guys very often end up having career games against us. Let’s hope Clifford doesn’t get any bright ideas.
I think this is overblown somewhat because of a few outliers.
Game is going to be an absolute dogfight. Hamler has to be stopped. You stop him and jam the run and the defense should feast. I think this is the first offensive showing where OSU is held to under 35 pts due to a strong defense on the opposing side. Fields' decision making has improved and it needs to be flawless. PSU can create them turnovers.
Michigan State held us to 34, but we also only threw the ball twice in the 4th quarter.
Penn State’s defense isn’t very strong.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Clifford is quoted in our local paper as "waiting for this game and promising total preparation and commitment from Penn State."
Obviously he has a chip on his shoulder for not being recruited out of Cincy -- and he wants people to know it. Pretty gutsy for a freshman to run his mouth a bit. Gotta hand it to him, though. He'll make people forget about McSorley by the time he leaves PSU. Should be an interesting game to say the least. I think we win comfortably, but the 19 point line is kind of questionable.
Cliiford is good, but error prone if you can force him to make some bad decisions. Accuracy is okay, but it's been hovering in the 50s since Iowa. He's also taken 19 sacks this year, so I think if we can pressure him, it'll be a rough day for him.
I wouldn't consider a player promising preparation and commitment running his mouth.
That's a fair point. I'll just say in reading between the lines his tone was pretty confident and maybe a bit cold, which is fair game, I'll agree. Then again, this Forum has also (naively) considered much, much less as "bulletin board material" over the years.
I get what you're saying, but for clarification's sake, he's a sophomore. And that seemed pretty tame to me.
He'll need to do some things to overtake McSorley.
Pretty gutsy for a freshman to run his mouth a bit.
I think Clifford is a red shirt sophomore...3rd year at PSU.
Got it - my bad. Thanks to you and Woody for the correction.
One more thing to know...their fans are already speculating about which officiating crew will be at the game. I do not understand the level of lunacy needed to even consider that as a factor.
If you take everything I’ve accomplished in my life and condense it down to one day, it looks decent!
I could not name you a single Big Ten referee, let alone knowing an entire officiating crew.
Don't leave it in the hands of the refs to decide the game. That's why TTUN and PSU know the refs names.
We damn sure knew the name of the ref in the 2007 Illinois game. (whose name escapes me now, lol)
Sounds like they have their excuse all ready to roll. That's very Harbaugh of them
" Successful people are very lucky. Just ask every failure."

Hafley won't make the same mistake as Indiana and play man all game. The only way to lose to PSU is by giving up big plays. Keep everything in front and we should be fine. No long QB runs and no deep balls to Hamler and we should be able to shut down their offense. Freirmuth is going to have to stay in to block CY or Clifford won't make it through the game.
100% agree. I also believe game planning for the next two weeks are pretty similar. Both teams use the RPO against man, and TTUN goes heavy pass when they can’t run the ball. Against top rush defenses, they have had their best passing days. Penn State is similar. Their rushing attack is decent and has faced some good run defenses so far, but they win by throwing it. If we can take away the RPO, I think we shut down their offense.
Unleash the Predator and Justin Fields' legs. Let's do this!
Just WIN--No injuries and no targeting penalties. GO BUCKS--should be a classic!
That "Brotherhood" video may be one of the best ever....time to run through a WALL. Let's GO BUCKEYES!!!
I am amazed at how many current NFL players are on our roster for the first game. That team was loaded, as was the team after that, and the team after that...
LAY THEM POINTS. OSU is going to steamroll these bums.
Proudly dispensing unbridled arrogance since 1983.
I’m most excited to see us match up against a team with a similar caliber of athlete on the other side of the ball. Wisconsin was a great win and they’re a strong team, but the reality is they don’t have athletes that scare the hell out of you. They play sound and disciplined, but their offense runs downhill straight at you. And that’s not the style of ball that beats our defense. I’m looking forward to our defense finally facing an offense with playmakers and explosive athletes and seeing how we react when we finally face a little adversity. This game will go a long way toward preparing us for potential CFP games (fingers crossed we make it).
Spend your days doing what you love.
I expect a lot of Clifford running...by design and him playing sandlot. I expect them to bring their big back up qb in and run wildcat...like they did with Stevens last season. Psu will have to use trick plays.
For OSU I expect we see fields legs help as well as dobbins catching a lot of passes.
This will be a beatdown of epic proportions 52 to 13 My only hope is day running up the score even more but is suspect he will let his foot off the gas in the 4th quarter and put chug in.
Is Cooper healed or do you think it's going to be a redshirt for him??
Nobody will know until Friday. I tend to be skeptical that he will back at this point with the nagging injury. Would be nice if he was back though. Even better if Browning is back.
Overlooked in this piece is that Penn State has the best tight end in the country, Freiermuth. The game will come down to that match up--Werner or White against the guy who moves the chains. This sort of talent may be why the we created the bullet position to avoid another Iowa-style debacle. Given the pass rush OSU can bring, Freiermuth is the first escape valve.
The Penn State offense also depends on Clifford's legs when things break down, as they often do. Can the Buckeyes bring pressure and keep Clifford contained, while covering the TE and back.
Dotson and Handler will get their catches andyards, and Noah Cain is significantly better than the other backs in getting tough yards.
This is going to be a barnburner.
Agree with a post from above, they will need their TE's to block or CY or the dline will destroy their QB or QBs.
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
All the more reason that Hamler's status is so important. If he cannot play (and "pretty hopeful" would not inspire confidence if I were a PSU fan) and take the top off, that allows us to use our nickel to shadow their TE. I, for one, hope he plays so I do not have to hear about it as an excuse.
We're winning this game by 24+, just like all the others. Penn State may be the best team we will have played, but they aren't going to be in this game after the first half.
I think the halftime score will look competitive, but unlike for example the Rutgers game where the other team scores late, we will be the team doing the scoring in the 4th quarter. 56-21.
The schedule was set to make the last home game the toughest possible for this year's home games. Then the last regular season game is against the rival. Right out of a Hollywood thriller sort of season.
This team have been stars and as individuals they say all the right things! They certainly appear to be prepared,at least to my untrained eye, so now go out and execute.
ie, one win at a time!
One win at a time, times 5, that will get it done!
Go Bucks, Beat Penn State!
I was at the Penn State game this past weekend. They were sloppy. Clifford was missing wide open receivers - a mistake he can't make against OSU. Penn State will have to play a perfect game to be competitive with OSU - but they haven't played a perfect game yet this season. I highly doubt this will be the week they can put it all together. OSU will win 45 - 17.
Yep, I watched the IU game, too, and had it not been for a stupid, failed fake punt at midfield, IU would've won.
Can't wait for media to call upset alert and kiss Penn State's ass all week, then say it wasn't that good of a win when we kick their asses
The past two games have been two of the greatest comebacks in Ohio State's great history. Thrilling to say the least. I don't think Ohio State will need those heroics this season. Also wondering about Hamler's health. We shall see.
I want to see us win on offense, win on defense, and win on special teams. Dominate every aspect of the game.
Also, as soon as I heard that PUS was good against the rush, I wanted to see what caliber of rushing team they've faced - and it looks like they've not faced a good running back - let alone two. Personally, this makes me want to see us attack that facet of their team. Go rush heavy at the beginning, throwing to move the chains if we don't get there on the ground. Keep that up and completely embarrass their defensive line. Once they bring folks up to commit to stopping the rush, switch gears and get pass happy.
'97 - Molecular Genetics
The run-heavy attack to start was the strategy against MSU. Some fans were probably freaking out that Sparty was stuffing our run in the 1st quarter, but Day was simply setting them up for the change of attack that came in the 2nd quarter.
We also did the same thing against Wisconsin, but we were successful running right at them from the very start.
I expect to see a similar game plan. But Day is so smart, he may come out of the gate throwing and play-calling in a way that we (and PSU) haven't seen at all so far this season. Whatever he does, know that he's doing it to set up what comes next.
I having Fields run only 3 times and work on passing game against Rutgers and Maryland was to work on passing efficiency and the long pass, which PSU is vulnerable too.. I think we come out slinging and then set up the run
Talent gap way to wide this year. Spread ever been bigger than 19?
All no longer there and in this game ..... LOOK AT THOSE STATS!
-Sequon Barkley (PSUs alltime leading rusher)
-Trace McSorley (PSU all time leading QB in wins, passing yards and completions)
-and DaeSean Hamilton (PSU all time leading receiver in receptions).
They are a good team, OSU should beat them if they play their game. Simple as that. PSU has looked beatable several times, OSU has not once against similar teams. Their shot is to use a number of QB runs. Not that OSU stinks at stopping them but it is hard, as a defense, to stop that sort of thing.
I imagine OSU should score on offense. I doubt every drive or anything but they will get their points and do well on that end of things. If the defensive line rebounds from the Rutgers mess than Clifford will struggle.
PSU cannot block Young with just a tackle. That means a lot of 2 TE sets.
Interesting (and hope to) see Young play off the LOS in the mid-backer position like he did vs. WI. Badgers did not know whether to shit or go blind in that defensive scheme.
Bucks loading both barrels of the double barrel 12 guage and getting ready to unload them both, 1st with PSU and then TTUN.
Enjoying daily the back to back ttun beatdowns.
PSU's run D is indeed stout, but have they played against a team that had (1) a good O-line, (2) a solid runningback like Dobbins, and (3) a QB who can beat defenses with both his legs and his arm?
I think not.
"porque las estirpes condenadas a cien años de soledad no tenían una segunda oportunidad sobre la tierra."
Fuck Penn State
I cant wait
I Hate Michigan.
"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
2016 and 2017 featured a QB who had issues with the pass and a reliance on the QB run game. It's a miracle we won in 2017, and we should have won in 2016. And we were facing Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley. 2018, our defense had schematic issues but DH was able to bail us out.
We should win this game, and it shouldn't be close like those three. Much better offense balance, one of the best defenses I've seen ever, going against a clearly inferior PSU team at home.
Their five games against teams that currently have winning records this season – Pitt, Iowa (17-12), Michigan (28-21), Minnesota (26-31) and Indiana (34-27) – have all been one-score games.
This tells you everything you need to know about PSU.
Beat Penn State!

Meanwhile, Chase Young has been hanging out for two weeks studying PSU and UM film!! Lol Sometimes presents come in unlikely forms.
"Cause I couldn't go for three!"
Bucks win 45-23.
'Chase' the state penn qb!
Anyone else notice in the 2017 brotherhood video, around 6:20 there was a clip with JT, Burrow and Haskins all together. Ahh memories
Dammit just looked at the weather supposed to snow early morning and switch to a snow/rain mix by kick off. Or course our 2 biggest games to date will have shitty weather. Let's hope that clears up from now until kickoff.
Sloppy weather hurts PSU imo. Won’t be anything like we saw for Wisconsin. Showers are spotty
Helps their D out though since they're pretty good against the run and terrible against the pass.
Ultimately I think bad weather helps the team that has overall better balance. This is how it played out against Wisconsin.
But 5 days out, that forecast is still too far ahead to be accurate. Let's see if that forecast changes between now and Friday.
Yeah I just hate playing in shitty weather, at least for the big games. It can go ahead and rain and snow when we play the Rutgers of the world.

Protect the Perimeter
Contain, contain and contain
We do.this and its not even close
Every PSU game I watch all I see are huge arm punts, can OSU stop the rainbow 50/50 balls again. Mcsorely 2.0
I know it truly doesn't matter... but, in 2016 there was an EGREGIOUS Pass Interference non-call on James Clark that would've put OSU in FG range in 2016 for either the win or the tie. It wasn't called, and then Barrett was sacked. I mean it really doesn't matter anymore.
of course, to be fair, in 2014 OSU had an interception that the replay did NOT overturn (weird, right?) and a FG that was snapped AFTER the play clock expired. So, well, it works both ways :)
hope the entire ohio state team is ready for a rough scrimmage saturday...i know chase'll be breathin fire.
