Good recruiters at great programs are always poaching. Arkansas had a 4 star OL-Tykeviest Crawford decommit before Morris got canned. He's the only Arkansas recruit that the real big boys(Bama,LSU,Oklahoma, etc) might be interested in,imo. Unfortunately Morris did not recruit RBs well.......
Not sure if Crawford has the grades needed
I tried bum juice once, it was bitterly disappointing.
If you don’t have the grades for Arkansas or Oklahoma.....head shake.............
I seem to recall poaching a guy named KJ Hill from Arkansas. That has worked out well for the Buckeyes.
Let's Go Bucks
Bert trying to cancel his official to OSU is probably the funniest recruiting story I've ever heard.
As recruiting has blown up and gotten so mainstream in the past 15-20 years, eventually we are going to have a guy that covered it for 30 years, retire and write an entire book about stories like this. I can only dream I guess lol. I'm hoping Bill Greene is a candidate for that, or someone related to OSU recruiting.
But yes, stories like these would probably be better if these dudes didn't have anything to risk anymore. Fingers crossed for sure
KJ was significantly higher rated than all of these. There are no takes here for tOSU
Meh - i wouldnt consider #s 336,342 & 399 blue chip - not a 5 star among them
Would you take another Davon Hamilton or Thayer Munford if they popped up on the radar now?
There's not room in the current class for projects, except maybe at RB.
They've already got another DaVon Hamilton committed, fwiw.
I think we might still see a sleeper DE like Jean Baptiste in this class-and Hamilton is a prospect just like his brother-local guy who quietly showed his potential to Coach Johnson, not someone the starhanderouters slobbered over from Day 1.
The point is that the staff realized the potential of Munford and Hamilton and the starhanderouters did not.
Perhaps this is something for the staff to keep in mind.
Oh yeah, I'm sure they could use a reminder. It's not like they have like full-time staff members dedicated to recruiting or anything.
Wake me when Texas drops two of the next three and Tom gets run out of town. (Damn you KState for blowing that game last week!)
I'll be at the IA St./Texas game this Saturday. I'll try to put some bad mojo on TX.
Bears...Buckeyes... Battlestar Galactica.
Will Bijan be back on the table for us if Herman and his staff implode to close out the season? That's who I'm focused on from there.
Same here. I’ve mentioned before that I know a guy who claims to have connections to the Robinson family. We work for the same company, just in different states. I don’t know him well enough to know if he’s full of crap or not. So for what it’s worth, which may not be much, what he told me recently was they have four boxes, prepare him for the league, solid coaching staff, maximum exposure, and a campus within a drivable distance.
They loved OSU but it didn’t check the last box. Concerns now are Texas isn’t checking all of those boxes either, but nobody is. Now it’s a matter of which boxes they are willing to compromise and that’s still to be determined.
Any of us probably could have come to this conclusion so it might be all crap but I thought I would share anyway.
Texas never checked that first box anyways. UT is ranked 22nd in number of pros in the NFL. That's behind UCLA just for perspective. Ohio State is 2nd, only behind Bama.
Now that I think about it, Texas doesn't check any of those boxes...
Baylor is going to beat Texas.
I think most programs do not stop committing players they want and will keep talking to them hoping to flip them until the very end. Just the nature of the beast. I feel the coaches are always aware of that, but they do not want anybody. If it is a particular area of need than they probably would be all over it as soon as they find something out.
I do not think there are many players that Arkansas had that are of much interest to OSU. There are some programs that could have such things happen soon if coaches get the axe but it depends who the staff had relationships in the first place. It is hard to come in late and win. Not impossible, but usually they are comfortable with somebody and have built a relationship.
Only one man can save Arkansas.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
It's a virtual certainty that the staff is keeping an eye on the players they should be keeping an eye on, nothing to worry about at this point.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
IMO, a lot of people who are new to following recruiting fail to appreciate the family‘s role in the process-and want reduce the entire process down to a bunch of metrics instead of taking non-quantifiable factors into account-and accepting that these things are aa much-or likely more-a part of the process as “recruiter rankings” and raw #s of NFL alumni, etc, etc.
Who the heck is OSU gonna target? I mean, other than Bama, Clemson, and LSU, maybe a few from Georgia, OSU doesn't want or need anyone else's decommits.
