States where qbs are/went... Tate left. Lol
All Glory is Fleeting
Interesting that Day said Tathan "decided to leave". Rumors were that he was told it would be in his best interest to transfer. So many stories...so little time...
I believe both things are true... Coach Day had his one on one with Tate and Tate assumed he was QB1 and Coach Day told him there wasn't a QB1 and that everyone would be battling for that spot. Tate didn't think that was fair and talked about transferring and Coach Day said do what's best for you... and Tate "decided to leave"..
This is nothing new but I still don’t like it. Sure it’s always the player’s choice but he really doesn’t have one.
Yes he did. He decided he wanted to play QB and he transferred to Miami, where he's barely on the QB depth chart.

a lesser coach like the one up north would have said something like "we're better off", at least Day has the class to not throw him under the bus.

I really hope the light show happens! How awesome would it be if before the players came out of the tunnel the stadium goes pitch black!!!!
I thought the lights for the ND/Georgia game were pretty cool. Hopefully OSU can do some badassery while we're kicking Sparty's ass
Surprised he left Baldwin off the list of QBs he mentioned...
Only here one year doesn't deserved to be mentioned. Meanwhile at TCU he is at least 4th string and the starter is a true frosh. Bet he doesn't play there.
It wasn’t completely about starting, it’s about being close to family
Baldwin is the 5th string. He needed to go home since he has zero chance to be a starting qb for a while.
He referencing who was in the 2017 QB room, specifically.

Love Coach Day’s response about the QB’s. There are always gonna be 3 other guys who you will be competing with. Perfect answer. That really grounds it to reality.
Fields of Dreams
Nice writeup. Not as large of a group as we sometimes see but some important names there.
Zack, could you clarify what the two is that you are referencing? Something seems to be missing.
We’re not going to take much time today to rehash the Buckeyes’ well-documented search for a 2020 running back and 2020 defensive linemen. But the fact Ohio State is using two of its 62 official visits allotted to it during this recruiting cycle tells you how important this weekend will be in potentially locking up guys at those two positions and rounding out this class.
Let's Go Bucks
Thanks NPF. I was referring to Bradford and Baron. Those are the only two who are taking officials this weekend out of the group I mentioned.
But so many others have already used their OVs—guys like Fleming, Cavazos, PJJ and Toutant— while 2021 and 2022 visitors don’t qualify yet for that perk.
The fact that Stroud appears to be coming on his own dime is interesting...Zack, how do you interpret that, i.e., his willingness to pay his on way versus Ohio State’s perceived lack of willingness to take that burden off his family’s shoulders?
I can answer that. He’s coming to earn an official visit as we aren’t sure he’s a take yet. You don’t bring someone in you’re not offering. With limited visits it’s a waste of time.
He’s coming to earn an official visit as we aren’t sure he’s a take yet
I don't think this is accurate at all. You don't come across the country on your own dime as a sought after QB unless Day has given him assurances he has an offer waiting for him when he does. His offer list isn't elite, but its good enough that he's not making this trip to earn an offer imo. An offer may not be reported at this time, but if Stroud leaves Columbus wanting to be a Buckeye Day is not going to say no.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I want to commend 11W staff on all stories published on 10-01-19 as I think all presentations were fantastic.
Layman's point of view here, but It seems unlikely to me that Miller and Stroud will both be in this class. Cynical? Probably, but it seems odd to me that they would both commit to Ohio State. Yes, I saw Miller's tweet, which has reportedly since been deleted, and his father's tweet, but I find it had to believe that two QBs as closely rated as Miller and Stroud will be pledging to the same class. I don't believe it's a 'competition' issue either, rather it just seems prudent, from the player's perspective, for Miller and Storud, the sixth and seventh rated pro-style quarterbacks respectively, to commit to different schools... and I really hope Miller is the one who ends up in scarlet and gray.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
Day is in a tough spot here. He tries to keep Miller happy and not offer Stroud and Miller gets injured badly enough (Miller's durability IS a problem) he is useless to us next year. He takes a commitment from Stroud and Miller and his dad pout and the kid decomits Day is back in the same boat in which he started with 1 QB. And we lose Fields and Hoak after next year. The transfer portal has fucked up everything in our QB room.
"I find your lack of kalua disturbing" - Darth Lebowski
To a large degree so far it has been a net benefit for the Buckeyes as long as Field stays healthy.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Man these QB's HAVE to understand that they sometimes arent the only qb's taken in a class. All they have to do is look at the numbers and realize sometimes 1 isnt going to cut it and they may not be the only one in the class. Day gave a perfect example of why 4 are needed on a roster. I hope Jack Miller stays in this class if we do take another QB, because there will be multiple on another roster somewhere.
Not true at all. Most schools only take one QB.
Who’s the fourth QB in the room this year? Walk-on freshman J.P. Andrade?
I thought it was Vanatsky (sp).
The problem with Miller is his health. Can he stand up to college and being hit by players larger and faster than he has been hit with in high school. How sound are those legs and just wonder how many may have backed off of him because of that reason if any?
These qbs have to know we lose 2 qbs next year and must have a couple viable options...look at 2014...need to build some depth there..that's 1 reason to take 2. Unless we go grad transfer route again..
From Tate Martell as QB4 in 2017 to Danny Vanatsky...that’s one helluva plunge.
Are you sure?
Justice delayed is justice denied....#FTP
Huh, going from USA Today and Gatorade national player of the year who was undefeated as a high school player to a walk-on from a D-IV private school Cincinnati?
You tell me.
One is still on the depth chart as a QB...the other is working as a backup wide receiver. You tell me.
From Tate Martell as QB4 in 2017 to Danny Vanatsky...that’s one helluva plunge.
Edit, McGrind beat me to it.
Sure would love to see J.T. Tuimoloau have a great experience this weekend. LJ will work his magic.
MN you misread the article. Payne will be in town NOT Tuimoloau.
I'm planning to go watch his (and Gee Scott's) game on Friday. This will be my 3rd time seeing him play, and I'm certainly no expert, but he is very impressive. Very athletic, very high motor, from what I've seen. What LJ could do with him.....yikes!

I don’t EJ Smith on the visitors list. It’s disappointing.
why is Ohio State having this much trouble pulling in a halfway decent TB? I’d think Dobbins’ success this season should sell this program well.
His official is scheduled for Penn State game.
Is Ricks still making an official here? And any chance we get a committed RB to come on campus?
I state facts. You get mad
Yep, he is scheduled in for the PSU game also. Committed to another school? If so, Gibbs who is committed to GT will be on campus soon.
Gibbs will be visiting Nov 9, Maryland unofficially. According to Birm on Letterman’s Row.
I know this a pipe dream, but would love, love to end up with all the visitors listed! The most surprising to me is Montgomery who is from the same HS as Brian Snead. Glad to see we didn’t come out negative to the HS. Armwood, FL who seems to always have a team of college prospects.
Hard for the HS to blame Ohio State when Snead was let go because of behavior problems. Can't recall the exact reason but it was definitely an issue that gave Ohio State no choice but to remove him from the team.
It was reported sexual assault. No way the HS can blame us for that
Maybe not his HS exactly, but he could have easily gone back to his former teammates (probably still has friends on the team) and bad mouthed how he was treated at OSU even if he was completely at fault. I’m happy that it appears he didn’t do that.
The way Tennesee is playing. We really have a good shot at Baron if he cares about winning.
Not even about winning, but does he care about being developed to the best he can be? It’s obvious Tennessee doesn’t develop their players. They’ve had a few years where they didn’t even have a single player drafted. And it’s not like they’re recruiting scrubs. I can’t see how any big time player would wanna go there
