Unbelievable string of threads, Spooner. Thanks!
Should Watts be on the big board?
Off for a reason just waiting for the formal announcement. Have it locked and loaded as #24 just too lazy to go back and revise all of that in my phone.
Got it. Thanks for the explanation.
Must have just been an oversight on Watts, given that he is the likeliest next commit.
But does Stroud commit? *drums fingers anxiously*
"Ryan Day is our Baby Yoda. We must protect him with our lives." ~ D. J. Byrnes
I think his connection to Quincy Avery makes his commitment more of a when than an if (hopefully).
Hope so. An good off season QB battle is always a gossip goldmine. Heaven forbid I do something productive with the off season.
I understand this opinion with Avery’s connection to Haskins and Fields, but I’m assuming he has worked with other QBs who are currently at other schools, right?
He's got 3 testimonials on his site. Former Buckeye commit Emory Jones works/ed with him. As well as Joshua Dobbs (former UTenn and now Steeler) and Deshaun Watson.
Dobbs hasn't been a Steeler for over a month.
I stand corrected. I'd edit my post if I could.
Haha not a big deal, I mean unless you follow the Steelers like I do, you probably wouldn't know that the 3rd string QB got traded. They liked Hodges in camp and pre-season and knew Jacksonville needed a QB, so they pounced on the chance to maximize the money for Dobbs as a backup for them.
Interesting that Emory Jones's testimony is actually from his mom, Trina, presumably because it would be an NCAA violation for Emory to endorse him, which, assuming that's the reason, makes me question the use of his photo. This, in my opinion, cuts to the essence of image/likeness use issue--until that's changed, using Jones's photo even without compensation is an NCAA violation.

Bill Greene sure seems confident that he will
247Sports profile for Gibbs had a visit from Alford on Oct 8 and now saying he visited (sic) us for an unofficial visit on Nov 9, 2019. Time travel reporting is now a thing? I think we should understand that as Gibbs has set an unofficial visit for the Maryland game. Sure hoping we have the RB suspense wrapped up before the end of the year.
I noticed that too, the time travel. Gibbs has film that makes you go wow-he’s got some Dalvin Cook in him.
Heard on a OSU talk show that we might not take a rb in this class. The Staff is happy with Chambers and Crowley plus we have Gill and Hooker who I feel after watching him in high school is a better rb than a db. Why reach out to a player who may never challenge for a starting spot here. This would open the door for another spot of need.
I have to think we take at least one. Also, I don't see Alford flying to Georgia if he doesn't really like what he sees in Gibbs. I'd say thats several steps beyond reaching out.
Gibbs or Lloyd would be electric in our offense. Failing those two, I think I’d agree with your take.
Also, I hadn’t considered Hooker at RB. I wonder if that is being discussed?
Fields of Dreams
The guy no one’s talking about who could be our ace in the hole for RB is Cameron Martinez. He rushed for 715 yards in four of undefeated Muskegon’s six games (179 ypg). He’s dynamic with the ball in his hands and wouldn’t be the first HS QB to end up at RB (see Cam Akers and David Montgomery). According to MaxPreps, he’s listed on his HS roster at 6-0/195, which makes him 20 pounds heavier than 247 has him listed at and about the same size as Jahmyr Gibbs. He’d also give us a weapon at wildcat. I know he’s expected to play safety but we also have Lathan Ransom and there’s been noise Jaiden Francois could be a safety if he and Ryan Watts both sign on. Then there’s Lejond Cavazos, who wants to play cornerback but is playing safety at IMG. I could see Martinez ending up on the offensive side of the ball.
Here’s Martinez in Muskegon's season opening win against De La Salle and Grant Toutant. He ran for 184 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries in a 42-7 win. Go ahead: someone tell why me he can’t play RB.
His ability to jump from one angle to another is ungodly. Burst is also lightning quick. If he could hold 25 lbs of extra muscle without losing any quick twitch? Hell why not
Martinez won’t play RB here and we absolutely will take one in this class
Bucks19 has spoken. The future is now absolute. We can move on now. Nothing to see here.
I was so looking forward to seeing Cam decapitate people, but you just made me imagine him breaking ankles AND stiff arming the heads off of people...which...is...even...better. I'm sold.
Lejond is playing corner at IMG
Not according to Zack Carpenter in his 10/9 Hurry up:
(Francois) is being recruited at safety since Lanthan Ransom is the only pure safety in the 2020 class and Cavazos is most likely moving from safety to cornerback in college.
I watched him play Mccord’s team, he was definitely playing corner in that game
Pretty sure I've read a blurb/quote where Cavazos talks about playing corner this season for IMG. Perhaps he's playing both. Perhaps I dreamed he was playing corner, which would be an odd thing to dream about.
Aren't dreams only odd if they are not odd?
He’s playing corner not safety, corner. I read an article about him and Rucks with Cavazos getting thrown at vs the other side but that may be changing, as he is doing very well
IIRC he played safety the last 2 years, playing corner this year.
This could be an alternative, like this idea. Cam is so talented, he could become our nex Chris Gamble
I'm not going to anoint anyone the next Chris Gamble until they show it in the Horseshoe. Gamble is one of the most underrated/underappreciated GREAT players in both tOSU and NFL history. One of the humblest as well.
Styx, read it again, I said could be, lol not as in is. I was lucky enough to watch both Chris in the shoe and in Charlotte at Panther stadium
Not sure that we see the next Chris Gamble anytime soon (though I believe there are some talented enough kids to do it). This team has been recruiting at such a high level and has constantly had to playmakers waiting in the wings. Just seems hard to see them having a kid sit in both offensive and defensive meetings when they are as loaded as they are.
I really enjoy reading these recruiting forum posts, but is it really necessary to grey out so many posts? I see posts from people with absolutely no substance that are off topic, even attacking other posters, that don't get greyed out, but a post like this with a legitimate opinion gets greyed out. Why? I think AE even stated in a previous post that there were comments deleted that had legit recruiting questions.
I think posts get 'greyed out' when they receive a certain # of downvotes, 10 perhaps. That's always been my understanding at least.
I don't believe the number of downvotes is what gets them greyed out. It seems to be anything perceived as being negative or not in alignment with the general position. I don't think someone's post should be greyed out just because you don't like it or agree with it. I appreciate the moderating of the board, as I know it's time consuming, but I feel like they censoring posts is getting a bit out of hand.
It absolutely has to do with the number of down votes a post receives and nothing to do a moderator disliking a post and greying it out himself.
DVs absolutely cause the post to be greyed out. Having said that, imo, the mods sometimes get too heavy-handed in their censoring of comments that they feel have even the slightest hint of a whiff of a scintilla of even remotely bordering on a violation of site policy. I'm guessing that's the case, at least, because some comments that have been deleted have dumbfounded me, and upon politely and professionally inquiring as to why a particular post was removed so that the language/sentiment used can be avoided in the future, you get no reply. At least that's my experience. In addition, there are some members on here who blatantly and repeatedly call people names, insult them over disagreements of opinion, and throw fits... and they're allowed to continue that behavior with no interference or repercussions from the mods while other seemingly harmless posts are deleted for no apparent reason.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
People are fast and loose w the DVs in these threads. I've just gotten used to it. On these threads, you can and will get DV'd because people disagree with your opinion. Such is life.
"I don't think you necessarily have to get a trophy to be a winner." - Nick Saban 1/2/15.
DVing is for pussies
I totally agree. Unless I am the one giving the DV
Damn it feels good to be a Buckeye
A post with more than 10 DVs, yet it isn't greyed out... WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN???
Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory... lasts forever.
Bingo. The DVers are far more prevalent and touchy in the recruiting threads for some reason.
-10 equals gray out. Or grey out, if you're English.
There are posts in Part 71 with no votes at all that are greyed out and others with less than 10 downvotes greyed out. Even allowing the downvote crowd to dictate what gets greyed out seems odd. If it violates the policy then delete it, but why remove an opinion just for being unpopular? Anyway, just my 2 cents. Let's get back to talking about Bijan.
Stop with the Mod conspiracy already. -10 equals grayout. Sometimes it takes the site longer to do it, I don't know why. Just like when a thread hit's -10, it lingers but eventually falls off. And that's the entire point of the gray-out. Not to be deleted, but letting poster know where it stands. And helps the community find those who are constantly getting grayed-out, ie trolls.
Mods don't have the ability to gray out, other than give the final vote to get to the -10.
I'm not sure why but grey'd out comments make me stop, wonder and then read them.
Kind of like a car accident I guess.
I don't want to look but for some reason I do anyway.
Definitely not a Mod conspiracy, I was just pointing out that the 10 downvotes did not appear to be correct based on the fact that there were posts with no votes greyed out and others with less than 10. Also there are some with 10+ downvotes and 10+ upvotes greyed out. That doesn't make sense. If your post has 100 upvotes and 10 downvotes, does it get greyed out? The post that I referenced above didn't have 10 downvotes and it was greyed out, yet when I brought it up, someone put it back to normal print.
Pretty sure at negative 5 it lightens to the grey color then locks at negative 10. But um I'm not an expert and didn't stay at a holiday inn Express.
Just got you to +10. Nothing happened. /s
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
I'll take things that don't matter and have been beaten to death for 100, Alex.
When a post hits -10 net votes it locks the voting to avoid piling on and accumulating say -150 on a single post, hence why you see greyed out posts that appear to have no votes at all. So 10 downvotes and 10 upvotes is a net of 0, so it looking normal is how the system is supposed to work.
A post hitting -10 net votes is 100%, definitively, the only way for it to be greyed out. Mods do not even have that capability.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Thank you. That makes more sense now. That's all I was asking originally.
I'm going through and downvoting every comment in this conversation
Didn't want you to feel left out:)
As if anyone cares about your downvotes. Such a bunch a fragile weirdos on comment boards.
Nothing attracts downvotes than bitching about downvotes; otherwise, if you're going to venture into the octagon, you'd better be prepared to take some shots.
A whole conversation on upvotes and downvotes in a recruiting thread is a perfect example on why people's comments get Gray'd out
So, with the Cali law and impending NCAA fight on players getting paid for their likeness, and the argument that maybe it will just take what is happening under the table and bring it above board, I have a legit question for people with actual stories to tell:
What do we think the booster/bagmen at cheating top football programs are offering prospects? What kind of money or other thing? How much does this happen?
I legitimately don't know. It's been exposed in basketball - but that is a sport where one player can make a program. And we saw some of the stuff with Ole Miss get exposed. But how prevalent is this, how much money are boosters offering at bad-faith schools? Does anyone have any stories based on things players, recruits or coaches have told them?
Here is a great story that interviews a bag man and tells how the process works. It is one of the best college football pieces I have ever read
Thanks for this link - I am going to check it out! I know we throw around the "bag men" stuff here but I want to better understand what actually happens.
That was a very interesting read, regardless of personal feelings on the paying of players. Thanks for the share!
I am not sure it will change much, as I do not know the specifics of how much they can make under these laws or whatever. It is still pretty limited in scope. So, I do not think somebody could give a kids family 100k and it be ok or a car or something. There is probably grey area about quite a bit of it still anyway.
It could really help Urban's recruiting at USC.
Jack Miller to USC to play for Urban confirmed.
Well if you believe the former Clemson basketball assistant coach, their football team gets away with murder as far taking care of kids.
but that’s only if you believe the federal wiretaps
Three more crystal balls for Ryan Watts to Ohio State. Two from Oklahoma insiders and one from a national analyst.
Birm also said on the latest Talking Stuff that he expects a Ryan Watts commitment sooner rather than later.
Birm also said on the latest Talking Stuff that he expects a Ryan Watts commitment sooner rather than later.
I'm pretty sure he already decommited from OU
Love Watts. What's the consensus opinion on Jaiden Francois? Predictions?
Seems a bit slow to play CB here and I'm not sure we need another S given how much we play 2 safeties. Having said that I'm not going to complain if they take him. They sure as hell know better than me.
Per Birm, Coach Yurcich paid a friendly visit to Jack Miller and watched him throw. Miller to attend the Wisconsin game with his family and sit down with Coach Day. Sounds like our coaches are doing this right and being transparent, attentive.
But the Miller / Stroud / Sawyer battle for QB1 gonna be sparks. /s
If they don't use Sawyer in a wildcat goal line package, my faith in this coaching staff will be gone.
Regardless of who is the better quaterback, Jack Miller is a leader. His interaction with other recruits and his recruiting efforts on behalf of the class speak for themselves. I really hope we can keep him in this class - he would be a great addition to the QB room.
Per BK...Leroux has cut about 30 pounds and will enroll early. He will not be a gray shirt and will be in this class. Seems to have changed his lifestyle.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Good for him! That's awesome.
That’s great news! The kid is huge and could be a great asset down the line. Good for him!
Great to hear!
I am here for the same reason you are.
Well done kid! Hope to see you become a road grader at OT and make all the idiots whining about your commitment over the past months look stupid.
There was a thread a few back where it had some chatter on either a Rivals or 247 board with a member of his family saying he was taking it seriously. I hope that is the case. He is a big man with good feet. Could be a real sleeper in the class if he does in fact keep everything in line and in control
Very nice--this dedication to working towards a goal will help--especially when coach Mick gets hold of him. He could become a beast!
It was all part of his plan. Get overweight have fans doubt his scholarship offer to the point the coaches give him an ultimatum. Only to turn around and use that as motivation to get in the best shape of his life, enroll early, and dominate his line class from day 1 on his way to being an All American and #1 draft pick in the 2022 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.
Thats pretty mean to wish the Bengals on the kid. Come on man...
As a Bengals fan, I want offensive line studs. As a Bengals fan, I feel sorry for those we draft.
Jonah Williams, can’t miss prospect leading up to the draft. Gets drafted by the Bengals, has shoulder surgery before he ever plays a game and is likely out for the year...
emotionally exhausted and morally bankrupt
And I believe he never missed a game at Bama. We are cursed.
College game checks weren’t guaranteed if you were injured.
Ohio State > *ichigan
Urban > Hairbaugh
I watched Jack Miller's game last night. They came back from 2 scores down in the 4th quarter. Scored
touchdowns on their last 3 possessions I believe. I fast forwarded and watched every single offensive snap and I'll have to say there is absolutely no way that you can give him a proper evaluation by watching his games. Literally being chased for his life on virtually every single dropback. I don't recall seeing a 4 man rush all night. 5 and 6 guys coming every play. He made some nice reads and throws and was also bailed out by very good adjustments and catches by his receivers on a couple of passes. Not sure what his stats were but he put up pretty good numbers. He looked pretty good on designed rollouts in which he made some pretty strong throws. He did have 1 pick in the endzone on a long pass that the defender made a heck of a catch on. I'm guessing this is the blueprint that the rest of their schedule will follow. Blitz, blitz and more blitzing. Stay safe Jack.
It’s the same story as last year: calling Chaparral’s OL porous is an understatement. I have no doubts about Milker’s ability, grit and determination. It’s getting to Columbus in good health that concerns me.
Watch out for Milker and Miyazaki in the backfield together...
Calm and collected with the game on the line and under constant pressure. Sounds like someone other players would want to give their all for.
Graduating and Enrolling Early:
Jack Miller, Fleming, JSN, Gee Scott, Mookie, Paris, Leroux, Henry, Cowan, Cavazos, Phillips, and Kourt
12? That’s got be a record.
I don't mind close to half the class getting into the fitness and training provided by Coach Mick earlier an usual.
Thrilled to see the WRs and DBs enrolling early. We may need some freshman contributions from those positions next year.
Those WRs can't wait to get here and start getting coached up by Hartline. Olave, Wilson, Williams, Fleming, JSN, Gee, Cooper. Talent level will be unmatched by anyone in the country.
Depending on who all leaves early Phillips and Cavazos could get important playing time next year as well.
Also I expect Paris to be at worst the 1st Backup Tackle, and really challenge for a starting spot.
Birm with the "shocked face emoji" on Twitter (apologies that I have no idea how to imbed). When asked if it's recruiting related Birm replied "yes". No idea if this is 2020 or 2021 related but I wanted to share. I'll follow-up if/when he elaborates.
East Coast living with Ohio roots
My guess is Watts committed.
If he’s shocked it means watts isn’t coming here, assuming the face is watts related.
I see that right around the time Birm tweeted that, ND announced they landed a top flight 2021 WR. I wonder if this has an impact on Lorenzo Styles (2021) going to ND? I have no idea what their 2021 class looks like though.
The shocked face might be that he actually committed there himself. I believe he's on a visit there.
Could be I suppose. But isn’t it pretty much a consensus that he was not coming to OSU? And that ND was the likely landing spot. AE has had his CB for Styles to ND since last week I believe.
Yeah I don't think styles would be shock-worthy....but maybe it is shocking to some others
Ryan Day the goat....and yes I pee on ttun all the time.
Could be sarcastic shock face. Styles is very high on ND and there for tonight’s game. Tippy toes Sanders son went there think Styles will too unless he wants to be a db
ND just landed the 21’ WR from Athens, Georgia. I would imagine that’s what it is about. Unless a tOSU commit decommits, nothing’s shocking from 21’.
— Jeremy Birmingham (@Birm) October 12, 2019
Some are missing the possibility, what appears to be the case “Sarcasm “. That looks more like that use but we shall see soon enough
You're supposed to put your emoji in italics if it is a sarcastic emoji.
I’d be surprised if a “shocked” face was for Styles. It’s not that shocking that he’d commit to ND...
Sure this isn't UGA upset related?
Birm would not tweet that unless it was something he was in absolutely no way expecting.
It's a beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio... and TTUN still sucks.
I don’t read that as shocked, as much as horrified. It is the scream.
In terms of emojis that one definitely implies he is shocked.
Somebody needs to put up the Bat Signal for AE or Zach.
He could have went to a very scary haunted house today. It’s that time of year...
Just an FYI, Ryan Watts was favoriting a ton of OU related tweets from today. Maybe he had a change of heart and recommitted there silently? Idk.
He’s in Texas and it’s Red River Weekend-he’s not gonna be giving UT love........
Yeah, doesn’t look very promising. He liked a #Boomer tweet from Grinch today, among many other OU-related tweets..
1.) Watts is not completely changing his mind because of watching one game on television
2.) Everyone needs to pump the breaks on OU’s defense being “revolutionized”. They gave up 310 yards versus Texas which honestly should have been 500 yards if Texas WRs could catch the damn ball. Also, Texas O line is terrible....also Sam Ehlinger is not good. I’d love to play OU, I think we or any SEC team would beat them.
I’m fine with OU getting pumped up by the media. They’ll get wrecked against a team with a pulse on defense. They also don’t have kyler 4.2-4.3 40 who scrambles and has the arm to chuck it on the go which made that game against Alabama look closer than it was.
Yep, I really don’t get it. They’re a good team but to say they’re “back” defensively after one game is absurd. They’re barely in the top 50 in total defense and those 9 sacks they had yesterday still doesn’t even put them in the top 50 of total team sacks. Everyone just wants to force change the narrative. Texas should have had way more total yards in that game if their WRs didn’t drop every other ball. Also, the Texas o line was Swiss cheese. Longhorns are one of the more overrated teams in the Top 25.
Doesn't look very promising..
Hey URBAN_CAN_RECRUIT, how about you shut up and stop speculating. Obviously you have no freaking clue because the kid just committed to the Bucks.
If it’s bad news, why wouldn’t Birm scoop it? But if it’s good news, I can see why he’d play it coy so he doesn’t steal someone’s thunder. Of course, it could be completely unrelated to anything we fans consider relevant.
These recruiting guys hold back news all the time. Even if it's bad news for the good guys.
I need to know what this shocked emoji is for. Yo my main man AE, what's the word on the street? What's the birds chirping about?
Interpreting an insider’s vague post is certainly part of the fun, but I think Birm was joking yesterday. In the past couple months every time he posted a reactionary gif or emoji on Twitter he has had to quickly clarify that it wasn’t related to recruiting. Yesterday’s looked a lot like a reaction to the SCar/GA game.
(see mom, I told you my minor in Egyptian hieroglyphics wasn’t a waste of time!)
He said it was recruiting related on his comments when someone asked.
Which one is it Birm
— Jeremy Birmingham (@Birm) October 12, 2019
It was not meaningless.
It was a reaction to South Carolina intercepting Georgia in the first overtime yesterday.

"I couldn't sleep at all last night
Got to thinkin' of Birm's tweet
Birm, things weren't right
Well I was tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
A tossin' and turnin' all night
I kicked the blankets on the floor
Turned my pillow upside down
I never never did before
'Cause I was tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
A-tossin' and turnin' all night
Jumped out of bed
Turned on the light
I pulled down the shade
Went to the kitchen for a bite
Rolled up the shade
Turned off the light
I jumped back into bed
It was the middle of the night
The clock downstairs was strikin' four
Couldn't get Birm off my mind
I heard the milkman at the door
'Cause I was tossin' and turnin'
Turnin' and tossin'
A tossin' and turnin' all night"
I have to assume you’re joking, 2 weeks ago everyone thought Watts was dead at coming to OSU now we are in there, god it’s great being a Buckeye fan
Love that song!
Lol i didn't see the second reply he had. Wtf
Birm's tweet was NOT about recruiting. He was tweeting about UGA game, clearly in real time. The person asking him about if its recruiting is a Letterman Row employee trolling because everything he tweets gets that question in response.
Maybe he is subtly hinting that such a poor offensive showing by GA is causing Milton to rethink his commitment to play for Kirby Notsosmart and is now a surefire commit to the good guys? /s
Watts officially decommits from Oklahoma per his Twitter. He will not be a sooner.
Wait didn't he decommit almost two weeks ago?
Well looks like there was in fact a reason he tweeted about it today. BOOM!
Huge fan of Watts. Closest thing physically to Elias Ricks.
Quite confident that Hafley can turn this guy into a top 50 pick. He can teach technique and fundamentals, but he can't teach 6'2.5" , 4.59 forty yard dash, and 4.07 shuttle.
Now hoping for the Gibbs, Baron, and Stroud trifecta to put a bow on this incredible first class for a first time head coach.
and lets be real, the .01% chance of a ricks flip also might be the perfect ribbon for this christmas present class
I'm right there with you crossing my fingers.... I can be told by 100 insiders that he is sticking with LSU, but if Elias Ricks takes his visit to Columbus, one never knows
Right there with you guys, but even without Ricks this class has exceeded my expectations for Day’s first class
im still a little hurt we havent gotten any recent updates on Ringo
You have a better chance of winning the lottery than that kid coming to Ohio state.
If Elias Ricks had NEVER heard of Ohio State as of today, I still think that an 18-year old changing his mind completely randomly is more likely than winning the lottery, nevermind the fact that he is literally taking an official visit.
In the 2021 thread someone linked a video from yesterday about Birm talking about recruiting and he mentions Ringo and Ricks. Says its highly unlikely either is a Buckeye but both are such great prospects that the staff will keep trying with both. I think a lot of us felt Ricks might be a realistic option if LSU had a rough season. Obviously the opposite has happened in Baton Rouge thus far.
Ringo is going to Georgia. And, as Brim said, he is going there for many reasons
I get Georgia is good but what are the “many reasons”? Call me naive but I thought Georgia just developed a better relationship with the kid than we did and he will decide to go there because of that. As BG says relationships win out in this business.
"Many" is a quantity of a single reason.
New Day for OSU. Same noon for TTUN.
This class hasn't exceeded my expectations. tOSU is one of those schools that basically recruits itself if the staff is on it's game professionally. The "analysts" can talk about cookie cakes and relationships and being the best recruiter ever, but what it comes down to at tOSU, Bama, Texas, etc. is making the sure the on field brand lives up to the expected quality-and Hafley and Day have done that and then some. PJ Fleck can row his damn boat at Minnesota all he wants-he still has to recruit for the Gophers.
Why on earth did this get 10 DVs? Seriously, I don’t understand how this take caused that much butthurt and consternation.
Probably people misreading your meaning in that first sentence.
Idiots gonna be idiots. If tOSU football has a steady hand on the wheel, recruiting should never be a problem-and it certainly hasn’t been under Coach Day. I do suspect that some of the fan base who slobbered over Urban’s recruiting prowess are a tad bit salty over Day’s success b/c it shows that Urban’s recruiting success wasn’t a case of him being bigger than the tOSU program and “outkicking his coverage” so to speak.
I’m not sure I agree with you. When urban literally juices a class a couple weeks after being hired (at least in rankings) I believe that’s enough for them to hang their hats on that he’s a cut above in terms of recruiting. He changed how our school attacked recruiting and Day is able to take advantage of it even if he changes the area of focus from fla/ga to the west coast, it’s the same national approach.
Just heard Darnay Holmes may have entered the transfer portal. No confirmation at this point.
Do we probe for interest?
Who can forget his commitment? It forever gave us the best OSU gif ever...
Bet he wishes he listened to that kid.
Sure. Depending on how the NCAA rules, he could be a plug & play. Why not?
Haven't really been following UCLA football much because they have been very bad. Has Holmes been a really good player for them?
Not to poopoo this but people do realize Darnay is draft eligible right? Same class year as Okudah and Wade.
Why would he enter the transfer portal if he's going to the draft? He wouldn't be able to workout at UCLA if he did that. If he is indeed entering the portal..
Probably because he’s not NFL ready and his current school has not prepared him.
Right now he’s not predicted to go in top 2 rounds. Have a good year at OSU, LSU, or Bama and put up some good film he’ll go top 10.
I remember reading something along the lines that Holmes is in line to graduate super early. I don’t know how the rules work for grad transfer kids with 2 years left? But I think he would be able to play next year without having to get a waiver.
Burrow was a grad transfer with 2 years of eligibility remaining. Holmes should also have immediate eligibility if he is a grad transfer. I believe this year would count as his redshirt season since he only played in 4 games.
This isn't a 2020 recruit, but I'm not starting a new topic and didn't know where else to put it.
A friend of mine is a Georgia fan and says that Mathis might end up a medical hardship.
That's been an interesting ride, for sure. Never like to hear that kids have to stop playing for their health.
For those of you like me that had forgotten, Mathis underwent emergency brain surgery in May for a life threatening cyst. I'm assuming a medical hardship would be related.
Mathis underwent emergency brain surgery in May for a life threatening cyst.
Which means the NCAA likely won't grant him any additional eligibility......
They already put Missouri on probation, what else do you want?
Mathis underwent emergency brain surgery in May for a life threatening cyst
As many UGA and other SEC fans did for a certain high profile member of the CFB community battling a serious brain cyst, I presume they will all call Mathis out for faking headaches and call him a quitter, right?
In all seriousness though, I hope the kid has a speedy recovery. No such thing as routine brain surgery.
Feel bad for the kid but you can't help but to feel that we may have dodged a bullet when he went elsewhere.
You're an idiot. Why even post this?
And on fourth and one... would you believe?
Not saying that your source is wrong but here is an article from today
With Watts, the 2020 class stands at 24 commitments. How many scholarships do we have remaining to use?
Not even the coaching staff know for sure at this point.
I find that very hard to believe.
I doubt if the staff knows Wade’s intentions for sure. Heck, on the OL Mumford, Davis, and Myers are all draft eligible-and have the film to be drafted.......
I can buy this take. I took the original statement as the staff didn't know if there was a hard 25 max limit or not.
Things can change but word on the street is Munford has already told the staff he was coming back. I honestly see all three of those guys back.
I'd be surprised if Davis came back. A respected draft analyst on Twitter last week called him the best interior OL he's seen so far during the college football season.
1st team Midseason All-American OG according to PFF
Davis would be the one I would most expect to declare early out of the three for sure. The only reason I expect them all back is you just don't see interior o-lineman come out early very often and like I said, I heard Munford already told the staff he was returning.
Where did you hear this about Munford? Him coming back would give us maybe the best Oline in the country next year
BH on Bucknuts, so take it with a grain of salt, but still, smoke there that he's coming back.
I would hate to lose Davis after only one year as a starter. I wonder if he was better than Knox or Pridgeon and they choose seniority over talent (he was a 5 star coming out of high school)?
I certainly hope you are correct. If all 3 return, next year’s OL won’t skip a beat, with Miller grabbing Jackson’s spot.
IIRC every OSU lineman who left before their eligibility was up, started for at least 3 years.
The ones I can remember are Pace and Michael Jordan.
We will end up at 27-28 commits when it is all said and done.
My money is on 27.5 commits
Seibert counts as .5 so you may win.
Somewhere between 2 and 20.
ESPN has bumped Fleming up to its #1 prospect for 2020
I changed my mind.
espn has the best recruit rankings now.
What?! ESPN moved an OSU commit up? Confirmed he’s flipping to Penn State - Someone on here
Now if only they'd move Gee Scott Jr into the top 50, then he would be a composite five star.
They have Gee Scott at 198 overall and the 30th best WR in the country... Outside of having Fleming at #1, their rankings weren’t overly kind for our Buckeyes (not that it matters).
It's a mix of good and bad. They have some of our top guys ranked lower than 247 but they also have Wypler, Cowan, and Henry higher than 247 plus have Toutant and Cavazos in their top 300 as 4*s.
I’m not saying it’s ESPN bias. They just are overall less positive/high on the class compared to the composite. The composite has 8 guys in the class in the top 76 nationally. The ESPN rankings has 3 OSU commits in the top 32 and then not another one until 92. As you said according to ESPN the middle off the class is on par and in some cases ranked higher than the composite, they just don’t seem to be as high on the “top” guys in the class. Different strokes for different folks, ultimately doesn’t matter.
Yup, definitely seems that way. ESPN is the least apt to make major changes in its rankings, because they don't have many in house employees actually watching these players. The bad with that is a guy like Scott who has obviously done what he needs to rise up to the top 50 may not get the bump there.
On the flip side 247 sometimes is too quick to drop a guy way too far as they did with Henry due to a poor performance when injured at a camp. I feel like this makes ESPN a good anchor ranking for 247 and Rivals for the composite. They definitely aren't the best but because their rankings tend to be more conservative (not moving guys around as much) they counterbalance when 247 or Rivals overreacts to one performance.
I don't think that's recent. They haven't updated their rankings in a while.
Little late on this but just listened to 247's Recruiting podcast from last Friday, Greg Biggins spoke w/ Stroud after Yurcich visited him and his offer went public. Biggins said Stroud is likely playing basketball and won't be graduating or signing early. Stroud said likely the only way he would graduate early is if he were going to a situation where he was going to be competing for a starting job as a Freshman, which wouldnt be at Ohio State. Ohio State, Baylor, and Oregon the 3 favorites as has been reported, and he'll be visiting Oregon with Justin Flowe. Biggins thought if signing day were today, it'd be Ohio State, but this one has a long way to go.
Not really OSU related, but could be sign that FSU's class is starting to fall apart.

Sounds like the bridge is burned with Knighton.
Would the staff take Toafili's call if he asked if OSU would be interested?
Yep, all the more reason to like the staff's mantra of "don't reach". Something unexpected, and perhaps even big, may open up down the line.
The first of several
Honestly surprised it took this long. They were not good last year or the year before that. I imagine the coaches sell kids on being part of helping the program get back to where it should be. Then they go out and get curbed stomped by most teams and it does not even look like slight improvements anywhere.
Is there any update on RB recruiting? Do people still feel like Gibbs is a probable commit, or is that a toss up? I don't recall hearing any recent feedback on Alford visiting him.....could just be a quiet time I guess, but figured I'd ask...
I know an article earlier in the day had some bits drop that the hurry up tonight would delve into the RB recruiting, so maybe we'll find out soon!
Birm is "confident" we take a 2020 RB. The coaching staff has "slowed down" the process to identify the right take.
Gibbs could be that guy, but I think we should not expect him to tip his hand until after he visits for the Maryland game. Like Miyan Williams, he is already committed elsewhere. Usual de-commit etiquette seems to include a few weeks of liking tweets from the old coach before dropping a new commitment announcement.
Also, Birm reports that Cam Martinez will not be playing RB. There was no satisfying answer why, but I think it's safe to conclude it's because he'll be too busy playing quarterback.
Found it awesome that Martinez went to the staff and offered to do it for whatever is best for the team.
I love how much day values the character of the kids he is recruiting. Doesn't matter the talent level, if you don't fit the culture day wants you aren't coming here. I don't think there is a single kid in this class that has any character red flags.
Not only that, every player that I've seen interviewed after practices, they're ALL very high character guys with humility, maturity, class and dignity. This team seems to be focused and locked in. I continue to be very impressed with our culture. Culture and leadership go such a long way. When you combine those two components with talented depth at nearly every position, you know something special is brewing.
Our objective is simple: to make the state of Ohio proud.
He’s one of those kids that the recruiting guys just trip over themselves to compliment, from both a talent and character standpoint. One thing that is definitely clear is that the staff LOVES him. Excited to see what he can do when he gets here. Strikes me as a kid that’ll end up being a captain at some point, and probably someone we hear a lot from in interviews ala Jordan Fuller
I know we don't like ESPN but here is some updates that were said about couple Buckeye commits/targets in their new update.
QB CJ Stroud made arguably the most improvement of any QB during the Elite 11. Physically he has the goods, but for some reason he has seen very little Power 5 attention throughout the recruiting process. Why? Time will tell as coaches continue to scrutinize the intangible size of the position. However, among his peers Stroud belonged and proved his worth for an ESPN 300 ranking.
It's rare to see a wide receiver ranked No. 1 overall as the talent pool at that position is much deeper. However, Fleming comes from a different mold. He is a big, explosive target who blends a dangerous combination of size and athleticism. He's a matchup nightmare for smaller corners and will win the speed matchup against safeties and linebackers. Beyond his measurables and playmaking ability, Fleming also has demonstrated impact tools without the ball in his hands as a blocker and team leader.
Four receivers in the top 300 players in one class, including the #1 player in the country, is genuinely ridiculous.
One reason among many that RBs should think hard about Columbus: it is going to be very difficult to stack the box and play single coverage.
Which is why it is baffling a top-end RB wouldn't want to run in this offense.
Every time I try and make sense of the Bijan Robinson and Jaylan Knighton fiasco, My brain just can’t comprehend it. Robinson really hurts, he is having a monster senior season, and looks like the #1 RB in the country. Hopefully between Teague, Crowley, and Chambers we have our future all B10 type back
Don’t try and make sense of it. There are some teams that pride themselves in doing it the right way and others that do whatever it takes. Just watching the Cavs game last night and brad Stevens raved about guys like belein bc “you knew it was going to be a fair fight. He has always done things the right way”. No different in football.
Not to rain on the "OSU does it the right way" parade but we have our fair share of boosters.
They need to come a little stronger next time
Some things go past picking the system that is best for the player. Robinson and his family obviously had other priorities outside of the ideal football fit. Unfortunately that worked against Bijan becoming a Buckeye.
Look at Justin Fields as an example. Picking Georgia and sticking with them when they had a true freshman starting QB who was leading UGA to the national title game didn't make much sense. Luckily for the Buckeyes he did or he would currently be the starting QB at PSU, which was a much better situation for him coming out of HS. But we see kids pick schools that aren't the ideal fit for them all the time.
Fields ever going to UGA never made sense to me. Fortunately he did as it ultimately ended up well for us. However, UGA has been a conservative run first old style offense for 20 years that had the prototypical QB for that system that just led them to the NC game (and was a crazy play from winning it). Fields would not have ever fit their system without some wholesale changes to their approach.
Praise the lord the 2019 game versus Psu is not Tate Martell/Baldwin vs Psu led by Fields. The Gods made the chips fall in our favor on that day.
I just hope Fields wipes his ass with the Kitty's since it will burn even more as he was once committed there.
Those who say they can and those who say they can't are both right. Which one are you?
I agree, but anyone that watched Fields' QB1 segments and understands overall hometown recruiting. It's not easy to be the star of the community that eats, sleeps, and breathes Georgia football and then turn around and say no to them. Whether it's the right decision or not, it's not easy.
Don't think it's been mentioned yet but Mookie Cooper was ruled ineligible to play his senior season. He transferred from St. Louis Trinity Catholic to Pattonville High School, also in St. Louis, in order to graduate and enroll early in college. Kind of a bummer for the kid but could be a positive too. The full story was in Birm's column from yday:
Another 5-star enters the transfer portal. Antonio Alfano was Bama's highest recruit for 2019. Saban says he 'quit'. Maybe LJ can inspire him, he's a Jersey kid.

I see he one of his recruiters was Josh Gattis. UM fans prolly thinking he will end up in AA now.
I think most were assuming psu.
I actually think Rutgers has a chance for him as his grandmother is on life support; it could be that a life event like this gets him to stay close to home.
PSU would be logical, too, given the distance.
I think this was touched on in a prior version of this thread but OSU basically stopped recruiting him after we were a leader for him and I don't think it had anything to do with his ability as a player. Given that and the way things went south immediately at Bama I'd be pretty surprised if the Buckeyes get involved here.
He transferred from Rahway to Colonia in February 2018, in the middle of his junior year. That was after he’d just transferred to Rahway after two years at Bergen Catholic the prior August. There’s this nagging voice in my head that says he got involved in some sort of controversy (maybe a fight?) but it must be my imagination or I’m thinking of someone else because I’ve scoured Google and come up with nothing.
There is your proof. If your good enough, you WILL play at Ohio State. Our (3) 5-Star recruits are all making an impact. Can't say that about many of the others.
Checking in on 2019's 5-star prospects at halfway point
The biggest thing that stood out to me with that was good lord Georgia's 2019 recruiting class was absurd.
Has there been any word on whether the staff will pursue Darnay Holmes or not? With Okudah gone and Wade likely gone next year, I think Holmes could make an instant impact next year. If I recall correctly, he's graduated from UCLA, so he would have immediate eligibility.
I asked Birm, we’ll see if he addresses haha.
Marc and Alex at Rivals both think OSU will be interested and reach out.
Holmes would make a lot of sense. Good chance the Buckeyes lose 3 CBs and Holmes would have far more experience than anyone currently on roster. Plus we didn't get a CB in last year's class so he could help bridge that gap.
Holmes would be next year’s Jonah Jackson in my opinion. He’s a great talent at a lesser school who has immediate eligibility and could fill in a major gap on the roster. He could potentially fill the hole of Okudah quite well, then Cam Brown, Sevyn Banks, and Josh Proctor would fill the rest of the secondary.
Add in a rotation with the incoming freshmen and the secondary may only take a small step back next year when they otherwise would have taken a big step back.
Darnay Holmes is the best Player on UCLA. Maybe one of the best in the entire PAC 12. OSU would be crazy to not reach out.
Buckeye Til I Die
He might have been the best his freshman season as well
Look at Paris just clowning this team. Especially poor #7. Mr. Johnson is an absolute monster. Can’t wait until he gets to C-Bus.

I kinda curious to see how he would do as a D lineman.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he playing against his old team in Fairfield here before transferring to Princeton? Or am I thinking of Carman that played for Fairfield, because I know he did.
You’re thinking of Carman, who played for Fairfield. Johnson transferred to Princeton from St. Xavier so he could graduate early. FWIW, Fairfield won in a rout, 36-13.
I can’t see why Holmes would transfer and not just enter the draft. He’ll run the risk of not even being eligible next season if he doesn’t graduate early from UCLA
He's already graduated from UCLA. He'll have immediate eligibility no matter what.
He’s a third year junior...but you’re saying he already graduated with a four-year degree, which means he did it in two years? Sorry but I’m calling bullshit on whatever your source is for that information. Now, that’s not to say he won’t graduate in three years ala Joe Burrow but he’s probably going to need a semester and maybe two to do that
I don't understand how he did it either.... probably found some loophole and jumped right through it.
Could have come in with a bunch of college credit via AP classes...I didn't even take an absurd load and had 25 credit hours coming into OSU.
FWIW I had a friend that started college with 58 credits... basically starting freshman year as a Junior. Not typical obviously! Many of my friends came in with between 15 and 30 credits though.
So assuming he’s started with between 15-30 credits and started a semester early he should have completed 15*6 in addition to summer classes 10*2 with credits coming in around 20. Totaling 130. Enough to graduate in any Undergrad degree...
I apologize for the mathematics. This is obviously based off of many assumptions but just trying to show how it’s not all that unbelievable, these days it’s how it works.
I wonder if he took extra classes during the times he was out hurt? He's been out a lot.
The way I understand it, student athletes at most schools take classes year round, including in the winter and summer. This makes the season less strenuous, as they can take a small class load during the fall.
This also allows most student athletes to get a lot more credits than normal students, which means, a lot of the time, they can graduate in only two or three years. Add in AP credits from high school and two years to graduate doesn’t seem that far-fetched.
My apologies: I stand corrected. Graduating in two years for anyone is off the charts, much less an athlete.
I guess they’re all for setting new standards at UCLA. I couldn’t help but notice the link to this story at the bottom:
In what one outlet that covers the team described as a purge, some 63 players (!!) have left (UCLA) since November 2017—a truly eye-opening number that is outside of the norm for most regime changes.
He's a third year junior...meaning he has been in school for wait for it...three years. He enrolled early. Happens all the time, see: Burrow, Joseph. Whether or not he has graduated already or will have at end of semester (which is my interpretation), doesn't really matter.
Edit: confirmed that UCLA is on quarters rather than semesters--offers a bunch more flexibility to load up on credit hours. He probably took an absurd amount during summers.
That can definitely be done, it's not even that much of a stretch if you really want to. Come in with a lot of AP credits, take a couple more credit hours per semester than normal 4 year students would, and take classes during the summer.
I think this is the same situation as Tate Martell. Same class.
It could, as well, be projecting that he is scheduled to graduate, but hasn't done so yet, so that wherever he ends up, he will be a graduate when he gets there.
Holmes is not even predicted to go in the top 2 rounds. If he comes and balls out at Ohio state for a year he will be a top 10 pick. That’s why he would come back for a year.
Was Holmes in wade and okudahs class or a year after ? I thought the year after?
Same class: the composite had Okudah 1, Wade 2, and Holmes 3.
Thanks lowa, I know we was going after all 3 hard that year, had to jog my memory
Holmes will have 2 years of eligibility left. He hasn’t used his redshirt yet which he would do this year and he’d be a RSJunior next year with immediate eligibility since he’s graduating.
Holmes and Rick's would ease a lot of minds about next years secondary. Still think there is a ultimatum with Rick's. If X player declares for the draft he may very well have a shot at starting here. If he were to commit I'd expect it very late in the process.
Unfortunately the same can be said at LSU for Ricks if Fulton declares (he will).
And they can back it up, considering their other starter is a true freshman
Ricks is not coming to OSU. Just not going to happen. I think he still has an official, I do not remember, but I see no reason he would jump ship at this point.
I am not really worried about the secondary next year. And I am not sure getting a guy in this years draft class and expecting them to be a first year starter is realistic. It is possible, but rare. There are talented guys already on the team that will more than likely step up. They will be depth at this point unless they just blow everybody away. Not even Wade and Okudah did that consistently at the start.
Stop talking about Elias Ricks, every single insider has no we have no shot
Oh, did he cancel his official visit?
The one hope is that Corey Raymond gets poached for a DC job prior to Ricks signing. There is a 98% chance Ricks signs with LSU, but as long as he's still taking his official here the door is certainly not shut.
And with the way their pass defense is playing (68th in the country), I don't foresee that happening.
LSU is still going to put another DB in round 1 (Delpit) and another possibly in round 1 and at worst round 2 (Fulton). Raymond will be a hot name this offseason again as he was this offseason, but he doesn't appear inclined to want to leave Baton Rouge.
Ohio State's pass defense last year ranked 86th and Grinch got the Oklahoma DC job, so…
When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.
They're in the same boat that we'll be in next year having lost Greedy Williams, John Battle, and Terrence Alexander to the NFL.
They do have Delpit this year and Stingley is a fucking stud. Raymond will probably stay in Baton Rogue, but others would have him.
Raymond isn’t leaving. Remember, Day offered him Haffley’s job when he was building his staff and was rumored to be at 1mil a year. You couldn’t ask for a better opportunity than that. In the end we found out that his wife makes even more than that and she was not at all up for leaving Baton Rouge.
What on earth does Raymond’s wife do in Baton Rogue?
If I recall, I believe it was something with pharmaceutical sales.
People still talk about bijan Robinson ...I think everyone will be fine.
I bijan in miracles.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see a Jahmyr Gibbs flip in the coming 3-5 days.
****INSERT COOKIE MONSTER GIF****
Hercules ‘disappointed gif’?
Ok...so he's not coming to OSU then. Shoot...on to the next I guess
Can they catch him? No they can't, touchdown.
So, he's not coming our way?
*AE tosses a panic grenade and bolts, maniacal laugher echoes in our nightmares*
Ryan "Spatula" Day excellent flipper
Hell yeah, his film is out of this world.
Braxton Miller, SPIN MOVE!!!
Georgia is getting a good one
LOL.....I was going to ask if this is good news for us
AE if it isn't in 3-5 days does that change the chances if it happens?
To TOSU? Or georgia?
Does he even have an offer from Georgia? I don't see anything on his 247 page about having an offer form them.
or Bama, I think he's going there this weekend.
Gibbs seems to be the best of the bunch. Like his film better than Knighton's
Would it even be worth getting a rb now with Gibbs likely going somewhere else? Why even reach at this point.
Far more likely they sign two than zero.
Yeah, gotta think that at this point, Day has to double down in terms of hoping one out of two pans out than betting all his chips on one guy when our best options are so far down the pecking order. Banking on Bijan, Milton, Gibbs, or Lloyd is one thing; putting all your eggs in one guy's basket based on who's left is another matter entirely.
Surprised he’s not even giving us a shot.
Also, UGA has 150 RBs on their roster.
Sounds like Georiga or Florida for Gibbs. Bama already has 2 RBs committed.
Are we going to be the last major program without a running back commit by the time Zach Evans makes a decision? Lol
A team with the current #2 rusher in the country, who could likely finish with 1,500 yards, and another back who’s 5th in the Big Ten in rushing on a team with championship potential is relegated to a 3* RB committed to Iowa State.
I usually not negative Nancy with recruiting, but I’m really not that excited about Miyan Williams...at all.
4.8 speed? Not OSU caliber in my book.
AE, before the board devolves into mass hysteria, you are saying Gibbs is flipping to someone else?
Yes he is.
Flipping in 3-5 days would line up right with his Bama visit this weekend.
I stand corrected on UGA, it looks like it will probably be Bama for Gibbs - [puke face emoji]
Also, here’s a nugget from Tim Watts on the Bama site:
“Making sure this didn't get lost in Hank's visitors thread for this weekend, but Gibbs indeed is coming to Tuscaloosa this weekend for a visit. Hank reported on Monday and I confirmed within the hour. Sources close to Gibbs believe UA would be a serious player if the Bama staff makes a push for him. UA obviously is showing interest with an Alabama coach expected to see him tomorrow and things have picked up the last week. But no offer yet. A ton of schools are evaluating him now and he's picked up some impressive offers lately. IMO it will be a good sign to get him to campus so quickly.
I know he's one of the hottest prospects in his class. He's blown up by all accounts and has put up some amazing statistics. He got a ranking bump as a result last month. We will keep you posted as we learn more.”
Not a good sign. Tim Watts is really really good too, so if he’s saying that then I believe it. Bradford might be back in play here...
Bradford might be back in play here...
Hopefully we did not burn that bridge by not being "warm and fuzzy" post Bradford's visit. There really isn't much left on the board at this point.
I liked Bradford better, seems like we didn’t roll out the usual red carpet
Raleigh - I think I recall you saying you know a coach somewhat close with Bradford, either his own coach or a rival coach?
Have you heard anything since his visit on whether we are still in play?
This sux. Gibbs was the one last recruit I was hopeful for at running back. At this point we should not take any running backs in 2020 and go all in for 2021. There is no one worth taking who is out there right now in 2020. Get a sold grad transfer this off season and two 2021 backs and we’ll be set. Dobbins will leave this year. So 2020 will look like this: Teague, Crowley, Grad Transfer and Chambers.
21: Teague will be gone and hopefully the grad transfer we get in 2020 has two years of eligibilty left. So it’ll go: Crowley, Grad transfer and Chambers with two stud 21 freshman kids.
I really don’t think we need to reach to put a warm body in the running back room who is not OSU quality. Bank the scholarship and use it on someone worth the scholly. Sometimes you have to know when to count your losses. We tried to get Knighton and Robinson and failed. You live to fight another day and get some studs in 2021. The worst thing we can do is settle for a 3*.
How we have been unable to recruit a running back with the depth we have, and JK dobbins tearing it up is unbelievable. This is like a 27-24 game against Indiana. Can we just end RB recruiting this year and move on to the next game?
Bank the scholarship and use it on someone worth the scholly.
I'll go ahead and assume anyone the staff signs is someone they deem "worth the scholly".
"the worst we can do is settle for a 3 star"...
Ohiostate literally has 8 3 star commits.
We going to mess around and stumble upon with the #1 RB in the class Zack Evans? Sucks Gibbs is being snatched up by Saban or Smart.
It is telling that every major program started recruiting Evans, took the lead, then backed off immediately. I am not sure we really want him, but if Alford thinks he can be successful here I’d be all for it.
i like this alternate impossible dream scenario.
Landing Donovan Edwards in 2021 completely erases any problem of not landing a RB in this year's class. I really don't think RB is as important in the 2020 class as some might think, especially with numbers becoming tight now. We are going to have 3 really solid RBs next year and personally I believe Jaelen Gill is headed back to the RB room full time next season where he should have been all along.
Jaelen Gill is 100% taking over for KJ Hill next year in the slot IMO. Insiders have also stated this. Again the HB in Day’s offense is full on slot receiver who can on occasion take a jet sweep.
Also Edwards isn’t the only top target for RB next year.
I just don't think that is a smart choice. OSU has a lot of great receivers coming in, two of which would be perfect for the slot position. Jaelen Gill hasn't even made an impact at the H back position this year like many thought, and hasn't taken any snaps from KJ Hill. It's a 5 receiver rotation so far this season. I think he should be put back at RB next season. He can become what the staff wants Demario McCall to be, the APB like Jaylan Knighton.
He hasn’t made an impact bc there’s no need to take KJ off the field.
I think Lovasea Carroll could be better. Givler’s source at IMG said a few weeks ago that Carroll has a chance to be every bit as good as Trey Sanders at IMG.
Well at least OSU should be extremely appealing to the top RB’s in the 2021 class. All the other top tier schools are taking a stud in 2020. This should be viewed favorably for Ohio State as far as Donavan et al goes.
BK has an article up about a possible flip. Anyone know what he’s talking about?
