Heal up fellas, the conference slate awaits.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
Man you really hate this for Cooper and Saunders in their last year. Hope they heal up and are ready soon.
It’s pronounced “Thee”.
I'll bet most of these guys will be ready for Nebraska.
That was my first thought as well. I think they're treating this like a bye week.
Which gives a double bye.
Yeah, I'm thinking if we were playing PSU or TTUN, some of these guys would be in there.
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
Get well men!!
Considering the opponent, I wonder if any of these sitting out would be a go if it were TTUN, PSU, Wisky, etc
Really bummed out that Cooper is missing games. Hometown kid who was supposed to breakout this season. Hopefully he’s back next week and beyond.
Hoping Landers being out is a precautionary thing. Same for Smith. We're gonna need that depth. Good news is it sounds like Cooper might be close to coming back.
"I find your lack of kalua disturbing" - Darth Lebowski
Hopefully he's still going to be doing past game press, which, as good as his play is, is his strength. :)
They can give them an extra week to heal up. Not needed this week. Hope they can all play soon.
Hate all the injuries on the DLine but at least some young guys are getting some valuable game reps. This should bode well for the team to know that a lot of guys when called upon have more than just practice reps on their belt.
Just posting and hoping my comment isn’t deleted.
I wouldn't be shocked if a lot of these are precautionary since it's Miami (OH). Landers in particular, I haven't heard any recent reports about him being injured. My guess is we'll probably see a lot of Tommy Togiai, Haskell Garrett, and Antwuan Jackson on the interior defensive line in this game. I hope we have a big enough lead that guys like Justin Hilliard are able to see some PT on defense.
I hope they're mostly precautionary, too. But LJ has been very blunt in the past that he doesn't like putting true freshmen out there. Zach Harrison is a special sort of talent, but gotta think he's not a co-starter unless he really has to be.
"Woody would have wanted it that way"
Jackson, Garrett and Togiai aren't true freshmen. I don't think any of our DTs currently are except for Jaden McKenzie (who is likely looking at a redshirt season). So they wouldn't fall into that category. In regards to Jackson he has tremendous upside as a player but hasn't put it all together on the field yet. I've been hoping to see him get an extended look for awhile and this is as good a game as any to do it. Landers will be needed once the brunt of conference play starts so it makes sense to rest him in this matchup. I would especially hope LJ plans on limiting Chase's snaps this weekend if we jump out to a massive lead early. I don't want to see what happened to Bosa last year happen to Chase. Also in regards to Harrison he is indeed a co-starter.
Should see a lot of Zach Harrison with Coop and Smith’s injuries.
He's probably the #5 DE who's available, but i'm hoping we get a good look at Potter too, probably in the second half.
Potter should be able to see some action in this game without OSU having to take his redshirt off of him. Assuming the game is well out of reach for Miami (OH) in the second half.
If Cooper remains sidelined what about maybe sitting out rest of year to get a medical shirt?
If he's getting close to being ready (which is what it sounds like), my guess is that both he and staff would not want to sit him all year. Plus he's a senior; would he want to go to graduate school to stay at Ohio State?
I think the grad school is "flexible" about programs for graduated athletes who need a semester of classes.............
Can't he redshirt (medical or otherwise) if he plays no more than 4 games? I'm guessing he'll give it a go before too long, with a decision being made by the time he has played in 4 games. He's class of 2016; it's not like he'd be trying to get a 6th year.
That's assuming he still has the option (which I think Cooper does). Justin Hilliard for example is ineligible for a medical RS this year because he's already used it IIRC.
If I'm not mistaken he's class of 2016, making this his 4th year. He's listed as a senior (right?) meaning he hasn't yet taken a red shirt. If he already took a redshirt, than he'd only be a junior now and would automatically have one more year, no matter how much he plays this year.
Let him play once he's medically cleared (Nebraska game or whenever), and see how his ankle holds up before making a decision. I expect him to be able to help this year.
If he’s not 95%, sit him until the PSU game. The season is moving quickly, it’s only 6 games out. Let him play the TTUN game, if we’re undefeated after that, sit the B1GCG. He can play in the entire CFP, and still get a sneaky RS.
Rest up even the minor dings and get more reps for the young Buckeyes. Next week the stuff gets real and we need all the Buckeyes to be up to par.
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
Tough injuries but thankfully we have a lot of depth to handle those injuries. Hope they heal soon and get back on the field.
It always seems impossible until it's done.
Let's all hope the guys heal quickly and become whole before the conference slate, and not take for granted that we are lucky this is a game we can rest them regardless of their health and not have to worry too much.
This could be a blessing in disguise with the young guys getting great 1st team reps, starters getting to rest for two weeks even if they aren't truly injured, and letting us try some different things with lower risk than normal.
Can't take it for granted, but we can take advantage of it.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
The best part of scheduling a cupcake for this point in the season is that we can sit some guys who are dinged up in anticipation of more formidable opponent's coming up. It's a tough road the rest of the way -

Imagine having a game like this before the biggest game of the season...sounds like I’ve heard this somewhere before...
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
I can sec why you'd say that -
Heal up boys. We have a tough stretch of games coming up where you will be needed. Tomorrow's game gives the young pups plenty of needed reps.
Fields of Dreams
Don’t like the injuries, but this is valuable experience for Harrison.
Great test for the 'JV' team tomorrow. :)
15-1 is SWEET!
Hopefully some of these guys are being held out to get fully healthy and would be available if tomorrow's opponent was a BIG team. Nevertheless, hoping everyone get fully healthy soon.
I hope that they can get Cooper or Smith or both back for Nebraska. Probably not needed for this but a fair number of guys out.
Coaching staff sending message to Coop and Smith? Need to be cautious with injuries. It is the smart play. However, naming Harrison co-starter is interesting. Does he go back down below Coop and Smith on depth chart when they return? Probably. But, if he plays really well tomorrow how can you sit him. Only so many snaps in a season and Coop missing a lot and now Smith.
Buckeye since 1952.
This Defense is an embarrassment of riches. It’s loaded with Pro level talent front to back. Even with four future NFL players out the D line is flat out nasty. If those guys healed up by the end of the season this team will be a legit national title contender. This defense will not cost us a L this year. They are playing lights out and they’re only going to get better. Basically it comes down to the O line on whether or not we can win the NC. If they can gel and protect Fields as well as open up some holes for the run game there’s no reason why this team should lose a game.
Don't listen to Freddy P. Soft
Hate it for C00p and C.J. especially being seniors.
Chance for young guys to step up!! We need Smith and BB? at Braska, MSU,at Northwestern,Wisky in like a 5 week period with a bye in the mix. We will need plenty of help on the defensive line!!
You gotta feel terrible for Saunders. Finally gets his chance after being a walk-on and waiting his turn and he is most likely out well into B1G play. Wonder if he is eligible for a medical red-shirt.
Saunders might now want to come back even if he could, considering there’s four inbound studs on deck, and they are all destined for greatness and will all be 3 and done.
I think we are in pretty good shape, injury wise, compared to most teams.
My greatest concern is Tyreke Smith. Rumor has it, his condition is a bit more serious than most think, and possibly season ending.
The source specified the supposed nature of his injury, hope it's a completely erroneous rumour and we see him back on the field shortly..
We will need either Smith or Cooper back for a title run. Games like Wisky or Psu or Msu or NW their depth alone would be crucial. Got to feel great for Harrison though. Everything promised to him during a tough recruiting process is coming to fruition faster then lightning. Kid will be our Chase Young next season. Hometown hero in the making.
MSU and NW have been quite bad on the OL. We would be fine w/ Chase, Friday, Harrison and Baptiste.
What makes you think anything was promised to him? His ability and Johnson’s coaching will allow history be the next great DE.
All 5* freshman are promised a shot at playing a bit if they put in the hard work. Harrison is getting it. Guys like Wade and others either weren't as lucky or weren't as focused. Now a days with the transfer portal its releavin to see these guys get a shot early and not need a full year in the weight room.
I hope they all heal up real soon, we are gonna need them.
Geez DLine, heal up. That depth will be critical in time.
