If ever a DL wins the Heisman it has to be right now.
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
If Chase Young is invited to the Heisman ceremony and a QB wins the award, what are the odds Chase Young sacks the QB and just takes the Heisman?
Lol. That's hilarious. ;)
No player in CFB is more impactful right now.
Lifetime vs. UM: L 9-1, C 8-0, T 5-0
Ohio State University President Jim Tressel
He deserves an invite but won't win.
Possiboy because Fields or Dobbins might beat him.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
We have 3 legit candidates. That usually hurts the odds.
We have 3 4 legit candidates.
Jeaux Burreaux is a Buckeye graduate and also a legit candidate.
You never lose to those pricks. Ever. Ever. Urban Frank Meyer
Don't think he needs to break or even tie the record, but a nice round "20" on that sack total gets him some Heisman votes for sure. Enough to win? Probably not, but the scenario the OP sketches gives him a fighting chance if he continues to produce at this level.
1. Chase Young is the best player in college football.
2. Hurts, nor Oklahoma, took any damage because of that loss.
Tailgate Fare Historical Archive
Yeah, Hurts was 19-26 for nearly 400 yards with almost 100 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Not a bad day, loss aside.
Tell that to Dwayne Haskins.....
Haskins was hurt more by two players having statistically eye-popping seasons, just like Hurts is not going to emerge from the shadow of Joe Burrow this year (unless something drastic happens).
Did Chase have 4 sacks today?
Yes 4 Sacks and 2 TFL
I thought he had 3, but espin stats also show 5 tfl's.
And 2 forced fumbles.
Yes he did
He should be the first guy drafted by the NFL this year. He might lose out to a QB there, too. But he's more valuable than anyone else in this draft, I bet
Success - it's what you do with what you've got. - Woody Hayes
He's a better version of Joey and Nick Bosa and they are doing really well so Chase might just be a generational type player.
We could see Fields, Dobbins, and Chase all 3 in New York.
He is the best overall player in football. But I know he won't win. If Burrow has 5000 passing and 50 TD like Haskins, he will win. He will be heavily promoted by the SEC ESPN.
Burrow (was Buckeye)
Titans / Transfers
Seems right to me.
Not if they lose to Auburn and Alabama.
Tbf Hurts had like 500 total yards, 3 TDs, and like 75% completion percentage
big 12 players should be excludedroheisman talk, no defense league
Agreed. Garbage football.
He was benched in favor of 2a because he wasn't accurate enough a passer. He transfers to the B12 and suddenly he is the best player in college football (what the award is meant for)?
Hahaha 2a...I may be drunk but that would make me laugh sober.
Lincoln Riley is probably a little better at developing QBs than whomever they have at Alabama. 2 straight transfer QBs that became heisman winners and it would probably be 3 if it weren’t for Burrow.
I usually don’t care about Heisman races, but come on Ohio State. You have marketing outreach. Promote him. If Mantei Teo was a candidate in 2012, this kid is.
Good point. Remember the Pace's pancakes fridge magnets?
Well, his girlfriend publicly promoted him.
I generally don't think there is anything within the realm of possibility that he could do that would still allow him to win. That's not right, but likely the case.
Just think Chase Young is 1 fake girlfriend away from winning the damn Heisman
Needs to get himself a dead fake-girlfriend if he wants to be considered
Shandy is not beer
He gets near 20 sacks and returns a pick-6 or fumble for TD in our remaining big games he going to NYC for sure with a chance to win it.
AKA the Horseshoe, the Shoe, and the House That Harley Built
Maybe 7 sacks, 5 TFL, plus knocking out Shea butter and D-Caff from the game might do it.
Hurts is a one man show for Okie, Dobbins and Fields share.
BIg 12 football is trash, 1 of 3 buckeyes who are invited will win
All Glory is Fleeting
The fact Oklahoma lost is pretty bad for Hurts. Being in the playoff is a pretty big deal for the Heisman. Chase deserves it.
Young winning the Heisman, in all likelihood, is pie in the sky stuff, not because he isn't arguably the best player in America, but because the trophy is awarded to the best offensive player in America despite the Heisman Trophy trust's claim that its trophy is "awarded annually to the most outstanding player in NCAA football." Wrong. As a matter of fact, it's even more restrictive than just the offensive side of the ball, because it's only awarded to quarterbacks and running backs 94% of the time... literally. I think there are 81 Heisman winners, and FOUR WRs/'ends' have won it -- Tim Brown, Howard the traitor, and two other players from nearly a century ago -- plus Woodson the traitor's anomaly two decades ago at DB. So, of the 81 winners, only FIVE haven't been either a QB or an RB. You wanna know who the best player in college football is? Wait for the NFL draft in April and that will usually tell you.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
#ChaseTheHeisman should be the hashtag. Saw someone throwing that out there today. I like it.
He is one of the best players in the country- he should be in the hunt for the Heisman.
Enjoying daily the back to back ttun beatdowns.
This game came at the right time because he is trending way up as Hurts, Tua, and Taylor are all trending down. It will get him in the discussion for a few weeks, he can stat pad against Rutgers and Maryland, and then he has to disrupt Penn St the way he did Wisconsin today.
I really think he has a chance, he has been all over Twitter today and absolutely is riding the hype train right now.
If you take everything I’ve accomplished in my life and condense it down to one day, it looks decent!
The Heisman is suppose to go to the best player in college football. How can anyone watch predator play and say that theres someone else can play their position more undisputedly better than all others. If CY doesn't win it, the Heisman is not given to the best PLAYER, just the best offensive player.
No chance I expect that to happen. We saw Suh and Mcaffrey get screwed even though they were clearly the best players.
