But can Ryan Day recruit??
I want a fall Saturday in Ohio Stadium..
Certainly can bring in those three stars
Certainly can bring in those three stars
Hawk was a 3* recruit
Elflein was a 3* recruit
Lee was a 3* recruit
Need I go on?
Urban Meyer, undefeated (7-0) VS ttun | Ryan Day, undefeated (2-0) vs ttun
*As always, In (Urban) Ryan Day I Trust! There is a plan, even if we cannot see it right now!
God, Family, Guns, Country, and Sports!
I thought recruiting would be fine but maybe dip a little bit. Glad I was wrong!
I thought the same thing. Day and the whole staff are doing a great job. I am shocked actually. They went from possibly the best recruiter to do it, to a relative unknown. I know he has been in living rooms in last year but come on. He is crushing it.I thought it would be around 10-15 ranked class. This dude come in and land a top 5 class maybe top 3.
Just out of curiosity, can someone run the numbers on what adding Bijan Robinson to the class would do for our overall ranking, (assuming Clemson doesn't add another freaking 5 star)?
Would adding him over take Clemson, or do we also need to add Elias Ricks?
If I must choose between peace and righteousness, I choose righteousness! -Theodore Roosevelt.
Doesn't matter. Still be 2nd. They have 3 less players committed as well.
I just want to see my 7 year old son dance for joy if I tell him we passed those evil orange cats.. even if it's only for a moment lol.
Doesn't really matter - since Clemson WILL be adding additional 5 stars (as will UGA and Bama) in the coming months. No matter who OSU brings in for the remaining spots left, we will end up in 4th behind Clemson, UGA, and Bama when all is said and done.
And that is still awesome.
I'm of the mind with what we have coming in Binjan Robinson & I am saying right here and now we WILL Flip Elais Ricks from LSWho after he takes his official to CBus for the PSU Game, that this class will end up 3rd behind Clemson & Bama. I really love this class and I think this can rival Urban's first full class in 2013. Now I am NOT saying it will be better all time than 2013 class but it will be right up there with it! Ryan Day is killing it on the recruiting trail! I got to also say Jeff Hafley has been a great addition recruiting wise and I look forward to seeing what the Silver Bullets do this fall! Go Bucks!
Because they wouldn't let me go for 3!

Right on ATL!
It seems like five schools ( LSU, Clemson, Bama, Georgia, and Ohio State) have separated from schools like Oklahoma, Notre Dame, ScUM, and the rest of the pack, to form an “elite” tier of recruiting. The average rating per player for all five of these schools is off the charts, and there is very little difference between any of these five recruiting classes.
While we don’t know what punishment (if any), the NCAA will have for LSU, these are the five schools that will have the best chance to make the college football playoff in the next few years, and it seems the recruits know this.
I think the new game is just for the Buckeyes to finish in the top five every year in recruiting, and we should be fine.
Like you I will be thrilled if our average rating per player stays in the top five in every season going forward!.
Clemson only has 18 commits so far. With such a large gap between us...seriously doubt anybody catches them.
Yeah their class is unreal. Dabo's shady recruiting tactics works on kids. He is probably tweeting at them from fake accounts posing as opposing team's fans while also telling them face to face other coaches are about to leave the program.
It’s all kind of moot right now. Everyone is going to be adding players between now and NSD 1 and/or NSD 2. Some will likely lose a player or two between now and then as well (looking at you meowing kittens). At the end of the day, regardless of where we end up ranked, this is an awesome class to have under any circumstances, let alone with a first year HC replacing a legend.
Something about the star ratings and total numbers there doesn’t add up.
“Feeling cold is psychological” -Woody
Bama and Georgia have fewer recruits. Assuming they get the same number by adding at least 4 stars they will pass us on totals as well as average. LSU may as well. Will gladly take top 5 with a new head coach who wasn't a legend coming in.
I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!
OSU is 2nd in points but 4th in avg player ranking. Both are good
Clemson - 94.56
Bama - 93.19
Georgia - 92.87
LSU - 92.47
Ohio State - 92.09
Texas also has a higher average.
Look at scUM with nary a 5 star in sight!
The Urban Meyer classes were great. Period. If there was a weakness in the program, it was that most of the athletes were gone after a few years. We got a year or 2 less out of most players. I felt like we needed a few more 3 star guys like AJ Hawk (Who doesn't of course) But those guys tend to stick around. They haven't had it in their heads that long that they are ready. Plus, they aren't sure how long their NFL career will be, so the extra year to get the degree is crucial. I really , really like that we have balanced the recruiting methods of Urban with the blatant need to have more seniors in the program. I love the balance.
I don't follow stars that close but am a bit surprised to see Ohio State with 9 3 star players.
Clemson had 15 last year fwiw.
For some extra context...
I believe our #1 rated kicker is being counted as a 3* recruit. And Cameron Martinez was also a 3* recruit due to not being projected at a specific position, but is by all accounts going to be an absolute MONSTER wherever he plays, likely in the secondary.
Beyond that, we have several guys that are right on the edge of 3* and 4*, and some will likely get bumped up into 4* range.
And finally, 3* guys are often some of the hardest working guys on a team. They have a chip on their shoulder. They also often stick around through their senior seasons. And it's not uncommon for many of them to end up as the best players on the team. Remember a guy named AJ Hawk?
There's been a lot of grumblings about the number of 3* guys in this class. I an not worried at all. Especially when viewed in context of the 5* and high 4* guys we have. Most of our 3* guys are lineman as well, and they can be hard to judge, and can also be molded into studs in a good strength program (Mickey marotti anyone?). The skill position players in this class are almost universally top 100 guys. That's exactly what you want!
"No we don't give a da*n 'Bout the whole state of *ichigan"
And for bonus context: in a given class there are about 30 5* guys, 350 4* guys and 1300 3* guys (numbers vary by year obviously but you get the idea). So if you’re a top-25 type program, you’re going to be happy to get even one 5* player, and would happy with anything close to 10 4* players. So the rest of the class is going to fill out with 3* guys by necessity.
....he ain't lyin'
Enjoy the wins over *ichigan, ....I still remember the dark days of the 1990's....
Days response to a question about Martinez. (Reporter) "Where exactly do you plan on playing Martinez?" (Day) "on the field."
But according to Mythigan fans we we're doomed in recruiting when Meyer left. Bwahahaha suck it TTUN fans!
I think with bijan, kourt Williams, knighton, and a Ricks flip we could possibly land the #2 class when all is said and done.
And in a perfect world, someone actually goes digging on the Clemson PEDs and the LSU bagmen and those programs see what it's like going through a scandal in the national media. Neither of those programs would survive a scandal like we did last year. And our "scandal" wasn't nearly as egregious as a steroid or pay to play scandal would be.
One can only hope.
Considering how few recruits Clemson and Bama have so far, I don't think there's any way we end up ahead of them unless they lose a few top commits and really blow it the rest of the way
what hypocrisy at ESPN and The SECheat network to “shame” and crucify OSU 24/7 on their network for technically nothing and definitely no violations that would give OSU any unfair advantage on the field
Meanwhile Clemson gets caught cold turkey with PEDs , LSU and Auburn get caught red handed AGAIN in not only basketball but football as well with major felony pay for play cheating that clearly should warrent major penalties and these hypocrites go silent!?
We need Fox, The Big Ten Network ( who through Urban under the bus) to end the double standards here, expose these violations in the media and demand these cheaters be punished .
But ESPN... grumble grumble grumble
I dont see why any of those 3 stars wont make jumps during their senior year. I believe Martinez should have a huge jump to at least the top 150.
I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!
He has a big chance to be one of the biggest steals of the entire class.
Hard to fathom what recruiting will look like if Day and Co manage to make the CFP the next couple of years
That's going to be key. If Clemson wins this year, and or next, before the incoming haul of 5-stars have a chance to make an impact, it's going to solidify their recruiting status/position and make them even more formidable on the field, becoming another 'Bama. The "recent" Buckeye championship, all of 4 years ago already, and under a former head coach, will be viewed as ancient history by recruits. Day and the Buckeyes need to break the Alabama-Clemson cabal sooner rather than later.
This was exactly the news that was needed at this point! Hoping they can add Robinson, Knighton, Williams, flip Ricks, and maybe snag Cowan. That said, if the 2020s were finished today, this wouldn't be a bad class at all! Glad to see Day et al. continuing things were Urban left off.
Big freaking BOOMS from Ryan Day and the staff. Love it. Go Bucks!
And everyone else while you’re at it!

At this point recruiting rankings isn't everything. But it isn't nothing!
You're not wrong! :D

Boom, Boom, Boom!
"I think Alabama would beat Ohio State if they played next weekend!" Clay Travis Fox Sports Post Championship Show 1.12.2015. Needs no explanation.
And the #1 spot has a bullseye on it by Day and the Bucks!
Enjoying daily the back to back ttun beatdowns.
Coach Day made some great hires. These new guys are putting in work
Day is literally doing all the right things. What a great start to his tenure. And the class isn't even full yet!
"Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream."
Ryan Day was able to bring in top tier 5 star offensive recruits which Urban was never really able to do. I am looking at Justin Fields, Julian Flemming, and Garrett Wilson. Guys that can carry the team offensively for a win. Is this what it takes to win? We will find out soon.
Look at the drop-off in score from #4 LSU to Notre Dame and on down.
What a phenomenal job by the staff. Looking at who is directly behind us, I won’t get comfortable at 2 because bama is going to come on at some point, but even to be top five given that we’ve got a new head coach is absolutely incredible
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Guys, I think these next few years are gonna be pretty good.
It was a catch.
Phenomenal job by the coaches in recruiting. Obviously with all the coaching changes I was concerned. But I liked Coach Day's renewed focus on Ohio kids. The evidence shows he's not leaving the national scene either. Truly an amazing feat by the entire staff.
You win with people.
Ironically, the list above is "live" and we are third now in an article that says we jumped up to second ;-)
