Big deal. They had a good half against Penn State, beat Notre Dame, Maryland, and Michigan State..........

And I am supposed to be worried?

I don't think so.

i don't know if we win by 40.......i mean, the starters probably won't play the 4th quarter - it might just be a 28 point win.

I think the score would need to be, like, 70-0 before starters would get pulled for an entire quarter against UM.  Short of that, the starters stay in until at least a 4 TD lead with less than 5 minutes to go in the game.

And MSU was missing their best player and soul of their defense against ttun - Joe Bachie.

I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!

9/28 VS IU 40-31

10/5 VS OSU 34-10

10/12 VS Wiscy 38-0

10/26 VS PSU in the rain 28-7

11/9 VS Illini 37-34

11/16 VS TTUN 44-10

They gave up 30+ points 5 of last 6 games and the only one that didnt end up being over was in a rainy game that pSU took their foot off the gas.

Since that Indiana game in the last six their defense is giving up 35 ppg. Joe Bachie was in 5 of those games. His presence is in the run game and wouldn't have mattered in this type of game. I think we can all rest knowing MSU wasn't good when we played them and they aren't good now. They were a paper tiger that first month.

Good. Harbaugh's winning just enough to keep getting contract extensions. Let him go 0-60 before Michigan realizes their folly.

Michigan is looking good right now...I also recall this happening last season as well. I was so sure that they were going to finally win...now I'll just wait to see how it plays out. So as of November 18th 2019 Threat Level = 2,913 days

Fact- TTUN has played two teams with both a top 30 pass and top 30 rush defense. Those games they struggled mightily..against Wisconsin and Iowa. Since then, they have exposed the weak parts of their opponents. MSU has a great run defense, and a below average pass defense. They struggled to run, and exceeded the pass. It was the same against PSU.

I like Chase Young and the defense against Shea.

i get M is a big week; but since penn st has come to the Big - there is NO love lost between them and OSU.

HS
Snake64's picture

Well isn't that the job of the offensive coordinator in the first place? To attack the opposing team defense weakness? I'd say they had success in that regard since the Wiscy game.

That said we have no real weakness on defense or offense as both units are playing ELITE. This won't be a contest. I really can't see them putting more than 14 on the board and that's if they are really lucky.

Sounds about right to me. IMO it would be foolish to think that they stand no chance against us. I lived through the Cooper years - this rivalry is played on the field and not on paper. They have the weapons but they won't be able to go head to head against us for four quarters and beat us consistently. The harbaugh coaching factor will be on full display.

It's not a rivalry .............. it's a wreckoning.

The last two times they've gone to Bloomington, they've gone to overtime against incredibly mediocre IU teams. Indiana can (and will) beat Michigan.

Oh man and Indiana SHOULD have beaten PSU! They blew it. If they had Penix at QB it would have been a done deal.

HS
Dmac3212's picture

If I was fan of that gross team I would honestly care less about IU. TTUN is not making the playoffs or winning the BIG. I would spend the two weeks prepping for the Bucks. A win against us does a lot more for the program than a win against IU.

I sure hope so, but then again UM is also slated to play Washington and they're only 6-4 (and they open the season playing each other next year).  But...identical records don't always play each other as it's not unusual for one team to have 1-2 wins/looses more/less than the other.

Some will expect blow outs.
Some will expect a close game.
Depends on your perspective.
I am cautious until the clock strikes 0 and we have more points.
Don't get me wrong I think we have a good chance of winning I'm just not feeling 100% confident because I know this is a rivalry and anything can happen and they will be prepared more so this year than in any other year and it's in their own home which will always change the narrative.

Go Buckeyes beat them kitty cats

They're talking a lot of smack about beating a team that they are 4-6 against in the last ten meetings.

I don't know why you moved the threat level. It is still low. OSU will slaughter both PSU and Michigan.

However, it is true that Michigan is getting better. Maybe the blowout won't be as severe as last year. But who knows. However, I definitely think Michigan has improved and could play with anyone in the Big 10, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BUCKEYES.

I am resigned to defeat. OSU has:

  • Great coaching
  • Much better athletes, across the board
  • Speed galore.
  • Great QB in Fields
  • Best defensive player in the nation in Chase Young.

Maybe, if all the stars aligned, Michigan could win once every 20 years. Maybe this is that year. But the quality of recruits, year in and year out, make OSU impossible for Michigan to beat, other than a fluke.

Agree, not sure when the tide change from this attitude to we are going to crush them every time. I think what happened last year will make them play lights out this year because they are tired of hearing about 62-39. Be cautious my friends. We can certainly win but thinking its a given might be setting you up for pain

HS

I'm happy they are playing better. It will give our boys more fire. They won't be sneaking up on us.

I know this coaching staff won't ever let our team overlook TSUN, but you can only do so much when you face a 6-5 team.

Donovan Peoples-Jones might get more attention

I've always been curious why the OSU fanbase seems abnormally respectful of DPJ.  Is it just because he was recruited heavily by the Bucks?  He is a fantastic talent, but has never been UM's best WR and tends to get more hype than his production would warrant.

Michigan fans are really, really pumped about beating Mark Dantonio's crappy team

I think this is something that OSU fans can't relate to.  Although OSU is UM's biggest rivals, they still have 3 of them (OSU, MSU, & ND) of which they all hate and hate them.  OSU only has UM.  PSU is a quasi-rival for both but not a true rival of either.

But the real question as to whether Michigan has actually evolved into a team capable of running with Ohio State is still up in the air for me.

For me it's not up in the air.  No discredit to Willekes, Lewerke, et. al, but they are not Young, Fields, etc.  UM won't be able to block Young or stop Fields.

Until then, credit for a big win. The Threat Level, for obvious reasons, is now ELEVATED.

Makes sense.  Good read, thank you :)

DPJ was the go to guy last season for the majority of the time. This year, he has dealt with an injury. If you've watched him this year, he has not had the burst or speed he did last year. He missed the first few games this season, and probably came back too soon. But against MSU he looked healthy, that screen pass to him he showed the burst and speed he had last season.

HS

I will never feel great going into a Michigan game. I can readily acknowledge that OSU is a far superior team with vastly superior coaching, but until OSU builds an insurmountable lead, I'll be nervous.

HS
Calibuckeyefan1's picture

yeah I will always be nervous for the Game at AA.   last few meetings at ttun other than 2015 have been close. they almost always are even going back to the Tressel years.

This year they are desperate for a win,  having lost 7 in a row and the beatdown from last year.

HS

We've been "peak" all year, hopefully they can sustain it and not see a dropoff of any kind as other teams just hit their stride.

HS
MGOBLUE0205's picture

Michigan is a different team at home. I'm not saying that means they're going to upset OSU. Most Michigan fans should've seen what happened last year coming because for whatever reason they are awful on the road. Patterson is better at home, the defense doesn't seem to have the lapses like they do on the road. If this game was at OSU this year I'd say OSU 49 Michigan 21 or something like that. Michigan at home could possibly make it a game until the 4th quarter. I know I've said in the past Michigan will get blown out worse than last year, but idk I think at home they will play them alot tougher. Shea Patterson is the X factor, he can't fumble or throw bad picks, and he can't miss recievers if they are open. Michigan can't settle for FGs at all in this game.

HS
