College Football Playoff games are Fiesta and Peach this year. So we'll be heading to Atlanta or Glendale..
I like your optimism, Tcm1968. Why not shoot for the stars?
When you think about it, we were one dreadful performance against a middling B1G West team (again!) from earning a playoff berth last season. I am thoroughly convinced we have the talent to run the table this season - assuming the defensive coaches can turn things around scheme-wise this year -

That's how I feel too. If the defense improves as it should and we have a little luck, I think we can run the table against our schedule. That should put us in the playoff, probably against Alabama or Clemson in the semifinal.
The only reason Clemson makes it is because their conference is a joke right now. They lost the whole d line. It's not going to be easy to replace 4 draft picks up front.
Please not ATL. Where is the title game?

I heard every Clemson player gets a benz if they make it. Any truth to those rumors?
Only if they trade in the one they got upon committing.
Saban is supplying the Benz from his dealership for Dabo and Clemson.
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
I’m saying we face off against Bama in the Peach bowl in our first opponent in the CFP. No one is really expecting us to pick off where we left off with Meyer stepping down.
With the off season moves, coaching additions, and barring any injuries we should be in the thick of things again this year. Every where I’ve read and heard does sound like Day has the “it” factor and the chops to be a HC. Can’t wait for the season to start
I am a Michigan booster bud....just spent $182 bucks at Wal-Mart this morning.
I like it but I just have a feeling Alabama will miss their first CFP this year. It's going to happen sooner or later so it might as well be this year. Georgia is the next obvious pick with and outside chance of it being LSU.
I could see it honestly too but with Tua vs Fromm I’ll take Tua, just don’t see Fromm as better but again Georgia had them last year beat until the dumbest punt fake ever put them right back into the game.
Honestly a Georgia vs OSU Peach Bowl be cool with me too.
why give them home field? Rather play in Phoenix

Just guessing off of rankings, in this scenario Georgia being a1/2 seed with us a 3/4 now if we run the table correct a Phoenix site would be the destination.
I don’t see a SEC team going through undefeated this year or Clemson either. Last year was a real outlier with so many undefeated sat the end of the regular season and championship weekend.
Tua in a clean pocket, I agree. He struggles when he gets hit and there's no Hurts waiting on the sidelines this season.
It would be cool to play LSU in the CFP. The transfer bowl with Burrow against Fields.

Here is how I think it plays out:
Buckeye defense jells quickly and pitches shutouts in the first 5 games. Michigan State is the first to score on the Bucks with a 61 yard field goal, off the uprights and through, as time expires. Rutgers is the only other team to score on the Bucks, putting up 14 points in a 70-14 loss. Both TD's come on trick plays - a fumble rooskie, and Statue of Liberty play.
Justin Fields leads the Bucks to a 7-0 record, racking up 1,200 rushing yards to go along with 3,100 passing yards and 35 TD's. He gets a very bad case of the flu, causing him to miss 2 games, during which time he gets Wally Pip'd by Chris Chugonov who promptly finishes the regular season 5-0 rushing for 11 yards but throwing for 2,617 yards and 33 TD's. Late in the um game, with the Bucks ahead 77-0, his turf toe makes it impossible for him to continue. Walk-on QB Danny (9mm) Vanatsky runs out the clock, but not before leading the Bucks to a final drive field goal to make the score 80-0.
With Fields back under center, the Bucks face Illinois in the B1G championship game. Fields is so excited to be back, Day can't get him off the field so he ends up playing both ways in a 42-0 victory. In order to keep from running up the score and protecting Fields, Day has the Bucks take a knee for all 7 of their second half possessions and then punt on 4th down. The 7 second half punts equal the total number of times the Bucks have punted all year.
The Bucks, ranked 12th prior to the B1G championship game, jump all the way to 4th in the standings, and a playoff berth. THE Bucks were ranked behind 9 SEC teams, OK, and Clemson. The final standing are #1 AL, #2 GA, #3 Clemson, #4 OSU.
Bucks run the table and are NC!
I appreciate your creativity. But I think it's a safe bet that if we were to be unlucky enough to see BOTH Fields and Chugunov go down this year Gunnar Hoak would likely be the third QB off the bench over Vanatsky.

You have MSU and Rutgers as the teams who score on the Buckeyes? What a grotesque insult to Cincinnati..
The funniest thing about that post--which I get was written entirely in jest--is he has Ohio State 12th nationally going into the B1G CCG before vaulting to 4th.
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke
Pretty much exactly how I see it.
I have a lot of faith in this year’s Buckeyes, and only one question matters: healthy Justin Fields = playoffs. Injured Fields? Don’t really want to think about it.
Glendale as the 3 seed vs Bama. Squeak one out to go on to face Clemson in the Natty. 32-0 Buckeyes, Trevor Lawrence leaves game at halftime and enters draft asap
So you're saying the NFL will change its rule and although true sophomores to enter the draft?
He'll petition for it, or go into exile for a year
Apparently Iowa has never heard of the NFL Petition Portal.
Don’t think Clemson makes the playoff this year. Think A&M gets them early with all the new starters on D then they get picked off once more.
If I’m being honest.... Rose bowl vs Oregon. And wipe the floor with them.
1. Clemson (13-0) vs 4. (12-1)Alabama
2. Georgia (13-0) vs 3. (12-1) Texas
Clemson vs Georgia. Georgia wins
I'm thinking Rose vs Oregon this year as a prelude to a playoff run next season.
Pigskins & Porkrinds
OSU, Bama, Georgia, Clemson, Oklahoma are fighting for four spots. If this isnt your prediction you dont know much about this coming season.
A Bama/UGA combo requires both going 12-1. That means Kirby has to finally beat Saban or go 12-0 w/ a brutal schedule. Odds are they will drop a game against ND or in a b2b stretch @AUB and vs. A&M. I don't think we see another 2017 Bama situation, especially in the SEC East this year.
OU had 4 games decided by a FG or less last year, and I really don't see how their 2019 team will not be worse w/o Murray. I think multiple losses is just if not more likely than 12-1.
I wouldn't think it crazy to predict a 12-1 Utah/Washinton or an 11-1 ND in the #4 slot.
Not sure anything less than undefeated gets ND any consideration for the playoff. Especially after last season's results.
If everyone else has 2-losses, which is usually the case, then why wouldn’t they be #4? If ND beats UGA and finishes 11-1, they would be in unless a B12 or P12 goes 12-1. I don’t think it’s likely, but it’s not a stupid playoff pick. The UGA game is in September, and UGA has literally zero experience at WR/TE.
Because you had Notre Dame as one of the top 5 teams having a chance to get in last year, right?
ND wasn’t a top 5 team. There may be an outside team that makes it but nobody else can win the title, and that’s being generous to Oklahoma
I see us losing 1 game. Now I don't know to whom but I do see whichever one it is it'll be a competitive enough lose as to NOT keep us out the playoff like the last few recent losses...
I would love to see Ohio State in the Peach mainly because I work for Chick-fil-A and would be able to get free tickets.
You can feed a bobcat all the chili it wants. That don't mean it's going to crap out diamonds.
2 seed, beat Alabama, then beat Clemson for NC.
Lifetime vs. UM: L 8-1, C 7-0, T 4-0
1. Bama 13-0
2. tOSU 13-0
3. Clemson 12-1
4. Utah 12-1
Phill Steele has scUM in the playoff , Nebraska in the Rose and TOSU Playing FSU in the citrus bowl. While I would love to beat the snot out of any ACC team right now, I would venture to say no one here would consider the Citrus bowl win a successful “enough” season. If I were to get a dream scenario I would take Texas in the first round playoff followed by a blowout win over Clemson for the Natty. Alabama has it’s worse season ever with 4 losses and Saban retires to take the NCAA commissioner in waiting spot. Dabo takes the Alabama job and Clemson falls back into irrelevancy.

Too early for me to read the tea leaves. But I'll predict that it'll be better than the bowl U of M goes to.

Tyrion: A wedding.
We go undefeated and make the Fiesta Bowl as the four seed vs. #1 Clemson and win 34-31, then beat Georgia--who repeat history by beating Oklahoma in OT in the Peach Bowl--in the National Championship 42-28.
Given our schedule--whether we like it or not--the only way OSU makes the playoff is by running the table, and even so, we make the playoff as a four seed behind three one-loss teams.
I think winning the B1G should be the goal at this point. I know we're thinking playoffs or bust, but there's a ton of unknowns.
This might be the 1 year where "just getting to the Rose" (which is a sentiment I detest because I happen to believe playing in the Rose Bowl still matters) would be a solid accomplishment, however I think the talent is there to end up in the playoff.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
The rankings won't show it because the SEC rules preseason rankings that then determine most of SOS the rest of the season...but we have a REALLY tough schedule this year through the Big Ten.
We get out with one loss or less we are in the playoffs against probably Clemson or Bama. Whether we can beat either of those teams depends entirely on if our defense improves back to what it should be. If they play like the Bullets then we can, but both of those teams are going to be awesome. Clemson's offense will be something to behold.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
If not the playoffs, then a Rose Bowl game vs Oregon/Washington or a Cotton Bowl matchup with a team like Georgia or Texas.
