USA having the better of the chances so far, but still 0-0
"porque las estirpes condenadas a cien años de soledad no tenían una segunda oportunidad sobre la tierra."
I realize Chicago is 28% Hispanic, but it’s just astonishing and bewildering how much the Mexican fans outnumber the Americans. It feels like the game is being played in Azteca right now.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
As someone said on a USMNT forum I frequent, Americans may outnumber Mexicans/Mexican Americans in America, but if 100% of the Mexican diaspora cares and shows up, that's going to overwhelm the 10% of Americans who care and show up.
Bewildering was probably the wrong word from me. It’s not confusing at all; Mexican fans always show up and show out. Certainly more than Americans.
Love the intensity, I feel like the two teams are about to come to blows at any second. Feels like a proper rivalry game from the 2000s.
Good half. Feel like we had better chances but Mexico has the better team.
Read my entire screen name....
Pretty painful. Two teams turning it over and then the other team not being able to finish. Jordan Morris never seems to do anything. Much rather see them bring Tyler Boyd on.
Having watched the USWNT this morning crazy how much better in the final third and creative the women's squad is vs the mens.
Hopefully the USA can bury one of these chances and get out of here 1-0..
Pulisic is head and shoulders above everyone in this game. That has been the most positive takeaway
How can you tell? Does he have way more goals than everyone else?
Lifetime vs. UM: L 9-1, C 8-0, T 5-0
Ohio State University President Jim Tressel
He is clearly the best player on the field. His creativity with the ball and his runs are excellent. His speed is there and he plays good defense as well. A positive for the USMNT indeed.
Maybe someone in here knows the answer to this, but I thought FIFA threatened to ban Mexico from a future World Cup if the fans continued to chant a certain word as the opponents gk takes a goal kick. Is that no longer the case?
The referee is dangerously close to losing control of this match.
Lol he's already lost control. When guys are jumping on top of other guys and chokeholding them and you don't show even a yellow you've lost control
Yep. Since early...
Incredible stops by Mexico there.
Who is broadcasting the game?
Too many consecutive giveaways for us. Playing with fire
WTFO! I was taught the ref is part of the field. Why does Mexico get the ball back after a silly pass?!?!
Recent rule change
Mexico has the ref in their hand.
What in the world does Mexico have to do to get a foul?
I don’t know but feel like his whistle will decide the game. Thinking a pk.
Nice run. Good play start to finish by Mexico there. USA just absent this half.
Frickin Bradley out of position....as always. That dude is a joke.
I’m personally not a Bradley fan, but 20-30% possession, no offense, and no answer for Mexico’s pressure is probably more of the problem tonight.
You're right. Our offense doesn't seem real coherent. Seems like we're just hoping to get a breakaway and out run the Mexican defenders. But on their goal Bradley chased right and Mexico passed back to middle and he couldn't recover in time. The goal was on him. I'm watching on Univsion- no FS1 for me. The Mexican guys announcers were all over it. It was sort of funny to hear them calling him out. I wish my Spanish was better...
I’m just hoping for a pk at this point.
Bradley is trash now. Old and slow.
Ako ne možete postavljati bez gluposti ... nemojte
Ako vièeš na suce, ti si šupak
Yep and has been for at least 5 years or so. I will admit that he has looked a little more productive under Berholter but if Bradley is truly one of the best midfield players we have in this country then we are complete trash. Personal I refuse to invest in any us team that he is on.
Berhalter's substitutions have been ass, my dude
Crap subs from Berhalter, Bradley should have been retired years ago, Zardes and Altidore can’t do their jobs. Shameful 2nd half after such an inspiring 1st.
Waited too long to get Altidore out of there for sure. I'm really hoping we have some guys coming that are better than Altidore and Bradley.
For the life of me, I don’t know how we don’t.
We have better guys, they're either injured or Berhalter doesn't rate them because he's an idiot
Dang. Mexico has every answer tonight.
Wow. Surprised that was a no call at the top of the box.
The US team decided to sleepwalk through the 2nd half. I know I sat here praying that anyone with the ball would get it to Pulisic
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster...
That was fun. Better chances for US early but the better team won. I still think our US team is growing. I’d rather win but I’ll take it.
Painful till the end... Zero USA creativity, subbing defense when we needed offense made no sense either. Altidore set the tone with a wide open shot that he couldn't even put on frame... As good as Pulisic is at times he still vanishes from time to time. Pretty much a no show in the second half...
The era of Pulisic, McKennie, Sargent, Weah, Adams, and Pomykal can’t get here soon enough. Hopefully Berhalter will be gone before he ruins it.
I hope Michael Bradley never plays another game for USA
How bad can he be? Didn't Mexico only score 1 goal? That's pretty good isn't it?
Yeah it was 1-0 but he had an atrocious turnover when it looked like we could get a good counter attack. He’s also 31 years old and won’t make the 2022 World Cup roster if we even qualify
We won’t qualify if he is on the field
Agree, he needs to retire. Isn't capable of making hustle plays, and doesn't contribute anything unexpected that you sometimes get with a crafty vet. Altidore should go, too, but need a more dangerous replacement than Zardes.
There's this guy called Tim Weah who has Zardes' athleticism but is smarter and more talented. He wasn't called in by Berhalter. Neither was Josh Sargent.
Berhalter squandered a winnable game with an inflexible plan.
Tata Martino's Mexico adjusted to our gameplan within the first half and learned to respond to our pressing, and then in the second half they realized Bradley is a turnstile in midfield. And yet even when everything was going to shit Berhalter doesn't change the gameplan--in fact his second half substitutions were exactly the same as his substitutions against Jamaica last game--a game we were leading.
There's that old phrase "you can't fix stupid," well I say the thing you really can't fix in a coach is inflexibility. Berhalter refuses to adjust to circumstances even when it's painfully obvious that his A plan isn't working.
Who or how is the head coach selected for the team?
Well, someone has to do it.
