I'm going to the Army vs. UM game this year. First time ever in the toilet bowl for me my old man and my son and what better first visit than one where a service academy has a real shot to win over the weasels? I know Michigan's win probability is like 95.5% but for some reason, the tickets are still mad expensive...
Do the country a favor, civic pride if you will, and bring home with you an Army W.
You win with people.
I only live 20 minutes from the stadium and my father is a die-hard UM fan...always has been-even when we lived in Ohio. He's never been there and I also have a goal of seeing every Big Ten stadium with my son before he turns 18.
Should be a fun game. Make sure to wear your buckeye gear and troll those nerds.
There shouldn't be one game against preseason competition that we don't win by 21 or more points.
Wow, I didnt even know Tommy Stevens transferred from PSU. They've had a bit of a rough offseason. No sympathy for them.
TTUN would be stupid for overlooking Army.
Please fix our run defense. For the love of God and Woody.

Yea not sure how Penn state Let him transfer. In my opinion he is better than the kid they are going to start.

From listening to national college football podcasts and media, it seems that the general consensus is that Stevens never really seized the job despite his edge in experience and being widely expected to start. Clifford didn't definitively beat Stevens out either...but it was close enough of a tie that PSU probably would have ended up going with the younger, higher ceiling guy.
The short version is Stevens had been injured for at least a year with lingering foot issue. He didn't do anything last spring, was limited/out most of the fall, and had surgery in December so he was out again this spring. Clifford took advantage of the opening and made it close enough that it was hardly a foregone conclusion Stevens would be the guy. He's a fifth year kid, and wants a shot to play, and there was no guarantee that would be at PSU.

Make that Cincy QB throw the ball. Shut down his running. TOSU LBs step it up big time.

I can't think of anything worse than facing a triple-option offense in the early stages of a college football season.
Agreed. I legitimately don't understand why teams keep scheduling them as OOC games (and this isn't a slam on TTUN, Ohio State is as guilty of this as anybody).
Best case scenario you survive the game with no injuries despite the endless cut blocks. But even so, you've wasted practice time preparing your defense for a quirky offense. Or it's close but you win, and then you basically write off the game as "it was close, but quirky offense, not really a reasonable test for our defense, etc, etc".
Also, for whatever it's worth, Ohio State's two games against Navy (2009 and 2014) were both immediately followed by losses at home. Maybe a coincidence, maybe not, you be the judge.
I think you're right, those losses had a lot to do with all the time spent prepping for, and dealing with the triple option the week before
I like the support that those games give the service academies, but you are right. I hate scheduling them. Wasted week, in my opinion.
Elliott dots the eye, on this national championship win.
GO ARMY !!!!!
F that shit, GO NAVY!! (Oh wait, sorry, my reflexes kicked in)

m GO BLOW!!!
I’m envisioning a repeat of the Oklahoma game where Army closes the deal this year!
All 3 of TTUNs non conference opponents last year went to bowl games. They have it pretty rough this year.
Yeah - about that. Not feeling any sympathy. Would love to see one of those teams (if not more) take them down. Army at the start would make me so very, very happy.
Especially since I live here in Mordor for the time being.

Cincinnati really just needs to be a business game. The Buckeyes, by all accounts, will out man them all over the field. They simply need to take care of their business, don't overlook UC because they WILL throw everything they have at the Buckeyes. Our guys need to buckle down, take care of business, and prove who the dominant team in the BUCKEYE state is.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I think UC will make that game interesting in the first half (and Fickell will be coaching his ass off since he has a chip on his shoulder for this one) but OSU will pull away in the second half due to sheer talent difference.
No question this is a game Luke Fickell has had circled forever, and I love coach Fick, but I genuinely hope Ryan Day uses this game to make a statement and the team goes out looking to hit them hard and prove a point.
But yeah, UC and coach Fick are going to put it all out there and really try and go shot for shot with the Buckeyes, they'll play with nothing to lose and look to punch us in the mouth.
UC will have a better team this year but a worse record in the end. Youth and depth are a killer.
UC opens with UCLA and Fickel will use the entire playbook so there should be no surprises when they head to Columbus. I think it will be a comfortable OSU win but closer from play-to-play than the final score may indicate.
I think OSU will win. But I don't trust our players not to sleepwalk through that matchup whereas Fickell will have his team chomping at the bit. So it might be more of a challenge than expected and it will be a test for Day on whether or not he can keep his team focused (something Meyer was beginning to struggle with in recent years).
Army is no joke. They will limit ttun's offensive changes by chewing up the clock when they are on offense. Plus their jersey's look a lot like Appalachain states.
With the Army’s and Navy’s, it’s not so much the winning/losing of that game, but the side effects. Leading up to that game, likely including summer practice, you’re preparing to defend the option. Then your DL gets chop blocked all day. And they’re smaller and less athletic than you, but you’re going to get a physical game for 60 minutes.
Pitt over PSU would be lovely.
Do you hear me, Mark May?
Mark May not hear you Hovenaut.
Anyone know what is to become of Ga Tech??? New coaches, but will they bring a new offensive scheme?
Anyone have any insight?
The offense will no longer be triple option. There is some crazy shit going on down there, I read an article on ESPN about the coaching and culture change. A lot of hype new age and digital platform and social media presence to the point of being excessive, To sum it up
All Glory is Fleeting
Everyone knows that your social media presence is what counts.
Army will beat Michigan, Harbaugh loses to The Purple One a few weeks later and Day puts the final nail in Jimmy's overrated coaching coffin on November 30.
To err is human. Really sucking requires having yellow stripes on your helmet.
Go ARMY! Beat MichAgain!
15-1 is SWEET!
Good luck with that one, Michigan.
Yeah, right. The only way I root for TTUN is they play ISIS.
"Be a first rate version of yourself, not a second rate version of someone else." - Judy Garland
Army will, at the very least, keep it close, if it not win the damn thing outright. TTUN better be thanking their lucky stars that they have a bye the following week, because after that, it's @Wisconsin.

All it takes is one Appalachian State to break a program. Just ask our friends to the north who are now styling themselves as a "basketball school" lol.
