I’m really excited with what we’ve seen from him so far. He runs like a damn bowling ball every time. He reminds me a little of Carlos Hyde - Even when he gets hit immediately it seems like he falls forward four yards.
A really fast and heavy bowling ball. I sure wouldn't want to be that guy meeting him past the line of scrimmage.
I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.
"falls forward four yards"
I kept saying this while watching the game. Always falling forward is a great way to continue to earn snaps (and not fumbling).
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
Kid runs with some bad intentions. I sure wouldn’t want to be in his way.
Fields of Dreams
Runs like a man with a dream of being rich. Runs like his life is on the line. Kid is the next generational talent here at RB. I'm sorry but Dobbins sometimes runs like his goal is trying not to be touched, and Teague runs like he is daring a MFer to touch him. Hard facts straight up your A gap.
I agree. Teague will be a household name before he leaves for the NFL. He has Zeke-like open field speed mixed with Hyde-like aggression. He has all the tools to be a great one.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
Just because Dobbins has shake and bake doesn’t mean he is averse to hitting. Watch the dude block and you might change your tune. I think he became accustomed to being hit as soon as he touched the ball last year (as did Weber), so it may have appeared he was looking for escape routes. But this year’s line play looks way different to me, and he is able to look up, see a hole, and run to daylight aggressively.
Yes watch Fields td run in 2nd half and Dobbins had key block.
Yes, credit for the block but he was also the one who whiffed on the Fields sack. Dude ran right by Dobbins without even being touched.
Love this kid not only because of his beastliness but also because he’s mature and well rounded. If I remember correctly he was hoping for and never received a Georgia offer and Ohio State evaluated him and saw the potential and recruited him hard after that. Kind of an underrated prospect in my opinion and now everyone knows why we went after him so hard. Stories like that and Olave should serve as a reminder to trust the coaching staff when it comes to recruiting. Turns out they actually know what they’re doing!
MTIII running hangry right now, and I like it.
If he's hangry let's feed him some footballs!
I love the change of pace.. hes going to run people over..he has good speed...
While he's no as quick laterally, I would bet that MT3 is noticeably faster than dobbins with straight line speed.
teague's all nuts and bolts...'linebacker fills the hole to make the stop,' he squares his pads and runs thru him. guapo-esque!
I am impressed with how hard Teague runs. I can’t wait to see him break into the second level and show off that 4.4 speed. I think that is what Alford was referring to when he was ask about the recruiting situation at running back. We are set for the foreseeable future with Teague and Crowley in the backfield after Dobbins leaves.
And don't forget Chambers! He didn't arrive until the summer and hasn't had very many opportunities yet, but in the few carries he's had he's looked good.
“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt
The second best running back on this team is Steele. Better all around back than Master.
" It's real good whatcha done Anthony, real good ! "
I’ve been as high as anyone on Steele since we’ve been recruiting him and believe he will be great, but THAT is a bold statement.
Master’s a hard running straight line guy and will serve us well on the goal line. I like a rb that can juke you or run over you. Just think he’s a bit more talented
Could be, I just didn’t think we’ve seen much of him.
He's the # 2 Rb...
I'm not sure what they're waiting on, unless he's been inconsistent in practice (which sounds like it could be the case).
It is time!!!!!
Master of Disaster
“For me, this is who we are. We have a culture. We work at it very hard. And we’re efficient at it.” - Coach Day
That picture was taken pre-Mariotti. He came in pretty jacked as a freshman.
Things can change but I watched a rerun of the Army TTUN game, Army was grinding them down with runs, Master, if he keeps running hungry with serious intentions, he will obliterate those weasels
With all due respect to Stevie Wonder, this is our Master Blaster. Runs with ferocity and finishes his runs. Looking forward to watching him develop.
The Juggernaut... I have to imagine it is like trying to tackle a high moving fire hydrant
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
Master is just what we need, a punisher with speed. Has the tools to be another great Buckeye back.
Teague is the reason I'm not terribly concerned the Bucks missed on Robinson, Milton, and Knighton.
I see your point, Tajikey. But we have to consider that next year we won't have Dobbins on the roster (leaving Teague, Crowley and possibly Steele as our only remaining every-down scholarship running backs).
So, we'll still need to add a running back to the 2020 class. And, as far as I'm concerned the more potential that recruit has, the better -
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
6 of one, half dozen of another. The Bucks will eventually find the 2020 RB that A) fits the system, and B) truly wants to be a Buckeye.
When Teague appeared in the game vs FAU, my first thought was whoa, that dude is built like a man.
Bears...Buckeyes... Battlestar Galactica.
I think he's just a little but faster than Hyde and has just a little bit more wiggle. Kind of in the mold of Marshawn Lynch. Will be fun to see how high he can elevate his game before heading to the league.
The Lynch comparison seems very good
He has proven that he is the backup. If he is completely healthy, what is Day and staff waiting on?
He looks special in limited play time.
I’m on board. Change of pace back. Keeps JK fresh.
Wow, it’s amazing that a guy who was a 3 star when he committed is making a case to be the backup running back at OSU as a redshirt freshman. /s
I think that was mainly due to the fact that he was stuck behind a 4* or 5* guy and never started until his senior year at Blackmon. He went to a summer camp before that year and benched, squatted, ran, and jumped better than anyone else, so the Bucks and Alabama were 2 of the first few teams that offered. He didn't have enough time to climb through the rankings, but he definitely had the potential.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing
Two freshmen & Demario McCall. It would be discouraging if Master Teague had not established himself.
Teague does not look for holes-he creates them.
TOSU has a nice history of two back rotation. Dobbins and Teague might be 1 and 1a by end of season
MT111 and Dobbins look like the best 0ne-two back set up in football right now. He's hungry and runs with purpose. Really like this ole number 33. This combo could wear down a defensive line over the course of a game. He's a grinder. How about some formations with him and Dobbins in the backfield. Utilize play action, run or pass with these guys. Confuse the defense, get creative.
Add in Chambers, Crowley and McCall and the Buckeyes are blessed with the best backs in the nation. OSU recruiting is awesome.
Beat Indiana into submission. Go Buckeyes.
I'm not trying to win a popularity contest. I'm trying to win football games-- Woody Hayes
I have been on the Teague bandwagon from the day we started recruiting him out of highschool. I personally think he is a better pure running back than Dobbins and I love Dobbins. Different styles I know, but give me a choice and i'll take the ”run you over” type back every time. Plus he has the speed too. Can he catch or block with consistency.......????? Not sure yet. I hope Dobbins has a good enough year that Teague can kinda fly under the radar a little and catch everyone outside the state of Ohio by surprise next season. I'm going to make some bold predictions for next year. First, next year will be Teague's last year before going pro. (That's not the bold part). Second he will challenge or break Eddie's single season rushing record of 1,927 yds. Third, he will finish in at least the top 5 in Heisman voting, but probably a top 3 finalist. You heard it here first folks!
I've been confused about people trying to say he's a different runner this year. He did the same damage last year with about the same playing time -
ATT YDS AVG TD LNG REC YDS AVG TD LNG FUM LST

Dude's a beast
This "article" is such a hype job. 19 attempts and 11 Warriors' "writers" are ready to anoint this guy as the best thing since sliced bread? Based on what I've seen, this is a huge gulf between Teague and Dobbins in terms of talent. Dobbins has a good combo of speed, elusiveness, and power. Also, Dobbins is a much better blocker that Teague, who almost got Fields killed on a reception to Victor in the third quarter against Cincy. Teague, by contrast, is a straight-line bruiser. While such backs can be used situationally, they rarely, if ever, go on to be elite backs. There is much more to being a RB than power.
Yeah I think some should pump the brakes just a tad. Someone basically said Teague is more talented than Carlos Hyde with more wiggle. No, we haven't seen that yet (go back and watch Hyde at Ann Arbor 2013) Let the kid go to work and prove himself before crowning him. He runs hard and that's great..the Joe Montgomery mentions seem apt because Master has not really broke one yet. Seems like a bigger Antonio Pittman with his running stye ( a little stiff but effective). Solid #2 back, but Dobbins/Fields read option will carry this team. JK is just getting started.
I think there is hype because he looked damn good. He had 5 and 6 yard runs in situations where Weber and Dobbins had 1 or 2 yard runs last year. He got 4 or 5 yards after hitting 2 defenders.
Don't confuse writers with comments... nothing in the article hypes Teague as better than Dobbins. They used direct quotes from coaches, I'm not sure how anyone could actually have ready the article and come away with this opinion.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I watched Day's interview. He didn't exactly gush over Teague. He wouldn't even declare him as the #2 RB. Like the other poster said, we need to pump the brakes on the Mr. Teague love. So far he's proven that he's a serviceable RB. Hopefully, he will continue to grow as a player.
I remember as a Freshman and Sophomore, Dobbins got caught from behind. He's really improved his top end speed. I feel Dobbins hasn't been as elusive like his Freshman year though. MTIII does run hard. I'd like to see him break one so we can see his speed.
The season is just getting started. Give him time to be elusive.
I was extremely excited when we signed this kid as he was criminally underranked coming out of high school. He has the physical traits obviously, but it looks like he's developing the mental game as well to take it to the defense.
One side effect of NOT getting Bijan this recruiting cycle is that we might be able to see Teague be our #1 guy next year which, after another year of development, I think can put him in a great spot to be a great back. A 5-11, 225lb guy running a 4.4 is exactly the type of back we like to see at OSU.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
Master Teague is a beast with the ball. He is an efficient runner, where he commits, makes his cut and turns on his remarkable burst of power and speed. No happy feet here. Before he hangs up his Buckeye uniform for the last time, he will be remembered as one of our great ones.
I've been saying he's going to be a beast and he is getting his chance to show it. He is an outstanding young man too, really easy to root for him. As for JK vs MT, I don't see a debate warranted, JK is the man this year, he is starting to hit his groove, does a really good job blocking and has speed in the open field, he has earned his load this year....MT is showing that the cupboard is not as empty as many thought and that we have a solid #2 this season and a potential great #1 when JK leaves. To me it's not either or, it's both and that is a good thing looking ahead.

MTIII has stood out as the 2nd best back in those first two games. I love that he always falls forward, gains those extra couple of yards
Dobbins also looks better than last year in that he is being more decisive hitting holes, less dancing in the backfield than last year. As the line gels, I think this year will look more like his freshman year.
Well, of course he has; he's been given the lion's share of the backup reps.
I get what you're saying, but it's not that. Of all the running backs, he jumps off the screen. Maybe it is just the style that makes me take notice. I was looking and hoping for McCall to be 2nd guy. Maybe that happens as the O-line solidifies.
Getting flashbacks to ol' Joe Montgomery. Big #33 coming in off the bench to spell the smaller, quicker starting tailback.
Heeeeeeeez a bAhhhhhhhd man
All Glory is Fleeting
Master is fast and OSU stopped him on the bench at 25 reps at 225. He should get me reps.
