Bengals Announce Michael Jordan As Starting Left Guard, Billy Price to Serve Backup Role Along Offensive Line

I gotta think Price isn't 100% healthy, he's way better than Trey Hopkins and even better than Jordan. One would also think that Price and Jordan already having played next to each other for two seasons had to count for something.

NFL is a different deal. I love Billy and was psyched the bungles took him. Injuries yes but he's been consistently underperforming at the pro level, and its apparently been clear Hopkins is the better option this year. I really want to see him be the guy to anchor the line but unfortunately not all Bucks automatically become NFL studs. There's a whole 'nother level of "weeding out" to take place and from what I'm seeing unfortunately Billy is getting weeded out.

^ This.  I love Price.  And I was psyched when the team drafted him.  But so far during Price's career, Hopkins has looked like the better option.

That's great news for MJ. Sorry Billy got bumped, but I'm sure he's still going to get plenty of snaps. Go Bucks Bengals!

I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.

I'm apathetic on the Bengals lately. I used to go to their open training camp sessions and all that crap but after the last few years coupled with them passing on Haskins - I just don't care. I hope the OSU boys play lights out so the buckeye-hating douchebags at Cincy jungle will be forced to admit that OSU produces good pro's.

You can't really blame them for passing on Haskins to draft the top projected tackle in the draft (even though Jonah Williams is likely to miss his entire rookie season), especially when their line was/is a dumpster fire.

Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.

truth. I would love to have seen them draft Haskins but a great QB behind a crap line is a recipe for failure....addressing the O-line was the right choice...the down-voter does not like the truth apparently.

Joe Goodberry(Bengal athletic writer) had a pretty good write up about how Price needs moved to guard. His short arms and low end athleticism is hurting him more than his top end strength and intelligence/work ethic are helping him at center. At center he is required to go reach almost every play which is his weakness. Once he gets into somebody he excels but he is having problems getting to the defensive lineman/LBs. Playing guard would allow him to line up directly over a defensive tackle mostly every play.

MJ starting after leaving early is a great sign and could be the guard of the future

Heard rumors during last season that the coaching staff was concerned that Price was not going to be as good at center as they had hoped.  Not all that detail, but that there was concern.  Not surprised at MJ starting well.  Any offensive lineman who can win a starting spot at a college program with talent like OSU has is the real deal.

MJ’s back at his natural position. Very cool. Congrats sir. And o expect Price to play a lot.

Vikings moved Elflein from center to guard.  Maybe Price can find his fit over one spot, opposite Jordan.

Jordan and Price are just more natural at guard. Bengals need to wise up before he moves to another team and becomes an all-pro.

Taylor confirmed Price is still battling a foot injury a little over a week ago. I think he’ll still get a chance to start once fully healthy. It’s not a good look to bench your 1st round selection after one year, especially with the money you’re paying him and I really doubt Taylor would do this if Price was fully healthy.

Gotta respect Jordan for putting the team first and agreeing to move from guard, where he was an AA level talent and apparently an nfl starter-caliber player, to center, where he couldn’t get snap counts down consistently and was pretty awful at snapping the ball when in shotgun. That move probably cost him a lot of money in last year’s draft.

I didn't realize that the players decided what position they get to play at OSU. Of course one might think that the added versatility of being able to play center might actually make him more valuable, perhaps even allow him to stick.

Being both a Buckeye fan and Bengals fan, I was pretty underwhelmed with the Price pick (I know Cincy was wanting Ragnow badly but Detroit snagged him right before they were picking and Price felt like a reach). I just never thought he played like a first round OL with Ohio State; he showed flashes, but he was pretty inconsistent for the most part.

Price has not been as advertised since he joined the Bengals, has played average or below even later last season. He's not been bad but certainly has not lived up to his billing. Rather that's the injuries or he was overrated coming out of college will be determined.

I'm happy as hell for MJ, and really hoping Billy heals and gets his groove back. Love to see Buckeyes do well in the league.

That being said, having grown up in the area, I am firmly convinced that Cincy pro sports team suck donkey balls. Cheap ass owners and clueless front office people. The only time it's been good was baseball in the mid 70's (and a couple of years around the early 90's) and football had a couple of years in the Kenny Anderson / Boomer Esaison time frame. As much as I like to see Buckeyes get to "stay home" in Ohio to play pro ball, it's almost like these teams are where careers go to die. I'm afraid the Bungles will misuse Billy to the point where he gets hurt and doesn't ever really get well. Maybe he'll get the chance to get with a team that will let him heal and then help him maximize the shit ton of talent he has naturally. I've just become less and less of a Cincy sports fan over the years.

God, I can't wait for next Saturday! Go Bucks!!

As a Cleveland fan I almost just wish a group would purchase the team from mike and give him a small percentage of the team in the deal so he can still tell people he’s an owner but doesn’t really have control.  When you run your team as a business to make money only and without care for titles or quality the fans deserve better.  He needs to apprentice under Kraft.

As a Cincinnati fan you (cleveland fan) clearly don't understand how the Brown family functions. You just wasted about 30 seconds of your life typing that take I to the comments. AMD that's way more than the Brown family deserves from you. We've all been suffering down here our entire lives but we've learned there's no need to gripe about it anymore. The family is happy to be garbage because unfortunately garbage = $$$$$ in this messed up paradigm we call the NFL.

All the best to our former buckeyes but heaven help them when they have to go up against that nasty Cleveland defensive line.  They’re gonna need it.

Price is a natural guard period, that's where he needs the opportunity to prove his worth once fully healthy.

Billy Price lost the starting center job to Trey Hopkins. He says you can be upset and "go get a bottle of whiskey and put yourself in a dark dirty hole" or get better and help this team win.
