"Ohio State stands high," should really be the reaction of any defensive back looking to get the most out of their playing time in college, and looking to go onto the NFL.

Spoiler alert, it should be the same for every other position, wait and see.

But how in the world does A&M have shot at this guy? Can only be that they were the first S$C team to show up with the bags.

Great stuff, Zack. The 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for literature was awarded yesterday so it’s too late to get  you on this year's list but, as Bengals fans have become used to saying, there’s always next year. Keep up the good work!

Really want him in that class.. Of course because he is the number 1 rated corner but even if he was rated lower, his tape and measurements speak for themselves... Come on down Mr. Grimes.. All American material

Hey you can get drafted from any school if you're good enough. But if you want the best chance to go at the top of the draft why wouldn't you come to Ohio State? In two years when he gets here All our current starters and their backups will either be gone or Seniors. There's room for ya's Tony.

"We narrow it down and see what schools will be best for me. Right now, I narrowed it down to a top three teams. I'll probably narrow it down to a top eight on my birthday," said Grimes

Me trying to calculate how you narrow a top 3 list down to a top 8:

Ha, good catch.  He said he wants to take all 5 Officials so he's gotta have more teams on his 'list' even though it seems he has already narrowed it down to 3.

Grimes is a must-get for the 2021 class.  And it sure seems like we may be in the drivers seat.  I'm sure he's watching how all of the former Buckeyes are performing in the NFL.

Ironic, I was curious about this guy for awhile. I wondered why he wouldn't seriously consider OSU. Now I know that he is. If I had a son, and he played in the secondary, I'd want him to go to OSU. Eventually, if he is good enough, he would go on to play for the NFL version of the Buckeyes, the Saints.

I will take New Orleans for $1,000 Alex as the NFL version of the Buckeyes in the secondary.

I could be wrong, but I thought it was just Elliott and Smith on the active roster? I was talking about the secondary. Still, yes, you make a very valid point. Jerry Jones has always loved the Buckeyes, in fact, they traditionally have the most Buckeyes on their team. I remember an interview in the 90's where he said he loves drafting them, because they are always good - Or something like that.

I enjoy reading stories like this. The motivation of kids to go to the league is strongest it seems with highly ranked players. The contrast between Tony Grimes and the way he sees coming to Ohio State and the way someone like Drew Donley sees coming to Ohio State is worlds apart. The best part of it all is when young men like these come together at a place like OSU they become life long brothers who end up helping each other reach their goals. This is the interesting part of recruiting to me.

Don't forget, young Mr. Grimes...the NFL is only for a short time in one's life. You certainly have the talent to make it but Ohio State can also set you up for life after football with its "Real Life Wednesdays" program. Either way, you win!

HS

Everything is perfectly set up for him to join tOSU class.  He's a top end DB, tOSU will have opportunities for early impact for DB's as a lot of the current crop will be gone at that point.   Hope he decides on the good guys!

It's a leg up on the competition to get 3 years of NFL coaching from Jeff Hafley before you declare for the Draft. Plus an NFL prep culture at OSU. How many interviews have we seen from former players and NFL coaches extolling the virtues of OSU culture... plenty!

I was surprised to see how thin our CB room will be after this year. Arnette and Okudah are gone after this year. Wade will be tempted to go if he continues to play well. He has that Jalen Ramsey, Derwin James kind of versatility. Only reason I see him staying is if he wants to prove he can be the #1 lockdown corner and get into that top 10 range. But if he leaves its pretty much Sevyn Banks, Tyreke Johnson and Cameron Brown. Williamson and Reip seem to be playing more safety than CB. He could definitely see some PT as a fresman and then potentially start as a soph. opposite banks or brown or something like that. And with the way we rotate in the secondary, just being in the top 3/4 means you are getting plenty of PT

HS
AZ Buckeye13's picture

You also need to account for the recruits who will be coming in the 2020 class. They will have a leg up on him. If he enrolls early, and is as talented as advertised, he could easily see early playing time or definitely on special teams.

HS

So let me get this straight... Ginn was a high school qb, #1 DB at one point as a recruit, and a first and second team all american at OSU as a WR? On top of that he's got over 12 years in the league and counting?

Will never stop being impressed with him and how awesome it is to have him as a Buckeye.

As a former HS cornerback, it is really nice to watch his highlight film and realize "that is what the coaches were trying to get me to do." His back pedal and swivel or so smooth and natural. You can see he has incredible work ethic. I wish him well wherever he ends up, but boy he would look good in S&G.

Respectfully,

Notice how much more mature he looks in the picture at the top versus his 247 pic. I suspect there's probably a year between those two. Imagine what another year and a half is gonna do. I want him here and it sounds pretty promising!!

Hopefully he comes our way, but my biggest takeaway from this article is that Washington is making as big a difference on the recruiting trail as he is with the defense.  Not the first guy that has singled out Washington as a key relationship for recruits.
