Why the hell would anyone want to wear a New Jersey patch?
Lifetime vs. UM: L 8-1, C 7-0, T 4-0
Because Tony and Paulie said they should...capisce?
Could be a Jersey Mike’s patch. Maybe.
Fields of Dreams
I would wear that
I don't give a damn for the whole state of Xichigan.
When you scratch it, it smells like red pepper relish.
Only Rutgers and Princeton should for forced to wear that ugly patch.
College football's anniversary.
Probably a nod to Rutgers, sound the cannons.
I had to run away high, so I wouldn't come home low...
Remember that game a couple of years ago when OSU was pitching a shutout at Rutgers and the whole broadcast was basically taken over by the focus of seeing if Rutgers could score so they could fire the cannons? That was great. LOL
The OSU cheerleaders were falling (acting) when they shot it. Then the Buckeye fans were yelling “shoot the cannon”.
Does it have Snooki or The Situation on it?

New Jersey/Rutgers is considered to be the birthplace of college football. Probably has something to do with that.
These first few comments did not disappoint in any way.

First college football game, Princeton vs. Rutgers was played in 1869. Brent started the game, "You are looking live at New Brunswick, New Jersey!"
150th anniversary as mentioned. For those of you in Ohio, there will be commemerative 6pk glass bottles of Coke with Ohio State on them coming out in late August.
You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton
It’s also the Reds’ 150th anniversary. Coke is coming out with commemorative bottles. Except they’re only half filled...
Sad but sorta true. Long time since 1990

Will Xichigan be giving away similar Coke products to generate stronger ticket sales? Oh wait, this is their year, I forgot about that.
I’ve seen pictures of it and it looks absolutely horrible.
It's probably because 2020 is the 150th anniversary of the university. I saw signs up commemorating this the last time I was on Woody Hayes Drive.

This is the correct answer. I'm shocked it took this far into the comments to pop up.

If this is the correct answer, why is it on the 2019 uniforms?
The university will be celebrating 150 all year in 2020, but the patch this year is to commemorate college football's 150 birthday.
Because you celebrate the year leading up, not the year itself. And we'll likely be playing a game (hopefully 2) in 2020.
Did you celebrate the new millennium in 2000, or did you wait until 2001?
It is also the 150th anniversary of the golden spike driven at the transcontinental railroad in Utah. Though more likely it is for the sesquicentennial for the City of Muskegon. Could be that.
I thought it marked the last time TTUN was relevant. My fault.
All I know is that we're going yet another season without gray pipes *sigh*
If you die before you die, then you won't die when you die.
First college football game was 1869 Princeton vs Rutgers. 150 years of college football. Almost every team is wearing some kind of patch, they may all be the same, but that’s the reason.

Bring back the grey sleeve stripes.
This Rutgers fan is rightfully ticked off that the Sesquicentennial of CFB is not going to be celebrated with a Princeton rematch.
From the article:
Not to mention the awful decisions the Athletic Department has allowed, whether it was on them or not, for what would be done in the 2019 season. The 150th Anniversary is officially on November 6th, which is a Wednesday this year. Do you know where Rutgers is playing on Saturday, November 2nd? Illinois. AWAY. Do you know who/where Rutgers is playing on November 9th? The bye week.
