I Hate Michigan.
what about kelee ringo? last i heard the buckeyes were in his top 5 on june 27. i wouldn't think hafley would just give up on the #1 corner in the country.
Kelee could be either a CB (or S with his listed size)...
that said, Ricks would be a huge flip. Make it happen Jeff!
16-2 is SWEET!
Ringo ship has sailed.
I do enjoy some flips
Barf!! Is it just me or have you gotten a bit edgier in 2019?
The mark of excellence, the test of greatness, is consistency
Is there a scenario where Ohio State takes two of these three corners? Or does the scholarship limit (or desire to fill a spot elsewhere such as DLine) mean that they can basically only fit one?
Not Andrew, but personally, I don't see why not. Assuming they land the 3 we all expect these next few weeks, that would put them at 24 total commits, one of which is a kicker who will grayshirt. That gives them room for at least 2 more commits, and quite possible 3-4 if they so chose. And they will be basically set everywhere else, other than maybe CB and DL. With what seems like very few viable options on the DL, I could easily see them bring in 2 more CB's, depending on the players.
One of the 3 unless Robinson doesn’t commit.
If they can take more than 25 maybe. At best they would probably take one. Just a guess on my part. Seems like the rumors are for another DE or DL commit too.
But if they could get two of these guys for sure and could not get another area than sure, how would you say no, to at least Ricks.
I say no for the D Line only because the experts say it's a weak group and Cowan probably our best bet to pull in is a sure bet red shirt. Plus is it a position of need? I think Cowan isn't even the best dl on his team I believe?
Elias Ricks would be the first of, what I would conceive to be many, Hafley home run flips as a Buckeye coach. Let's get em!
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Yep. And if the college football world isn't already taking notice of what Hafley has been able to do, whey sure would if this happens.
Fields of Dreams
Ricks for a 1000 please!!! Did we just give up on Ringo or what???
The way we've been pumping corners in to the NFL year after year, they have to be a top priority in every recruiting class. After all, we only have the best ones for three seasons.
But the way we're pumping corners in to the NFL should also mean the best ones will want to become Buckeyes. I have faith Coach Hafley will come through -
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
Last years D was not good advertising for OSUs corners. We have recruited super already this year because of confidence in Hafley. Hafley should have his pick after huge improvements in this years D. This is turning into the best recruiting year I can remember. Great to be a Buckeye.
Good point, Beaver. Last year was indeed a bit of a blip on the chart.
And I agree - I believe Coach Hafley will straighten that out -
I continue to wonder at what point do kids in Florida stop going to Miami? They've finished the season in the top 15 once since 2005. Only 2 bowl wins since 2005. They've only hit 10 wins once over the same strech. It's just not a good program and hasn't been in over a decade. These kids being recruited don't have a time in their life that they even remember the U being relevant. I get the appeal of growing up close by but every time I see a 4 or 5 star kid heading there I scratch my head.. The U died when they left the Big East for the ACC in 2004.
Would be happy to flip any of these kids with the usual caveat that we don't lose anyone to make it happen...
Most of the top kids already have stopped going there. They land about 1 out of the top 10 players in Florida each cycle. That's practically criminal given the number of top recruits not only in Florida but in Miami/Dade each year.
7th ranked class for 2020 right now with the bulk of the kids from Florida with a 5 star kid and plenty of 4 star kids as well.. they've got like 6 of the top 40 in the State right now... as I said.. just don't get it...
I get in the big picture they should be loaded given all the talent in the area but I just don't understand the appeal outside of my Dad went there type stuff.
We aren't going to win a bowl or be ranked high or win the ACC and the stadium will be empty and we aren't relevant to the playoffs should be like all 3 stars and an maybe one occassional 4 star kid... they somehow snag a five star kids and a number of 4s.....
They only have the 7th ranked class because they have 22 commits. They will always get low 4* and high 3* players in bulk because there are so many good players in FL who don't want to leave the state. They will also usually hit on a top 100 prospect that doesn't want to leave Miami/Dade. Due to that they will always recruit in the top 20-25 on the low end. Their class is likely to end up 15-20.
With the talent in their state and local area they should be able to recruit in the top 10 year in and out but because their program hasn't been good they have been watching 95% of those players go to Bama, LSU, UGA, Clemson, OSU, etc. 6 out of the top 40 players in the state isn't good. They also only have 2 in the top 20. I mean they aren't a high end program right now but they also aren't complete trash either.
They won’t. It’s HOME
The three "flips" I would like to see, in order, are Ricks, Tre Williams and Mekhall Sherman. Would add Rogers and Corcoran in there, but we are full on the OL.
Best case scenario for us, Buckeyes ball out and make the playoffs and LSU tanks and fires Orgeron...then we are in the driver's seat for Ricks. The downside to this scenario is that I like Orgeron...and that probably means Burrow played horribly.
Bears...Buckeyes... Battlestar Galactica.
Or LSU could just mirror what Ohio State did last year. Joey B and the offense look great, but for no explicable reason the defense craps the bed. Coach O keeps his job but fires the DB coach and we get Ricks.
Burrow won’t play horrible after a year in the system unless he doesn’t have weapons. And I don’t know enough about that yet. I do have LSU friends that are alums there and they are high on Burrow and getting warm on Orgeron at best unless this season tanks.

sometimes I find myself feeling bad for Miami...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Fu*k Miami... and I mean F U * K Miami and every minute fiber of their program. I despise their culture, their football alums, their everything. If *ichigan ceased to exist, a wonderful thought, imo, Miami would be my most detested program, and by a mile.
In my opinion, Hafley was by far the most impressive of Day's hires (I'm not counting Hartline as he was essentially on staff last year). He was so impressive in his introductory presser... much more so that the others. I'm curious, however, about Mattison's recruiting involvement, or lack thereof... how much recruiting is Greg Mattison doing? I follow it, but not to the extent some on here do, and I've not heard Mattison's name mentioned with regard to recruits he's been responsible for bringing into the fold. Any insight from the recruiting gurus in the community specific to Mattison's pledges and/or targets?

Elias Ricks, please. I'm not that greedy. But two of the three wouldn't be all that bad, either.

Hope to see a couple more flips......

We all want Rick's bad. I am kinda interested in the kid committed to Miami. Going to have to look up his highlights
