I love these... very well-worded by Ms. Sorensen
Kyle "blood on the field" Kalis... 0-5
Based on his analysis, it seems a contradition, w Martinez and their WRs, they are not a long methodical sustained driving team.
He didnt talk to much about his defense.

Karen ... is that you? Did you need to speak to a manager?
Trust me! I'm an Engineer.
That's Ms. Sorensen on the right. I don't know who that is on the left.

I am really excited to see how our back 7 deals with JD Spielman and Wandale Robinson. Big measuring stick for the defense
Too much respect for Nebraska, not to mention B1G west opponents, on top of the voodoo that can happen during night games. Add in the GameDay atmosphere (has it really been 12 years since they've been in Lincoln?) and I'm not sitting well with that spread.
I do think Ohio State has too much for the Huskers and pulls away late, but they're going to have to earn this one (again).
Appreciate Ms. Sorensen's input...hope it isn't too late to save her from Chipotle.
Can they just start the game tonight?
Bears...Buckeyes... Battlestar Galactica.
I found one answer particularly amusing
who to watch out for on defense? Then proceeds to list most of the defense haha
SOMEbody on defense will end up making Nebraska's tackles in the game. If she mentions everyone, she's pretty guaranteed to have identified their most significant defensive player.
On top of that, I wouldn't identify anyone on that defense as "special". Let alone all of their linebackers.
Stole my comment, buck15! Entire defensive line and all three linebackers are “special”? I don’t think they have any “special” players on defense at all.
Comments like this are why the rest of college football thinks OSU fans are overly arrogant. It's as if Nebraska couldn't possibly have a single player on defense who is good, or who could have played at OSU.
I agree that Ms Sorrenson went overboard listing 3 DL and 3 LBs, but Darrion Davis was a 4-star out of high school and is a 5th year Senior transfer from Oklahoma State, who sat a year with an injury. He had offers elsewhere.
Mohamed Barry is another fifth year senior, who was only a 3-star out of high school, but has played a lot of football. He had offers to several Power Five schools including Wisconsin. He was second in the Big Ten in 2018 averaging 9 tackles per game, and made 3rd team All B1G. I don't subscribe to September awards, but he was on the 2019 Butkus Award preseason watch list. Being listed as one of the 50 potential best LBs in FBS isn't not special.

I see this going one of two ways...
I see a third option: Ohio State just blows their doors off like everyone else they’ve played. I think that’s what we’ll see this week,
Number one, win the rivalry game. And number two, win every game after that.
I think that’s what happens. This team has a very different feel from the past 4 years or so of Meh games
If I must choose between peace and righteousness, I choose righteousness! -Theodore Roosevelt.
there's a 3rd option : i'm concerned how the game might change if the rain does come and stays throughout the game. remember the 17-14 loss we had to mich. st in columbus during a "hurricane"? spartans had no business being in that game - but the wind changed everything.
on the road; at night and in the rain/wind? funny things happen.
You let her out of the building without a score prediction?

Think NU will get the ball out quick to athletes in space. A lot of screens, slants quick outs. Not sure they will be able to attack deep.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
I’d recommend getting the ball out early because if you don’t.. the predator will eat all game long and get his 2 sacks by the half. This will be all about how our defense tackles and I’ll say that from what I’ve seen. I feel confident in that area.
The Future is Bright at Ohio State
Nebraska and Miami of Ohio play a very similar speed spread style offense. I’m grateful for that first 10 minutes last week because they had to adjust, now they have experience and this week I just believe we will see Ohio State just pummel them. this team is the best one as far as execution that I’ve ever seen in ohio state history. I phone autocorrect sucks. Not relevant but just true.
if they go after borland/werner - they may not need to look down the field.
Same way they defended against Oregon in the NC game. Keep it all in front and WRAP. UP. Make them go 10+ plays to score. Not a lot of spread offenses are capable of doing that consistently enough to win a game.
"Because we couldn't go for three"
Respect your opponent. The difference this year is: We are bringing a very good Defense.
Buckeyes 49 - 27 is my guess.
Ohio State 56-7 Nebraska
Moral victories are the only victories anyone is getting against our Buckeyes this year.
god, i hope you're right.
Big test this weekend against a program I have a lot of respect for. Nebraska can test us and will pull out all the stops to make an exciting game but if our defense plays well we more than cover the spread. If this becomes a shootout then things could get scary. We will learn more about our secondary and Mattison and Hafley’s ability to have a team prepared after this game. It will be interesting to see if more of our guys are healthy especially on the D-line. Go Bucks!
If the Buckeyes handle Nebraska's "speed in space," then I'm pretty confident about the rest of the regular season. I'm predicting they do.
Agreed. Let’s hope they do!
If this becomes a shootout then things could get scary.
I don't expect it to get to a shootout, but even if it does, I still like our offense against their "defense" better than their O against our D.
As someone above said, I think the 2 likeliest outcomes are) a close game early, then our depth allows us to pull away in the 2nd half; or) we jump on them early, and they manage a few late scores against our 2nd team to make it look closer than it actually was. Actually, I think a 3rd outcome is very possible, too, which is we pound them early and then keep pounding them, to the tune of a 45-23 type score.

I agree. Lots of ways it could play out but I could imagine any those scenarios happening. Should be a good one to watch. And yes I agree that our D should be better than theirs regardless and our offense should be at least as good so I like our chances of winning and think a loss is unlikely. But I hope it’s not close so I can relax during the game haha
Thanks for the insight. My wife and I went to the game at Lincoln the last time they played there. We have one more stadium (Xichigan) to finish up our tour of seeing TOSU play every other B1G team on the road. I have to say the Nebraska fans are the nicest people that we've come across on our tour. The stadium usher hugged me when we walked in to the stadium and thanked us for coming.
Believe it or not, the facility that rates towards the top is Rutgers. Although small, it was a very comfortable seating experience, backs on most of the bleachers and you aren't shoe horned in.
One other comment about Lincoln if you are there, go to Honest Abe's for a burger, they are fantastic.
I’ve heard the same thing from family who went to a Huskers game. Classy and kind people. Very refreshing. I hope they get an entertaining game but I also hope we win by 30+ points haha
Both my sons live in Lincoln. The Mrs. and I went there last year for the Bethune-Cookman game. A Husker season ticket fan sold us his extra two seats for $5 each! And I was wearing all the Scarlet and Gray possible at the time!
My two favorite teams: OSU and whoever plays TTUN

Earle, you need to get in line behind Cardale.
I've been thinking for a while that this is not only Nebraska's biggest game of the year - but probably, their biggest game in years. This idea is supported by College Gameday making their first appearance there in more than a decade. I even made a Forum post on the subject.
I don't think they're quite ready to be in the running for the B1G West this season. So, after we (hopefully) knock Wisconsin out of the top ten next month, we will have been far-and-away the biggest game on the Huskers' schedule this year.
It won't even be close to our biggest game of the year (assuming we win comfortably). So, strictly from a motivational standpoint, Nebraska should have an edge. Plus, they played us so close last year - they have some reason to be hopeful.
However, I'll bet that while Coach Day has his team anticipating big things this season, he's also made them aware that anything less than their best effort in a situation like this could result in failing to meet the most lofty of those goals (again).
Hype, hope, enthusiasm, etc., aside - I believe our guys will be ready. After all, it's also our first big game of the year - under the lights, College Gameday, and so on -
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
What's the over/under on how many times we'll have to see clips from the Iowa and Purdue games the last two seasons??
I think this is one of those games where the defense needs to play more of a 'bend, but don't break' scheme. Make Neb earn their points via sustained drives versus big plays. Similar to what they did against Oregon in the NC game. If you recall in that game, Oregon on their first position scored a TD on a 12 play drive. The defense staff and team stated we had them right where we want them since that type of offense is not their MO.
The Neb offense need to play flawlessly (No TOs & penalties) then it will be a close one. Just don't see that happening after watching both the CU and IL games. 45-17 Bucks
“That’s the way you respect a rivalry. Then you outwork them and then you kick that ass like it’s never been kicked before” - Urban F Meyer
I think you're on to it there. Make them drive for their points. Don't let Martinez beat us by keeping plays alive that should be sacks. Put a fence around him. Get him on the ground. Don't let him salvage busted plays. Don't let them hit homeruns off the quick throws and busted plays.
I like our chances if they want to play the quick throw game. That takes Martinez out of the game. And I think we can win an up and down the field game.
You've got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.
I'd be good with that gameplan.
More snaps = more chances for The Predator to cause fumbles or someone to pick them off. I trust Fuller and White and the rest of the secondary.
My concern is
1.Their speed and our zone defense.
2. Martinez ability to run/scramble and us being overly aggressive
3. Fields playing on the road in hostile environment at night
Your number 2 is my big worry. I don't think Nebraska can beat us. I am concerned though that Martinez might more or less do it all on his own.
I have zero concerns about Fields and the offense. I think even if the worst happens for the defense the offense will be able to keep pace.
> 2. Martinez ability to run/scramble and us being overly aggressive
Ding, Ding, ding, that is key... If we don't fall into that trap, 52-21 Ohio State
"If we weren’t improving and getting better and going in a really good direction that was obvious to a lot of people, we wouldn’t have those guys on ESPN coming to town. This is special. Our guys need to be able to operate and flourish amidst whatever distraction brings along with it.”
Meh. ESPN is coming to town because you are hosting Ohio State. That's the reason. It's a big game because you've got Ohio State at home and they're a top 5 opponent. It's special because you have an opportunity to upset a Playoff contender at home and prove to the country 'they're back'.
I think it's a good thing for Nebraska. I really do. And I hope they can find some level of success. But really, ESPN has themselves a win-win situation. They do Game Day at a place they haven't been in over a decade to hype a game they'll be airing on ABC that night. If Nebraska upsets OSU, it'll make for big drama and everyone will scream OSU is overrated and Nebraska is back. If OSU wins, they'll be showcasing one of the best teams in the country in pursuit of the Playoff.
Are any of the other top teams even playing a decent team in their conference?
B1G has the scintillating alternate choices of PSU/Maryland, Wiscy/NW, and Minny/Purdue, TTUN/Rutgers, MSU/Hoosiers, Iowa/Middle Tennessee.
Is there even anything else close to OSU/Nebraska on the schedule in any conference?
I looked at the day's slate of games and there's not much there by way of prime match-ups. Here's the list of games that feature ranked teams and a "decent" opponent. Texas Tech - Oklahoma. Clemson - UNC. Ole Miss - Alabama. Virginia - Notre Dame. USC - Washington. Washington St. - Utah. Mississippi St. - Auburn.
I predict a few more blocked kicks, whether they be field goals or punts...perhaps one even gets returned for a touchdown.
This is the perfect opportunity. Probably would not hurt to let it be known we are emphasizing blocked kicks this week to let the kicker ponder that.
Our people are everywhere, Esto Dignus.
Thought I'd mix up the graphic this time: Hope I don't jinx us, if it is a blowout, I'll continue to do this. If it is a real trap, I think I would go back to the normal Admiral Ackbar graphic.
