If Holtmann can get this team to be the fourth best in the conference then more power to him. Not saying it can’t happen, and it will help to use the non-con to get everyone acclimated, but man there is a lot of new blood being counted on all at once. I think the highlight of the list is seeing the bottom half with ttun and IU in there, but Northwestern last?
"They say, "these geeks come a dime a dozen. I'm lookin' for the guy who's supplyin' the dimes." -Classy Freddie Blassie
I mean Northwestern finished last in the big ten this past year... and combine that with losing their top three leading scorers and it makes sense
I’m curious about Nebraska and what kind of impact Fred Hoiberg will have in Lincoln his first year.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
I’d definitely take a top four finish, especially with what would be coming back the year after.
I think the most interesting position on that list is PSU at #5... I'm really surprised by that... ...PSU at #5 is just so not normal...
Aaron Craft's toughness and grit are incredible. He is a Buckeye legend. Best wishes to him and Carmen's Crew in TBT.
So the Igor Rausis story was too good to be true. Go figure. I have not played chess in years but always enjoyed it, even if I was never a grandmaster. Reading this story is disheartening, but I am sure that there are dozens of other players doing the same thing and cheating. Such is the way of the world these days I suppose.
How exactly do you cheat even with a phone? I wouldn’t know what to google even if I tried.
Call a friend who is another chess guru to get their opinion on a strategy.
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
Have the other person on the other end entering moves against a top chess engine.
Maybe a friend named Deep Blue (or one of his progeny.)
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
The free Stockfish chess engine is stronger than any human who has ever lived.
Pretty much any of the top engines are, but the trick is using one that more accurate mimics how humans play so you would want to go with something like HIARCS or Shredder.
Drue Chrisman needs to be apart of a "Special Teams TD" this year. I can almost see him "flipping" the water bottle rock over his right shoulder on a fake...
And he can flip the rock pretty good, he's a former quarterback.
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka 'Aina I ka Pono. The life of the land is preserved in righteousness. (Hawai'i state motto) Aloha nui kakou.
Jordan started and was damn good as a true freshman, may as well continue that trend and become a force as a rookie
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Am I the only person that read that first line and was like “wait, they drafted the famous Michael Jordan for football as well as basketball and baseball? Sorry, I’m a browns fan, I just think Cincy is so broke that even #23 at his age could benefit Cincinnati
If I must choose between peace and righteousness, I choose righteousness! -Theodore Roosevelt.
To me, I think Jordan is in an ideal situation with a team that really has a lack of an identity and a pretty good starting spot opening for him. Not a Bengals fan here either, I've laughed at them more than I've taken them seriously, but I certainly wish well for our Buckeyes.
Where can I purchase one of those guitars?
"The minute we stop expecting greatness, we become Wisconsin."
They’re big Bucks.
Watch out Seth, the big Bucks, as in the OSU trademark lawyers, are coming after you!
It looks like a Gibson. They are in Nashville IIRC. Bring money, lots of it.
Not a Gibson. It looks like a PRS (Paul Reed Smith) single cut, so get your wallet out. That's a three thousand guitar.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
You are correct, and it wouldn't be a surprise if it cost north of 3K.
that inlay tho....
"The future is bright at Ohio State." - Urban Meyer 1/1/15
Yeah that inlay was my favorite part too.
Kevin, do you play in a band?
“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt
I do not currently. I was in various local bands all throughout high school and very nearly went to school at Belmont in Nashville for audio engineering instead of Ohio State, so music has always been a big part of my life.
Belmont is a great school! I've visited their campus several times and tried to get my daughter to go there. I have several co-workers that are connected to Belmont - one a graduate and the other who retired after teaching English there for 25 years.
It's such a shame to have fine instruments in your collection and not get to play them with others! If you ever want a bass player to jam with, give me a shout. I'm currently without an active band and itching to play more (it gets boring sitting in your own office playing with yourself ;-)
The guitar is made by Wagner custom guitar out of Toledo. Definitely cost at least a couple thousand dollars or more!
Possibly a one of a kind!
Was it painted by Wagner? Because, although I can't see the headstock, the inlays and the that single cut body shape are PRS trademarks. So, either it's a PRS replica made by Wagner (I know they make replica PRS and EVH striped series guitars), or they painted it for him (I assumed a player at his level would have an actual PRS endorsement). Either way, it's sharp... altho I really dislike Ohio State's branded logo and would have left that off. I wish they'd just have the scarlet block O with the Buckeye leaf in the bottom corner. I really dislike Ohio State spelled out across the O.
Yeah it’s definitely a PRS. I’m not a huge Skillet guy, but it looks like he’s played those guitars for many years and almost certainly has an endorsement.
Edit: Also, I just looked at his original Instagram post again and he thanked PRS and two PRS guys. So I guess that answers our questions.
Also, he named the guitar “Brutus” which is awesome.
Yeah they are not cheap.
I've got vivid memories of watching the thunderbirds at the Dayton air show when I was a kid, thinking those guys were absolute rockstars
When Tom Cruise was filming Top Gun, he was told by one the movie’s technical advisors that there are only four jobs worth having: movie actor, professional athlete, rock star or fighter pilot.
Hopefully, Captain Oliver can convince the Thunderbirds to add a new formation: Dot the i in the Sky.
OMG, he should totally do that! It would certainly be much classier than the sky dongs that the navy does out here in Washington. (Sorry NAVY, if you're out there,)
Preseason press and all, but I do like seeing the hoops squad getting all kinds of it.
Seth Morrison's guitar is awesome.
I had to run away high, so I wouldn't come home low...
I just went to a great air show last weekend at the Toledo Express Airport. The 180th fighter wing are pretty damn impressive. But it could've been better though, if the Thunderbirds would have been there.
Congrats to Kyle Oliver for being accepted to the Thunderbirds. If you ever get a chance to see these guys(or the Navy Blue Angels, for that matter), it is incredible!
"If you're not changing, you're falling behind."
Absolutely! Major kudos to Captain Oliver for making the Thunderbirds. In his next life, he can aspire to be a Blue Angel! :>) jk. The Thunderbirds are great...
I haven't seen the Blue Angel since I was a kid. Love to see that again.
Years ago I was part of an airshow where the Blues performed. I happened to be next to the runway just before their show, so I hid in the grass a few feet away and watched them takeoff. Very impressive (and loud since they were F4's).
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mutilate.
Come to Seattle the first week of August, they're here every year. They perform over Lake Washington, which is covered with a thousand boats. The single-plane 'sneak pass' down the lake at mast height (OK, a little bit higher) is a crowd favorite. The warmup act is usually an A-10 or F-22, which are way cool, and the airshow is bracketed by hydroplane racing, which is also pretty darned noisy.
Hopefully Chrisman doesn’t stop Haubeil on his approach and reach into his pocket again #dudeyouarealreadyengaged...
Drue Chrisman holds Haubeil’s balls, which seems only right as Chrisman probably keeps his in his fiancé’s purse like most men do...
Love Seth's guitar but I wonder if OSU got their cut($) or if he'll be receiving a cease-and-desist letter from the trademark and licensing department.
If OSU could make Skillet cease-and-desist from making music they would be doing everyone with ears a HUGE favor
Leave one wolf alive....and the sheep are never safe
Per my back alley law degree, I don’t think he would get in any trouble for owning the thing. PRS (the guitar shop) would get in trouble for selling it (assuming they didn’t just gift it to him).
Just another reason for me to love Skillet!!!
You don't know what you have until it's gone .... for example, toilet paper.
NOT STICKING TO SPORTS. The story of air traffic controllers, America's most stressful desk job...
A tip o' the hat to fellow Mod 3M.
I am not very smart, but I recognize that I'm not very smart. --- W.W. Hayes
The buckeye guitar guy (Seth Morrison) is from my town. I went to school with his older brother.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
Are they from Ohio?
Urban Meyer, undefeated (7-0) VS ttun | Ryan Day, undefeated (2-0) vs ttun
*As always, In (Urban) Ryan Day I Trust! There is a plan, even if we cannot see it right now!
God, Family, Guns, Country, and Sports!
Can we sign two walk-ons named A.J. and B.J.? I need to see an A.J., B.J., C.J., D.J., E.J., lineup on the court this year. IIRC, we had someone named AJ Harris who transferred out, right? Sigh... what could have been.
AJ Harris would’ve graduated last year had he not transferred, so not sure if it would’ve worked anyways :/
Hmm maybe Alonzo's middle name starts with J?
I see TBSUN is ranked #9 and only have one player on any of the lists. Well, at least they still have softball and baseball.
69 in 18
Sucks seeing Micah Potter's name on the Impact Transfers list.
