I’m slow to wake up and read that as “if only being mattered” and I was like shit, do we really have to get all existential on a Monday?

This is definitely where I parked my car.

I could give two shits about the playoffs or NC.  I'm worried about this week and the next three after that.  I'll worry about the playoffs and NC after the game on the 30th.

HS

I just saw Maryland play, so do not stress. The next two weeks is an SEC type schedule. Save any stress for the last few weeks.

Don't worry about any of those games.

And in other news, the coaches remain clueless.

I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!

You mean, of course, the non-coaching support staff assigned to handle this task on behalf of the head coach.

HS

What!@@?? The coaches don't do their own voting? How could we be so deceived!

Um, well, i'm sure that the coach is involved, giving overall direction - "make sure you rank us as high as reasonably possible, as well as our opponents"

There is Maryland and only Maryland this week.

The worst part about being the favorite is that you can only disappoint. If you win, you were expected to. If you don't then you didn't live up to expectations. There is no best part to being a favorite.

Screw polls.
Screw Vegas odds makers.
Focus on beating Maryland.

GO BUCKS!
Beat Maryland!
BEAT TTUN FOREVER!

This is the biggest ESECPN conspiracy I've every seen and it's being driven by Finebaum.  They're publishing press clippings to undermine the team's focus with the hopes of derailing the train.  Don't fall for it!

You never lose to those pricks. Ever. Ever.

HS

Yes, Paul Finebaum is biased (so I've heard). But I don't know if I buy this grand conspiracy lol

Day has kept the team focused, and I don't see that changing this week. The table is set for this team to achieve all it's goals this year.

As Day said in a recent presser, he told the team that if they are having the type of season they set out to from the beginning, these conversations from the outside would surface. He said maintaining focus and discipline would become more difficult. But the team has continued to respond. They know the stakes and what has been two black eye games the past two seasons. They seem hungry and determined.

Can't wait 'til Saturday.

Remember the Alamo!

I mean remember the Iowa 55-24.
Remember the Purdue 49-20.

So I don't have to try to forget the Ann Arbor 24-12 -- after all these years.

I think the Bucks win easily---but covering 44 points is a major task.  I remember sitting in the stadium last year in Maryland watching a track meet instead of a football game.  52-51 final in OT and Maryland went for 2 and had a wide open receiver in the end zone and their quarterback flat out chocked the pass.  I know last year was last year and this year is this year.  But, they did score plenty on last year's defense.  But again last year is history.  I think we win in the 35-38 point range.  GO BUCKS!

Anyone think the bucks will drop one of the last 2 games?   What’s everyone’s prediction?

Doug tipton

HS
LandonTruckedCollins's picture

No. Armageddon has come for Franklin and Harbaugh.  Day is about to run both of them out of the conference.

HS
Sloopy1976's picture

No, they will win both.

I agree that we need to stay focused and take it one game at a time. I think Day has the team in the right mindset. The last two games of the season will be tough, but the Bucks are more than capable of running both off of the field. I expect to win. Whether it is easy or not is another story, but I don't think we will be in danger of losing either game.

GO BUCKS!

BEAT MARYLAND!

9/4 is not +240 ... it is +225 ...

See, in one mathematical equation, OSU's chances for No. 1 in CFP went up!

HS

I’d rather see us #2 or #3 in the first CFP. Not #1.

Artthedart

HS
NorCal Buckeye's picture

Agreed. As a #2, beat Clemson at #3 and then beat LSU at #1. That would be amazing.

HS
Ocbucks's picture

So the Buckeyes went from 33% chance (3:1) to 40% chance (5:2)

young went from 4% chance (25:1) to 12% chance (8:1)

Vegas need to get out of the dark ages with odds.

HS
LandonTruckedCollins's picture

Winner of Bama vs LSU is going to become the betting favorite so it doesn't really matter to me.

HS
buckeyepastor's picture

Young’s chances might be better if he took 60+ defensive snaps a game. Fields’ chances may be better if they threw the ball 45 times a game. Dobbins’ chances may be better if they gave him all the running back reps.  Lots of teams would do things like that, have done so in years past for Heisman candidates.  But so glad that we are instead doing none of those things but instead executing the best gameplan to score and win big, every week, every quarter, every possession.

"Woody would have wanted it that way"

HS
Extramedium's picture

Young has the media on his side now.  That's really all that matters.  Media hype got a slightly above average linebacker like Manti Te'o enough votes for an invite to NY... it's more than enough for a beast like Young.

If he plays like he should vs Maryland and Rutgers (even for just one half), and plays even remotely as well as he did vs Wisconsin when we play PSU and UM, it would be his to lose.

HS
NYC Buckeye's picture

Definitely don't love this.  Historically we have always performed better without huge expectations.

HS
Extramedium's picture

we need to stop living in the past seriously.  This is a very different program.

HS
Iwouldliketotalktoyou's picture

So far this version of the Buckeyes seems loose and is playing with confidence. To me, that makes it easier to win. They don't look worried about anything except the play at hand. Hope it keeps up.

Gotta love it.
