This really makes perfect sense when you take into account the fact that the NCAA just makes shit up as they go.
No kidding on that one. They may as well just make it a college free agency.
It always seems impossible until it's done.
I’m still disappointed in him for leaving, but I wish him the best, and it was ridiculous they didn’t grant him immediate eligibility right off the bat.
Considering his reason was “homesick” and he transferred to a school that is still 100+ miles from home, I can at least see some reasoning in why they initially denied it. Not saying I agree with their initial decision though.
I suppose one can start getting horribly homesick at any time but doesn't it usually happen during the first semester? At 100 miles you can drive home for the weekend or have family come up and sit with you for a day or two so it is something.
Friends daughter lasted TWO days at college and quit and came home, is that productive for her long term? At least have the child gut it out until the date for free cash back deadline to see if she can grow as a person and toughen up a bit. The school was only a 90 minute drive.
Fire up the Baldwin Bus! All the best, Matthew.
Fields of Dreams
With Baldwin receiving his waiver, all four former Ohio State players who left the Buckeyes via the transfer portal this offseason – Baldwin, Tate Martell, L'Christian "Blue" Smith and Keandre Jones – have received waivers for immediate eligibility to play at their new schools. Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith told Eleven Warriors this offseason that OSU will support former Buckeye student-athletes who choose to transfer and pursue a waiver for immediate eligibility in most cases.
Note to the clown show up North; this is how to deal with the portal with class. You might give it try sometime. Just sayin'.
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
These type of seemingly unimportant issues (to us) can pay dividends down the road.
If you have two people that agree on everything, that only means one of them is not thinking at all.
I’m not one to defend the clown show, but as far as I know all they did was tell the NCAA that the player in question didn’t report or seek any help for his depression when they directly asked... and he also said he didn’t report or seek any help for his depression. I don’t believe UM or Harbaugh actively tried to block his eligibility as is often inferred by people who only read headlines.
Harbaugh then said players should all be allowed one free transfer so they didn’t have to deal with the NCAA being in their business at all... of course then he put his entire foot in his mouth because he just can’t help it
Depression is often suffered in silence.
High and tight boo boo
What he keeps saying is that once a player enters the portal it is on the NCAA. He nor tsun will lift a finger to do an equivalent of a "friend of the court" which is what those defending him keep missing. Nobody is encouraging lying but you can still help the kid which ttun has no interest in doing.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Best wishes young man. Do your very best.
I'm happy that Matthew Baldwin has been granted immediate eligibility. I'd have loved for him to have stayed at OSU but he has moved on. Best wishes to MB at TCU. Go Bucks!
Where are the scUM fans now on the transfer? Especially with specific praise from the family for Ohio State.
Petition the NCAA on your own for an immediate eligibility waiver: DENIED!
Hire a lawyer to petition the NCAA for an immediate eligibility waiver: GRANTED!
Except that the Baldwins used an attorney every step of the way on this one. So, your logic is only slightly flawed.
First time an attorney was mentioned with Baldwin in everything I have read.
Perhaps slightly...but 99.9% is still a good average
Sure. Why not?
The transfer portal makes almost no fucking sense and the NCAA seems unalarmed and unprepared to deal with it.
Just keep that money rollin in. That's the important thing.
I hated to see this kid go. I hope his play validates that. Go get 'em Baldwin!
Damn Baldwin. We needed a quality back up this year. All we got on the bench are 3 stars. The Sky is Falling !!!!!
Baldwin is a good QB. He had no interest in sitting behind Fields and watching all the hype for two years only to have Miller come in as the next guy. Baldwin is gonna do great things at TCU. Hated to see him go, but happy for him to get to play.
This portal thing is a bunch of bullshit! I don’t like it but Just let kids transfer and be eligible.
