Born a Badger, Raised a Buckeye
Did you me We e"M"brace the suck? Only way they get a "W" is to turn their "M" upside down.
Just still so arrogant. They are better than every team they play on paper? Give me a break.
And it still seems they struggle prioritizing the rivalry. I really do not understand the infatuation with Michigan being so good this season.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
“When you look around the room at the talent that we have, at the guys we have, at the coaches that we have, you’d be hard-pressed to find a team that could beat us on paper,” said Michigan left guard Ben Bredeson. “So it’s going to take us screwing up ourselves, I think, to get beat.”
Good thing we beat them on paper and on the field.
"If Chase Young is truly bigger than I think he is and taller than I think he is, he would probably have to be the literal Predator because I've seen him with my own two eyes and I personally think he's pretty damn Sasquatchian." - Kevin Harrish
Yea, when I read that quote I was thinking Harbaugh must be drinking his own Koolaid.
Teams that can beat Michigan on paper?
Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, Michigan State, Penn State, Oklahoma, Florida (lol), LSU, Georgia, Washington, ......who am I forgetting?
Maybe ol' Harry can't count that high, so much for that Michigan degree.
If I must choose between peace and righteousness, I choose righteousness! -Theodore Roosevelt.
Texas, Notre Dame...
GO BUCKS!!! *ichigan sucks!!!
No kidding, on paper? It's easy, look at the teams that finished ahead of them in the rankings. Not all are better than them, but the major programs are.
Yes, no doubt about the arrogance. From the coach and the players and, of course, the fans. This was an interesting article for reading between the lines. Hey Jimmie and team up north, it's a step-by-step process. Most organizations live by these types of step-by-step mantras. College football power organizations live by them as well. It's rather simple, most years the path to the B1G championship game runs through Columbus/Ann Arbor. Have to win that game first. Jimmie, that's step one. Winning step one gets your team to Indianapolis, which in most years is necessary to get to step 3, the CFP. So, win step 2, get to step 3, win step 3, and get to step 4. Only then Jimmie do you have a chance at a national championship.
Bredesen betrays a defeatist attitude, and dude, it's not like every practice, every work out by Ohio State is focused solely on Michigan. There will be a time period, a work out, etc. devoted to Michigan. That's all. You don't have to take a rivalry serious by practicing for that team all the time. Just everyday. And close your mouths too. That might help.
We are going to win again. This article and the interviews convince me of it. Once something goes wrong, which it always does in a football game, the doubts are going to start to creep in. "Here we go again."
“I intend to make Georgia howl.” General William Tecumseh Sherman
Action, that is the mentality of 99% of all sum fans. They are so arrogant, even the non-educated ones (people that haven't attended college but are big scum fans). Unfortunately I live up here and I see it all the time. I just love how - whenever a scum fan sees me in the hallways and someone starts talking football - they won't make eye contact and they slowly walk away.... it's pretty darn cool.
They know they are our little bitch and they haven't done anything about it in the past 14 years!
What's round on the ends and high in the middle? Tell me if you know!
I saw that and could only imagine the alternative universe that has been created at that school and with that team. To make such a statement is just flat out stupid. You have yet to crack the top 3 in recruiting this century just in one year let alone multiple. You are even lower when using the quality measure of recruiting classes. That vaunted coaching staff does not have a conference championship let alone an appearance in the CFP. You are banking your hopes on offense this year to a walkon running back or a low ranked true freshman and an OC who rode the coat tails of the head coach and OC at Bama to get this gig. Clearly when you leave tsun you are fortunate that nothing came out of your pocket for the "education" you got.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Has he looked at the paper? There's lots of teams that have been out-recruiting them on paper.
And I'm still chasing those winning lottery numbers. I wonder who will win first between me and Harbaugh before TTUN gets rid of him?
I like my odds.
I can’t wait till we kick the shit out of them again this year!
Oh and i’m confused on the actual definition of what a mirage is.
Michigan is more hesitant to place that level of emphasis on one game.
I knew Warriner went to TTUN, but didn't know Cooper did as well.
Exactly. The lack of emphasis at least publicly by JH is eerily similar. You’d think he’d know better. The whole one game at a time thing is fine, and maybe why Urbans teams got tripped up unexpectedly sometimes, but you’ve got to win that last one to have a shot at the CFP.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
You would think a "Michigan man" would take the rivalry more seriously.
Seems like the 3 football players answer questions with better maturity than Harbaugh. Also I don't understand why Michigan is favored to win the BIG10 this year. OSU gets down played since we have new coaching that hasn't proven itself. Michigan gets a new Offensive coordinator in Gattis (and unproven 1st gig) but gets accolades how great the offense will be by introducing the spread. Hell, Saban didn't even want Gattis to call the plays at Bama. Time will tell on the field.
Idk Ben Bredeson's comments kind of remind me of Chase Winovich's "mirage" comments from last year. OSU has more than enough talent and then some to stack up with scUM.
Those who stay will chase on then.
We embrace the negative, we embrace the suck.
Leave one wolf alive....and the sheep are never safe
Ohhhhh, Michigan. LOL. You just keep doing you. You just never learn, do you?
I think the B1G Media Days showed just how little respect Harbaugh has for the rivalry. Compare that to Urban and Tressel who had the program eat, drink, and live it 24/7. I LOL at everyone thinking this Buckeye team is going to be down, including the Insane Clown Posse known as Jim Harbaugh.

I think they all feel like Michigan has been the better team and still lost to OSU. I have yet to see a player or coach give OSU any credit.
It's wild they think they that they just let their guard down against us and that's why they lost. Not because they were too slow, out schemed and out-talented. Nope, they were just emotionally drained and let their guard down.
"I don't think you necessarily have to get a trophy to be a winner." - Nick Saban 1/2/15.
That's just it...they lost to Notre Dame. With Brandon Wimbush starting. Then ran off 10 wins against so-so opponents. They got Penn State with a broken and bruised McSorley. A down Wisconsin team at home. An offensively inept Sparty. The wins aren't impressive.
They simply patted themselves on the back for their #1 D. And then watched in horror as Dwayne Haskins and his stable of thoroughbreds ran roughshod all over it. They had no answer for our speed. No answer for Haskins arm. Funny part is, their offense sputtered against the worst defense statistically in the history of Ohio State football. If we didn't score so many points so quickly, they wouldn't have scored 39. Guaranteed. And they really don't have any more talent on offense than they did last year. And there's no way our D will be that bad again this year. They got straight Molly whopped by a better team.
That's what is amazing to me, they watched the game unfold and still tried to turn around and say "Well we still scored 39 points". If you go back and really watch that game again, take away the inept officiating (in their favor I might add), our muffed kickoff return, and have the offense keep their foot on the gas pedal... that game easily ends 70-13.
As Mike Valenti put it: "That was a beat down of Biblical proportions".
I work in Detroit and the attitude is still the same. They treat the last twenty years like it is a minor inconvenience, an unfortunate outlier in this rivalry rather than the new norm. That attitude permeates through this entire state and it's honestly hilarious to watch them continuously refer back to the "tHe wINniNgEsT pROgrAm oF aLl tIMe" and their lead in the overall series... with the rationalization that you would have to be 112 years old to see ScUM have a winning record against the Buckeyes be damned.
It was a quiet Monday after the game last year, I look forward to that for 2019.
Actually on paper there’s a lot of teams better than Skunk Weasel.... delusions of grandeur were never more apparent for these guys.

Reading the comments from the U of M players and coaches is like deja vu
I've actually disliked the fact that certain things have recently gotten "out" about Urban and OSU's preparation for The Game - as in maybe Harbaugh will suddenly realize the "Secret" - which is to plan for/think about/prepare for The Game a little bit every day, among other things.
But it's clear they have not been paying attention at all. They still just treat it as any other big game. And they think by striving for championships that they'll somehow be plenty prepared for The Game.
This season couldn't be setting itself up any better.
Get used to it TTUN losers.
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
“So it’s going to take us screwing up ourselves, I think, to get beat.”
Michigan football- undefeated since 1750 (unless they beat themselves*).
*Or encounter cheating refs, other schools' bagmen, schools without Gen Studies, etc.
A man got to have a code...
Well, I'll just say it, they won't win this year either. We are in their brains, they somehow think that focusing on one game at a time can't be done if you care about beating their rival. I just can't wait to hear the excuses this year. And if this is their best team since harbaugh has arrived, it's sad because they are still less talented than we are.
I bleed scarlet...literally
When is the year when Michigan doesn't have "the best opportunity yet for Harbaugh’s Wolverines to break through and beat Ohio State and win the Big Ten?"
This has been playing on repeat for quite a while.
"I am El Guapo...the handsome one."
I know its the off-season, but damn we've had a lot of TTUN-related articles recently.
Apparently, we embrace their suck, too!
The 3-9 thing is stupid. If you go 9-3 you are not going anywhere either. Or 10-2. Heck you are not going anywhere if you are 10-1 but lost to the only ranked team on your schedule and did not make the title game.
I understand it is a new year and you have to hype your own guys but the trash talking and arrogance is just bad. The kids on the team should go into the season that way, but they have something to prove. They proved they can beat overmatched teams. They cannot be decent teams, or rarely do anyway.
“That’s OK, we bring it up a lot,” Harbaugh said. “We embrace it.” He later said "We're kind of used to losing the last game on our schedule."
Nutty let me correct that. “... the last 2 games on our schedule”.
"There are 3 things that can happen and 2 of them are bad" - the Curse of Woody Hayes
I mean, c'mon. If there EVER was a year for them to get their heads out of their asses and compete against the Buckeyes, you'd have to think it's this year. New coach... New positional coaches... New QB, new OL for the most part, scheme changes all over. You've got to think if it were ever going to happen, this would be the year.
Spoiler alert: No way in hell, Harbaugh. Ryan Day starts his streak against you this year.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Would like to hear the O-H-I-O cheer go around the big hole again this year.
You mean The Big OutHouse?
“When you look around the room at the talent that we have, at the guys we have, at the coaches that we have, you’d be hard-pressed to find a team that could beat us on paper,” said Michigan left guard Ben Bredeson.

Xichigan is so full of themselves! I remember their fans rejoicing when Urban Meyer stepped down, like they did something! I hope I never am happy that one of Ohio State's opponents isn't as good, I would rather see the Buckeyes square off against the best and WIN. It feels so much better beating a Nick Saban-led Alabama squad in the CFP, or the Miami Hurricanes for the BCS title, ending their 20+ game win streak than it does to watch them beat a team sans their best player(s) or legendary coach. In fact it's awesome to watch them beat the best of the best in college football.
It seems like every year Xichigan players think they're the best team in college football. I get they're returning their starting quarterback but they weren't even a top 5 team last year, they lost a ton of their top defensive players to graduation and highly touted running back (to injury) yet they really think they are going to be better??? They really think they match up favorably to every team on paper??? Whatever they're smoking I want some!
Seattle Buckeye, Green Tony
Their offensive coordinator has never called plays. Oh wait in the spring game against a whole new defense with a new dline coach who has coached 1 season of power 5 football. They lost 2 defenders who were top 12 picks, the first time they have ever had that and the guys who coached them are with The OSU. Should i continue?
You would think going 2-16 vs. OSU (including 0-9 in Columbus) in the past 18 years would give them a sense of urgency, but nope.
They just don't get it. Losing to your rival in game 12 ruins your season, even if you're 11-0 going in. You can lose 1 game early on to a ranked team, but the rivalry is the gatekeeper. If you lose 2 or more, you're definitely out of the playoff, and you will only make the B1G title game if the rest of your division craps the bed.
So, the only truly "successful" seasons are 12-0 or 11-1 (early loss). With any other record the rivalry game is your championship game.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"

Unless you're bama and lose your last game or the CCG
It really appears that most of them up there feel if they keep saying they will win this year over and over, they will happen. MIRAGE.
Wake me up when Jimmy wins as many games in one season as the fat guy “Hoke”. Here’s a hint, it won’t happen this year either.
@ Wisconsin | @ Penn St | Notre Dame (later in the year than usual) | MSU | @ Indiana
I see at least 1 to 2 potential losses there... "On paper"
I pray we blow them out again... How sweet it would be... They wouldn't fire him... He'd resign
As a Michigan fan, I feel compelled to respond, at least briefly. Although I feel resigned to failure in how anything I say will be received. C'est la vie.
Oh and I will leave this here:
To be fair Blu.Fan....I think if Ryan Day or another coach came out with comments about Harbaugh even if they weren't that bad, Michigan websites would be all over it just as much. I don't think this site is any different, Michigan sites are just as quick to jump at something that happens at OSU.
I really enjoyed reading Blu.fan's thoughtful insights from the perspective of the other side of The Rivalry. I thought that he made a lot of reasonable, valid points in his post. Thanks for sharing !
Lol..same old *ichigan... overrated every preseason.. " THIS is going to be our year!!! " and they are yet to win a conference title since....2004. Cant wait to see how revenge tour 2.0 or 3.0 unfolds.
Here's the problem... Even IF *ichigan fails to do what they do best (underachieve on an epic scale), and they play up to their potential on paper, there is STILL a large talent gap between them and Ohio State. And not only is that talent gap apparent at the first string level, it's even more obvious when you get down to the second and third string players.
So yeah, I'm not too worried about them. Maybe they'll be better this year. But that remains to be seen. But I don't think they'll suddenly be so much better that they should actually be FAVORED to beat us, or any top 10 team reliably.
"No we don't give a da*n 'Bout the whole state of *ichigan"
there is STILL a large talent gap between them and Ohio State. And not only is that talent gap apparent at the first string level, it's even more obvious when you get down to the second and third string players.
Have to agree. For Michigan to win would be a colossal failure for OSU. Given the talent and the coaching and the resources, there is no way that OSU should lose. It would be an epic embarassment, and just wouldn't make sense. The only way OSU could lose would be if several starters were on the take and worked to throw the game. It is close to impossible for OSU to lose. It would be like an NFL team playing a Div. II college team.
Not sure I would go that far. It is a rivalry game and you only need to look to the Cooper years to know that the more talented team doesn't always win in a rivalry.
If you keep basing the reason you keep losing to OSU on a talent/coaching/resources gap, then the program is no better than the Purdue's and Maryland's of the world, because that's their reason too. I'm sure no one in Blue land was talking about a talent/coaching/resources gap until the losses to OSU started to pile up, certainly even as recent as 2006.
Harbaugh either gets the program where it needs to be or he doesn't. So far he hasn't.
Like most years, the talent is there to get to Indy. But Harbaugh's teams have lacked mental toughness. Any adversity in games and they fold most of the time. Harbaugh announced Tru Wilson as the starting RB. He's a hard worker i'm sure, but he's a walk-on, not really an ideal situation. Christian Turner has been hurt and so has the incoming freshman Zach Charbonnet. If the injury bug hits the backfield, Michigan could be lining up guys like Khaleke Hudson(starting Viper) to play RB. So basically it's gonna be all on Patterson and the recievers, unless Charbonnet can make some kind of an impact. I don't think Patterson is good enough to carry an offense ala Dwayne Haskins. I thought it was interesting Harbaugh said Patterson and Mccaffrey will play in every game this year. I'm certainly not going to predict Michigan to be any better than they have been. I could easily see another 10-3 or maybe 11-2 season.
Also i'd like to say that any realistic Michigan fan can't be confident in The Game this year just because Urban retired. Ryan Day was the man with the scheme that carved up Don Brown and the defense. Michigan historically has been terrible defending a QB like Fields that can run/scramble.
Someone needs to making an Ohio State t-Shirt for Michigan week that says
Harbaugh, "we embrace the suck"
