Skull Session: Jeff Hafley and Brian Hartline Are Top Recruiters, Gunnar Hoak Preps By Himself, and the Shea Patterson Tweet Was Fake

Of course that tweet was fake. Absolutely amazing how many gullible commenters here thought that was real. Happens to one of our players, immediately labeled as fake.  It’s a scUM kid, so it’s real. Who would tweet something like that?  Do some of you actually look back and see how silly this was to believe it was true?

HS
Monclovabuckeye's picture

So Patterson didn't compose the tweet, but you know he thinks that way.

I don't give a damn for the whole state of Xichigan.

HS
Buckeyeincleveburg's picture

His actual tweet included the words Go Blue, so yeah.

Actually there are people that have big enough egos and are insecure enough to use false identities for this type of nonsense. The technology makes it easy. Just another reason why Twitter is mostly noise and not signal.

As a regular user of Twitter i find it to be a great tool. It’s mostly information, not noise, from the accounts i follow.

Funny thing is, Patterson's tweet helps explain the dominance of Buckeye football over TTUN. Our guys are in the WHAC getting better each and every day and Patterson is out sharpening his golf game...

I wanted that Patterson tweet to be real so bad. I was skeptical but michigan fans weren't denying it, they were blaming it on Shea's dad. Apparently that would not have been out of character for him. It was actually michigan fans that had me believing it for a second.

I feel like everyone complains about athletes giving bland boring answers, but then freaks the f out when anyone does otherwise. I hope he DOES say something like that and then our guys respond by guaranteeing a win or something. Sports is just entertainment after all.

100% spot on with the whole QB competition. Identify the guy, get him those ever so valuable first team reps, and make sure the guys behind him are as ready as possible just in case. Our eggs need to be in the Justin fields basket.

Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.

The feral pig problem. Why wouldn’t they encourage sport hunting to help kill off feral hogs? Then again we are talking about the government. Is there anything bureaucrats haven’t screwed up? The same brainiacs that were herding wild horses with helicopters out west. For some reason they didn’t want them ending up in Mexican slaughter houses. In a crisis does it really matter where they  end up? Grazing or on a dinner plate, as long as both are done humanely I’m ok with it.

At this point in time I doubt Harbaugh cares how he gets his program attention. Much better than his tree climbing, sleep overs and milk drinking.

I have officially hit rock bottom. this off season is officially worse than the one following 31-0. Which officially bottomed out when it was announced there would be no QB competition in the spring.

MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS

HS
mr.green's picture

From the pig article:

Once they’re out in the open, feral hogs simply breed too fast for hunters to keep up. To wipe out a population, you need to shoot 60 to 80 percent a year, says Mayer, but recreational hunting can only cut their numbers by about a quarter.

HS
nm_buck's picture

The damage they do is real. There aren't enough recreational hunters... in some states there are open seasons all year long but it still isn't enough. Going out a weekend a month won't cut it. People have jobs and families... not enough free time. In states where there are huge problems, they should incentivize... put a bounty on ferals to motivate people to spend more time on it. It's always going to cost money to get a handle on these types of problems, but property owners are motivated to invest, and local governments could offer some form of tax credits to offset. They could turn a negative into a positive by using the meat... which is delicious by the way... to help feed the area's less-fortunate.  I was helping a buddy of mine on his parents' ranch in NE NM. We were fixing water lines feeding a network of drinkers. That weekend his brother killed a feral boar and brought it back to the house. Filthy, stinky, loaded with ticks... skinned and butchered it. His mom started cooking some of the meat in her oven... at first it smelled just awful... came back later that afternoon and the entire house smelled amazing... that meat was top quality. Would make for a hell of a tailgate...

This isn't a new problem. Back in 2011 I was in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl (it happened, I saw it) I was talking to a bunch of guys from Arkansas that told me they have a cabin on their property and would let me and my friends stay there, they would cook for us, pay our gas money, and give us each a couple hundred dollars to come hunt hogs on their property. They said just about everyone does it. Some will even take you up in a helicopter to hunt. I never found the time to go but I had a buddy do a trip like that last year. Said the guy paid him $500 plus $50 per hog plus food and lodging to go to Alabama and hunt.

HS
D-Train's picture

Putting a bounty on them won't help. Then people start breeding them to kill them for the bounty which just exacerbates the original problem. There was a similar issue with cobras in India I think it was and people just bred them to game the system.

HS
ShaneFalco's picture

Back in the 70s the Farm Bureau in Ohio had a bounty program for varmints where they would pay you IIRC an amount similar to what pissed off Bugs Bunny.

The feral pig population here in deep south Texas is insane. There is pretty much a year round season on them. I see a lot of dead ones hit by cars along the side of the road.

Hafley and Hartline are top notch recruiters and I suspect bu the end of this season they will be recognized as top notch assistants.

HS
iowabuckeyes's picture

So they both get full credit for Cam Martinez? Why? Because they’re not sure which side of the ball he’ll end up on? And wasn’t Luke Wypler committed before Hafley was hired?

The fact that there are limestone caves under Vietnam is very surprising to me, but man do those look and sound cool and I am no cave enthusiast by any stretch.

I had to look at the actual list of recruiters to see who was ahead of Hartline. Hard to argue with Brian's success, but the A&M guy had a pretty good haul also. And that guy has even more name recognition I would guess, as it is Dameyune Craig the former Auburn qb. He reeled in the #2 wideout, plus a couple of other big time receivers and even is credited with an offensive lineman as well. I will take our guy, but Craig is no slouch it seems.

Feral hogs are a big problem and I don't think there is enough tannerite to get rid of them all.  Rural counties have been offering $5 for every set of ears and the numbers still increase. If the hogs are over 200 pounds they are diseased beyond use.

I never believed there would be a competition even if Martell and Baldwin had stayed. There had to be promises made to get Fields in the first place. Hoak will be a huge backup and ready to take over if Fields can’t get it done.

Loved seeing Tate get some Summer League action. Hopefully he can make some headway/at least get a 2-way contract in a very good & very young Nuggets squad. He's certainly athletic enough, and with the right help in the G-League you never know. Fingers crossed for my guy! God I wanted that Patterson tweet to be real, would've been beyond delicious. Don't sleep on Hafley's recruiting as well, he's had a hell of a haul already and can't wait to see what him and Hartline do with a changing OSU team.
