Well, I'm glad one of us is.
Look out, PSU! Chase is gonna be motivated for YOU.
It’s pronounced “Thee”.
How long before ZS starts bashing Day on his radio show now (since we know how he feels about the compliance department)?
If Zach Smith is bashing something you are doing you should be proud of yourself because it means you are probably doing something right and not being a trash human.
Zach can piss off.
His podcast has had some interesting content but he still is just bitter about how things went down. If anyone is familiar with how OSU compliance does their jobs it would be him, and I don't know many who would take his side in that argument.
Of course. He doesn't think OSU had a right to fire him over a few blown off recruiting visits to go to strip clubs. That just goes to show how out of touch with reality he is.
Baker Mayfield with his running from the police and arrest. Bunch of B.S.

Not ashamed to admit that I have a man crush on Ryan Day. The guy is one of the most well-rounded, very well spoken, and down to earth persons I have ever heard. He most definitely has his act together. We are lucky to have him here.
Fields of Dreams
We're not alone in our admiration for Coach Day, and I think Ohio State is going to show him the love in the off season, too.

Especially if he gets that Ring, tOSU will Sing...his praise. Make it rain will be the refrain. Dolla, Dolla, Holla, Holla.
You win with people.
It seems Day's enjoying some space under the radar, yet...and that's a good thing.
Meanwhile, PJ Fleck and the word genius are now linked...while Iowans anticipate his visit to Kinnick Stadium, this Saturday:

Some folks out in Woodshed getting eager
Admit it - it's also about his rosy cheeks.
100 percent, I have definitely been enjoying his way of running things. And it may just be that he is the cool new kid in town but the media coverage of him and OSU has been refreshingly positive for most of the season.
Still think it's asinine that he was suspended at all, but this is a good outcome.
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
He broke a rule (perhaps one that should be changed, but still a rule unless and until that happens). We're lucky this all broke when it did.
No luck involved regarding when the story broke. OSU's compliance dept. played it exactly as planned. And Chase Young will be back right on time.
Getting ahead of the NCAA was absolutely the right thing to do. We wouldn't want the NCAA punishing OSU only 8 years after tatgate. 2 games against weak opponents is nothing. Chase gets to play in the big games and OSU looks like it's on top of things (vs. "lack of institutional control"). Win-win.

Yeah, i get it. Stupid ass rule though.
OSU did everything right.
Not such a dumb rule...Shakespeare was right... "Neither a borrower, nor a lender be; For loan oft loses both itself and friend."

Wow 11W peeps are cultured. Shakespeare v Screw Blue. I prefer Screw Blue. lol.
“Day appreciative of OSU compliance department... or else...”
No doubt-don't speak ill of the secret police, if you speak of them at all.
I can't wait for this week to be over
Proud of my football team and my coach. I'm sure there will be additional difficulties down the road at some point, as life tends to throw at us.
But here, today, heading into these final three Saturdays, things look damn good.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
I hear you Hove. It's just tough as a life long fan to not continually look over your shoulder every time things seem too good to be true. What really drives me insane is tOSU seems to get the book, meanwhile in SEC land they get slaps on the wrist.
And loving the meltdowns on Pennlive, Mlive, and mgoblog. They are so wishing they could have voted for which games Chase was going to miss. That just tells you how the Buckeyes are living rent-free in their heads.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
How telling is it that these fans are having a meltdown because our best player's back, when they should just be worrying about their teams getting better. They know they can't beat us with our best players on the field with them.
They were all prepared for the demise of Ohio State now that Urban was gone and they are just beside themselves that we look ever better than before and there is no sign of slowing down...
The funny thing is our opponents and their fans have been hoping for this for 18 years now:
Cooper is fired, a relatively unknown coach from YSU is hired: "UM and PSU will now rule the world!". Result: National title in 2 seasons. 9-1 vs. TTUN. Lloyd Carr is fired.
Tressel resigns, interim year sucks: "UM will rule the East, Wisconsin the West". Answer: Urban Meyer. Undefeated first year. National title in 3 seasons. UM, Wisconsin and PSU all replace their head coaches. 7-0 vs TTUN.
Urban meyer retires, an assistant with 3 games of HC experience is hired. "TTUN is favored in the East! PSU will rise again." Result: OSU is undefeated and the best team in the country (despite ratings). TTUN has 2 losses. PSU lost to Minnesota.
Chase Young is suspended. "Haha. He'll be out vs. PSU and UM. We got 'em". Result: Chase Young will be back for both games and he's angry.
It's the same story over and over. It's like every episode of Scooby Doo where the villain says "I would have gotten away with it if it weren't for these darn kids and their dog."
Daphne was (is?) hot!
For the record, I thought Velma (played by Linda Cardellini) was much hotter. Just sayin’...

Perfect summary of the great run we are on and their collective trail of football tears. Glorious from every perspective. I have a feeling Day will add his own excellent chapter as well! Go Bucks!
Excellent post with a Scobby Doo reference to boot.
My favorite part is how they act like it would have made any difference when we play them.
Even better....I have seen many of them say "it'll just make it that much better WHEN we beat them this year" both PSU and TTUN fans are saying these things.
Glad this was resolved quickly and with as little drama as possible, all things considered. Also glad to hear there's a lot of harmony with the athletic department right now, unlike many other school around the country.
Go Bucks! Beat Rutgers!

Good job compliance department and Ohio State.
Time for Chase Young to feast on some Lions and Wolverines.
This was handled way way better than Urban's infamous lie about Zach Smith, "There was nothing (that Zach Smith did wrong). I don’t know who creates a story like that."
The ability to handle situations like this is why Day is fast becoming one of the best head coaches in college football.
Dude - for the millionth time, URBAN DIDN'T LIE.
He was asked about ZS being arrested. There was no arrest. That never happened. Urban was responding to a question about an event that never occurred.
Should Urban have fired ZS earlier? Probably. But he never lied about it and there was no cover up.

"But he’s gonna kind of stay back here and lift"
Ha, of course he is. That man doesn't look like a predator without getting reps in.
We're gonna see a Penn State QB die on the field next Saturday aren't we....
That would undoubtedly secure the Heisman for Chase.
A couple of strip-sack, fumble-recovery's thrown for TDs wouldn't hurt either
Shandy is not beer
Elite compliance dept!!!!!!
Thanks to all the really smart people at tOSU!!!!!
I still don't understand how a loan you need to pay back (especially if paid back before you make any money) is "preferential treatment" in any way.
Because the rules states as such. Simple.
Harbaugh is going to get a nervous tic when he loses #5 to Ryan Day.
PSU & scUM don't have to worry about running into any compliance issues regarding players getting loans to send girlfriends to bowl games because neither of them get to bowl games any self-respecting girlfriend would want to have tickets to
" Successful people are very lucky. Just ask every failure."

Compliance is needed and very important 24/7/365.
100% agree that coach.Day is scoring about 99 on a scale of 100. We are so fortunate that he's in charge. He is what we needed. The sky is the limit.
Day all the the Way!
All this confirms my thought that it was discovered internally, internal suspension and internal reporting to the NCAA. Good job by the compliance department in getting/staying out in front of this.
The only alarming stat is the number of penalties. Gotta clean those up to achieve perfection!
