"Well, thats just like, your opinion, man." -The Dude
True! Jim shouldn't even be talking about Urban now.
You get what you earn in life
I agree... Kinda looking forward to life after Urban..: The controversies whether warranted or not, sure began to wear on the University and the fanbase... Don’t get me wrong, still a bug Urban fan—but I do understand the sentiment.
WTF? Are you being serious? Yeah, beating the shit out of Michigan and being in the playoff convo every year really sucked. And lest we forget, the biggest "controversy " was a completely bullshit hatchet job about an assistant coach who turned out to be an enormous asshat. Wow. Yeah, that was really wearing thin on the fanbase. The dude would be elected governor of Ohio tomorrow if he ran. And the sentiment you say you understand is coming from the insane and jealous mouth of our biggest rival. But you get it???
Thanks EZ...……(insert Meatloaf song here)
It's only a criticism is you think being controversial is bad. I think it's good, especially on this 2019 earth.
Spot on and always remember this-this record: Ohio State: 83–9 54–4. 7-0 vs UM.
You can blast charger as much as you like, but there is more than a grain of truth to his post eze. And.....while I'd love to have a beer with Urban, I would not be quite so sure about him getting elected governor in a landslide. For every OOS 4 or 5 star talent he brought in, a talented kid (and his coaches and parents) who dreamed of playing for OSU was often told in the past 7 years that he wasn't good enough......if he was told anything at all.
So, yes, Meyer is on the OSU football Mt. Rushmore, no doubt. Yet in spite of your passionate defense of him, you and the many who seem to agree with your post, would be naive to think there aren't a number of people in Ohio glad to see him go. You only have to look at the focus Ryan Day is making inside the fenceposts of Ohio recently to prove my point.
If the talent is in the state and they compare favorably to the talent at a given position from out of state you try to get them. If they don't then you do look elsewhere. Not running a charity program. Ohio State's ability to be a super strong football program goes way beyond the wins/losses, championships won, making fans feel good. Hundreds, if not thousands, of people depend on the success of the program for their living. There would be a lot fewer employed if the program was more like most of the rest of the Big Ten. Its ability to be a major draw has also helped shape the TV revenue deals that sends millions to the general fund of the university and for other schools. Frankly, that is alot of pressure on the coaching staff not felt in but a couple of handfuls of other programs which means they do not have the luxury to be so wedded to taking in state kids who have dreamed of playing for Ohio State if they are not the best the program can get for a given position.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
Preach it, Philly! Do we really think there are large patches of Ohioans who are pissed because Urban recruited a 4-star talent from out of state instead of their kid? Really? I am always amazed by the people who think "most" of the OSU roster should be made up of players from Ohio, and who think that team would be able to compete at the playoff level, even though the state has only been pumping out around 10 4-stars a year for the last decade. This ain't Texas, folks. If Urbs could have had the #1 class in the country every year with 25 Ohio kids... he would have jumped at that in a heartbeat. But that's not the reality. If we asked the state to vote who they wanted to be QB1, Haskins from Maryland or some 5-10 rag arm from Akron who threw for 1,600 yards with 12 TDs as a senior, I think the vote would go 12 million to rag arm's dad.
If you want to root for Ohio kids then become a fan of Cinci, Miami of Ohio, or Ohio University. I want my team to win championships with the best talent around!!!
Wins are more important than Ohio loyalty.
Some kids who dream of playing for Ohio State are not good enough. The fact that Meyer recognized that is what put our program where it is today
What Harbaugh said is factually spot on -- controversy does follow Meyer -- but when you're 0-4 Vs the man you're talking about, and when the last contest was a beating of historical proportions specific to The Game, well, one would think that Harbaugh would have more sense than to call Meyer out, because it only sounds like sour grapes at this point. Jim Harbaugh, by essentially everyone's estimation, is an odd, awkward, socially inept, bumbling human being who says and does the wrong thing repeatedly... and this latest comment only serves to feed that impression.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
And controversy has followed him too. One easy example, just look at all the domestic abuse arrests on the SF squad while he was head coach, believe he lead the league for 3 years.
An "easy example" because you just made it up. Who were "all" of the 49ers players accused or convicted of domestic abuse during Harbaugh's tenure as coach? There was one accusation (against Ray McDonald) and it was highly publicized. Harbaugh's an "easy" target for criticism based on what is; no need to make things up.
Actually no I didn’t make it up, go listen to the Valenti recording in a thread in the forum, he was one of the sources.
Thank you, perfectly stated.
I second that, Kmp10.
“Being average means you are as close to the bottom as you are to the top.” John Wooden
What Harbaugh said is factually spot on
I agree with you mostly, but not on this point. Urban didn't have much if any controversy until he took the Florida job. So, "everywhere he's been" is both false and misleading.
And what is controversy, anyway? Things are only controversial when they happen to a high-profile coach at a high-profile program. ESPN and the media wouldn't give a sh*t about a Zach Smith-like situation or unruly players if it happened at some lesser school -- in that case, the head coach likely would not be mentioned.
Harbaugh should not throw stones from a glass house. Here's a guy who had multiple player issues at SF, a guy who got a recruit's mom hired at UM, a guy who consistently bends the rules of recruiting with things like sleepovers, tree climbing, out-of-state camps and free vacations to Rome.
But who cares anyway at this point? Ryan Day is the head coach now, and I hope Ryan Day shows TTUN no mercy whatsoever.
"We get paid to score touchdowns, not kick field goals"

I wonder of Jim Harbaugh has Aspergers.

He does act as though he has some mild form of autism or Asperger's.
His condition does start with the letter "A", but it ends with "sshole".
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
KMP10, you are exactly right. Here's the bottom line; UM would NEVER say something like this about Harbaugh or any other head coach because he has some class. Period.
"Cause I couldn't go for three!"
When you can't talk about your success you go after anything to deflect your failure...nothing on the field harbaugh can point to...people in glass houses jimmy...he hasn't done shit to justify his salary at michigan...he's a wierd joke full of himself and why the weenies put up with his pathetic production is pure gold for me!!! Wheres the next team trip? MARS? Urban owns you, and u will never erase what he has done to your reputation jimmy...the most over rated coach ive seen in a long time...
Urban had issues at Florida for sure. The only transgression he had at Ohio State was being too loyal to Earle Bruce. He should have never kept Zach Smith as long as he did. He should have fired him several years ago. Meyer's record off the field at Ohio State has been excellent...from Real Life Wednesdays to the culture he instilled while he was here.
Hiring Bill Davis was a transgression bordering on criminal level negligence.
But, not controversial.
Harbaugh's not exactly Einstein when it comes to hiring assistants.
I don't give a damn for the whole state of Xichigan.
Exactly. Pep Hamilton says hi for starters (and he was basically hired because he and Harbaugh were butt buddies at Stanford which sounds quite similar to Meyer hiring Bill Davis except Meyer was at least smart enough not to give Davis coordinator responsibilities and pay him $1 mil per season). Not to mention isn't Harbaugh's son still on staff?
it was an Emperor wears no clothes moment for Urban.
Really, the only place that had off field controversy that I can recall was at Florida and then the Zach Smith stuff. Nothing at Bowling Green, nothing at Utah, nothing when he was an assistant at Notre Dame. So what has "always" followed him?
That’s what has always really pissed me off about the Zach Smith fiasco. Urban deserved a lot of criticism post Florida. But he had done things differently at Ohio State and had very few off the field incidents involving his players. Hell, Stewart Mandel of all people actually commented on that last May when someone took a shot at Urban. And of course all of that goodwill built up after the last six years was destroyed and it become ‘more trouble with an Urban Meyer program’
Urban deserved to leave with recognition for establishing an excellent culture at Ohio State. His blind spot for Earle prevented that.
"You can never pay back, but you can always pay forward."
But if you were a coach, you would probably be smarter than that. As fans, we say all kinds of crap, but as a coach, why give the opponent bulletin board material?
You Got Barbecue Back There!?!?!?!
I can imagine the banner behind Meyer if/when he speaks to the team sometime before the Game.
I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.
Urban may be the half time speaker at michigan
I'm sure the press will ask him that tomorrow. Will be interesting to see what he says.
As a TOSU fan I don't recall any issues other than Florida that one could say that about him. We will never know 100% what went down here. I think he should of fired Smith sooner than he did but that would of never helped anything of what went on in the Smith house hold. Tress tried to help people out and got burned so did Urban. In both cases things were done and the coach couldn't of changed a thing. Zack and Courtney are still having issues and is no longer in TOSU picture. I will say if Urban takes on another job in the near future I might change my mind. If his health is really that bad he should never coach again because any place he would go to will be a pressure cooker on his health. I think this job was a cake walk for him other than the school President not backing him.
I seem to remember plenty of TTUN players in trouble one way or another. Other schools, ttun included, get passes for the same stuff OSU gets hammered for. STFU Hairbrain.
Right change the narrative like you guys always do. That's bound to make you right
I think BL's comment is directed at Harbaugh and TTUN, not Ft Meyer.

Strangeness from Harbaugh.
With those glasses and the (ever-present) ballcap, is he trying to look like Woody?
Our honor defend, so we'll fight to the end !
Yes. He said the glasses reminded him of woody and that’s why he picked them.
The ugly truth is often downvoted
Looks more like Urkel.
I for one am bitterly disappointed he took this route.
I'm not. He's giving tOSU even more incentive to beat his ass inside his own Brick House come November. I doubt Day has his players dwelling on these comments by any means but don't think it won't go unnoticed.
Brick SHIT House.
Think you missed his joke. But yeah, it will be noted in the Woody, for sure.

Well said. What a squirrel...
Exactly. I can name another big ten coach that sheathed in contraversy. Harbaugh. A lot of this trying to cover up his failures. A.lot of this is worded in a favorable way for homself. Did he mention his poor record against top 10 teams? Or his 2-2 record against msu? Or how his team plays poorly at the end of each season? Was his situation getting to michogan anywhere as tough as franklins?
Harbro is a real piece of shit for having said that. In fact, he’s a real piece of shit even if he hadn’t said that. Take solace in knowing how badly Urban was in his head and how this was the result of having lost to him over and over and over and over. Love seeing the hatred inside of Harbro due to Urban having thoroughly owned him.
Typical trash talk without being able to back it up, this time from the head dumbass.
Agreed. You can make the comment but at least have the decency to say it while he's still on the field. Such a coward move. Should have put up 80 against them this last year.
Agreed. No more taking a knee. Bury them.
GREAT comment, CBE. Can we petition the rules committee to allow us to "go for three" in 2019?
That - boys and girls - would be sweet.
Bucks Fan since 1970
Well sure, except, why run up the score on a bunch of kids just because their coach is an idiot?
Maybe he felt like he had to respond to Meyer's recent (final) gold pants speech?
If memory serves, he did call Higdon "that asshole" (note: he is) and the entire team / program "pricks" (note: they are).
You may have something there.
"Without being able to back it up..." What?
There's no doubt he has controversy at his last 2 schools. Don't be a homer...Hairball ain't wrong
Those who stir the shit pot should have to lick the spoon.
Oh fuck! Fuck Michigan! Fuck Harbaugh!
Is he wrong about "everywhere" though? Granted, Florida and OSU are higher profile, but what about Utah? What about Bowling Green? The dude has obviously made some bad decisions, but I think it's easier to argue that he has a had a more positive impact overall at each school he's been to than a negative one. You can call out individual players who were bad takes, but every program has those.
Name a coach that coached for 20 years, 15 at power 5 con, and doesn't have two major negatives that some point to them for? It's called living... what we know... 7-0 & 4-0... but if you can't win, (talk about his mother) distract with something else...
He's wrong because he's implying that Meyer did something bad because of the "controversy" that "follows him".
You can say there was controversy @ Florida, but where was the controversy @ Utah and Bowling Green? And the "controversy" @ tOSU was some manufactured bulls*it that some hack "reporter" decided to make a story of. So no, he CAN'T back it up because its just not true. This is just a low blow by a coach that couldn't get it done on the field so he has to go off the field to get his shots in.
Walk me through Meyer's controversies at Ohio State outside of the Zach Smith situation. I will wait. Oops, time is up since there was nothing else. 7 years with the program and that is all they have on him. Not riding around on a motorcycle with his girlfriend while married, not paying the parents of a star player (multiple head coaches have done this), no major recruiting infractions, no embezzlement charges. Nothing else. Bad coach hirings/retentions is not a controversy as Harbaugh was using the word.

Yep. Urban will live in this asshat's head for the rest of his shitty 0-4 life.
The 0-4 record vs. Meyer and historic beatdown last year are forever. Harbaugh blames the heavens for his own shortcomings, not realizing that he shakes his fists at blind stars.

Also...which is it? He says "All you can be judged on is your record."
Again I get the point but if the record is all that you can be judged on...then...well...why does controversy matter...you can't judge based on it....
I got really bored one time and dug into Urban’s situation at Florida and what I found was shocking and not matching Florida ‘s bs. FYI almost all of the problems were actually Ron Zooks players. In the player offenses they loved to use in numbers as massive, they included a fight between two players, that fight consisted of throwing paper cups and straws at each other in a sandwich shop, one player got into a minor altercation with a tow truck driver putting a boot on his tire, some alcohol open containers, tons of that crap, almost like Brett McMurhy wrote all the hit pieces
Talking heads refuse to acknowledge that Gainesville is a party college town that has always had trouble for players to get into. Some of the best pot is grown in that area (or was back then) and the police often looked the other way when it came to star players. FSU was a mess while the holier than thou Bowden coached there. Urban was lax on his star players but the SEC powers are all like that, LSU and Bama as well.
Harbaugh is just another talking head.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
Also, this is THE TTUN narrative for 20 years...
Ohio State is better at football only because we do things “the right way.”
Yep, I was over at the blog today, and there was plenty of that narrative. Not to mention, quite a bit of excuse making about how Harbaugh should have been 2-2 against Urban, how they paid the refs the one game, and on and on. I even read one guy crying that Urban ran the score up last year. Ran up the score? I was hoping Urban would not only try to score another TD at the end, but go for 2 for an even 70 points. The denial over there is unreal.
3 out of Harbaugh's 4 losses against OSU have been by double digits. Why exactly should he be 2-2 against Meyer again? Brady Hoke had more success against OSU than that. Let that sink in scUM fans.
Eh, put me at -10 if you want but this actually seems pretty tame. Doesn't even seem like he was trying to take a meaningful shot. The Gene Smith quote was way worse.
"Medicine is not a science" - Leo Spaceman
What was the Gene Smith quote?
From a couple years ago. He implied that Michigan needed to hold spring practice in Florida to "jump start" the program, whereas Ohio State wasn't in the position where holding a practice outside of the state was necessary. Harbaugh fired back with this:
Good to see Director Smith being relevant again after the tattoo fiasco. Welcome back!
— Coach Harbaugh (@CoachJim4UM) March 23, 2016
Shows how stupid he is because Ohio State had about 9 nattys the year before incl. football and wrestling.
You're right... if someone asked him "What do you think about Urban's retirement?" … gotta say something!
It is not about whether it was relatively tame or hair on fire. Why was it necessary at all to make the comment? It was as if he was trying to dismiss his poor record against Meyer by saying "isn't it better to have a coach who doesn't have off field issues but cannot win the big ones?" Deflection, pure and simple by trying to throw someone else under the bus. And maybe that is his biggest flaw that ttun should really be paying attention to. He never owns up to the losses being due to his coaching. Always looking for a scapegoat. That may not be controversial but it sure is a character issue.
Fucking loser. Try to play better and see if that helps.
You fucking spent the night at a teenager’s house.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
And ran around shirtless grabbing at the pants of other teens
All good. More bulletin board material for the boys.
I agree. The team will defend their former coach.
Nothing cleanses the soul like a no call pass interference.
You mad bro?
Not a huge deal. And he didn't say anything inaccurate.
Bottom line, Meyer left it out on the field. Nothing more to say. And Harbaugh acknowledged that, too.
It's a completely new era now (Day v. Harbaugh), and it's important we start 1-0.
I agree, he didn’t say anything inaccurate, but I don’t understand the need to publicly say something like that. Jim isn’t exactly an angel, either.
No doubt. And it wouldn't be the first time Jim said something that was strange and unnecessary.
I'm just glad we never lost to this guy, and hope we never do as long as he's manning the Maize and Blue.
I don't have a problem with the quote as much as I do with him saying it 7 months after Meyer left. Say it during the week leading up to the Game last year if you want to talk tough.
Good point. Imagine how even more motivated our squad would have been to take on #4 TTUN at the Shoe.
Meyer might've gone for the jugular and dropped 80 on him if he had done that (his players were already doing their fair share of talking leading up to that game before they got thoroughly disemboweled in the Shoe).
Right. This arrogant fuck doesn't have it in his make-up to just offer praise to your opponents and let your on-field play speak for itself.
I'm gonna go read about how to respect a rivalry. Wonder if this type of thing is covered.....
I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.
I Believe In Ohio State.
Ehhh...give him a break. His vagina is still sore from the beating it took last year.
I think it was another nearby area.
But at least Urban had the decency to use KY.
I think Urban calling them pricks might have riled Jimmy up, the prick.

Well, Columbus wasn't looking for America, my man, but that turned out to be pretty okay for everyone.
I can see where this comes from. All those memes posted where Urban is Jim's daddy has got to be tough on a man's psyche. Now, he won't have the chance to beat him on the field, so has to take cheap shots.
How outrageous should this be?
People remember the score, not the comments.
Hindsight is, and in, 2020

Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Saying shit like this will do nothing but endear him to the slap-nuts fans up here.
And what's the old saying, you don't have haters when you suck?
He can take veiled shots like this all day long .All it sounds like is sour grapes coming from a coach who Meyer routinely humiliated on the field.

Harbaugh must have forgotten that although Urban is gone, his players remain. I hope they are reading about this.
I'm sure the tackling dummies have Harbaugh's head taped onto them

Don’t know where the rest of you stand on this but.. honestly I’ll take National Championships and controversy everyday.
The Future is Bright at Ohio State
Ohio State has been to the BIG Championship Game. So has Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, Penn State, Wisconsin, and NORTHWESTERN. Guess who hasn't........
I know that one! Teams like Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers... and Michigan.
Looks like Urban will be giving the pregame speech before The Game this year. Should be fun.
I was just thinking that Hairball knows that Urban's office is right across from the Woody. Right? Not as if Urban went to another school or died. Can't wait to see what Xichigan is going to be like this year.

Controversy, like not being able to win consistently without Andrew Luck....
Well he's correct for Meyer's last two stops.
But he also doesn't pay attention or cares about all of the great things Meyer did while being a coach (Real Life Wednesdays, increase in GPA and graduation rate, etc.).
The MGO boards are talking about this too and most are saying "well that's true, but who cares because Meyer never lost to us" and hope it doesn't become bulletin board material for us.
It's just Jim being Jim. Move along.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
Someone might need to help me with the Florida controversy. Aaron Hernandez, from 10 years later? The fact that he resigned from carrying too much stress and came back?
I am not completely knowledgeable about his time at Florida, but based on things I've read and the impression I've gotten as a result he was pretty much all about winning and would sacrifice other, more important things, in order to win.
This take isn't wrong..............
Meyer's time at Florida was basically akin to Jimbo Fisher's time at FSU (which now the new FSU AD is taking public shots at him for) only more successful. Winning no matter the cost was priority #1 and once that place started falling apart he got the hell out of dodge.
I don't think most people get into their 40s and change a lot, but maybe, and either way, if I can make a judgement on my close personal knowledge and closely watching for myself, I would rely more on that being their M O. I haven't noticed a win at all cost over the last 7 years... have you?
Definitely didn't seem like the case while he was at OSU. But I think his break from coaching then coming to us did show a big change. He focused on the type of player he recruited and made sure they fit the culture. Academic success was an emphasis he put on the team. He wanted to prepare the players for post-football.
You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but in this case he may have taught himself.
I was talking about Meyer specifically during his time at Florida, NOT during his time at OSU. He was much better at managing his players during his time here (though giving Zach Smith a ridiculous amount of rope to hang himself with just because he was Earle's grandson was far from wise on his part). At Florida his players were getting in trouble constantly and he was extremely lenient in the way he punished them to the point where he had completely lost the plot there by 2010 (aka the post-Tebow era under Meyer). It runs parallel to the way things were at FSU under Jimbo (it recently has been revealed that academic performance was so bad among Jimbo's players that FSU was lucky the NCAA didn't step in and punish them during his run). Taggart hasn't impressed at FSU so far by any means but it is true Jimbo handed him a complete shit sandwich to work with in that program. That is eerily similar to Will Muschamp taking over a Florida program in 2011 that Meyer had basically left in complete disarray.
Coach Meyer stated once in an article that he let the "stars" of his teams in Florida have too much "freedom" with their actions and were treated differently than less talented players.

Whatever. At least the dick head is being honest and not pretending he actually likes Coach Meyer. I don’t remember any controversy at Utah or Bowling Green but I can’t confirm 100%. Thanks for running your mouth Jim...that’ll help your 0-4 record.
It’s the most pure Michigan move there is. They never lose...there is always an excuse to why the other team is better.
That about sums it up. In their minds, they are the only team who does things the right way, and everyone else is cheating, specifically programs that are more successful than they are. My favorite is when they make a comment such as "I'd rather lose the right way than win the wrong way", then proceed to whine and cry about not winning.
What he said was true, but sound like sour grapes on his part.
He’s just mad that Urban has beaten OSU more times than he has as a coach.

Based on the title, I was expecting way worse.. Nothing to see here. **Hits refresh 20 seconds later for valuable news/updates**
This coming from a guy who creates dysfunction everywhere he goes (see his time in SF) because he's a bipolar asshat. Real classy Jimmy. You have an 0-4 record against UFM head-to-head so I guess that means he's worth about 10 of you at this point.
Who cares what Harbaugh says? Losing and mediocrity follow him everywhere he’s been.
But it was all lies, everything.
What a coward. Of all the controversies of Meyer, only one was really his fault by not firing Smith sooner. Harbaugh would not make that comment if Urban were still here. That is in no way respecting the rivalry like Urban talked about before thee game. Crap like this is why Urban is 7-0 against TTUN.
Controversy doesn't stick to unsuccessful people because it doesn't move the needle of public opinion as much. See Harbaugh, Jim

You don't know what you have until it's gone .... for example, toilet paper.
This season will show whether the actions and accusations against Coach Meyer were damaging to our program or not - Harbaugh is implying that issues surrounding Coach Meyer has left disarray in the programs he has moved on from - I just do not see it with our program and I like the rest of you have been watching and reading closely! Then as others have mentioned Jim will now have to face those remaining who followed the man he just spoke of!
I would rather be on hand with 10 men then elsewhere with 10,000 - Timur Lenk
I guess what is confusing me is why he said anything at all. Does Jimmy think saying that about Urban will demoralize/intimidate OSU/Ryan Day for the season? Or is it really a case of Jimmy showing what a true chickenshit he really is? He does realize Urban isn't even the coach anymore right? If so, that isn't "respecting the rivalry" in the least bit. That's kicking a fucking beehive. That's not a class move. That's cowardice.

False. Kindly name one major head coach Michigan has ever hired that came with a checkered past. We're arrogant because we do things the right way except sometimes we cheat really badly by having players stretch an extra 15 minutes. Extra stretching is our one weakness. Ask Mike RosenRosen.

Although his statement is truthful, it sounds like sour grapes. Harbaugh should be 2-2 against Meyer, but instead is 0-4. It took bought referees to beat us 2016 and one of the worst quarterbacks ever to don the maize and blue to beat us in 2017.

I had to pause at he reasoning that Harbaugh should be 2-2 because he fielded the worst QB ever in 2017?

I hope this becomes bulletin board material - extra extra extra motivation to F***ing DESTROY them come November.

How do you respect a rivalry when you're taking cheap shots at a former coach?
If he spent as much time preparing for The Game, as he does flapping his yapp'r, well...
*not gonna happen.
I think someone got caught picking his boogers and eating them on TV and is trying to deflect the heat.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
IT'S ON, Milkboy!
This is awesome and imo excellent bulletin board material for OSU. Harbaugh's a coward and wouldn't dare fix his mouth to say that when Urban was still around but again thanks for the material loser..
It must be controversial to hang too many points on a rival.
N matter how hard you cry, He is still better than you
As always, fuck Michigan.
Looking forward to November 30th when "Ryan Day's Buckeyes" kick Jim Harbaugh's ass in the big house. Can't wait to hear the excuses after that happens.
Nothing is too difficult for the person that doesn't have to do it.
He is incorrect. The conference records since 2015 (his first year there), they have been third in the conference. The records are as follows:
Urban needs definitely to be honorary Captain for The (Upcoming) Game.
The Browns are back in contention for being the worst franchise in all of professional sport.
And Parris Campbell if he can make it......that guy gets the rivalry also.
Enjoy the wins over *ichigan, ....I still remember the dark days of the 1990's....
While Harbaugh's comment can be to an extent supported, it was really lame of him to mention it. Actually, childish. He couldn't just let Meyer go without an insult.
It would be like Coop saying......"well.....those Michigan teams never really beat anybody but us, so I wouldn't give them too much credit." Shit, that was almost funny in a twisted sort of way.
Hey Jim, go fuck yourself

He isn't wrong about anything. I get why this ruffles some feathers but I also get why it doesn't. This is a total Meh to me.
Proudly dispensing unbridled arrogance since 1983.
"Everywhere he's been" would include BG and Utah. Which would be wrong.
Fine, I'll step it back to half of the places he has been, which were his highest-profile jobs.
I can't manufacture any rage for this. I guess I'm a bad Buckeye.
So....I'm stepping it back again. I am a glutton for punishment and headed over to MGo to get their obvious and expected take.
1) Valenti called it.
2) This is being embraced by most because this is how Michigan players and coaches endear themselves to fans. Talk and talk and talk then when you invariably lose, you call back to "oh they are dirty so it's ok that we lost again". And Harbaugh just feeds into it and is more lauded than criticized.
3) If you have any doubts about this program, look no further than this nonsense. Our team's biggest rival is so concerned with the previous regime, I think they just might be ignoring the fact that the architect of last year's destruction is now the CEO of the company. There is more pain coming. Not less.
4) they actually claim a win in the JT OT game. But for "bought refs"....
5) I am in sales at a very high performing software company. The type where arrogance can take root. My VP of sales has ingrained a culture into us. "When you lose, say little, when you win, say less". For all of the talk about how shitty of a program Meyer apparently runs, I don't recall his players being vocal. I guess when you get so used to winning games you 100 percent expect to win, there isn't much of a reason to talk. Like the sun coming up every morning, beating Michigan is just the expected result.
Screw Harbaugh and Screw yesterday's BrewstersMillions for trying to be devil's advocate. This comment hasn't manufactured any rage but those sanctimonious pricks and their reaction sure has.
A lot of teams have a rough two decades. Screw Michigan.
Harbaugh's entitled to his opinion. I'll add that he still doesn't get it. Harbaugh's actions during The Game, whining and bitching rather than coaching when calls went against them, his players talking shit prior to The Game, and now Harbaugh taking a cheap shot at Coach Meyer in retirement show little to no respect for a rival. They define being classless, gutless, and a poor loser.
May the recent trend against these rotten-rat bastards NEVER end! I hope that if Coach Day gets the chance to stick it in and break it off this year that he does so. Go Bucks! Screw Blue!
The only good thing about The Game is winning it - Urban Meyer
I was going to comment - but that pretty much sums up my sentiments.

Yeah, good ole Jimmy Hairball looses the “right way”
Oh, Jimmy...…..you just don't get it.

Pete Thamel from Yahoo Sports with the smack down of Harbaugh.
Are Harbaugh and Michigan truly pure as freshly fallen snow? Are any top D1 program and coach truly 100% controversy free? For one thing, I would imagine the admissions standards for Harbaugh’s players are not the same as those for typical Michigan undergrads. So by that example alone, Harbaugh needs only to look in the mirror.
Maybe Jim should coach in the Ivy League or the Patriot League.
I think its laughable to go after a guy who time and again beat your butt. I also think its funny coming from at the very best for most of his tenure possibly only the 3rd best coach in the conference. So Harbaugh sit back drink a glass of milk, unwad your panties and thank your lucky stars the guy you couldn't beat is gone
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, its a war room
Buckeye Nation will let that pathetic shit stain know when he is permitted to have an opinion on UFM. Harbaugh with his birth control glasses, bank stare, bleach skin, tree climbing , and sleep overs at recruits, he has enough issues. Muck Fichigan!!
Big mistake! The only way they will stay relevant is to talk! Desperate!
No way this comment helps him at all..
So much in life is affected by timing. Why this, why now?
Urban has retired and That Coach Up North has never beaten him. Was this to energize the fan base? Can't see how it would. It actually reminds them of their futility against our Buckeyes.
Was it to intimidate our new coach saying he had the second best record except for Ohio State? Don't see how that would work considering the talent level and quality coaches at OSU. Have fun chasing Justin Fields around.
Controversies? He is out of coaching. Ancient history. Why this, why now?

If I'm Ryan Day, I'm playing audio of this interview, and maybe other dumb shit he and his terrible players have said, on full audio in the Woody 24-7 during The Game week.
If they haven't done so already,The _ichigan athletic department needs to equip the scoreboard in the Shit House with the capability to display THREE numbers................

They're gonna need it.
Well, Jim, it was once said "don't hate the player, hate the game". I think that aptly applies here.
Seems pretty unprofessional imo
Do you know what follows Jimmy Boy everywhere he goes? A losing record versus top ten teams!!
I"m sure Jimmy will drink to that... since the 'leader' of young *ichigan men has a DUI conviction on his record!

One more reason for Urban Meyer to come back as USC head coach... so we can watch him beat Harbaugh in the Rose Bowl. Would be so frustrating for Harbaugh
Buckshots... in case you have amnesia.
Nah. Harbaugh will never make it to the Rose Bowl.
I don't care what Hairball said. He's not important or relevant. Coach Day was great at Media day. Class is evident with our head coach. We are in a great place.
Losing is hard. What a douchebag. Built in excuses for what he has to know is his inevitable failure

Does anyone still want to play an undefeated TSUN team? I want them to lose every game, forever.
This! So much this.

Those who disagree probably never lived through the Cooper years.
I sense there will be a bulletin board item the week of the "game" with smuck's face above and this little tidbit with it.
Can't wait to see the Bucks fired up at this one....
Logged in just to say: Fuck Michigan and that tree climbing, slumber party having, booger eater.
You gotta love a rivalry. JH said exactly three sentences about Meyer. The first two sentences was a compliment and the third sentence was a criticism. Both comments were true. The compliment was ignored and the criticism was the title of an article. Isn't it interesting how the human brain works.
Strength equipment is expensive & guarantees you nothing. A strong will is free & will give you everything you need.
The two “compliments” were in answer to the question. The pot shot was just that, and a dick move. That was the last sentence and absolutely unresponsive to the question asked. If I was you, I’d be pissed. Your coach has had his ass kicked 3 out of 4 years and is 0-4 and he’s talking smack!?!
“I intend to make Georgia howl.” General William Tecumseh Sherman
It doesn't make a difference to me. People need to be themselves. What he said was true. JH is gonna be JH and Meyer is gonna be Meyer.
But Hairbaw conveniently forgot to mention that Michigan has had FIVE players arrested in four years under his leadership while Urban had SEVEN in seven years at OSU. He also seems to forget that he ( Hairbaw) e had beaucoup players arrested while at the 49ers. People who can't beat their rival and live in glass houses should keep their yap shut. And please remind us how many national titles Jimbo has?? Crickets...
You sound upset. Are you interested in a discussion or do you just want to vent?
If so we have to stick to the topic. The topic isn't about titles or records. He already said Meyer had a great record. JH has conceded that point. The topic is about the controversy surrounding Meyer's programs. It sounds like you suggesting that JH has more controversy surrounding his programs than Meyer. Is that what you're saying or are you just talking about arrest records?
My goal was to show Hairbaw has had as much 'controversy' as Urban without the results. Hairbaw is widely disliked and has worn out his welcome nearly every place he has been -- while multiple players who played with him and for him --college or pro-- have made that clear. Upset? Nah, just calling out your weak attempt to cover up for a coach who was ordained as yet ANOTHER savior of a once proud Michigan program and hasn't produced . Care to name a major successful college program who has won (read: conference titles and national title appearances) without 'controversy' ? Oh wait ...how about App State?? But you go ahead and continue to drink that blue koolaid and enjoy a grown man climbing trees, going shirtless and having sleep overs . You must be proud.

Are you sure you're not upset? Vent away my man, it's all good.
Upset?? again...nah. Just making multiple points that you refuse to acknowledge. Ol' Jimmy is a socially inept coach who has had 'controversy' everywhere he has been but without the expected associated success. But, once again... you are apparently nothing but a lemming effectively jumping off a cliff in defense of man who has never won anything. Me thinks you'll eventually tire of the annual beat downs in November but then perhaps you simply enjoy the the "agony of defeat". Either way ..."it's all good".
I would be happy to have a discussion, but history tells me when there is a lot of tough talk surrounding your commentary it's difficult to have a discussion based in reality. If you'd like to make a post free of tough talk I'd be happy to engage.
What he said was true.
No it isn't. What controversy was there at Utah or BGSU?
You're correct, he could have been more specific with UF & OSU, which is the majority of his coaching tenure. But, I don't think thats the point. I'm pretty sure everyone knew what he meant and it's true there was controversy at both the two places he was referencing. Meyer also never won a conference title at BGSU, but no ones scrutinizing the part about him being successful everywhere,. You have to look at it for what it is without bias.
Such a dick move by Harbaugh to take a gratuitous pot shot at Urban who kicked your ass all 4 times. He is a prick. They are pricks. One would think they’d have learned by now how to respect the rivalry, but here we go again, another one of those arrogant pricks spouting off.
Harbaugh, you are worthless, your school is worthless, and throughout your pathetic career, you have exactly won NO CHAMPIONSHIPS!!! Plus, you are Urban's and The Ohio State University's BITCH!!!!! FUCK MICHIGAN AND FUCK HARBAUGH!!!!!
Michigan's Mark Valenti nailed it today.
Good Video- some items he said-
"I don't want anymore talk, I want the Walk"
"Harbaugh can't control himself"
"Harbaugh has plenty of controversy in his career"
"He can't stay in one place too long, people don't like him"
"Harbaugh 49ers lead the league in team players arrests when he coached them- there were 11-12 or so arrested"
"You were running a jail house the 1st three years you were there"
"Dude Just ain't right"
"Wisconsin has a better record then Harbaugh-harbaugh is incorrect that they were #2 in the BIG"
"Can't chirp a guy that you were 0-4 against"
Valenti is a die hard Spartan(He's an Alum), what he's saying is true to a point, just want to point out that he hates Michigan.
Just finished listening to Valenti, I usually don't much in the offseason...Anyways he does make a good point saying if he was a Michigan fan he would be tired of the talk period. I've had enough of the Revenge Tours and all the other cliches and BS thrown around every year. Just shutup and play. Anyways his wedding analogy was spot on, at first I gave Harbaugh credit for not using the usual BS coach speak when asked a question, but he really shouldn't have went there.
Controversy follows Meyer ?? How about the boys in the white coats following you, Hairball ?? Tree climbing, sleep over creeping, classroom sitting, milk drinking, shirtless, albino-skinned psycho, who hasn't won a college game against a team that has a heart beat ..... These are the death throws of a man who is about to lose his job ......
Hairball is as stupid as his players...what he said is excellent bulletin board material..there are still alot of players and staff around that love and played and worked for Urban.....thanks ASSHOLE from up north....
Am I the only one that thinks that maybe his comments were taken out of context? Not saying they were or weren't but the description is pretty vague I'd have to listen to the podcast to understand.
You people make me laugh
When my cat has a 'Hairbaugh' in it's throat, it has to throw up to get rid of it!

"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
First, I will give a little disclaimer and say that I love the intensity you guys have and how much you actually hate us. Yes, Harbaugh is a moron, but he is OUR moron- for better and worse. He was owned by Urban and made ANOTHER STUPID COMMENT! If you think his comments in the press are stupid you should meet him in real life. One of the biggest jackasses I have ever met. When with the Bears he would come to AA often and party with some guys from my fraternity. He knew the son of a major U-M donor who was in our house. I won't reveal the worst things but let's just say that thank God for JH that the late Vada Murray was a cop for the Ann Arbor PD then. He cleaned up things. He even said that he wanted SO MUCH to.... That's what a arrogant prick JH was. As bad as he may seem now that is nothing compared to his Former Self. Anyway, after attending Michigan, being in an athlete friendly fraternity, living down the hall from the Fab 5 in S Quad dorm their freshmen year and basically witnessing many people- many good, many bad or stupid- I became numb to that stuff and realized that these athletes (at all schools) are humans that are NOT to be idolized. And that doesn't even describe the third category- those who are just straight thugs with no intentions of flying right. Harbaugh is NOT like that! He may do stupid stuff, but he is no where EVEN CLOSE to that 3rd category. I could name names, but I won't, of course! That experience in the early 90's did help me take this stuff for what it REALLY IS. So, I am grateful for that and now try my best to take in stride. All that being said, I have to admit that you Bucks have had way more PASSION AND INTENSITY than we have since Tressel arrived. I look forward to that returning at Michigan football and actually making this a rivalry again. I welcome ALL comments. I have thick skin. Anyway, I do have some questions about how you Buckeye fans feel about certain things but I'll save that for later as I have spoken enough.
Appreciate the post, man
So let me get this straight --

Sour grapes = OK

I'm probably the only Ohio state fan that didn't get triggered by this true statement
I rather have 0-7 on my resume than Hernandez and Z. Smith
This coming from one who down votes more than he up votes. Did you even read the down voting policy on 11W? And, no, I did not down vote you as your comments did not cross the line as defined by the aforementioned 11W policy. Nice resume by the way! LOL
He probably has a few more usernames here.
I respect that I haven't been hammered. Although, if I had, it's all good. There's a reason I chose this site. Ohioans flat out know and love football, as do I!!! Believe it or not, some of the greatest conversations I have had when watching Michigan on the road have been late night WELL AFTER the game finished talking to OSU fans after a night of drinking on High Street. After the drama simmered I a little, many fans were VERY COOL to me- albeit, in a fairly restrained way, both of us LOVING this GREAT RIVALRY. This was back in the early 90s though. But people are still people, even 20 years later. I ALWAYS wore my Michigan gear as most U-M people even told me to take it off, for safety reasons. No way! I don't start stuff, but I'll NEVER hide my allegiance. Yeah, a few scraps sometimes occurred. But, big deal. If a man can't take a concussion,or 3-5, what kind of man is he? I'm older and not QUITE like that anymore. I wasn't fast enough to play in college, so that was kind of my way of participating in the GREATEST RIVALRY. Harbaugh s comment was INCREDIBLY STUPID but at least he is showing some fire. Sadly, THAT fire has been missing by the Michigan football players lately and our biggest stumbling block (OSU, Tressel and Urban Meyer Big time) have WAY out desired the win in having a intense attitude towards beating us. It wasn't always this way and I'm thinking that Michigan will start matching the Bucks fire again. I remember seeing how jacked up Larry Foote was and instilled in the team in the late 90s- 2000. IMO, the year 2000 was the last time Michigan REALLY brought it! If you don't believe me, watch the recording. They were flying around as the WINGED WARRIORS they are meant to be, and hopefully, will be again. As for now, Harbaugh should shut up, and I probably should too. So, go off on me! I love it. I respect Urban and OSU but I AM A Michigan Man, for better and worse! That's heavy, thanks for reading and we will see what happens in the future. I can't wait till November. Peace out, WELL KIND OF.
I hate Michigan! Really if the guy owns you like Meyer does Hairball just be nice and you won't look so stupid
Good looking out, Buckeye in Cleveburg. Next to where I now live, S FL, that area is the mecca of football!!! But I do have to say, even being a Northerner, that the high school football players down here in metro Miami bring it SO hard. Playing in the humidity here is unreal and produces a toughness beyond measure. Example- the Bosas and D Bush. And more people here love the Bucks. I don't say that to kiss ass. It's just the truth. Ohio State football is the most national brand, at least now. It's replaced Notre Dame. I think the mentality down here is very conducive to the OSU football culture.
I agree with you Buckeye Bob. He should shut up about Urban. He was 0-4 against him. That's why I was so long in describing what a GENUINE MORON Harbaugh really is. But, he is OUR moron and a native son. He is Grandfathered in! Undying allegiance. Michigan Men!
Harbaugh is not a native son of Michigan, he is from Toledo Ohio.
Question- what is it about the Youngstown and surrounding area that produces the level of intensity it does? I have some ideas. I just welcome some comments from the people who are from there. I THINK it's kinda similar to what NYC is like for the cut throat world of business. That's why I moved there right after I graduated from Michigan. I strive to be in the biggest pool that I can. I wound up working as a FC for Smith Barney.
Anybody see that piece of crap Greg McElroy defend Harbaugh and say, "I'm not sure that your entire career can be defined by your outcome against one opponent..." THAT'S LITERALLY THE CALLING CARD FOR THE OSU-MICH RIVALRY! John Cooper prime example...great coach who couldn't beat Michigan...guy is literally only remembered for that. Do your homework idiot McElroy.
When that foot sinks into the ball at noon against the team up north, you shall be ready...
Indeed, Nate. He obviously doesn't understand the depth of the Game.
I appreciate your response, 'Rollredroll'. I thought that there may be more discussions/debates here. I want to be corrected if I'm wrong, thanks. That's how I learn. Please, feel free to call me out fellas, when warranted.
Harbaugh is a jackass. There's no reason to bring up anything about controversy. With that being said, I do agree that it a new regime could be a good thing. Urban checked out as soon as he received a suspension. I told my buddy, well this is his last season. I was just surprised he didn't quit right away. Also, I don't think he was a completely an innocent victim of a media witch hunt like a lot of people seem to believe. I appreciated his time here, and he did save the program as I'm not sure a lesser coach would have turned us around so quickly and put us back to the top of college football so fast, but I'm not sure it ended in a crazy way. I think we all kind of knew something weird would end his tenure here, and likely will wherever he coaches next.
Okay, I clearly stated what I respect about OSU. NOW, I have to ask this question and I hope someone actually responds in an intelligent manner. Yes JH said a stupid thing- he does all the time. But, is it really that bad? I previously stated that I liked the abuse I took in Columbus. I took it. I didn't cry. Even though I was literally beat by 4guys at once. Was that fair? Of course not. But it goes with the territory. Can't have best of all worlds. And that was just talk! I actually was a victim of a fairly significant crime. I got a concussion. Oh well- that's what can happen when you wear a Michigan shirt in Columbus. I'm just saying it works both ways. It's Michigan vs Ohio State! This type of stuff makes the rivalry what it is. It SURE hasn't been Michigan's performance on the field! Not in the last 15 or so years. The fact that the rivalry is STILL an intense rivalry despite the EXTREMELY uneven on field performance is really amazing!!! I can't think of any other two schools that would still be considered a rivalry with those results. I realize this is a an OSU site and I believe that I have been accurate and respectful while still being honest. Equal playing field, PLEASE. Now, go off on me. I can take almost anything.
I don't think it is really that bad--but classless and clueless. Can't say I'm surprised though.
It is the media days for THIS season. Urban is no longer coach. Let it go and focus on what is important--THIS year. He could have easily said "well, Urban is no longer coach--got any questions about my football team and this year?"
It just sounds like deflection and sour grapes. Bulletin board material for us for sure!
Being assaulted by 4 hooligans because you are wearing the clothes of a hated rival is unacceptable behavior in any civilized society. I can't imagine many Buckeye fans would ever condone a beating as you described.
As for Harbaugh, he is very awkward socially and that's most visible when he has to make unscripted responses in front of a mic. The best and only answer from Harbaugh should have been respectful and classy. It wasn't. You'd be hard-pressed as a fan of your school to find an incident in recent memory where an OSU player, coach, or official has been comparably as foolish to take a cheap shot at our rivals. Go Bucks! Screw Blue!

Double down on this. That is horrible.
What a man of class would have (and did) say about one of the finest coaches in college football history.
"First of all, Urban Meyer’s done a tremendous job there. I think he’s lost – I have two hands, and I think he’s only lost eight times. So it’s amazing over the course of time, since 2012, the championships that have been won there and the direction that that program has gone and what’s taken place there. I’ve been very impressed with Ryan Day. I’ve only met him a couple times. Obviously had great success on the football field, but I’ve been impressed with him as a person, too — down to earth and charismatic. So I look forward to the challenges that he brings."
I believe he is one of only three coaches to have beaten Urban twice.
Urban kicked our ass AND left the program ABSOLUTELY LOADED for Ryan Day. I honestly don't know how we will ever catch up at this point. I think it's going to have to take a freakish event for us to fully catch up. People leave and 4 more others do just as well as him, or so it seems. I'm sure there are players on your roster that I have never heard of but will eventually running circles around us. I really think you guys are SO stacked- both in the literal roster, but also the reputation of the program nationally. Trust me on this, I have lived in NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles and now, S FL and almost every player of significance is dying for an offer from you guys. It's THAT good for OSU now and also that tough for Michigan, as we can't avoid you. The saving grace is that if we ever do win again, we should be fully qualified for the playoffs. Alright, I'm done now. I said way too much already.
Spartan Bobby, do you remember when MSU beat U-M a few years ago on the blocked punt?

Every time this guy speaks I see his headphones falling off.
Someone up north should throw a sheet over him.

I hope Day runs the score up on this pussies, every year. I want to see 2-pt. conversions when we are up by 30!
Urban may not be on the sideline bit his minions are. He has taught them how to handle your business. Maybe name him honorary head coach come November, except coach Day needs to start getting his ass kicking of *ichigan going.
"All you can be judged on is your record. What your record is overall. What your record is within your conference. What your record is with head-to-head matchups," Harbaugh said.
*Except when I judge Meyer for what other people within his program do and blame him for it. What a clown show this guy is lol
"All you can be judged on is your record. What your record is overall. What your record is within your conference. What your record is with head-to-head matchups," Harbaugh said.
With that being said-he sucks at his job. 3rd place is not elite and with no Championships. That would mean he isn't that good and defers his lack of ability to coach an elite program to what he does best-diverting the lack of performance attention away from himself. In 8 months, Day has piled on 62 points on his team and completely dominated him in "The game", he then turns around and takes two of his coaches and now is beating him in the recruiting game. I think old Jimmy is getting desperate,
Would love to hear why his 49ers team lead the NFL in player arrests the 1st three years he was there. Mr "Do it right" was leading the league in that category and doing well there. Maybe he should get a job running a prison.
"Those who stay will be 3rd best."

"controversy" follows Bellichek, Saban, Carroll, Swinney, Bowden, Meyer....see a pattern? The more you win...the more your 'controversies' reach the surface...
Too many concussions for that guy.
Although I haven't been a huge fan of Harbaugh so far for obvious reasons, i'll give him credit for not using BS coach speak and just saying nice things about Urban. What he said was true, and as much as Michigan fans want to complain about how Urban runs a program, those same fans wouldn't complain if he was hired at Michigan.
And see the link from the Detroit Free Press below. JH’s team is in the top 25 over the last 5 years - in football player arrests. Makes me think about the old saying about people in glass houses throwing stones....
I don't think the controversy he's talking about has anything to do with player arrests. How he handled Zach Smith and other things at Florida is what he's referring to. College kids get in trouble everywhere it's nothing new.
Hey Jim, keep eating that size 11 foot.
“Yea waiter can I get 7- 0 with a little side of controversy. “
Simply a Buckeye till I die.
you will be served up a can of whup ass on nov 30, mr. head case. you and your skunk weasels might say you see a mirage...but in reality it will be nothing less than painful reality.
Jim Harbaugh is a coach but unfortunately losing follows him everywhere he goes
