" ... poor man wanna be rich, rich man wanna be king, and a king ain't satisfied 'til he rules everything ..." - The Boss
2 1sts, Sexton and clearing out 75 million in cap space after one year is a pretty good haul, better than what Miami or NY could offer.
what happens when Westbrook demands a trade in December?
good lord no.
Westbrook is washed and look at all those bad expiring contracts the cavs would give up.
If they trade those for even more long term bad contracts they're the ones who need 1st round picks in return to sweeten the deal, not the other way around.
No way does this happen.
Great trade for OKC though ha
You don't think Westbrook and Love could compete for the East/Finals?
No. Westbrook and George could not even win one round with the Thunder. And they had a better roster then the Cavs.
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
Taking on Westbrook and his salary would cripple the Cavs for years. That contract is toxic
What’s more toxic? Westbrook or his contract?
The Future is Bright at Ohio State
The short answer in no. The long answer is awe hell nah. This would be terrible. The cavs need to build through the draft. Trading thompson yes, jr smith yes, but you get draft picks in return, not other bad contracts. Heck they should trade Kevin Love at the deadline of they can get a middle of the 1st round pick for him. If the cave draft well, the next 2 years, and with Beiline as coach they could do something pretty awesome. But they are nowhere near ready,
Successful people do what they have to, whether they feel like it or not
No-on Westbrook- The contract alone says why.
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
You don't think we should give KLove a chance at a title with his former college teammate and a legit center so he can play PF?
Westbrook and Kevin Love are on the downside of their careers. Can’t stay healthy. Westbrook and Love would never win anything together.
Cavs need to stay the course and rebuild.
That wouldn’t put you over the top. Westbrook hasn’t gotten his team anywhere. So essentially you are a first or second round playoff team with no draft picks.I do t get the logic. Set your team back 5 years to get bounced in second round of playoffs at best.
Nope. I’d rather see the Cavs move their expiring contracts as well as send Love to a contender for picks and perhaps a bad contract, as long as it will expire in a few years.
Fields of Dreams
I’d do whatever it takes to get big Steve Adams.
What has Westbrook ever done to demonstrate he can lead a team to the promised land? Because that's what you would be asking him to do. And as someone else said, would cripple (and maybe kill) the Cavaliers for years to come. Sheesh.
Ako ne možete postavljati bez gluposti ... nemojte
Ako vièeš na suce, ti si šupak
Hell no! Let all those 1 year deals expire. Trade Love by the deadline. Build through the draft. No way take on Westbrook contract.....
I totally agree that the Cavs should go for it...oh, wait...I thought that you were talking about replacing the owner. Never mind...
I thought he was going to suggest tanking and going for that top pick.
Get dumped then
Nahh. A trade like that would just make them a treadmill team
Not this trade idea. All of the expiring contracts (Smith, Henson, Delly, Knight, and Clarkson) except for Tristan for Westbrook and Adams. No Sexton. Don’t have to throw in any draft picks, Cavs are doing them enough of a favor taking on those contracts. There won’t be any free agents as good as Russ or Adams next summer. Thompson’s contract comes off next summer and Adams’s the summer after that. Go for it. 3 guard rotation of Russ, Garland, and Sexton. 3 3’s with Cedi, Windler, and Porter Jr. A bunch of big guys led by Love and Nance. Russ becomes a sixth man in two years.
I follow the belief that a Pro team should be either awful/really young or a legit title contender. A Westbrook/Love window, if it would be even open at all, closes in a couple of years. Losing in the EC Semi's does nothing for me.
This. Build up your stack of chips until you are ready to go all in. Like you said, being a middle of the playoffs team, w/ no real shot at winning the whole shebang is a bad place to be.
I agree, I just think Westbrook and Love next year would be a legit contender. There aren't any "Big 3s" to compete with. But the Cavs should either do a trade like this or trade Kevin Love to maybe Portland if rebuilding.
Trade Love and keep rebuilding.
Giving up your expiring cap space AND giving up the draft picks is an insane idea. Even if the Cavs aren't a realistic threat to sign elite free agents, the space can allow them to take on bad contracts + picks in trades.
I don't know why the Thunder would tear it down, to be honest. It's not like they got utter garbage back in the trade.
The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.
If you could figure out a way to do it without giving up draft picks then why not. Westbrook is only 30 so he'd still be young at the end of the deal and the other 2 guys are only locked in for 2 years... and all three of them would be easy to trade if needed..
Love, Grant, Adams, Westbrook and co would be one of the better starting fives in the Eastern conference.
The whole reason OKC wants to move Westbrook is because they want to not pay lux tax. You may be able to swing a deal with none or like one draft pick..... NO WAY would I give up multiple draft picks though..
“Megadeth >>> Metallica” - Alum 2019. I couldn’t agree more.
Grant just got dealt to the Nuggets.... yet another West team that's even deeper now..
