Fields is for sure under the microscope, but he’s got the players and coaches around him to step into his role and get the job done. So ready for football!

Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.

Maybe not so much “ someone gaining” as another particular team not holding up their end of the bargain.

Still not giving a damn for the whole state of Michigan.

The definition of rivalry: competition for the same objective or for superiority in the same field.

It really doesn't meet the definition of rivalry for anyone who hasn't hit college yet because Michigan hasn't met the "competition for superiority" qualification in almost two decades.

To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.

We are still behind in wins. About 10 more to catch up I believe. We must catch and surpass them by a lot.

HS
milhouse4588's picture

Except we aren't behind if you compare from when the game became modern football. Yes they had a streak in the very beginning but that wasn't football at all.

To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.

Brian Lewerke? You know Fields did complete one Haskins like throw. The one where he just sort of flung it about 50 yards, right in the bread basket.

Fields should be ready. I have faith in Ryan Day. He had to convince Meyer to sign Chris Olave. His first td meant a lot to me. As I had spent a whole lotta money getting the family together for last years  “Game”. Although I’m usually nervous till our games are officially over, he put me at ease till mcCall’s fumble right before the half. Made my sons day after he flew in from Washington state. We had 2 thanksgivings also. Made a turkey on Thursday and Friday when my son flew in. Forgot how fun it is to celebrate with total strangers in the stands. For the first time ever I almost felt bad for the ttun fans that paid big bucks for AA front row seats, quite a few of them btw. Almost, then I just think back to the cooper years. I never once thought we never had a chance in the “Game” till this year. OSU really looked bad at times this year. I mean our D gave up over 30 plays of 30+ yards, they finally had their QB, wasn’t looking good. After hanging out on campus Friday, confidence and excitement started building in me. Olave’s 2 early scores went a long way in paving the way for victory. So if Day really thinks Fields is that awesome I’m good.

Btw, I live in South Florida and the word is Martel is the likely game 1 starter for the canes.

MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS

HS
Buckfrombirth's picture

I understand almost feeling bad for TTUN fans. But whenever I get that urge, I remember back to after the '96 game and seeing a mom, dad, and two little kids (like 6-7 years old) standing just outside the rotunda waving M flags and heckling everyone as we walked out of that disaster. That fanbase has gotten every ounce of my disgust ever since, and I can't see it ever changing.

I survived Cooper, and I hate Tai Streets.

Fuck them all.  I can’t wait to crush their dreams in AA this year and look into their sullen faces as i laugh until i nearly cry and dance my way out of that cesspool of a stadium holding 8 fingers up high!!!

I paid my dues in the 90s. Fuck them all.

Martinez at Nebraska is the only quarterback on that list of matchups that I think is worth the hype. Lewerke is decent when he's healthy but he's rarely healthy. I just don't get the hype for Patterson. Not a single time in his college career has he played well against a top 10 team. Not once. Can we stop pretending he is anything more than mediocre?

As far as the not sticking to sports links, the Chick Fil A story is no surprise at all. The chicken is good, the fries are ok, but the customer service is second to none.

It would be very hard to top the kind of customer service (saving lives) discussed in the Chick Fil A article.  Wow.

Cool story about the Chinese Basketball Association. One of my favorite all time players is Stephon Marbury, and what he has been able to accomplish over there after an NBA career is wild. Reading about other guys who I had no idea went over to China is also interesting.

I saw the results of the 40 yards thing and wondered where Ginn was. Now I know, and whatever happened there the whole thing is pretty weak. I cannot believe that was on PPV.

Not sticking to sports:  Perhaps the oldest theory of humor, which dates back to Plato and other ancient Greek philosophers, posits that people find humor in, and laugh at, earlier versions of themselves and the misfortunes of others because of feeling superior.  That goes a long way explaining why Michigan jokes are so damn funny.

I read the McCord-McCarthy story on Rivals yesterday. I hope their friendship survives the Rivalry but I hope it doesn’t get in the way of the Rivalry; their careers and reputations and odds of never having to pay for a cocktail for the rest of their lives could very well be based on it.

I also couldn’t help but notice that if you use the backdrop as a neutral measuring tape, McCord’s at least three inches taller.

I can not imagine any competitive kid let a friendship get in the way of any competition. Even at the lowest level of games and competition, beating your friend is only second to beating your enemy. No need to be concerned there.

HS
MichiBuck12's picture

Is beating your friend really second to beating your enemy? I mean, I love beating people I don't like. But they're never gonna talk to me again anyway. If you beat a friend not only do you get bragging rights for the rest of your life, but you also avoid someone you see regularly having bragging rights over you for life. The stakes are much higher when you play against a friend.

Shea Patterson, I just don't get it. I watched *ichigan's 2019 HYPE video (just released) and it shows Shea...underthrowing almost every pass! Across the middle, screens, down the sidelines...he did not lead any receiver and hit them in stride. Then Mgoblowers went crazy over talking about him.

I also noticed that a lot of those passes were against Rutgers and zero against the OSU Buckeyes. I wonder why that was?

HS

I wonder if Ginn was concerned about the format? One on one is different than an elimination format and I would guess an elimination format would make it easier for one mistake to occur or simply being tired and losing. In one on one you can give it all and nopt worry about the next race.

Look, I do think Teddy is one of, if not the fastest player in the league, but you can't talk that talk and then ignore folks who call your challenge and pull out of a chance to prove it.

Maybe he's just saving them all from embarrassment.

Or saving himself from embarrassment. Teddy's getting a little long in the tooth at age 34 now.

I tried to think about how Patty Mahomes could know about Dwayne Haskins well enough to know his nickname, and nothing really clicked. I mean, he wasn't really recruited at the same time as Haskins, didn't grow up in the same part of the country and never played against him.

Or you know, could be that Twitter handle...

Happy Canada day folks! I might be letting the hype get to me, but I am giddy with excitement re: Justin Fields after watching the Elite 11 tape with him going head to head with arguably the best QB in the NCAA in Trevor Lawrence and getting the better of him. Chalk me up as a Fields optimist considering that and my underwhelmed-ness watching Shea Patterson. His passing is post-2012 Joe Flacco, and his running is okay, good not great, and benefited quite a bit form a weak Big Ten last year. Too many badly missed throws for my (trying my hardest to be objective) liking.
