Urban Meyer could learn something from Calvin Murphy

Calvin Murphy was one of the 3Ms in his collegiate days and they could all light up the scoreboard.  Murphy, Mount, and of course Maravich.

I'll bet he is quite the braggart when it comes to sharing baton twirling stories, however!

Sonof’, do you remember this local CT legend? He was a few years after Murphy, and probably equally as modest. He was amazing in high school and went on to OU, choosing the Bobcats over the likes of Dean Smith and North Carolina and any other school in the country. Here’s some good articles on him. He was something else, before an injury ended his pro career before it even started.

I remember when he signed with OU.  Big news down there.  Nice find

Yes, although I unfortunately never saw him play.  He was a year behind me in high school and our schools competed in different leagues.  But, I can say with almost 100% assurance, if he had played against my high school he would have also torched my team for 50+—that is, unless we had opted for a stall—ball strategy, which is what we did against the best team in my league senior year.

He was a few or so years ahead of me, but, around the same as one brother and a few years behind two other brothers. None of them ever played against him, though. I did see him play twice, and some of those games were on tv, as well. I remember him banking long range jumpers with ease. He was quite the hype around there in those days, and there was always other good players about. Which town are you from? Monroe for me, and then lived in Trumbull and north end Bridgeport before moving to OH.
