As a graduate of Groveport way back when, this is a really nice win and one heck of a start to the season. Another player on the team, his mother is a co-worker with my sister with the State of Ohio. His last name is Moton who is having a wonderful season to date. Go Bucks and Cruisers !!!
Let’s go Cruisers!!
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
Class of 97 baby! Couldn't field a team in the 13 years I went to Groveport schools, happy the tide is turning. The only playoff game that I'm aware of in my lifetime was a loss starring our own Le'veon Bell. Let's go Cruisers!
I’m Class of 98. We certainly had a rough patch when we went there. I remember the 87’ team (I believe that was the year) being really good with Tony Lowery as their QB.
His son went to Pickerington north last year, and plays at division 2 Mercyhurst in Erie, PA.
Actually know Tony quite well as my brother works at CPD with him. Tony was a heck of an athlete and his younger boy is quite a player too.
Class of 95 checking in. Looks like we were likely at the high school at the same time. Go Cruisers!
*Sipping the Buckeye Kool-Aid since 1995
How far back? Might have played against you in the 70s.
Played against Marcus Marek, he was a pile jumper in HS, we ran right at him. We had no business being being on the same field as Brookfield. Btw, I was the only one on my team that had a solo tackle on Darwin Ulmer, he probably had 200 yards and 3 TD’s on like 8 carries before the half Along with 10 whiffs lol.Worst field we ever played on less Mannington Wva.
MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS

Ulmer did that to more than one team; he was an impressive athlete. He went to Arizona, which was coached by former Brookfield coach Tony Mason. I'm guessing he must have gotten hurt, because his college career was 2 carries for 5 yards.
Just curious: were most of his big runs against your team toss-sweeps to the left?
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
Yes, I played FS,TE,NG,FB. One sweep went to the opposite,my best 40 was 4.7 on our HS track, lol I had the angle like 40 yards downfield and he was already 5 yards behind me when I got there, lol. He was a grown ass man compared to us. They threw swing passes in the flats to him also. Very humbling experience when you are a big fish from a puddle. Couple guys went to PSU also from their 78 team and a few went to small schools.
That really is an incredible upset, holy shit.
2x account suspension survivor
Wow, that's huge. Wasn't Pick Central one of the top teams in the country as rated by USA Today?
Definitely an upset. Congratulations to the Cruiser faithful!!
Meanwhile Grove City is now 2-32 the last 4 years. Highly consistent.
Grove City has been down for about 15 years.
When were they ever up?! Haha
When Brian Cross was there.
Class of 83 here ... about damn time!
Unfortunately I had to play against the 2010 Groveport team. Leveon Bell.....
Buckeye Til I Die
As much as I might not like how everything went down with him in Pittsburgh - he did pay for their new field from what I've heard! Props to him for that!
Wow!! Must be a hell of a coaching staff to go winless just 2 years ago, to an upset of one of the big boys in the state.
Great kids, really playing as a team this year. Coaching can't be understated, but these players are getting after it this year. I've got several in class this year and they're showing a lot maturity on and off the field. I'm really impressed. They are all about it.
Great to read G.! I actually graduated with Coach Schoonover and couldn’t be happier for him, the staff, the team and the school.
Class of '03. Went winless my junior and senior years. I had just started kindergarten the last time we beat Pickerington. So happy for Coach Schoonover. Had him as a coach in middle school and he moved up with us to the high school. Also happy to see Coach McDonald helping with the turnaround. He was our freshman coach, which was crazy to me as he coached all the playoff teams of the late 80s. Really enjoyed playing for him that year.
Can you imagine how good Pickerington would be if they never split into Central and North?!
That win snapped a 28 game losing streak Groveport had vs. Pickerington Central.
North is terrible this year despite having the #1 junior in the nation. They lost to my cousins Westerville Central Warhawks last night 41-7 at home, a team that they beat 52-7 last season.
To get back on topic, congrats to the Groveport alumni on here, that is a BIG win versus a perennial powerhouse.
Pick Centra always seems to inexplicably lose one game a year that they shouldn’t before going on a run to the regional final
