Calling it now: Chug from the clouds.

At last, Kerry had cracked open his first Red Bull with an impatient delight. And the rest, as they say, was history.

The backup QB is going to be needed this year. With Fields running more there is an opportunity to get banged up a little. I am not shocked to see Hoak trailing a bit in the race for QB2 because he wasn't on campus until late Spring/early Summer. Learning the playbook will take some time.

Honestly this "competition" is embarrassing.

Please end the cringe and just admit Fields is our QB.

It's really not that big of a deal

Have you trademarked either of those?  Or just the "the?"

Nothing cleanses the soul like a no call pass interference.

Just in case the XFL comes back he'll have to pay me:)

Very optimistic about Fields

The whole worlds a circus, don't you be the clown.

Of course, he's a leader. The kid was born w/a sweet nickname. I wonder the last time anyone near his age called him anything but Chugs. Ok, Chugman or Chuggage maybe.

Chug started some games for WVU when Grier broke his finger in 2017. Granted he didn’t look good, but he at least has starting experience.

He started the last two, and played a lot against Texas the game before when Grier got hurt.  I think the worst thing is his rating kept going down Texas 127, OK 107, Utah 68.  But he does have more practice experience and would not be the first guy to improve a lot.  Link to Chug statistics.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/3870490/chris-chugunov

This was obviously just a motivational tactic used to light a fire under Justin's ass. He needed to learn and improve as much as humanly possible and the staff figured that a manufactured QB controversy couldn't hurt.

They didn't bring Chug in from West Virginia to sit on the bench!!

Um yeah. He barely played on average WVU teams. Really wish Baldwin wouldve stayed cuz Chug wouldve been way better as the 3rd stringer

They have benches in West Virginia—that are not on fire?

Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !

Sofas, not benches. Here in Maryland and in West Virginia sofas are burned after big wins.  Last year, when I was at MD-OSU and the game came down to the wire, I was worried since I thought OSU would win in a route I did not have my asbestos underwear on.  It was very frightening.

Took this long to separate himself from the pack?

I personally wasn't too disappointed when Tathan Martell transferred - however I did want to see him try to compete for the starting job, then move on as a graduate transfer if he didn't win it -

That said I WAS disappointed when Matthew Baldwin transferred because I thought he might have been able to win the QB1 job, and if not, he still might've ended up playing - what concerns me is the fact that Justin Fields runs the football and if he doesn't give himself up and slide, could very well get injured. Heck, he could get hurt taking a shot in the backfield (knock on wood) - we all know how things went down in 2014, and thankfully we had two capable backups to Braxton Miller, neither of whom transferred... Apparently Cardale Jones came really really close to transferring, thank God he stayed because he transformed the offense at just the right time.

I still think about how utterly improbable that run was! Especially after the loss to Virginia Tech. I was living in Washington state at the time, and had to deal with a bunch of Oregon fans (from Vancouver, WA which is right at the border of OR) talking smack, especially after they beat Michigan State that same day. All I could do was say that our quarterback was hurt and shrug, pointing out the Ducks record versus the Buckeyes.

Still, watching them start blowing teams out after that loss, I tried to temper my enthusiasm, saying it was weak competition, considering how awful the B1G was in out of conference play. I became a believer after they waltzed into East Lansing and Blitzkrieged the Spartans.

Here's to hoping our guys stay healthy and have a great year!
