I mean, for me it's 11-1 if the question is asked from our side if it means that OSU is still in the playoff (either because they still go to the B1G Championship game or because they go straight to the playoff at 11-1). If it knocks them out of the playoff completely, then it's tough. Probably go 8-4 with a win.
If we go 11-1 In that scenario, we would most likely go to the B1G Championship game instead.
And lets be honest, the odds of us going 11-1 is much higher than TSUN going 11-1.
I mean, that's basically what last year was for them (except they also lost to ND in week 1). Losing to us effectively ruined their season and the lull carried over into their bowl game where they proceeded to lay yet another egg (that seems to be a trend with Harbaugh's teams in recent years considering his bowl record is unimpressive as well). That being said an 8-4 season would absolutely put Harbaugh on the hot seat regardless of whether it included a win against OSU or not. A win against OSU would probably buy him at least another year in AA but going 8-4 every year is NOT what they want to see up there. That's basically what we had to deal with during the Earle Bruce years (which eventually led to his ousting) and Earle, unlike Harbaugh, actually had a solid record in the Rivalry (including an upset against Bo in his final season in a Game that OSU had no business winning from a talent standpoint).
That answer is very likely highly correlated to respondent age. Most TWTR respondents have never been alive when they beat us with any regularity. So 11-1 seems like a more realistic option to them.
Restless is an understatement. I was lurking a few days ago on mgoblog and one poster was talking about putting a hex or some voodoo type mess on the Ohio Stadium. He was planning a visit to Columbus. These people are obsessed and psycho at the same time.
I saw that one. The responses were entertaining though. My favorite was: "cram a print out of John Cooper into a crack of the stadium"
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
Lol, it would be pretty funny to see some random m fan speaking in tongues and dropping potions in buckeye grove or something. But really someone should tell him that isnt real.
If 11-1 got me into the playoff or B1G champ game, I take that 100/100 times. The end goal is to win a championship. If that meant losing to OSU, I would still take it.
"To Buckeye Nation: You have my word that I'm going to give everything I have to continue the tradition of excellence and winning that this program has enjoyed during its storied history."
Consigned. A better question would be 11-1 (loss to rival) and shot at title or 12-0 but kept out of playoffs.
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special.
It’s like choosing between Tiffany and Debbie Gibson.
Damn, that’s a tough question!
Come on man...Tiffany all day every day
I'd have to try them both before i made that decision... ;)
Give me the win over UM. Getting that all time win total over them last a lifetime.
Exactly, 11-1 seasons will come and go, but an 8-0 streak vs TUN and making Harbro 0-5 against OSU...priceless
I'd take 8-4 all day long. Hell, I'd take 1-11 as long as we beat Michigan
That is exactly what my brother says every year. If we go 1-11 and beat the rival, he considers that a successful season. I think he's joking.
I'm not trying to win a popularity contest. I'm trying to win football games-- Woody Hayes
Given the past 20 years, it would be a hard pill to swallow to get to that point now... However, I very clearly remember that feeling growing up b/c they always ruined our season.
Trick question Michigan can not beat Ohio state.
They are getting funny, most have accepted they just perennially lose to OSU. But its absurd they think that beating us is all it is going to take for them to be a playoff team and win a championship. They would still be obliterated by bama or clemson and probably OU and GA too.
Update: Lose to OSU is now up in the voting, 62-39.
Fields of Dreams
I would take 1-11 and that one W over ttun than go 11-1 and that one L be to ttun. Seriously, I'm not joking especially after dick face's comments about Urban. Fuck scUM.
Really if we went 1-11 and the lone win was against them, they would absolutely lose their minds. It would be almost worth it. Just to see them completely lose it.
They would be bitterly disappointed!
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
You're right MB - at that point they would have totally drained their excuse pool
They would just chalk it up as an optical illusion.
If Michigan is 7-4 going into the Ohio State game, there's no way in hell they are winning. Michigan won't go 11-1 either lol. I can easily see 10-3 with losses to ND, OSU, and either Sparty or PSU. Possibly even Army, that would be just like Michigan to lose that game.
That pole reveals everything you need to know about Mythigan's broken psyche. They feel they have to choose, we go 11-1 and beat them.
You never lose to those pricks. Ever. Ever.
If my aspirations as a TTUN fan were to make the CFP one day, I would take 8-4 and a win vs tOSU. At this point TTUN is simply a laughingstock, beating up on cellar-dwellers and then getting spanked by Daddy to end every single year.
I don't really see the point in going 11-1 w/ another loss to tOSU. Haven't they kinda done that before, and gotten nothing out of it? In this scenario there is a decent chance tOSU goes 10-2 or 11-1, in the process winning the division tie-breaker, and your just sleepwalking through another NY6-Bowl.
More proof of delusional fans- here's one of the comments-
8-4 means we are right back where we started on the 3rd straight coach...11-1 means we are 99% of the way back to being a national power no matter who the 1 L is too
So you beat OSU one time and your 99% back to a National Power? LOL.....my god.
Enjoying daily the back to back ttun beatdowns.
They just don't get it.
I would take 11-1 with us blowing them out again over 12-0 and them picking on a missed call made in the first quarter.
This ain't a choice chief
I would take 8 - 4 with a win over OSU.
Two big issues I see with TTUN:
1. If they would take 11-1 with that 1 loss to OSU, they don't value The Game the way we do. That seems to already be evident with our domination of them over the past roughly two decades.
2. I keep hearing pundits & experts picking TTUN to win the B1G and when asked "why?" the first answer is that OSU is breaking in a new QB and has a first year head coach. They don't mention the new OC as their primary reason or returning depth and strong recent recruiting classes, etc. Instead, they mention that there is a chance for OSU to be a bit vulnerable this year. That spells doom for TTUN. We're not going anywhere...we might be better than we have been in the past (I think we will be).
I can't even imagine how horrible it's going to feel when we eventually drop one to those dumb fux.
