I hope he can get some protection behind that line.

That o-line is trash. I feel for Haskins.
I called this when he got drafted but I was devastated to see that he got picked by that trash organization who so far have set him up to fail. Thank goodness they canned the coach who didn’t even want him and hopefully he can begin to improve week by week.
Jay Gruden never should've been coaching Haskins at the beginning of the year to begin with. That was a colossal misstep by Snyder and Co. to retain Gruden after last year's shitshow and then force a QB he didn't want on him. Gruden may be gone now but his staff is still in place and they're not much higher on Dwayne than Jay was (there's a reason why Callahan has reemphasized focus on the run game with AP ever since Dwayne was named the starter).
I just had the worst feeling when NY drafted the Duke guy and then Haskins kept falling only to be grabbed by that awful organization. This may sound silly but I had a sick feeling in my stomach. Everyone on here was trying to be positive and I got DVed into oblivion for complaining. So far things have possibly gone worse than I originally thought they would.
Good news, bad news.

With Gruden gone, Haskins may finally get the coaching help he needs most. Alex Smith has done well, but Haskins has looked a lot different then he looked when he was here.

IIRC most of Gruden's staff wasn't high on Haskins, it wasn't just him. Also there is zero chance that Bill Callahan will be back in WAS after this season so I don't know how beneficial these reps really are for Dwayne. Odds are he's going to be in a completely different system a year from now (hopefully with a coach that actually wants him but Snyder and Allen are colossal idiots who don't know how to properly manage a team so I wouldn't hold my breath on that).
Callahan is an idiot, he is known as the Qb killer, usually signal callers take a beating in his system.
He's a great O-line Coach (one of the best O-line coaches in the League in fact). However he is indeed completely out of his depth as a head coach and QBs have rarely performed well under his tutelage. The only QB in recent memory I can remember having a good season in a Bill Callahan offense was Zac Taylor when he won Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year playing under Callahan at Nebraska in 2006 (and that still doesn't excuse how awful the rest of Callahan's run at Nebraska was).
Systems and coaches are important, but reading between the lines of comments after his last game, it sounds like his teammates are ready to have him take control of the team, and they WANT him to take control and run with it.
Be the man, Dwayne!
He'll win a couple games this season, have some ups and downs, but hopefully next year is a fresh start with a new coach. He's going to be fine, and oh yes by the way he's a millionaire!
Don’t play too good...don’t want to lose out on da predator....

Not sure if this is good news or bad news. Either way, good luck, Dwayne! You're going to need it.
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
They need to load up on the O-line for him to have a chance of a long career. I'm talking multiple quality picks. A quality receiver to complement McLaurin wouldn't hurt, either.
But of course, this is Dan Snyder we're talking about.
I aim to misbehave.
They already ruined Haskins, now he has to undo what that dogshit organization did to him. He looks nothing like he did at OSU, they made him a skittish dog.
Dude, Joe Montana in his prime couldn't be any sort of successful behind that line.
Of course he doesn’t look like he did at OSU. That was college football and he played for an OSU team with an overwhelming talent advantage over most of its opponents. He playing against NFL teams now and for a team in the league’s lower echelons. If he has what it takes to succeed in the NFL and he stays healthy he will be fine. No one has ruined him.
Is the team tanking or will the Redskins do everything they can to support Dwayne and try to win games?
The only thing missing for him are 5 guys in front, and Day on the sideline.
Dont you be wishing any of that trash on us. Day has to stay right where he is for a LONG time.
Day has to stay right where he is for a LONG time.
After moving 11 times in 15 years, Day & family want to settle down for a very long time.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
Woah...you have gone too far my friend.
Yes, STOP IT!
What makes you think I want Day leaving? I'm ecstatic that Fields is not being lined up in an empty set for a QB draw.
He looked absolutely awful against the Giants, bad against the Vikings but then somewhat competent against the Bills (albeit in a super-conservative offense). So if he keeps trending upwards he should be ok!
As well as Haskins performed last season, I believe another year at TOSU would have served him well. Just one season as a starter really doesn't prepare any QB for the NFL. He can only reach for the sky at this point. Hopefully his o-line will take care of him, and he stays healthy.
Or sitting a season behind Rodgers or Brady.
Lol no. He got $14.4 million guaranteed. He made the right choice.
Only the money shows that. He's playing for the fucking Redskins and they're already well on their way to ruining him. Somehow I doubt Dwayne is playing solely for the money, he wants to win and that's not going to happen in WAS as long as Bruce Allen is around.
Good teams, almost by definition, aren’t drafting first round QBs. He’s pretty much guaranteed to go to a crappy franchise.
Not every bad team in this league is as despicable as the Washington Redskins are. Case in point, Trent Williams. Every single player on that roster should be looking at what the FO is doing there and questioning their loyalty at this point.
He was only the starter in the Bills game. That's when he's at his best. He never was that good coming in off the bench (but of course he was good enough to beat TTUN in 2017, I know).
I remember him coming into the Illinois game when they pulled Barrett with a 40 point lead and he looked pretty bad - ! - and they had to put Barrett back in for awhile!
And, even as a backup he split some reps with Burrow.
But given the starter's role in CBus, he was the best ever at OSU. As a pro, he should be able to come in off the bench and play, but maybe the reality with him is he wants to be THE STARTER.
Hoping for the best....
Praying that Dwayne will stay healthy, get some offensive protection. Hang in there and go for it DH.
It’s going to be a struggle for him no doubt. But at least he’ll have tons of reps to get use to the NFL game speed. Stay healthy D-Train.
Fields of Dreams
Maybe he being auditioned as 'trade bait' for Tua. That is the Redskins way!?
Like ALL QBs, he needs time, talent around him and repetitions.
Unfortunately I think you're right. It's a shame he didn't land with an organization with a coach that wanted him and was willing to try and develop him for the future
"Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream."
I’m not convinced that Tua is going to be a great NFL Qb, he has always struggled with Turnovers and staying healthy, the last 2 big games he has played in he has not looked great at all.
They need to know what they have, but too little too late imho.
Alex Smith still intends to come back next year (I don't see it, but God bless him). They'll dump Gruden darling Colt McCoy. They'll have to then consider keeping Case Keenum for insurance and/or look at drafting yet another QB next spring.
It all adds up to another botch-a-palooza for one of/the worst organizations in pro sports.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
Without knowing who is the new coach and their philosophy, I'm really hoping the don't draft a new QB (Tua's already hurt twice, I don't think Herbert or Joe B. are as good a prospect as DH). Another O-linemen would be nice. Doubt it would happen, but it would be great if the new coach could get Trent to come back. I just have a hard time seeing anyone really good and feeling comfortable taking on Bruce Allen, actually taking the Redskin's job. But glad that DH is going to get all the time with the first string offense the rest of the year.
Oh I would love nothing more to see Washington stick with DH and rebuild around him.
Bruce Allen is the sticking point, as usual, agree.
Washington won't accomplish anything until Snyder sells them. Snyder is the problem.
I'm a Skins fan, but I 100% agree. It all starts and ends with Dan Snyder. There has never been a plan. He doesn't build anything. He just keeps trying to make a splash and it always backfires.

Good Luck Dwayne your going to need it!
Problem is Dwayne is about 10 years late, his type of Qb game is old school. Modern offenses call for an athletic Qb, Dwayne is more of a true pocket passer. He has always had trouble passing if he has to move his feet. If he can set up he is a good passer. Last year at Ohio State he had an Elite corp of receivers and a really OLine, Dwayne is not going to look good if he is forced to make plays out of nothing.
You may be right B_B. Let's circle back in a year or so and see if Dwayne is doing okay...
Well, at least he is getting a head start by getting the crap beat out of him for ten games this year, hopefully he learns, improves and becomes a viable QB next season for the Redskins. He certainly has the arm for the job it's just a matter of rather or not he's athletic enough to survive and smart enough to figure out Pro defenses.
Maybe now that Haskins knows he’s the starter, he’s received and signed all his endorsement deals and such, he will now also regularly put in the work, study the playbook, as well as working on the mental study portion of the game.
I'm hoping if he is a PROFESSIONAL QB, he would be "regularly putting in the work, study the playbook, as well as working on the mental study portion of the game." What do you think he has been doing? Sitting on the sideline pouting and wishing the other QB would get hurt or play badly? If he has not been serious about it up until now he won't last long any how.
I think you might have him mixed up with Cardale, lol!
