Had to bring up the Purdue game again. Retaining Larry Johnson was a no brainer. That's an impressive list at PSU.
Still pisses me off this glorified MAC school took us to the woodshed. The drive back to from West Lafayette Columbus that night was brutal.
Keeping L Johnson was a pretty big BOOM for Coach Day.

When people ask what happened to the D last year, this is the answer. Day replaced everyone except the great Larry Johnson. Day also stated his D would be simple, play fast, and be aggressive. That is what went wrong last year. Too bad it cost us shot at the playoffs. Excited about this year's D and always excited about Larry Johnson's D line.
The day Urban Meyer stepped down as HC was a rough day, the day Larry Johnson leaves/retires I will be in shambles.
"If Chase Young is truly bigger than I think he is and taller than I think he is, he would probably have to be the literal Predator because I've seen him with my own two eyes and I personally think he's pretty damn Sasquatchian." - Kevin Harrish
Anxiously waiting to see how Harrison turns out with LJ.
Enjoying daily the back to back ttun beatdowns.
+1 Same here! He has an insane skillset for a man his size and his age. With the best dline coach in the country, the sky is the limit with his potential
LJSR also deserves credit for keeping Ohio State as a major player in recruiting the DMV.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020
It will hard to be (well deserved) happy for LJ when he decides to retire one day. For the life of me I don't get PSU letting LJ slipped through their fingers.
I remember it being more of a bad taste in LJs mouth when he was passed over for HC (again). Allowed Urban to flip him.
It wasn't so much being passed over but not even being interviewed (considered).
I've heard that before and never really understood that, he seems perfectly happy here and he was never considered as a successor to UM. It's not like I know the man but he seems really happy being a Dline coach.......I really think there was more to it
^ best post ever ^
What is it that Billie Eillish says in that stupid song?
The coach is an established champion here and before, and in many ways, not just on the field. The guy's HOF. If I were just starting out as a HC for an elite program, I'd feel honored for him to want to stay. As a Buckeye alum and fan, that is in fact the way I feel.

So isn't Larry Johnson supposed to retire this year?... YOU WISH!!! Coach J is doing what he loves... pouring his time and wisdom into young men of character, discipline and talent. It's tough to walk away when you're top of your profession and 5* athletes keep lining up to sit at your feet. Coach Day's best coaching decision so far.
Every time you post Steely Dan, I’m hearing Deacon Blues, any Major dude, etc lol
I’m hearing Deacon Blues
Per your request......
If I was a HC and I had first pick at any assistant in the country, I'm picking LJ. So I probably would have camped out in Day's front yard if he didn't keep LJ... just sayin
LJ is one of this coaching staffs easiest points of recruitment when it comes to recruiting for the DL. Just look at the roll call of legit NFL talent
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
