We are getting close!!
"To The House"
I wish we had more injury info. And call me a hater but McCall as the #2 isn’t intriguing to me. He’s extremely undersized and more of a slot than anything imo
Maybe he's performed better than the other backs in camp.
IMO he's the #2 to JK's #1. What I mean by that is if JK were to get injured and miss an entire game, you wouldn't see McCall as the #1. I think you'd still see him as the #2, but with Marcus or Master as the #1.
If that makes sense. Because I agree that I don't know if he can take the beating of 20 carries. But 5? He's dynamic and can handle that kind of a load.
Much like Darren Sproles was too small. Yeah that guy sucks. DmC is a perfect #2 back in a passing offense. Motion out to the slot when needed and be a matchup nightmare.
If he can block is the question and i thinknhe finally put in the work to do so
P.s. I do rhink if JK needs a game rest (fingers crossed) Teague or Crowley will be the "1"
No dv from me but he's not that undersized. Spud Webb WAS undersized. I trust our coaches.
No, Mugsy Bogues was undersized.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
5-9, 195 lbs is not all that undersized. I think that's an non-issue.
I'm still waiting for McCall to finally stay healthy and make plays, but I'm not worried about his size.
5'9" 195lbs are the same measurements as Jaylon Knighton, the RB we just missed out on and people keep berating Alford for missing out on.
So you have 1 group of people that think a RB that size is too small to be a 2nd RB, and then you have others that are bummed we didn't land a RB of that size lol Can't make this up.
Couple years of growth potential from knighton still though. But im laughing too
I don't know how much more Knighton is going to bulk up though if he remains 5'9". He looks filled out for his size. Although I will say on his film he looks more suited for running between the tackles than DmC does.
Rondale Moore didn’t seem to have a problem last year.
Ohio, the greatest state in the Union!
It's as confusing as "Alternate Captains".
Some people are never satisfied
The mark of excellence, the test of greatness, is consistency
I haven't heard many people "berating" Alford for missing out on Jaylon Knighton.. In fact, many people in the know (more in touch with recruiting than me), kind of assumed that even if we got a commitment from Knighton, that the race would have been far from over. Even so, I don't think most of us that would have liked to have landed Knighton would have looked at him as our future primary work-load runningback.
It was more the sting of losing a great RB (Robinson) and a potentially great APB (Knighton) in the same week. Not to mention, as the above commenter mentioned, I think most assumed that Knighton, being only 17 years old, would also fill out physically a little bit before we would have ever dreamed of relying on him as our #1 primary RB.
Either way, I am happy we have McCall, and I would have loved to land Knighton. A team can always find a utility for an elite athlete, even if it isn't to be your bell-cow primary RB.
And ball security
MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS

And I repeat: A wee bit harsh
"you are an classified idiot"
Oh the irony
5'9 195 lbs isn't extremely undersized. Yeah, it isn't big and he isn't going to push a pile but you don't need that quality to be a #1 back. If he can pick up a blitz then he is big enough to be a running back.
He’s extremely undersized and more of a slot than anything imo
You just defined a scat-back. He will be a nice change of pace this year, you’ll see.
Can't wait to see McCall out there in key situations. I think this staff will know how to use him, and I hope he brings the maturity of an upperclassmen to this team. He's experienced the highs and lows, and that experience can be very valuable to the team. And I think the kid is electric with the ball and a little bit of space.
I think this staff will know how to use [McCall]
Yes, Day & staff don't seem interested in pounding a round peg into a square hole—by pounding DMC into the line. Occasionally, perhaps. But pitchouts and running wide seem a more likely and more effective use of his talent.
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
A young man named Archie Griffin was 5' 9" and weighted 189lbs. I know different era, but he was pretty good at that size. (No, I am not saying DMC is Archie Part 2)
Archie was tough... I was amazed at the beating he took game after game after game... avg 21 carries per game... #8 on all-time rushing attempts in the B1G... he was small but Woody used his best weapons.
"The future is bright at Ohio State." - Urban Meyer 1/1/15
At 5-9 200, he isnt a Michigan fullback but that game play doesnt seem to work anymore. :/
There are no more secrets...the cat is out of the bag!
That freaking secondary is going to be nasty. Throw in white at bullet and ohhhh boy
You can feed a bobcat all the chili it wants. That don't mean it's going to crap out diamonds.
Five DBs and four LBs mentioned and Brendon White isn’t one of them?
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
They might not have "shown" much of the bullet, where White figures to get most of his playing time in.
Any info on how Fields looked?
"Year for what?"
Is Mitchell hurt? Was hearing a lot about him early on and now recently nothing?
If we play Okudah, Wade and Arnette with Fuller and White, I think more than Okudah will go in first round and we will have more talent on field than LSU secondary
I think if Coop is out for long, it will have an impact on the D. I thought he was going to have a really strong year with all the attention on Young. The other guys have talent, but not the same.
I don't think there's that much of a drop off, if any between Cooper and Tyreke Smith and the other guys that were already going to play. It's next man up. I doubt it's going to have that big of an impact on the defense if at all.
Ah, but depth is something you have until you don't. Meaning, who's to say player 2 doesn't miss time? Then what? Can't have enough.
Talent is one thing, experience is another. I hope you’re right.
Last year they got experience. This year with a new scheme they should all improve. No more face guarding is what I'm looking forward to most.
Tyreke Smith had surgery in June. Does anyone know his status since he wasn’t mentioned? If he and Cooper are both out, we’ll being starting with third string and that’s going to allow opponents to have the confidence to focus on stopping Chase Young.
But both of them being injured is rightfully troubling!
I would rather be on hand with 10 men then elsewhere with 10,000 - Timur Lenk
Hopefully Smith can get healthy, we are very thin is both are out.
if Smith is healthy he is the next man up and is probably as good as Cooper, likely better with a bit more time.
I agree we need to get him and Tyreke back, but people forget we won a title with Steve Miller playing opposite of Boss. LJ will have depth ready to go.
That's a sexy looking first team offensive line.
Really need smith to get back as soon as possible. D end opposite youngis looking like a real question mark.
Think it is safe to say that both jBB and Harrison are going to play a lot
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
I think Harrison is going to surprise people. I think he is more prepared than people think.
I was thinking the same thing about JBB. If he is up to 245 like people are saying he can be a beast.
Good size on passing downs, but 245 is light against some power teams. I'm sure JBB will have a good season though
I wouldnt be surprised. I mean he was the #1 player in the country.
Looks like a game setting, complete with fans. Some coach's definition of a cheater.
What's up with Coop? Surgery? Day made it quite clear discussion on injuries will not be fielded.
Rumor is a high ankle sprain. Probably will be back sometime during the season but I wouldn't expect him to come back in the first month.
You don't have surgery for high ankle sprain...
Yes, you do. Didn't used to, but you do today. They strap the two bones in the leg together to stabilize it and allow the connective tissue to heal.
You do in 2019
First mention of Alex Williams at defensive end I think I've heard. I thought he had the chance to be a diamond in the rough in last year's class. Physically that guy's got a ton of potential.
I’m more interested in to see how different Tuf looks from last year. IMO Baron has the potential to be a stud.. I enjoy seeing him in the game a lot, been a big fan since he was in high school. I’m not worried about the offense. Complete confidence.
The Future is Bright at Ohio State
Curious they just said he wasnt playing, wonder what that means.
Thank you for the updates. Good information. 9 days and counting down quickly.
Will we get any feedback on the performance of the players in practice?
Send the Earth Reverberating
I would be interested in a list out of all the 2nd string. Particularly QB.
Chugunov is 2nd string. Hoak has yet to even lose his stripe and is battling with Vanatsky.
Pick up your feet, turn your corners square! And DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE!!!
Did you just ask the student reps to report on the lineup? How did they look out there?
Congrats to the tens in attendance for that.
A man got to have a code...
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
Late in - appreciate the coverage, Jake and David.
Got M...igan gossip? Bang it here.
When we thought we were going to get info on a practice I thought it would have been actually info on plays and how they look on the field. Not just a depth chart. This is pretty disappointing. I miss the times when we got actual plays discussed and even some videos. I miss the camp videos and hype videos we used to have only just a few years ago. Why the change?
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
If I had to guess. There will be more in depth articles in the next few days. They still have 9 days to fill with off season content. If I was writing articles, I wouldn't put it all up in one day and then have nothing. Just my opinion.
I wasn't expecting everything in one article. I'm more talking about total coverage all fall. When Urban first came on board in 2012, every fall camp we had highlight videos and posts about players looking good on the field. Who to watch out for because they were making plays during practice. Dontre Wilson became a big story because every practice he was electric. We knew about Zeke being a gem before any games because we saw what he could do in practices.
It just has changed alot last few years.
Wondering if Sammy Silverman leaving has anything to do with the lack of hype videos? Or maybe that's just not Ryan Day's style.
"You're the patron saint of the totally effed" - Hot Tub Time Machine
Silverman was awesome! His hype videos made the season practically start early August instead of game one. We would see amazing plays by Michael Thomas in 2014 that made us know he was going to be a stud.
I so miss Sammy!
I will be so pumped up if Bowen gets the start at RT.
Buckeye Til I Die
Be prepared to be pumped then.
So, the offensive players were on offense, and the defensive players were on defense. That’s fine, keep your secrets ;-)
Next Saturday feels like it’s 6 months from now. Can’t wait, Go Bucks
I have to return some videotapes
If we get some linebacker production this defense could be quite good.
Any "Slobs" references with the OL or has that boat sailed?
OH-IO living in SEC! SEC! Ville
Dig the tee on one of the kids in the picture..the one with the state of Ohio and a large Buckeye leaf.
Is that a 'Block O' thing or is that available to us general public types?
And on fourth and one... would you believe?
They made them sit in the South stands? For a free practice?
Easier for security and clean up I suppose, but yeah, kinda odd.
