Damn, Urban is one good storyteller.
He ain't telling us something many didn't already know...lol
"I didn't come here to play school...."
"I didn't come here to play school...."
It was even worse. "We ain't come to play school.... classes are pointless."
Knucklehead indeed... but he straightened up and flew right when it most mattered... and now he has a national title and he's in the NFL. Good for him.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
There's a whole backstory to that tweet that people either forget or didn't know. The whole reason CJ tweeted that was because he had studied really hard for a test that was some sort of essay. He got a poor grade that he felt was unjustified and that was why he posted the "pointless" post.
Ako ne možete postavljati bez gluposti ... nemojte
Ako vièeš na suce, ti si šupak
I thought he got a B on a quiz or something, that's the story I heard...but yeah, that gets lost a lot when people talk about that tweet - he was frustrated about not getting a grade he wanted, which shows that he really did care about school lolol
Class of 2010.
And he got his degree. The boy became a man.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
That was incredible. Yeah we all know the story but if there is anyone down here in these comments that didn't watch the video, get your ass back up there and watch it.
I'll do it when I get out of this meeting, damn.

Meek, that gave me a good chuckle. Yeah don't risk those paychecks but as long as you do it!
I did, I did... and it was worth it.
Urban’s a different guy now that he’s retired.
Maybe, but he rips on CJ just as he always has. It gets kinda old. Cardale is a legend and deserves respect. Why don’t we ever hear about the knucklehead that drove drunk in the middle of the season, or evaded the cops, or tried to receive special treatment?
So you’re asking why his telling of the story which highlights Cardale’s growth starts off with contrasting his maturity from early in the year? Or you’d prefer that Meyer detour the story to give a token measure of criticism to another player whom you obviously disdain? That is completely not this story. If Meyer bothers you so much in his telling of his perspective where he was involved first hand, perhaps you should cheer for only coaches who think like you about everything.
Not close. He ALWAYS starts Cardale stories with the bad. He NEVER starts JT stories with anything bad. What I disdain is the favoritism and blind loyalty. I believe that to be a fair criticism.
As a father, coach and teacher there is no greater feeling as watching a young person “transform” in front of you. Some kids just seem to always “get it.” And, don’t get me wrong, I love those kids too, but when a “knucklehead” (for the younger crowd this term is not mean-spirited, it simply describes someone who is a good person, but one who gets in their own way too often) turns the corner and starts to reach their potential, it’s the most beautiful thing in the world to see.
This is the story that Urban is telling. Not only is he not “ripping” Cardale, he is sharing a personal account of watching a young man grow up in front of his very eyes. And, as competitive as Urban is, and as happy as hoisting that trophy was, it is those moments that we hold onto and revel in when the whistles are hung up for good.
A joy which death alone can still.
Or.....he failed to see that Cardale had a lot to offer simply because he didn’t fit a model in Urban’s head.
Its a very funny story, but It shows that the kid just needed a chance.
The "outside the hashmarks" story was illuminating. Hopefully Ryan Day will take an analogous approach with Justin Fields -- don't set him up to make mistakes early on.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"
-- Urban Meyer
And Wisconsin cooperated ... I laughed.
One for the ages for sure lol.
You could almost see in his face reliving the shock that they were happy to oblige
The gameplan was all through the book "The Chase" that came out after the season. ITs a pretty good read.
:*) man I miss that late season run, great story.
How is that season not a movie already.
Also, I'm not crying, you're crying.
1. Coach is always right.
2. See rule #1.
That was awesome man. Cardale Jones talks about it on the Beanie and Boom podcast, it's interesting to hear it from his voice. Different story and more inside view from Jones, but it ends up telling a different story. I watched it on Youtube Beanie and Boom Podcast.
Number one, win the rivalry game. And number two, win every game after that.
Absolutely. Tremendous story-telling, Coach! Hollywood couldn't come up with a story as good as that unbelievable run.
Cardale Muthafucking Jones
I Hate Michigan.
Edge of my seat at work listening to this. I could watch and listen to that all day !!!
Why do I laugh every time I hear the term knucklehead? Its like perfect.
Was Cardale in attendance for that story? Wondering who Urbs nodded at at the end.
I hope so, because for all of his flaws - when you say "I have DUDES on my team!" Cardale Jones is actually in more of those comments than many of us realized - until America did!
I would rather be on hand with 10 men then elsewhere with 10,000 - Timur Lenk
What an amazing run and great memory. You'll never see anything like that ever again. Ever!
After beating Oregon, I told my son that he needs to tell his grandchildren the story of the greatest 3 game run by a 3rd string quarterback 30 years from now. His position in Buckeye folklore is forever cemented.
That's a story that's like wine.
What a season, only out done by the post-season. That conference championship game was like, a first wish for the magic lamp.
Dat man.....(Cardale) he got a spot in my heart, forever.
That was simply a magical season. I don't know if you could script a better one, ha.
We all know the story, but I was still glued to the screen sitting at the edge of my seat. Some strange moisture appeared in my eyes over the last 5 seconds of the video. What is that about???
Just amazing. I've listened 3 times. Thus far.

Cardizzle is forever a Buckeye hero.
"The future is bright at Ohio State." - Urban Meyer 1/1/15
He may be a knucklehead, but he's our knucklehead. Forever.
I just hope he makes the roster or the colts pick him up now.
Urban-Cardale’s love-hate relationship continues.
Nut on top
There wasn't a team in the country that would have been able to beat the Buckeyes during that last stretch.
For a while, I thought we were going to beat ourselves against Oregon.
That’s an awesome story. Cardale Jones has to be the most unique player in Buckeye football history. From third string to making huge plays in the CFB Playoff & National Title games.
Two greatest sports stories, this and “The George Brett Story”.
Urban likes to appear tough; he is tough. But he's got heart, deep through the heart.
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina I ka Pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. (Hawai'i state motto) Aloha nui kakou.
After watching the video, I believe Urban is a changed man, from who he was during his time at Florida. Whether it was a medical scare, or understanding how much his family really meant to him that made a difference, I don't know. But, it seems he had a true love for his Buckeye players. From the outside looking in, it appeared winning was his ONLY thing with the Gators.
But, I believe the Lord has changed me the last 6 years. When you are put in a position to finally address issues of the past, it is either "crumble-time", or change for HIS good.
I have been impressed listening to the interviews of Ryan Day, assistant coaches and players. It appears they know what they are talking about, and believe in the new system that has been installed. I look forward to the product on the field Saturday.
Go Bucks, beat FAU!

But, it seems he had a true love for his Buckeye players. From the outside looking in, it appeared winning was his ONLY thing with the Gators.
He had (has) a pretty big man crush on Tebow.
I'll never forget the way Cardale ran back to the bench after that first TD pass to Devin Smith against Wisconsin. It was as if he was saying, "I CAN do this!" And of course, he did. Three times. What an improbable story that was.
OSU 2019 defense - The Twelfth Man
Cardale Jones will always be one of my all time favorite Buckeyes.
Art Briles 2014 season story sounds, umm, quite different. Remember him? Neither does anyone else.
Dolo is a legend.
I do remember it because of all of the sht the Buckeyes and conference took, not just for the playoff selection but before then, all season long, even here. The B1G was rodneydangerfielded all season long.
Then Dantonio put a fork in briles (I like how Pervis set the game up.)
Cardale's most underrated play was the 4th and 1 QB sneak against Oregon. He was stuffed, bounced outside and dove passed the line to gain. They turned it over a couple plays later, but you could tell Oregon's defense would've needed divine intervention to stop the Bucks.
Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.
What a magical season there's a lot more adversity in the 14 season then just the quarterbacks that team had a lot of guts and focus
" we play to win the game "
What a great transformation story that we all got to witness. It’s great to hear from Coach’s perspective, as he lived it, while got to watch it. I will enjoy hearing this story told forever. Geeze, what an improbable and historic run. It was magic. Go Bucks!
I remember, I think it was cleveland.com that interviewed Tyvis in the locker room after the B1GCG and Tyvis mentioned that Cardale spent a lot less time playing Call of Duty that week LOL...great story for sure, dude grew up in a matter of days. It would have been easy for that team to lose the B1GCG and then probably go lose a random NY6 bowl...only team in college football history to lose 2 QBs and somehow come out of the other end better.
Legendary. When Urban calls him a Knucklehead it's with nothing but love, like a father and son, I love my son dearly but sometimes he's a knucklehead, good kid, and like Urban with CJ, I love to see when he steps up and proves he's growing....it's not tearing them down, it's setting the proper stage to demonstrate the growth they achieve and it's awesome.
"I don't want to be around average, why be around average!" -UFM
Lol. So basically he's saying that Cardale early on in his career was the type of guy that might run out to the huddle and forget to take his helmet with him.
Maybe I was mistaken, but I thought Jones' tone in the interview with Beanie (and things CJ has said reading between the lines) hinted that he felt Meyer sabotaged his entry into the NFL after the 2014 championship season.
If that is true, I find it odd, since Jones' return in 2015 really screwed up what many of us thought were Meyer's QB succession plans for 3 years.
It was Ed Warriner who supposedly to be the one who sabotaged his nfl entry.
After winning it all, I bet them scrambled eggs tasted mighty good!
I'd rather be a minute early than an hour early, 'cause I like to procrastinate.
