Awesome - congratulations, gentlemen.
Got M...igan gossip? Bang it here.
7 captains is an outrage! In my day, we didn't have ANY captains! We just had one leader, and he was referred to as 'Lieutenant'. And that was all the leadership we needed!!
“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt
OMG! A lieutenant was all you needed? 21years in the Marine Corps and I can tell you that I never saw a lieutenant who could find north on a compass.
"Cause I couldn't go for three!"
Our Lt was named Dan and he was excellent...
Tuf back at starting now
Cj is not a starter.
The ugly truth is often downvoted
CJ plays a significant amount of time on ST so my guess is he's the ST captain. I think it's inevitable at this point that Borland will be starting again in the middle. We just have to hope he's actually 100% this year (I never thought he was last season) and that Al Washington has the LBs playing much better overall as a unit.
I think a lot of posters here are confusing MVP type players with leadership type players. You don't need to be a starter or a star type player to be a captain. Just the total respect of your teammates!
If you have two people that agree on everything, that only means one of them is not thinking at all.
Agree. JT was captain at the start of 2015, but Cardale got the nod to start at Va Tech and was not a captain.
Jones was a cancer.
What we can't do in the air we'll do on the ground.
How do you figure that?
Please keep the Cardale slander off of this forum.
The band is the best part.
I don't think we would have won the NC game if Cardale wasn't running the show. Just my 2 cents. He brought something to the table that JT couldn't. I know Bama wasn't ready for him.
Color, honestly, are you trolling?
Yeah, but it's good to see walk-ons get their dues.
Sooner or later it all gets real.
I am wondering how much this captaincy is based in not wanting to demote Borland after being captain last year (truly a dick move), or if he is actually out-shining the other LBs on the practice field and locking down his starting spot. May be selfishly, I would like to see young Teradja get his shot in the middle.
Captain doesn't always mean best player or starter. I do think that Borland will be named A starter at MLB but not THE starter. Just like in the past few years, I think we will see a lot of "co-starters", which I personally hated.
He might start might not. Either way it’s a new Day. Pardon the pun. But with all new league leading defensive coaches year, I give all lbs a clean slate. And yes I’m repeating myself.
Just don’t let Tuf jog out for the coin toss and tire himself out before the game starts.
This was a selection by teammates , coach had nothing to do with it...
Saunders is an interesting and unexpected name there. Dude must be putting in WORK. Good for him
Leave one wolf alive....and the sheep are never safe
From walk on to captain! Well done, CJ!
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
Hartline has mentioned that he he so prepared that he has all the answers in the WR room.
Right. Hartline made it a point a few weeks ago that he’s the hardest working guy in the room
On another note, would have liked to see 67 get the Captains nod.

On another note, would have liked to see 67 get the Captains nod.
Good for Saunders. Hope he gets some playing time, too.
I can't wait to watch him waive at punts while the ball rolls further downfield.../s

Did he do that? Cause it drives me nuts when they do that, but I don’t remember it with him.
All. The. Time.
Must have been all the 80 yard runs our defense was giving up that was occupying my brain capacity.
Huh? Is that really you, 3M?
And no, the DVs are not from me.

Oh, I knew it would be an unpopular joke, but it really drives me nuts. The underwhelming kick return game, in general, has been very frustrating in recent years.
Hmmmm Saunders instead of Mack or Victor, interesting...Well done men, go out and lead by example!
Pain heals, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever
IIRC both Mack and Victor have had maturity issues in the past. That could be why they were not named as captains. They're both still very likely to see more snaps on offense than Saunders is.
Victor maybe, but Austin was the first freshman to lose his black stripe and he is President of his organization Redefining Athletic Standards.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
I'm not saying they have maturity issues now. It's very possible they did when they first arrived at OSU though and even if they've gotten past them they still might not have the right personality types for captains. Victor in particular, I never expected him to be named a captain this season (and I know prior to last season he was completely unwilling to block which is definitely a sign of immaturity and entitlement). There's too many better options on the team for captaincy. I am however shocked that Landers wasn't named a captain.
The players have a big role in Captaincy, they vote on them.
Everything isn’t a popularity contest, based on name recognition, or stars beside the name. I’d say the players know even better than the Coaches who is truly a leader, both on AND off the fields.
Did Saunders win as a special teams player, as well as a receiver?
And he sure looks puny compared to the others in the line-up. Undersized overachiever?
Solid Buckeyes one and all! Well done, gentlemen!
Great choices. Was hoping that BB Landers would be named, but it’s hard to argue with the group selected.
Fields of Dreams
Great choices. Good to see guys like Young and Dobbins take on bigger leadership roles, too.

Wouldn't it be easier to list who isn't a Captain?
Born a Badger, Raised a Buckeye
Not too far off, it’s 32% of a starting lineup!
I would be surprised if CJ Saunders is starting.
That was not my point, nor do I think that. 7 captains regardless of who they are, is 1/3 the amount of players in a starting lineup. Seems like a lot to me.
Can you have too many chiefs and not enough Indians?
Maybe. Maybe Not.
Congrats to All of them.
Now let's roll.
Very happy for all of them, but mostly for Saunders.
Nothing cleanses the soul like a no call pass interference.
Ya 7 is a bit high in my book as well.
Being an Ohio State captain is an honor. Some of these guys will be NFL guys and some realistically won’t. But to look back on your football days and to know you were a captain; if seven guys have earned that then I’m thrilled that seven guys get to experience it.
Seems like it's somewhat unusual for a RB to be named a captain for some reason. I think that speaks volumes about how much the staff is counting on Dobbins.
All great choices. A lot goes into being named a captain and it goes well beyond stats. Great work men and congrats!!

They are great choices, unless who someone wanted picked isn’t, and then it’s too many.
Congratulations to them, but I was really hoping we’d go back to like 3 captains. I just read the article and I can’t even remember them all now.
Its easy; CJ, KJ, JK, Tuf, Chase, Coop & Jordy. 4 of them have first names that have 3 or less letters. See, EZ.
Glad to see Saunders chosen. He's got outstanding hands and an ability to separate from the defender. He's a player who would have had an entirely different career under Tressel than he had under Meyer. I hope this season he's more involved... maybe he isn't a burner with a 40" vertical, but he's a helluva pure football player.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
Can't go wrong with those options, thought Malik Harrison would be one of the guys, but still a lot of good names.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I want a couple more captains that look like Chase Young. What a beast.
The impact of these men this season will be paramount. 12 days!
Tough looking seven! These guys might be able to win a couple of 7 versus 11 scrimmages.
I know the camera angle factors in, but damn ... Chase Young looks like a man among boys in that picture.

Was here to type just that. Scary...
"To Buckeye Nation: You have my word that I'm going to give everything I have to continue the tradition of excellence and winning that this program has enjoyed during its storied history."
Crazy thing is...put CJ next to an average dude and he’ll look like an ripped, rabid animal. That same perception would make Chase a goddamned T-Rex.
Be a good person but don’t waste your time trying to prove it. #MeNeither #HarbaughOrDeath
And CJ out here giving hope to all the average looking dudes
One of these things is not like the others
I was just going to comment the same thing. Uh, can you say 1st pick!!! HolyMoly, he is truly a Predator!
Thomas "Zeke" White
Great move for a first-year coach to distribute the leadership a bit with players. Really experienced coaches could probably go with two. Makes total sense to me.
Captain Cooper is gonna hurt someone this year.
6 - 0 and a chance to go 7 - 0...
Chase Young looks like a beast from head to toe.
I LOL'd at the size comparison between Young and everyone else.
Very surprised Malik Harrison is not a captain. Thought he would be THE leader of the defense this year. Also, holy hell Chase Young is a monster. I know Coop is a big dude but he looks noticeably smaller in this picture.
Must have taken that pic at the end of a tough practice. They look like they were just told "no video games for a week." Seriously though, congrats to all. All great choices, from what those of us on the outside know.

If I learned anything from that photo it's that I never want Chase Young to be mad at me.
I’m surprised to not see Arnette on this list.
How many “captains” are permitted to assist in the coin flip.
4? Then that is really all you need.
Everybody gets a trophy. And with common core 7 is the new 4. All above is italicized of course
Enough enough enough. Go Buckeyes and Fight till the End!
Fine looking group. Chase is just a monster. Glad he's on our side.
Back in my day we had one captain and he had to kill a few people to be named captain
7 is more than I thought would be named but I have absolutely no issue with 7 captains. In fact I would have more issue if they had named only 1 or 2 because that seems to show lack of leadership on the team.
The predator filled out nicely. Looks like he is primed to feast on a steady diet of fresh QB.
Noon games suck
Being a captain is overrated. I could be wrong and please let me know. Wasn’t JT a captain then got a DUI, and yet still remained a captain.
Chase is a monster.....damn!!! So glad he's a Buckeye monster!
It's "THEir" team - let "THEm" choose whom "THEy" want for Captains. Every leader has a different style, so maybe this is a reflection of different leadership styles, but certainly its a reflection of "THE" respect "THEy" have for "THEse" magnificent seven.
