I hope they just start carton right away. This team and its ceiling will rely on his growth at PG
CJ Walker will be just fine. Wait and see, both of them are going to tear up the conference!

I am excited.
Not sure what the expectation is for the beginning of the season, but I really expect this team to be something special come tourney time. Gonna be a fun ride.

Holt is calling the freshman "tremedous" before he evens plays a game......whoa! He gets to the paint better than CJ already? Cant wait!!! These two kids MAY make this season real special. And with Kaleb dropping 30lbs! Let's go!!
With Kaleb's weight loss and increased mobility, if we can establish consistent 3-point shooting we could be very effective with a 7 seconds or less offense. CJ or DJ coming off a Kaleb pick while the wings flock to the arch -- so many scoring options. And the plus is that we're usually pretty solid on defense, something a 7 seconds or less offense typically lacks (hope our conditioning is good!).
Looking forward to a more dynamic offense to go along with the selfless, disciplined, scrappy basketbucks.
Nice article, Colin. Jam-packed with lots of data, details, insights, analysis and quotes. We’re still thin in the post—no pun intended after Kaleb’s admirable weight loss—but loaded with athletes to go uptempo and run opponents out of the gym. I’m looking forward to more dribble penetration, which was definitely lacking the past several years.

It’s about damn time we finally have true point guards. Can’t wait to see these two running the show.

“He's (DJ) a freak of nature,” Kaleb said. “He's really fast. Really athletic. He finishes around the rim at a different level.”
When your peers give these shout outs, it's going to hopefully bring team camaraderie off, and on the floor. Sure it may take a season or two to get a B1GC, and extended runs come Dance time. Thanks Coach Holt, for working "fun" back into Buck bball.
I'm. all. In.
Thanks Colin looking forward to these updates.

Having true point guards will make so much difference. Just look at Scoonie Penn and Mike Conley to see how important it is. Holtmann and company have done a great job playing without one for 2 seasons but now we have more pieces to be able to compete. This team should be versatile, athletic, and more explosive. This is going to be a fun season to watch.
Coach with all the right pieces really is damn exciting!

Cant wait to watch this team! Hard to think about hoops while our football team is in the midst of running the table
Btw: Another site predicted that not only does tOSU football run the table, but wins every regular season game by double digits. Which is probably valid given we could be double digit favs here on out!
These guys should take care of most of the weaknesses in our offense. We are also getting stronger this year at the wing position where you need a scorer to be successful. The one other thing you need to be successful in today's college game is the ability to hit threes. Hope these guys can help there as well by getting us better looks in rhythm.
I don't want to wish a second away of football season, but this is so damn exciting to think about a try PG running this team and burning defenses. Can't wait.
Sounds like there are multiple lineup possibilities.
I am usually not a big fan of 4 guard lineups due to the deficit it can lead to rebounding and even defensively. But used wisely, I think it can create some havoc and all sorts of mismatches offensively. If it gives opposing teams a lot more to think about, all the better. And it has worked out ok for Jay Wright and Villanova.
The only time I can imagine seeing a 4 guard lineup is at the end of ball games. Now, maybe its semantics on what actually constitutes a guard on our team, but I consider Andre, Justin and Musa to be small forwards as none are very adept at handling the ball. I can't see us playing 4 guys together, none of whom are over 6'3", other than salting away a win. I think Jay Wright was using someone like Bridges (who was 6'7" and long) as their 4th guard.
I am not even sure we will see a ton of 3 guard lineups unless injuries to Jallow and Ahrens are serious enough to have limited their growth. I am just not sure you can get away with playing 3 guys 6'3" or less consistently. YOu could maybe match it up with a pressing lineup with 2 of Liddell, Gaffney or Young on the floor, but half court defense and rebounding would preclude us from using that lineup for too long.
I am excited to see how the PG's change the dynamic of our team. I am not sure we have team full of guys that will finish well in the open court, but it should certainly lead to some easier baskets/better looks in the half court.
IDK — a quick hoops-smart player can get rebounds by out-maneuvering bigger, less athletic guys — especially if they are coached on how to use their strengths in compensating for a lack of height
I am super stoked about BasketBucks season starting in 3 weeks!!!
I think both CJ and DJ will drastically change the way we see the team compared to last year which makes me excited. Lets Go Bucks!
I agree. With the experience returning, all the parts will be enhanced from the increase in front court abilities
So pumped about Carton and this team's potential. Bring in Diallo to just play D and clean up plays/finish from early on since well have plenty of firepower at guard and wing if sophomores make expected leap. Would provide invaluable experience and depth come tourney time
Is Justice Sueing eligible this year? Can't remember when he transferred in
If i could change my username, i would
No, next year
Great article.......like my uncle used to say about good cooking...."you put your foot in this one"......
It's about to get LIVE up in the Schott, for at least the next decade!!
