Bring it, J.K. Dobbins.  Hoping he gets well over 1,000 yards, more like 1500+.

I would love to see El Guapo have a great year, too.

Tear up the SEC Joe Burrow.  See you in the playoffs against the Buckeyes.

Well, Stephen A. still has his job, and his take was that D. Haskins is a "running QB", so yeah sometimes you wonder what some people are looking at before they comment.

The latest of many examples of reporting based on headlines or stat-lines without having seen any games or done any analysis.  As others have said, as long as they string a few sentences together and get clicks, they can keep working.

Until BR buys a few AI algorithms and lets them start doing the reporting, as it would be basically the same thing.

Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.

Along those lines, Tarthan is first up when Miami and Florida do the first game. Aug 24. I’ll be watching.

I watched all of Burrow’s games that weren’t blacked out/not online, or a schedule conflict with our Buckeyes.

The media continues to lose credibility. All day I hear on the radio about a attack squirrel, lol. What morons, I mean it is Alabama. Lived In Pensacola for awhile, Bama was certainly a little backwards but couldn’t touch Mississippi with a 10’ pole. I use to call on a customer in Hattiesburg. Compared to the rest of the south, the wages in Mississippi were from the Stone Age. At least in my industry. That squirrel looked normal to me.

Burrow was my pick to start over Haskins. Burrow may not have put up numbers like Haskins but osu’s offense would have been fine. Always reminded me of a more athletic Craig Krenzel. Hopefully he has a nice senior season and we’ll be claiming QBU after he and fields are 1st rounders in consecutive drafts.

Have a great weekend w’s!

Fields’ and Burrow’s passing stats are similar: Fields was 27/39 for 328 yards, four TDs and no INTs; Burrow was 29/39 for 287 yards, two TDs and no INTs.

Honestly, I don’t think we can claim Joe Burrow. The whole “developed here” tagline being applied to players who played well elsewhere rings hollow; if UGA claimed Fields, we’d laugh our asses off  but somehow it works for us in reverse for a guy who threw for only 287 yards? Sure, Burrow graduated from Ohio State but if he plays in the NFL, that’s not the college that will be next to his name on the roster. I love seeing Joe excel but he need to accept he’s LSU’s now.

Burrow was in our program, training with our coaches for three years.  His draft profile is going to say LSU but you can bet the rent our coaches had a bigger hand in his development.

HS
Snake64's picture

Ugh... what?

If he has a markedly better season this year from last year then it's reasonable to assume that HIS IMPROVEMENT came under the coaching of LSU not OSU. He had mediocre numbers last season do we really want to take credit for that? If his numbers stay relatively the same then you can assume he learned all he knows from OSU but that's not necessarily a good thing.

HS
LandonTruckedCollins's picture

He never started at OSU so I don't know how you can really make the argument you are trying to make, but, his completion percentage actually went down at LSU versus the limited playing time he got at OSU.

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/joe-burrow-1.html

HS
Snake64's picture

If his numbers improve for his second season at LSU vs. his first season at LSU then the improvement came under LSU coaching staff not OSU hence why OSU can't take credit for his "improvement" if it's two years after he left the program. So my argument is pretty sound i don't understand what part you were confused with.

His completion percentage went down for two reasons.

1)He played sparingly in garbage time at OSU against bad teams (STAT PADDING)

2)His usage rate went up 10 times higher than his two seasons at OSU. Hence giving him a higher likelihood for incompletions and this is also against MUCH better competition as he played a whole season against SEC level teams not low rated B10 schools and non P5 opponents.

HS
Extramedium's picture

Yeah we will definitely take credit for him coming into LSU and turning them from a joke into a legit program upon arrival.  His numbers may have been pedestrian compared to Haskins, they were better than anything an LSU QB has put up in recent memory.  Keep in mind what he has to work with down there.

HS
Snake64's picture

UGH... What? How did he take them from a "Joke" to a legit program upon arrival? They were a 9,8,9 win team the year before he got there. He got them one extra win..... Nothing changed and they still got embarassed by Alabama at HOME.

Keep in mind what he has to work with down there are you kidding me? Do you not see what's on their roster from recruiting? WOW.

2017 #7 class in the country and light on wr that year

HS
Snake64's picture

Trying to take "credit" for anything Burrow does after he leaves the program is the definition of a "JOKE"

Under your logic Texas Tech deserves the credit for Baker Mayfield because he transferred from there then had success at Oklahoma

Under your logic Texas A&M deserves credit for Kyler Murray's success at Oklahoma as well.

Under your logic if Fields becames great here then Georgia deserves the credit for it because he played their first. Do you hear yourself?

Mary Richards Bowser has quite the backstory. A free black teacher, posing as a slave, and spying for the Union in the South? How amazing. If the letter mentioned at the end of the story turns out to be real, what a fitting addition to her story.

JK has the skills to close in on 2000 I am sure, but will the line be strong enough to block for it? And will a Master Teague or a DMC take enough touches to make 2k impossible? Time will tell, but seeing Dobbins make a run at it would be tremendous.

JK Dobbins is on the precipice of becoming the Buckeyes’ second three-time 1,000-yard rusher.

He would join Archie Griffin, who is currently the lone member of more than one club.

Considering multiple Buckeyes have rushed for over 1,000 yards twice but only Archie’s done it three times, shouldn’t that be the “more than two club?” The “more than one club” that Archie’s the sole member of is Heisman winners.

I"m pretty sure he meant that Archie is the sole member of both the three-time 1000 yard rushing club and the 2-time Heisman club.  Not that he is the sole member of THE more the one club, but "more than one club."

Archie is also the one and only member of the 31 consecutive 100+ yard games club, for all of DI football. I think # 2 on that list is Hershel Walker - - at a measley 24 or 25.

The other thing my brain just to is that Ezekiel Elliott couldn't even do it his final year, but he was also playing on a team with Braxton Miller, Michael Thomas, Curtis Samuel (good lord how did this team not win a natty), Curtis Samuel and J.T. Barrett who all needed touches, and he also only played 13 games when 14 or 15 should have been in play. And he still got 1,821.

my brain hurts trying to read this...don't know what the first sentence means, and seeing a double 'Curtis Samuel'-LOL

HS

I was going to say, we had Curtis Samuel and Curtis Samuel?

HS
AZ Buckeye13's picture

"(good lord how did this team not win a natty)

The CFP committee has to let you into the playoffs to give you the opportunity to win. Our name wasn't "Alabama" so we weren't allowed in after losing a game.

HS
Snake64's picture

Or don't lose at home to MSU while playing their BACKUP QB.. We didn't win the division because of it and didn't even have an opportunity to play for the BIG10 Championship. All that while looking lackluster all season while winning games until we TRUCKED TTUN the following weekend. Day late and dollar short.

HS
AZ Buckeye13's picture

Alabama lost in its season finale to Auburn, didn't win its division, but was put into the CFP along with SEC champ Georgia.

The MSU game was played in terrible weather and Zeke was in the hospital with a leg infection most of the week. If the CFP committee truly looks at games they could have seen the mitigating factors that contributed to the loss. We just don't get the benefit of the doubt like Alabama does.

All that aside, with the talent we had coming back from 2014 the Buckeyes should have been given the benefit of defending its title. Alabama didn't want any part of the 2015 OSU team after getting beaten and outplayed the year before.

HS
PhillyNut's picture

Funny thing about stats. Buckeyes were 57th overall last year against the run which was not great but not a dumpster fire. What I liked better is looking at ttun and Bama. Ttun ranked second overall in yards allowed per game at 275. But their last 3 games they allowed 460. Bama ranked 15th at 325 but in their last 3 allowed 469. Buckeyes only allowed 17 more yards per game (421) in their last 3 against much better competition (at least in theory) than earlier in the year. That shows improvement to me and mirages on the seasonal stats for ttun and Bama.

I don't buy one goddam drop of gas in the state of Michigan!

Given how the college football media worships Don Brown, I think it's probably more surprising that Miller didn't have TTUN in his top 10 D-lines. But at least that omission is deserved.
