When I post on MGOBlog, I talk about how

  • i hate the cooler poppers in Ohio
  • I always call it aOSU (as in “an Ohio State University”
  • I always talk about ho OSU must cheat because how could they be so good.

I made a big effort in order to get my 100 points so I could post a topic.
you seem to be trying too hard.

Holy cow I’m making enemies already, not my intentions friend. I’m guessing you live in that God awful state and for that I’m sorry. But seriously I’m the biggest OSU fan ever. Let’s be friends for life. Also you should move to Ohio.

Nothing wrong with the Great State of Michigan, other than my dislike for the football team and the arrogance in Ann Arbor.

  • I live within 2 blocks of a lake (most Michiganders live close to a lake),
  • it is an easy trip up north to a winter wonderland.
  • Detroit is a food Mecca

you haven’t made any enemies...and I may be wrong.   But I have really good intuition.

Thou may protest too much.

Welcome aboard! I think one of our friends thinks you are being facetious or sarcastic. I’m gonna give you the benefit of the doubt. Glad you love Ohio State. Helmet stickers are merit based so posting intelligent, interesting, insightful or witty comments will help your cause. Hope you enjoy the site. Full of great stuff

That's nationwide. You cant make it safe enough for me.
If my son is a good enough athlete to play football maybe I steer him in another direction. We have known for years the long term ramifications of collision sports.
Ultimately its nature vs nurture and in the end nature always wins.

Yes it is. Some schools are going to 7 on 7. The south lives and breathes football...the talent will almost all be there in 20 years. Northern states just don't have the same affinity. Look at huge states like New York and Illinois that just don't pump out the number of kids relative to their size. Makes me kind of sad.

So you think Ohio state will have another top 3 class? (Everyone on Mgoblog probably)Please insert the year here 20__.

Both of my siblings absolutely refuse to let their kids play contact football. Both my brother and I played HS ball and neither of us had any concussions but I can guarantee you that is the No. 1 reason numbers are plummeting.

I do concussion rehab for work. If you played high school football you have had multiple concussions. It does not take much to cause irritation to the brainstem, just stopping short in a car can do it. There are various levels of concussive effects from extraordinarily minor (which resolve in a few hours) to the more major most associate with concussion. That said, all sports lead to concussion, it is a part of life. If I had sons I would happily encourage them to play football (greatest game on earth imo and the benefits far outweigh the risks -life is a risk afterall). Just be smart about it, no tackle in peewee just 5on5 & 7on7 flag, tackling can come later. And be aware of the way your child acts, if there is change pay attention, getting a King Devick test prior to the start of HS football each season is a good idea (for baseline purposes). If you are worried then retaking the test can offer assurances as to your childs health. Concussions can be lifelong and go unnoticed appearing to just be dysfunction to many. The important thing is you can be proactive and do stuff for yourself/& family to live a better life. Therapies/treatments are helpful of course, but realize that many of us love football for a reason - it provided us with great memories and life experiences that are therapeutic as well.

I have posted a million times about the talent level in Ohio has gone towards the bottom. All you need to do is check top 250 recruiting list from all the services and see how few Ohio players make those list. 15 years ago 8 to 10 players would be on there now 5 is a great number and some years less. It was mentioned the other day Warren had two high schools now just one and not in the top division along with Massillon has stepped down a class. Canton and Youngstown have fewer high schools because of population. Another thing if you want to believe it or not is drugs are very high in Warren a lot of young kids walking the streets strung out and a half a mouth of teeth. Much of that in Pa.where I reside crime is through the roof.
