They played the OSU big ten elite program from 2002, which I think is awesome since Miami plays today, and just knowing football starts for the Bucks next week, and the pure elation after that game, I honestly shed a tear.

i love this team

You can feed a bobcat all the chili it wants. That don't mean it's going to crap out diamonds.

So basically recruiting is finished.

Fuck eSECpn and fuck Mythigan.

HS

Until official visits start and then silly season begins in November

Predicting that the 2021 thread gets more comments over the next 2 months.

HS
buckbornbred's picture

Who trucked Landon Collins? Was it Cardale Jones?

HS
KBonay's picture

Here are those throws by Jack Miller discussed in previous thread

HS
keith7456's picture

Those throws are on the money under extreme duress. I'm impressed.

HS
LandonTruckedCollins's picture

The recruiting ratings can get F'd.  I'm convinced.  That's our QB1.

HS
buckslan's picture

Those first two throws are NFL level throws. I'm very impressed.

HS

Before somebody says pump the brakes...no we are not going to pump the brakes.

HS
LandonTruckedCollins's picture

One more comment on this... Anyone else reminded of Aaron Rodgers watching these clips?

HS
swflbuckeye1's picture

How is this kid ranked so low. Not saying he is the #1 QB in this class but damn he looks like the #1 QB in the country.

HS
Rgeiger24's picture

Couldn't compete at camps. Jack won Elite 11 regional over Bryce Young, the third ranked QB in the country. Seemingly been hurt ever since then until a few weeks ago. Think ratings drop was pretty crazy, but I get how it happens

HS
Smitty516's picture

Because Tommy Lugibill “knows something” that us ignorant fans don’t...

HS
KBonay's picture

Also, this happened last night as well.

HS
Popsikle211's picture

I think the season will heat the recruiting game back up. No doubt people were neging Ryan Day not having experience and that made our team not as likely to succeed as in the past. What we have before us is an opportunity to shut those voices up. I for one can’t wait to see this team come out swinging.

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

There's just not much news right now for 2020. It's a result of the great work the staff did to land 22 commits before the season started which I'm pretty sure is a record for us.

Now from all accounts there is no hard cap and the staff may be looking to add up to 5 more guys to this class. Right now we know that will consist of 2 RB's (1 being APB),  at least 1 more DL, and at least 1 more DB.

It also seems as if there's been a complete full reset on RB recruiting and maybe even a partial reset on DL recruiting. So until we start getting official visits there won't really be any news. However, again, the good news is that official visits start next week :)

HS
buckslan's picture

I'd like to see Michael Drennen be the APB in this class. I'm warming up to the idea of having him in this class.

HS
KBonay's picture
HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Obviously would be the dream addition to the class. There's nothing out there on this but maybe we get a visit from Tre Bradford's teammate and fellow LSU DB commit Lorando Johnson.

Though I definitely still want us to flip Sooner commit Ryan Watts. Think he has elite potential at 6-3.

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Reminder that Kourt Williams is on ESPN2 tonight against Marshawn Lloyd's team.

Game also features 2021 WR target Beaux Collins who we are considered a leader for and likely in his top 2 at the moment.

HS
NHBuckeye's picture

I watched some bits of this game.  Lloyd would be a great flip if we can pull it off.  Shifty in the open field yet runs with power for a smaller guy.  Smaller meaning height-wise only.  He's very well put together.

Reminder that Julian Fleming is on ESPN2 today at 2PM EST.

HS

Just let a deep ball go straight through his hands.

Watched him do some blocking downfield on that first drive. Good to see.

HS
KBonay's picture

He got flagged for a 'hold' on a TD run that was pretty much BS.

HS
Rgeiger24's picture

The defender never even tried to go right and get off the block. If he did there was a good chance Fleming holds bc of his hand positioning but he didn't

HS
Rgeiger24's picture

How does a school in Pennsylvania with 450 kids have a QB/LB with 14 D1 offers, a RB/LB committed to Michigan to wrestle and play football, and the best receiver in the country?

HS
raiderred's picture

Parents move kids to programs all the time. Their coach seems to be a legend there so I bet he draws a lot of talent from all over.

HS
Rgeiger24's picture

This is true but I just havent heard of any of those guys doing that. Would assume that's the case but it's still insane if half of the team is from there

HS
raiderred's picture

Yeah it is crazy no doubt. Got to have a great youth football program. My school was 3x there size and we still wouldn’t have been able to compete with them

HS
stxbuck's picture

Fleming was just genetic luck-his family has lived in the district for a long time. His grandfather was the longtime girls hoops coach at So. Columbia.

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Some good stuff from Givler on his west coast travels this week. Biggest takeaways for me after reading the article:

- Gonna go watch some CJ Stroud QB film tonight
- Ryan Watts still strong option for 3rd corner
- Going to watch some DE Tyler Baron film tonight
- Pick Central Chris Scott moving from receiver to DB is intriguing (think he'd be in this class under a Tressel regime)
- 2021 LB haul could be ridiculous
- Give me either Bradford or Lloyd

https://ohiostate.forums.rivals.com/threads/west-coast-insider-notes.95779/

HS
KBonay's picture

Think an offer coming for CJ?

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Oh I have no idea. I'm not great at guessing offers but if we do as a second QB I'm all for it.

Edit: I'm all for it bc we'll basically have Fields, Hoak, and Miller next year. Adding another QB isn't the worst idea.

Here's CJ's highlights from this weekend: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/8114287/5d61ad8c1600810d5c8cf1e9

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

IMO the Stroud film I posted above is kinda like watching a little version of Haskins. I'm not great at comps btw but that's just what it looks like to me.

HS
SGbuckeye's picture

Haskins high school film is the best high school QB film I've ever seen, as far as throwing goes. Excited to see how Miller and Stroud's senior year film looks over the course of the season.

HS
UrbzRenewal's picture

His throwing on the run and under pressure is much better than Haskins' was in HS, but Stroud is more athletic (from a movement perspective) in general than him.

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Correction: Chris Scott is with Pick North not Pick Central

HS
B1Gbuckeye's picture

Chris Scott made a one handed catch in a scrimmage against Canal on Friday. Him and Jack Sawyer going up for 50/50 balls will impossible to stop.

HS
Attack51's picture

Hopefully the full court press is on for Lloyd this year. He looked fantastic against Bosco the other night. Huge gap between he and Bradford in my opinion. South Carolina has a brutal schedule and will probably win somewhere between 5-7 games.

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

It appears that a visit from Lloyd is very likely to happen during the season

HS
EBBuck03's picture

If that visit happens I think we can make the flip happen. Alford has had a relationship with Lloyd early on in the process, so the foundation is there. Givler being all over this has definitely made my ears perk up.

HS
buckslan's picture

The Stroud/Haskins comparison is pretty solid imo. Both seem to have a lightning quick release and a big arm.

Is Stroud and Jack Miller more of an AND situation, as in we could get both, or an OR situation?

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Nothing to this point indicates it's an OR situation. Apparently the staff has discussed with Miller for awhile now the need for a second QB and he's said he's fine with it.

HS
Rgeiger24's picture

It would only be an AND situation from what I hear. Birm has been very much in the Jack Miller is QB1 boat for a long time now. I would be surprised to see Stroud come in behind Miller with Fields here for a year (likely) and the McCord a year after. Now, If Ohio State is your dream school and you trust your confidence and you think Ryan Day is a QB whisperer. You can go for 2-3 years, be a backup, develop, and follow a similar path to Joe Burrow where you compete for a job with like McCord/Miller and then transfer to an elite program that needs a QB and likely be developed better than you would have been at a school like LSU. That being said, I don't think that the most realistic option for CJ. I would assume he could get a QB1 offer to an D1 program. I do think that what I stated above will become more common because let's face it, transferring to an elite program with good athletes, line, ect after training at an elite program for 3 years is much more likely to produce an NFL quality QB with better exposure than going to play at Akron or even places like Illinois or Rutgers. I just think it will become common with QBs a little bit lower than CJ on the totem pole. The added bonus there is that after 3 years you can hand-pick a spot that 100% needs you and you will be ready to start. Now QBs go to a school assuming in 2 years they'll be the guy and a million things change until then and it doesn't always work out. If you get to choose your final location last, you are less likely to be in a bad position (don't tell Tate)

HS

Cant tell if Birm is telling us to read between the lines or is issuing a general statement.

https://lettermenrow.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting/ohio-state-bucke...

Larry Johnson is one of the country’s most patient recruiters, and most of the work he’s doing on the recruiting trail stays silent because he handles himself meticulously and privately. That being the case, the names to know aren’t really out there publicly, and that’s why it’s so important to pay close attention to who actually visits Columbus this season and when they do it.

The offseason is the longest season.

HS
NorthPoleBuckeye's picture

sounds like he is telling us to "watch what they do"

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Per BG, the hot name in RB recruiting is FL RB and Pitt commit Henry Parrish (5-10 170). Was told our staff has kicked the tires on Parrish after his 324yd 3TD performance this past week. Unclear on how serious our interest is though.

Highlights from last week: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/7483266/5d5ea9beff0c8c0e503d2e2e

IMO if we offer as an APB I'm all for it

Edit: last run is filthy and it does look a little like McCall in high school IMO

HS
CardaleFTW's picture

Am I absolutely horrendous at evaluating and comparing film... or does this kid look like one of the best players in the country?

It's a beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio... and TTUN still sucks.

HS
NHBuckeye's picture

He looks pretty damn good to me too.  Would love to see him in Columbus.

Fields of Dreams

HS
'57Champs's picture

Not only from Columbus, but it looks just like he's playing ttun already.

Because I couldn't go for 3.

HS
stxbuck's picture

He's fast and hits the hole quick, but that team he was playing was awful-I don't think anyone laid a hand on him that entire film. By comparison, I was watching a bit of Jaylen Knighton-Deerfield Beach playing Miami-Carol City-big time talent factory-and he had to work for everything he got-busted a couple big runs, but he wasn't looking like a video game, and he finished w/ 14 carries for 50 yards or something that, and his team got squashed.

HS

Last play had be thinking of Barry...

HS
Triv's picture

Funny enough, Parrish shared the field that night with Miami commit Don Chaney Jr. who is the number 32 overall player in the country. Chaney plays for Belen Jesuit, who Columbus was playing.

Chaney's statline on the night was 17 carries for 61 yards.

Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite

HS

I hope his nickname is Lon.

HS
NHBuckeye's picture

Not really a monster stat line for Chaney though.

Wasn't there a Parrish that played on Miami a while back, is he related to this young man?

HS
swflbuckeye1's picture

I think you are thinking of roscoe Parrish. Not sure if he is related.

HS
NorthPoleBuckeye's picture

Yes, he would be the one. He played for Miami and Henry is from Miami, so I wonder if there is a family connection.

HS

Not his kid. Roscoe's son is Roscoe, Jr.

Don’t have a membership so can’t see myself, but a quick google search revealed that this is also on the 247 boards and (as of now) nowhere else. Hopefully this is a whole lot of nothing, or if true there is a damn good reason for it that hopefully won’t tank this kids shot at fulfilling his dreams.

HS
EBBuck03's picture

Whole lot of nothing on this from Givler, Bank, or BK.

HS
USArmyBuckeye's picture

Hopefully that’s indicative of a whole lotta nothing rather than they are still working the story

HS
OhioState24's picture

Givler said that this might actually be a situation where he's leaving to try and graduate early.

HS
Rgeiger24's picture

The tweets of Mookie and his mom seem frustrated, but that fact that they are tweeting about it, although without specifics, is a good sign that nothing seemingly went wrong on their end. If I didn't know any better, it sounds like they think someone else is attempting to get in his way of doing something. That's all I've seen though.

With Taylor leaving Friday, Jason is going to have to open the purse strings or work some contractual magic to keep someone on the books here long term. I love 11W more than anyone, but it's an absolute A+ premier job that's being treated like the UC head coaching gig.

HS
FieldsofJreams's picture

The 11W recruiting beat has become a safe school.

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

Taylor is a great dude and has done an awesome job. It's been a pleasure working with him even though he's obviously been the full-time guy and way more involved than myself. He has a very bright future.

Knarcisi's picture

Andrew, what’s keeping you from being the full time recruiting guy here on 11W?

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

I'm not an actual journalist like any of the full-time guys. Those dudes all went to school for this stuff and have dedicated a ton of time and effort to their craft. I've never interviewed anyone (at least not in the same capacity that they do), attended a media event, or done a lot of the other stuff they do on a daily basis. I obviously love following the team and recruiting and try to stay as involved as I can (given the amount of time I have), but I couldn't make a career out of it as these guys have done.

NorthPoleBuckeye's picture

I think you are selling yourself a little short Andrew, your articles are on par to others on here and I think you would do fine attending media events and asking the same sort of questions that are asked on here. I think your love for the team would carry you quite far.

HS
stxbuck's picture

I’ll say it straight-you have much better info and insight about tOSU recruiting than the cub reporter twitter/press conference regurgitators actually employed by 11W.

HS
urbansjacket2's picture

No surprise at all, he has been killing it lately. And my original comment isn't anything against Taylor at all. He's an IU grad and this opp seems like an ideal fit for him. The reality is, this job is too good to be a stepping stone. And what happened with each guy before Taylor (Alex, Birm, Andrew) are all nuanced and different, but don't think it's unfair to hope we can get a little longevity and stability. Hell, just hire Bank Greene away from 247 and call it a day ;)

HS
NorthPoleBuckeye's picture

When was this announced that he was leaving?

HS

I forgot to post as I have been on Vacation but here is some 247 #1 AP back Will Shipley news from recent

https://www.charlotteobserver.com/site-services/newsletters/high-school-...

His first game this season against Ardrey Kell, Shipley dashed 59 yards for an early touchdown and added a fourth-quarter score on a 10-yard pass.

The only true worry we should have about this 2019 team is this:

Why is Sevyn Banks wearing number 12?

HS
RaleighBuckeye's picture

I scouted this game for a coach playing Weddington’s  upcoming game. FYI from a coach, Clemson is playing the we are elite game and telling him, they only offer a couple at perspective positions, which is utter bs. Dabo plays the offer a bunch of non connitable players. ND has been on Shipley strong too, couple of his lacrosse friends committed to ND so if we are going to get this kid we will need to send in our A+ team.

HS
Northbrook's picture

Wrong thread guys. Shipley is 2021.

NHBuckeye's picture

Fields of Dreams

HS
Rgeiger24's picture

This is due to leaving Illinois connections to coach I assume?

HS
Rgeiger24's picture

No. Why it's good for ohio state. It's good for ohio state because the school he was enrolled with had heavy Illinois ties I believe. I think there has always been concern that a competent year from illinois could help them get someone like him, especially before he committed. Now with moving away from that coaching staff, I believe the pressure from Illinois will be less. I assume that's what AE means at least

HS
Triv's picture

Could be a bit of both, but the primary reason for the transfer is so that he can graduate and enroll early, which is certainly good for Ohio State.

Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

I think it’s a bit of both. I assumed he’d be able to play this year though so it’ll be interesting to see how that situation plays out.

2019 class news again but Peyton Powell is already transferring from Baylor. Per the article apparently it's bc he wants to play QB.

https://247sports.com/college/baylor/Article/2019-4-star-Signee-Peyton-P...

If true IMO he has no shot at the NFL as a QB since you have to throw the ball and read defenses at that level.

HS
buckslan's picture

Weren't we recruiting him as a DB? Dodged a bullet there.

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

Yes corner. Not sure if we dodged a bullet really. He could turn out to be a good one. Playing QB was a strange decision though.

buckslan's picture

I meant dodged a bullet in the sense that it could have happened to us if he signed his LOI to OSU, transferring.

HS
Dweinz's picture
HS
stxbuck's picture

Imo, the Powell thing sounds like a result of the trend of 'over-athleteing" the QB position-like what happened with Torrance Gibson. I'd rather have a kid with a popgun arm (within reason) and a million dollar brain at QB over an athletic freak who can't make reads and decisions on the field to save their life.   Kenny Guiton vs. Torrance Gibson.

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Pretty sure most of us could play QB with guys like Gee Scoot at WR and look good:

I honestly wonder what he would go up to if he decommitted. If he Went on 4 official visits to big games during the season to say Georgia, Bama, Clemson and LSU and decided to announce on ESPN on National Signing Day. I would almost guarantee ESPN who has him rated in the 200s now (the only service who doesn’t have him as a 5*) would move him into the top 10 players.  Making him a composite top 10 player.

HS
JarheadBuck's picture

If he were Clemson or Bama-worthy, he'd be able to make those catches with 2 fingers.

HS
stxbuck's picture

As long as he does it in pads when the band is playing........

HS
Attack51's picture

Couple ratings notes from the 247 Recruiting Podcast, Henry Parrish will be getting a bump from 247. Likely from a 87 rating to an 89, which is a high 3*, and they'll be watching him throughout the year for a move into 4*. 247 is already much higher on him than Composite ranking is as they have him at 640 nationally, and RB41. A bump up to an 89 grade should put him somewhere around the top 400 nationally and top 25 RB (not including APB's)

Clark Phillips, currently ranked 33 by 247, will likely end up as a 5* during their final rankings. Every time they've seen him at a camp or on the field he looks more physical while remaining very very fluid. They also said he has closed the gap between he and Ricks/Ringo. Sounded like everyone was on board with him being in the top 32 and a 5* once they finalize rankings.

HS
Triv's picture

They also said he has closed the gap between he and Ricks/Ringo. Sounded like everyone was on board with him being in the top 32 and a 5* once they finalize rankings.

Ringo is the best pure athlete of the 3
Ricks is the best pure cover corner of the 3
Phillips is Ricks in a smaller body. If he (5'10") was Ricks size (6'2") he would be the number 1 corner in the country imo.

HS

If we are judging purely by HS film, Cam Martinez would be a top 3 recruit for us. He's a human highlight reel.

HS
buckbornbred's picture

Martinez = Jalin Marshall. Will likely play H-back.

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Right now he's the second safety in the class.

HS
stxbuck's picture

Martinez is faster than Marshall. He could play H, but he has the range to play DB like he wants to.

HS
buckslan's picture

Only way he's an H back in college is if Jaelen Gill shifts back to RB after the year. I think Cam has already said he wants to play safety anyways or expects to.

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

Never rule out anything but Gill I think has a good year as backup H to KJ.

Cam moving to defense I think is also a result of Mookie being the H aka slot guy in this class.

Jaylon Knighton’s Seminoles just got beat by Boise. FSU seems destined for a 6-6 season and if I had to bet Willie will be gone. I doubt Knighton sticks with them when willie and the whole staff is replaced. Do we kick the tires on Knighton. Or did he burn the bridge by lying to the staff that he would be a buckeye. Seems like Larry may have moved on.

HS
logamaniac's picture

Taggart signed a six-year, $30 million deal to become head coach at FSU. He will be under contract until January 31, 2024.

If Taggart is fired by FSU at any point, Taggart will receive 85 percent of the remaining compensation left on his contract. The payments would be made on a monthly basis over the remaining term of the contract.

taggart isn’t going anywhere unless some donors kick into the fund to cover it

HS
swflbuckeye1's picture

If they go 5-7 or even 4-8 rich donors will be lining up to buyout taggart. There not gonna sit by idly and let him run there program into the ground because he is still owed $17 mil

HS

Eh. Just one article on FSU's troubles. I dont think they have the deep pockets that some of the other blue bloods have.

HS
Kangarooman's picture

Sounds like Willie's buyout would be 17 million if he's fired this year, so it's expected he'll get a year 3.

That said, I think that's even more reason to call him. Knighton will have no idea who he's playing for as a sophomore, and will be playing for a dead man walking as a freshman.

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

Wouldn't be surprised if things fall apart there and the Buckeyes check in. Would be foolish not to. I also wouldn't say that Knighton lied to the staff. I'm sure he was completely genuine in wanting to be a Buckeye and believed he would be. Then he went home and his family pressured him to go to FSU. I'm not going to blame a kid for his family putting him in a spot that, in my opinion, was unfair to him. I doubt the Buckeye staff blamed the kid either. It's really tough in these situations for the kid to tell his family "no" and it's unfortunate he was put in that position.

HS

Miami was the one that BG said he was worried about in the long run. I think they’ll have a solid year. Manny Diaz has a bright future there. Closer to home. I bet Miami is where he puts pen to paper.

It's a beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio... and TTUN still sucks.

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

Miami, amazingly, does not currently have a ranked opponent on its schedule after losing to Florida. That was a rough loss for them. Probably should have won that game and they have a cupcake schedule the rest of the way. If they can't go at least 9-3 with this schedule it'll be a bad year for them. The ACC is a mess.

Lol I see Tennessee is down 2 scores to freaking Georgia State with 5 minutes left. Excuse me while I go check their commit list for potential flips......

HS

Yeah I know but this is a new low even for them. GA State football team has been in existence for 9 years this year and went 2-10 last year while being dead last in college defense. This can't be great for their recruiting and I'm really hoping Tyler Baron does not want any part of that dumpster fire.

HS

My uninformed opinion says take him.  As long as he isn't concerned with Miller and McCord coming with him.  The best will play and if Stroud doesn't ever win the job, he is good enough to push the best in practice every day.  I know people are gun-shy about taking multiple QB's given what just happened this off-season, but i am of the opinion that if he or anyone else wants to grad transfer after developing in our system and providing competition for the starter, more power to them.

HS

They still have Bama, Georgia, Clemson, Texas AM, Florida as auto Ls, while also playing Vanderbilt, @Tennessee, Kentucky, App state and @Mizzou. Gonna have to win all of those in the second group to make a bowl.

HS

As it relates to job security for Muschamp, SC seemingly likes the direction the program is going in, so unless it's a 2-10 type of debacle, there won't be a new head coach.

HS
swflbuckeye1's picture

I think that is a definite possibility. Look at their schedule. They’ll win next week and then they will most likely lose every game but Tennessee, Missouri and App state. I could easily see them only win 1 or 2 of those games. I think they likely win 3 total but 2 wins is not out of the realm of possibility by any stretch.

HS

2. Henry Parrish or Jalen Berger or Drennen

Went foggy on the Drennen crystal ball. It doesn't really have anything to do with him visiting this weekend. More so just because I wasn't really feeling the Stanford pick and I think that one is still totally up in the air.

Jahmyr Gibbs tweets he's received his Ohio State offer. Got a pretty solid offer list. His Jr. tape was really good I thought. Through his first two games as a Senior, he's already over 600 yards rushing with 12 TD's.

HS
Hoosierbuck7's picture

Agreed. Gibbs film doesn't look a 3* prospect. Very Dobbins-esque (high school film and freshman year) IMHO.

I totally get the quick offer and think the staff will approach this like they did Crowley. They'll want to get him on campus ASAP, and try to woo him away from GT before any of the southern powers take notice. He's a diamond in the rough.

Not sure if he's actually the 5-11 194 he's listed at, but his film from spring was really good. To my very untrained eye, looks like a perfect APB replacement for Knighton. Actually looks tougher and faster than anybody we're recruiting for APB outside of Knighton.

That's bad logic. The overall talent might be tremendous, but there still terrible teams in these states. Without knowing what kind of league he plays in, what division he plays in, or what their schedule looks like, you simply can't make assumptions like that.

Note - I am NOT saying this applies to this kid, haven't watched a second of film...for all I know he might be the next Zeke.

Does special teams coach Matt Barnes even recruit? I have yet to read any story about him recruiting let alone actually landing a commitment. I believe Barnes is from the Maryland area but he doesn't have any elite recruits from that region even though it is ridiculously loaded. Maryland produces by far the most talent of any Big Ten state and almost all of it is going to the SEC or Clemson. Ohio State CANNOT let that continue to happen.

If Barnes isn't going to recruit why not let a graduate assistant coach special teams and hire someone with connections in the DMV area like a high school coach?

HS
SpoonerBuck33's picture

He does recruit most people just don't pay attention bc Hafley and Hartline get a ton of the pub. Barnes was a big part of landing Cam Martinez if i recall and Jake Seibert. He doesn't really have an area right now though I've seen him mentioned by kids in OH and MI. LJ handles DMV area. But he's been mentioned by a recruits in articles.

Also, and I don't want to hijack this thread, but our special teams actually looked special good and disciplined last week for the first time in awhile.

HS
BABuckeye's picture

Someone may have data showing how long recruitments last, I thought it takes a full cycle for assistant coaches to fill their pipeline, leading to big recruiting wins a year later. It takes time to build relationships. Sure, there  are a few cases where top recruits follow a coach, and there are a few cases where top recruits make a late decision, but for I suspect most top recruits commit after a long recruitment.

The Gibbs Jr. season film is nice. Aside from the obvious attributes, he is very instinctive, always seems to find the right hole and is very, very smooth and natural. And this might sound silly, but he runs with that forward lean, kinda the way Hershel Walker used to run (no, I’m not comparing him to Hershel Walker before anyone jumps me here). But very nice looking prospect. Goes to show, there are underrated guys out there. And remember these kids are being evaluated at 16-17 years old and some develop later than others.

I know most feel "that ship has sailed", but I really hope the staff hasn't given up on this kid and can maybe flip him:

Salpointe Catholic (Tucson, Ariz.) running back and future Texas Longhorn Bijan Robinson had a monster night Friday in a 68-34 win over Desert Edge (Goodyear).
The senior five-star prospect ran for a career-best 489 yards and six touchdowns in three quarters of work as his Lancers improved to 2-0.

A week ago in a 63-6 win over Dobson (Mesa), Robinson ran for 111 yards and four touchdowns on just eight carries. He also ran the second half kickoff back 95 yards for a score.

Was thinking the same thing. Is it becoming a concern that he is injured quite often? It may end up being that he never starts here. Fields will start this year and next and then McCord coming in after that. If he is as good as he looks he MAY be able to take over as a true freshman especially if he is able to be an early enrollee.

HS

You never want the players to get injured but I don't think so. The concern is more that the team is not protecting him and that he will keep getting injured going forward.
