Too bad Martell transferred... if he hadn't, our team would have a Nathan, a Tathan, and a Lathan!
It's comments like this that keep me coming back to 11W. (No sarcasm font. Seriously.)

This made me laugh harder than it should have :)

I don't think it hurts for recruiting his teammate!
Hmmm... Why the sadface?
Wow! Just Wow!
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
Read Lathan's column on why he chose Ohio State here...https://tucson.com/sports/highschool/lathan-ransom-this-tucson-kid-is-re...
He face-timed Ryan Day at 1 AM. He'll get used to Eastern Time soon enough.
I’m sure Coach Day didn’t mind too much!
Head north till you smell it, west until you step in it
And he said he was ready to recruit for the Buckeyes. I hope that means his teammate, Bijan.

Just read the article. Ransom is well-spoken, writes well and has his priorities locked in tight. If he wasn't one of your favorite recruits in this class, I highly recommend his commitment piece.
Class addition...reminds me of Master Teague's outlook and mindset. Couldn't ask for better character for the locker room to go with an insane skillset. Onto the next one!

His article was impressive, straight forward and composed!

If [Hafley] can do that in three weeks, imagine what he could do with me in three years.
I like this kid's swagger! I hope he proves himself right and continues the line of first round OSU DBs.
That's is a very well written piece by him. The caliber of the athletes we have been recruiting is almost as impressive as the talent they bring to the university. A well spoken, humble kid who understands the advantages he is being given make them even better players on the field and teammates in the locker room.
To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.
Miller and James are well spoken guys too. I’m proud of that.
That young man is quite articulate and really seems to have his priorities in the proper order. Very mature, measured demeanor, with above average writing skills which will serve him well now and into the future.
I'm very impressed.
Welcome Mr Lathan...welcome to Ohio & to Buckeye nation...
Without God, there is no Liberty...
I read to the end of the article and DANG, that kid has me ready to run through a brick wall right now! Thanks for the link.

That's a great article and a great view of an impressive young man. Thanks for the link.
Competing for a national championship every year? Shoot, don’t ask me twice.
You never lose to those pricks. Ever. Ever.
Good article and insight into a recruits thoughts. Very excited for him and the Buckeyes future. And Yes Lathan we're ready. Go Bucks!
You win with people.
Lathan's film is great. If you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend watching it. He has long strides covering the field and moves with vision and deceptive speed. Great pickup for Day.

Ryan Day putting together a hell of a class.Hopefully Bijan is next.
Welcome to the family, Lathan!

Floats like a Hooker, stings like a Tatum.
The soldier is my son. The school I gone to didn’t teach much grammar.
I'm just glad it doesn't sting like a Hooker.
Only a couple months back, I was one of those people who was concerned-but-not-panicked about the slow start for the 2020 class, but man-oh-man, the coaching staff has turned that around in the blink of an eye.
Beyond Ransom's signing being obvious great news, it tells us that Day (and company) are pretty darned good closers--they know what they want and they know how to get it. It's either that or they served up some of the most irresistible damned barbecue in the land at their June jamboree, and recruits just can't help coming back for second helpings.
All kidding aside, barring some sort of weird mass exodus via decommits, this class should only get better per the few remaining slots left on the board.
Meanwhile, looking at the big picture, this means that Day is 3-0 in more ways than one. That is, not only is he 1) 3-0 as an interim coach, he 2) has proven to be an extremely effective offensive coordinator at Ohio State, and now 2) he's proven himself to be a great recruiter.
It sure bodes well for what the future might hold for Buckeye fans.
I must admit after Urban retired, I thought losing Battle to BAMA, and potentially Paris Johnson was just a harbinger of a downward slide in national recruiting for the next few years.
Urban is a living legend, one of the three or four greatest coaches of all time, and certainly a hard act to follow. It doesn’t seem like coach Day is shying away from this!? In fact he seems to be embracing the challenge.
It impresses me what the recruits are already saying about a relatively unknown coach Day, and the defensive staff he has hired. Coach Hafley sounds like a home run hire.
i thought we were going to have to wait until the defense proved itself on the field this season before defensive recruiting caught up with the offensive recruiting.
Ii am not only impressed, but so happy I was wrong!
One of the best things about Urban was he was a closer for the ages!
Looks like Day was taking notes, Brooksie, on top of guys like Hartline and Hafley being natural-born leaders (and recruiters) as coaches.
My thoughts exactly, Beonx. In fact, I thought the recruiting efforts would remain slow and wouldn't take off until after it Day had already turned in a strong performance in the 2019 season, so I'm sorta gobsmacked that the class is almost complete by... f'ing mid July?!!!
And a damned fine class it is. Granted, depending on how the class rounds for the Buckeyes relative to other teams, we might drop a notch or two, but it's now a pretty solid bet that we'll finish somewhere in the top 5, and again, it was looking like we'd need a great season just to finish in the top 10.
One thing's for sure--Day not only has taken to heart Meyer's rule that you'd better make recruiting your #1 priority (it's the same with Saban, Swinney, and Smart), it's clear that he actually knows how to do it at the highest level.
That's especially reassuring, because a guy like Day could easily make the same mistake that so many Coordinators with the label "genius" next to their names have made after being promoted to Head Coaching jobs, i.e., "I can win with anybody, because my brilliance [on one side of the ball] will be enough for me to beat anybody."
Clearly, Day doesn't mind stepping into the much bigger shoes of responsibility that come with being a Head Coach, and as we're seeing per his hiring (and firing) of assistant coaches--and now with his stellar recruiting of players--those shoes seem to fit quite nicely.
Class is talented, balanced and fills positions of need. Well done.

Holy crap. Do we see a dynasty at THE OSU like ctyabama has been doing the last few years???
Omg, down vote me for too many errors. It's cryabama
Are you seriously concerned about DVs for a misspelling? I don't think anyone gives a s***.
I don't care about the misspellings, I just didn't have any idea what he was trying to say.
"We gotta go win this next game and make the State of Ohio proud!"-UFM
Why are we calling them cryabama? Are their tears of joy from dominating college football for the better part of a decade getting too obvious?
Great kid and family!
What a well written commitment piece, and the best part is that he committed on my birthday back in June! Happy birthday to me!
"I don't apologize for anything. When I make a mistake, I take the blame and go on from there." - Woody Hayes
Great add but was anyone surprised by his decision?
Harbaugh. I assume. And maybe not surprised, but perhaps a bit depressed.
Yep--if this is the year some misguided people think he's supposed to beat the Buckeyes, well, it didn't happen off the field with recruiting, and in case anybody's keeping count, he's 0-for-2 during the season against Ryan Day plus 0-for-1 during the off season.
Or is it 0-for-3 during the off season, since he also lost two of his defensive coaches to Day?
TTUN hasn't stopped Day's 30-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust magic yet, and it isn't about to happen in 2019. I just wonder how long it'll be before Harbaugh goes AWOL and we see his face plastered on the side of one of his milk cartoons.
Can't wait until Lathan hits the field for us. But am I the only one who noticed that 40 time. I watched his highlights above - and that kid looks a whole lot faster than a 4.67 40 would suggest.
Sure - sometimes there's a difference between "football speed" and track speed - but not that much difference. I mean - is that a typo - or perhaps just an old result? Certainly, those kids on the other teams weren't that incredibly slow?
Lathan looks at least a couple of tenths faster than a 4.67 in that highlight clip - much closer to flat-out elite speed.
Don't get me wrong - it doesn't dampen my enthusiasm one iota. It just kinda caught my attention -
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement. - Will Rogers
I agree, that was MY 40 time in 1990 with two other equally mediocre runs. I am 5'8" and certainly did not play power 5, yet he makes fantastic decisions EARLY! That my friends will change when you arrive at the point of attack just as much as unusual speed does!
Yeah - my 40 time was also a bit quicker than that - and I wasn't the fastest 40 on my (only somewhat above average) high school team. I certainly wasn't blowing past everyone else on the field like that when I was a HS safety. That's why it caught my attention. For that matter, we have a defensive end or two who run at least that fast. That time can't be right.
But more importantly, I really love this kid's ball hawking instincts, fierce tackling and all around fundamentals - at such an early age. I see big things on the horizon for this young man
The young man is impressive and his writing displays an active mind - who is aware of the good fortune of his circumstances. I feel like regarding his speed that even accounting for the level of talent around him someone did a poor job on the stopwatch!
I keep circling back to the statement about Hafley and wonder just how much of an impact we are about to see for our secondary!? I also am excited for the opportunity this likely means for the entire defense as Ransom probably saw an accumulation of Hafley's ability to dissect and teach attacking passing offenses and Mattison's ability to ingrain fundamentals. These will not be the ONLY parts of our defense this will impact!
