Need to add Joe Royer to the Big Board.

And any idea why OSU isn’t recruiting Chris Morris?  At least it seems like they aren’t pursuing him.

As you know I always need help with embed since I'm always on mobile. But here's a link and if you scroll down you'll see a pic of Bijan and Wypler together on their visits:

HS

Thank you! And for all the people asking everywhere you can clearly see Bijan made his visit lol

HS

Much like Paris with Milton during his visit, it's nice to see Wypler doing his part to try to reel in Robinson.

Wypler has been really great all along about trying to help build the 2020 class.  Great effort by him to talk to other guys and sell OSU to them.

Go Bucks!

Per Greene: hearing some positive buzz on Ohio State's chances with defensive end Jacolbe Cowan. He wants to do some more checking on this guy but what he heard at camp today certainly got his attention. No Crystal Ball pick yet but this is one he’s locking in on.

Rivals has Cowan at 88th in the nation while 247 has him at 373. That's quite intriguing. Usually 247 and Rivals tend to be on the same page or near the same page.

It's ESPNs job to have some complete outlying numbers that skew the composite.

It's a beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio... and TTUN still sucks.

HS
Buckeye_bob's picture

247 has him ranked 152 and the 12th best DT. He would be a huge get in this class.

HS
Yimmied's picture

No, 247 has him ranked 373 like the original poster said which is the 34th best DT. You spend so much time looking at defensive recruits I'd think you'd know the difference between the composite rankings (where he is 152) and 247's own rankings by now.

No matter what he's ranked I do agree that he'd be a nice addition to the class.

HS
Buckeye_bob's picture

Cowan is a DT he weighs 277lbs, not DE size.

HS
Northbrook's picture

247 lists him as a DT but reportedly Cowan has said he is being recruited as a DE.

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

I think he ends up at FSU but perhaps there will be some news over the next week that changes my stance on that one. I admittedly haven't followed him all that closely. Just know he looks pretty small in a lot of the pics I've seen.

SpoonerBuck33's picture

Would this move up EJ Smith up the board for APB?

Feel like there's been no updates on his recruitment whatsoever anywhere since our staff visited him in May.

HS

Haven't heard that name for a while.

It’s honestly beyond me why these big time RBs don’t want to come play for OSU... I mean FSU?? Ok dude have fun...

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

Cam Akers and Jacques Patrick wasting away at FSU are still some of the sadder things I've seen. Akers is probably my favorite RB over the last five years.

AC's picture

Cam Akers reminded me of a faster/more athletic Spencer Ware coming out of high school. I’d still bet Akers figures it out and is one of the top backs drafted next year.

Me too. If that line at FSU wasn’t so bad. Im hoping that he can remain an unknown so I can get him in my dynasty league.

HS
FieldsofJreams's picture

I have been trying to wrap my head around that as well.  8/10 of our most recent top-ranked RB's have made/likely could make bank as Pros; or should have...looking at you #13.

Dobbins, Weber, Samuel, Zeke, Rod Smith, Beanie, Maurice Hall (Hollywood lol) and Clarrett.  Only two busts were Berry and Wilson (though he might still have a small shot??).  An optimistic jury is still out on McCall.

HS
FieldsofJreams's picture

Off the top of my head, Bama can't even boast that.  Kamara transferred and Tenpenny passed away in a crash.

HS
stuckupnorth's picture

I could be wrong but recruiting kids don’t know who any of those guys are besides Zeke and maybe Samuel. They might know who Weber is because of recruiting but they ain’t impressed by him.

Bama is sprinkled in Derrick Henry (tore it up a couple games last year) Ingram, Jacobs, TJ yeldon(not great) fair or not Kamara gets thrown in there as well. It’s perception not reality also Harris and Patriots.

HS
huffdaddy's picture

I would guess it’s a question of whether we prioritize him or not. To this point we don’t seem to have gone really hard - maybe that changes this week.

Really think it's a 50/50 at this point because BG said his florida sources have Knighton leaning to us, and BG's florida sources are usually as solid as can get.

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

Precisely. And this is why it would be silly to think he's a lock to FSU. Greene is very dialed into that area.

Knarcisi's picture

Is Knighton big enough?  Maybe not as an every down back and a contrasting style and change of pace from Teague and Crowley?

HS

HS
urbansjacket2's picture

Per Givler we knocked Bijan visit out of the park. He spoke glowingly about everything including family atmosphere. Go subscribe to Rivals for the article (seriously, you should) but one quote:

"This was far past the expectations that I had," he continued. "I knew it was going to be all glamorous and everything but, like I said, the vibe I had with them was great and this made a great impact on me and the decision."

HS
urbansjacket2's picture

BK also spoke to him, and we have this to add:

“Very, very high,” Robinson answered when asked to describe his interest now in Ohio State. “OSU (is a) different level.”

However, Robinson has more official visits to take.

“That was the first one and I got USC tomorrow and then Texas on Friday,” Robinson said.

HS

I know it's not the biggest thing to worry about but I wish we didn't get the first visits for Milton and Robinson.

But what does Nevada Buck say?

HS
Knarcisi's picture

Seriously, Tom Herman is a QB run machine. He damn near killed that kid that QB’d for Houston. Ehlinger, 21 carries in the Sugar Bowl. We will run some with Fields, but not as much as QB Killer Herman. Bijan should come here to get his carries.

HS
Woodshed's picture

Seriously. He almost killed that kid in the bowl game.

HS
Knarcisi's picture

Greg Ward was not a big guy for Houston, either. Kept running him and running him, even when the kid was dinged up. He ran our QBs too much, too. It’s irresponsible.

HS
stuckupnorth's picture

What is the time frame for Milton and Robinson? If Robinson wants in sooner than Milton announces is he a take?

HS

Hard to imagine OSU says no to either of them if they want in at that moment.

HS
Smitty516's picture

Agreed, unless Ohio State has Milton significantly higher than Robinson on their board, I doubt they would have Robinson’s offer non-commitable until they know what Milton is doing.

HS

I stand by my post a while back, I think Bijan is the better prospect (more specifically—better fit) of the two...much more explosion. Both are awesome, but I’d personally rather have a Gale Sayers (BK’s comp...which, lolz, but you get the point) than a LenDale White or slightly slower Beanie Wells. Especially in Day’s offense.

HS
LandonTruckedCollins's picture

Agree with the analysis. I was just more excited for milton because until recently, robinson did not seem as realistic an option.

HS
BuckDrew's picture

Agreed. At this point it doesn’t matter who’s better. I’m excited for whoever commits.

HS
AC's picture

more specifically—better fit

I agree with this. But not just in the offense, I think he compliments the guys currently on the roster and the other 2020 RB targets better than Milton. Both are special players in different ways so I’d take either, but I agree with your take on him being a better fit

emotionally exhausted and morally bankrupt

HS
AC's picture

I know there has been a discussion about 2 verse 3 RBs in the class, but has anyone heard how Milton or Robinson might effect that?

Hypothetically, I could see where a class of Milton and Trayanum might look to add a player with similar skills as McCall/Gill (a bonafide receiving threat who situationally can play RB).

If the staff were to add Robinson and Trayanum, I wonder if the staff would pass on adding a third back and look to take two in 2021? In this scenario Robinson’s upside as a receiving threat out of the backfield would allow them to only take 2 RBs.

I know there are other factors like Steele Chambers remaining a RB, Dobbins going pro, and wether Trayanum is actually a RB (I think he is). There’s also no guarantee we get Milton or Robinson. I’m just curious what others have heard regarding the RB class size?

emotionally exhausted and morally bankrupt

HS
Cincybuckeye's picture

I think it depends on if we get either elite back in Robinson or Milton. The scenarios would probably be something similar to what you're suggesting:

Scenario 1: Robinson/Milton and Trayanum

Scenario 2: Trayanum, Knighton, and Sam Adams (?)

Milton and Robinson are as close to sure things as you can get for RBs. If we miss on both, I think you take three to hopefully offset one or two not fulfilling their potential and/or switching to defense.

HS
Smitty516's picture

Are you guys serious with all this running back talk? We still only have one defensive recruit and you guys are worried about if we take 2 or 3 RBs? Smh

Said it on another board and will say it again. I was skeptical at first about Ty but after seeing him at Ohio State’s one day camp on June 6th I like this get. Hamilton was arguably the best DL that day behind Jack Sawyer and that means above Darrion Henry. Ty is an agile, quick and strong player that is also longer than he is given credit for. One thing to also like about Ty is he has such an open frame Coach Mick can build him into whatever LJ wants power end or quick tackle or just a versatile DL. I approve of this get for the buckeyes.

HS

In fairness to Henry, he has been dealing with a leg injury for the past month or so. It seems Hamilton is coming in w the same size and body type as Tyquan Lewis.

HS
EBBuck03's picture

So Henry has a shoulder, foot, AND leg injury? Why I’m the hell is his coach letting him camp?? This is getting ridiculous.

HS
Smitty516's picture

I feel you, my only guess that’s it’s more of nagging injuries and in no way would he be out there if he could hurt it worse. In some ways it speaks to his competitive nature.

HS
BuckeyeBulldog's picture

For sure, I think he is very underrated based on the last camp reps I saw where he looked fast and fluid. He will also be coached by the best in the land.

HS
Buckeye_bob's picture

Hey Stanley, you get that hair fixed yet, lol?

DE not really an area of urgency, We need DT's and secondary commits. He was offered by the best 4 programs in the Big Ten, that means hat 247 was off on their rankings, big surprise! That Bucknuts site is a freaking RAG, so many ads it's difficult to navigate.

Ty is a good HS player I thought under rated, needs to get into shape and get stronger, I think that this kid has a high ceiling and in time he could be a good one,  a little short 6' 3" tall but he will prob be SSDE. Good motor and we will see in time what his work ethic is. We need some top 10 players on this defense.

EBBuck03's picture

I’m not saying that Camody is the end all be all, but at some point, probably after this upcoming season, Day is going to have to make a tough choice about Stud. Fortunately we have good depth at most places of the OL right now, but those were all Meyer’s guys. In the upcoming seasons these misses will start to pile up. It doesn’t matter how many elite QBs and elite WRs you bring in if you don’t have an elite line to support them.

HS
buckslan's picture

There's the false narrative again on Stud. Literally the #1 ranked tackle and center are committed yet we keep 'missing out on all these top prospects'.

HS
stxbuck's picture

Stop making so much sense-you’re ruining the idiot haters vibe.

HS
EBBuck03's picture

Offensive line is not like QB. You don’t just get one stud and pay yourself on the back. If you want to be elite it’s all about stocking quality depth...not a few studs and a bunch of projects.

Plus, Paris was Meyer’s guy and Day is the one who will keep him. Paris’s mother even had a direct quote saying that the relationship with Day is huge because they wanted to be recruited by a HC instead of a position coach.

HS
GVerrilli92's picture

Stud is not good.

Sorry. Like, I really am.

I have no effing idea why everybody seems to be so quick to defend him. I've bartended at 2 of the most prestigious country clubs in cbus, both of which had ex OSU players and coaches, ALL of whom told me their own version of a stud story - to a person. I've heard stories from ex players and coaches (drunken albeit) that would make all stud apologists... well... apologize.

You're a buckeye fan, stop it. Whithers was bad, Davis was bad, Smith was bad - it is possible for bad coaches to skate along at a university like ohio state. Resources allow lesser men to reach quotas, when an OL coaching alternative surfaces we will take it - trust me.

If you have heard personally from people inside of the WHAC, you know that Stud is on thin ice. If you believe otherwise, you're not informed.

Kitties aren't supposed to smell like cigarettes, they're supposed to smell like kitties.

HS
Aportis0214's picture

You guys DV the other guy but Givler, who is one of the most connected insiders, still to this day thinks Stud is not good and isnt very kind about it. I'm not gonna just copy/paste his comments but he has made more than a few this week because he sees crap like this making it seem like it's all sunshine and rainbows with Stud. Besides Munford Stud has been a pretty much non factor with these kids. He isnt hurting us in a way that kids dont want to play for us because he's the coach, but none of these kids even mention him as the reason they are here. Paris = Day. He was a 100% a Urban recruit and Day kept him. Stud was just a guy in that recruitment (who hopefully has Paris's phone number by now..) and he's just a guy in many others. He's never "the" guy.

IMO Stud is good enough of a coach right now not to fire but that doesnt mean he's not 9th outta 9 on the assistant coaching rankings.

HS
Independence Village 22's picture

I know we love and need Milton. But Ive always been turned off by the recruit that almost commits to every school he visits. Kid and dad that are blown away by every single visit and every school thinks they are a silent commit. We rarely win those type of kids committments and I cant remember many of them being super successful. They are more then likely to transfer and appear to in it for themselves and not enough in it for the team/school.

HS
Northbrook's picture

Seems there is one of us who doesn't love him.

HS
buckslan's picture

Ugh that's a huge assumption to make. Where has he almost committed to every school he visits? Any and all news and reactions you hear are coming from insiders and message board warriors. They've tried to keep things close to the vest and out of the spotlight as much as possible.

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

It is the schools and fans who are assuming they lead for him, probably because each school wants him badly. The kid and his family are taking the trips and have not said a thing about where he will end up. They haven't handled this any different than any other recruit.

PSU thought they were getting Fleming after he kept visiting, then Clemson thought they had him, then he ended up at OSU. Do we not want him? This is a case of fan created drama. The kid hasn't done a thing wrong and there is no evidence he has almost committed to every school he has visited. He's enjoyed his visits and has said the things 95% of kids say when they take those visits but he's a 5* RB so he's under the microscope.

HS
BuckeyeBulldog's picture

Not to be too condescending but maybe he just picked to visit 5 of the top programs in the country who all have legit awesome programs and campuses.

I don't think anyone will be surprised if he goes elsewhere, especially to UGa. But questioning a kids character and ability based on their recruitment is silly, and I personally feel like Milton is trying to give each of his 5 visits their due diligence.

HS
Smitty516's picture

I wonder how many people will legitimately try to blame jbook if he goes somewhere else? Lol

HS
stxbuck's picture

Exactly. Recruits do this-pick from the hot sun n' fun school of the moment. Back in the 90s, top kids would visit Nebraska, Tennessee, Miami, and FSU-all the hot spots. Mid 2000s USC, LSU. Nowadays--Bama,Georgia,Clemson,LSU (this year).

HS
EBBuck03's picture

I don’t know if you read Kipp Adams interviews with Milton’s dad on the 247 site, but lord, he was absolutely gushing about UGA. He mentioned the bit about them using the deceased grandfather in a graphic and he said one would think it could be exploitive (I personally did) but some how it didn’t feel that way. Then he said their RB coach McGee shed a tear about it (I mean come on...) and it was so genuine. Kirby is something else.

It has a lot to do with Smart taking a pic of Bama's recruiting board before he left.  Then using said pic to show recruits where they really stood in Bama's pecking order.

HS
EvanstonBuckeye's picture

That's pretty shitty, IMO. If you can prove someone is guilty of violations, fine. To just show how each program makes the sausage, though, is pretty weak.

HS

So how exactly did Georgia find out that it was the anniversary of his great-grandfather's passing?  How exactly did they get a picture of Kendall with him?  Maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't a family member have to provide that info and the picture?  Something seems a little off about that whole thing.

It is massively creepy. And it feels contrived. And Chris Milton milking it seems very self promoting. Personally, I think to key to all this is having Robinson slow down his recruitment.  IF the Texas commitment watch stuff is true, then we just need to survive this week.  Hopefully, after visiting OSU for the first time Robinson thinks to himself "wow, I have a lot more to think about now" especially since he hadn't been here before and had been to Texas before.  If he delays his decision and goes into the fall where we can get him for another visit, then I think that would be a very positive sign for OSU.  Plus, the longer this plays out the longer it gives Texas a chance to flip McClellan.

HS
Buckeye06's picture

I think the closest I've seen was an article on burntorangenation.com where he said something in a live feed indicating they were his favorite (pre OSU visit), and then there was the other RB visiting in the next few weeks so maybe they thought that was speeding up Robinson's timeline?

I would keep my eye on Blake Corum in this RB shakeout. I don't think he's an every-down back, but if we decide to go with a bigger back (Milton or Traynayum), he could sneak into position in this class.

I would have agree on watching out for Corum. In my opinion he is better than Knighton and I would take him as the second back. Corum is faster, stronger, and more shifty he is just all around better. I wouldn’t say it’s a stretch to say that we lead for him as well.

HS
AC's picture

Corum has 3 high school teammates who are committed to TTUN and people have had him pegged as the lead back in their class for months. Their fans will die if he comes here as the second back.

Do you like him better than a guy like Sam Adams or do you just think he’s more realistic as a second back in the class.

HS
MickWalker23's picture

That’s a real tough one, I am very interested to see how Adams visit goes next weekend especially with Gee on campus with him. I would have Adams 2a and Corum 2b for a few different reasons. play style as in speed and shiftiness they are about equal but I would have to take Adams because is frame is still open Corum’s may be topped out.

HS
AC's picture

Interesting, I personally like Adams a lot and like you am curious to see how his official goes. After Milton/Robinson he is the clear 3rd for me but I understand why people like Corum.

Corum’s got some serious wheels and after a couple years in a S&C program, where he can get stronger, he could be really good. He really is a north south runner who loves to plant and get up field. Probably nitpicking but I feel like every time I watch Corum I’m impressed, but I’m also left wishing he had displayed better vision. He never really cuts back or finds the backside running lanes. I guess when I watch him I’m just left wanting more, which seems unfair because he’s really good!

I get that Ohio State has the top tackle and center committed, but I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that there’s A LOT of concern surrounding Stud as a recruiter. And not just from random message board people.

WildBear Buckeye's picture

Oh-oh ... should we expect something unpleasant in the near future?

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

No not at all. Just saying guys like LJ and Alford don’t need a lot of hand holding. Hartline has proven he doesn’t need it either. Can’t say the same about the OL. I’m far from a Stud hater but this has definitely been an ongoing thing.

GetBuckedUp's picture

Day keeping Stud was one of the more perplexing decisions I feel.

Stud is a recruiting liability. He hasnt really landed any recruits either. He's had his ass saved by Meyer, Schiano, and Day.

Honestly, it shouldnt be hard to recruit at OSU. The university and program sells itself.

Also, I know Givler and Greene echo the same sentiment on Stud being an abysmal recruiter.

HS
elitesmithie's picture

Wasnt to me in the sense he overhauled the defensive staff and probably wanted some continuity and felt that he could better offset any offensive deficiencies vs on the defensive side of the ball. I would expect the movement on the offensive coaching staff to take place after this year.

HS
chris's picture

I think the point about continuity holds water. My hypothesis is that Day planned on keeping continuity unless he knew he had a great replacement.

With the energy it took to transition the D coaching staff and the need to get things rolling, I think he may have ran out of time to find a good enough replacement to justify a transition to a new OL coach. Perhaps there's only so much you can do in one hiring cycle.

So, you plug the biggest leaks and re-evaluate as this year progresses. Just a hypothesis though.

HS
iowabuckeyes's picture

What Day did to the defensive staff is the exact same thing Manny Diaz did to Miami’s offensive coaches—he gutted the weaker side of the org chart. It’s entirely possible Stud’s biggest saving grace was he was one of Day’s guys.

HS

stxbuck's picture

Dirty secret of OL and OL coaches-they don’t tend to fall into the “charismatic” personality category. They either tend to be salty and quasi-psychotic-Alex Boone, Richie Incognito or they are laid back and intelligent-Nick Mangold, John Urschel- and not necessarily the type of person teenage skill players are drawn to-a general “good recruiter”-I imagine LBs and QBs like Coach Hartline too. This puts OL coaches behind the 8 ball when it comes to starhanderouters ranking the most awesomest recruiters. Different people have different roles in any organization and no one is going to be great at everything.

I could somewhat get behind you Smitty if they were from our region, but both backs are out on the West Coast.  We have not pulled in a 5* RB since 2006, so we would have to question Tress and Urbz too.

HS
CorchUrb's picture

Ryan Day sold me on his recruiting abilities after what he did with Enokk Vimahi with only a few weeks. Look at what he did holding on to all those guys, landing Harrison. The 2020 class will be top 5, which is all you can ask for from a coach who has no track record. He’s done a great job recruiting so far. If you thought he was going to recruit at Urbans level, that just wasn’t going to happen right away. Urban came in with rings and a rock star level of popularity.

HS
Andrew Ellis's picture

I’ll reiterate that I know nothing on Knighton except that the FSU side seems confident.

Bucks19's picture

We lose out on both Milton and Robinson. Robinson will come back down to earth after the visit. Milton has been a long shot. Just brace yourselves.

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

I don't think we need any bracing. Urban didn't land a 5* RB in 7.5 recruiting cycles for the Buckeyes. The run game seemed to function adequately to say the least. It would be nice to land Milton or Robinson, but college football is littered with talented RBs each season. I'm confident the Buckeyes will bring in a couple good ones who can thrive.

HS
FieldsofJreams's picture

We are prob no better off than 30% w/ Robinson and 45% w/ Milton.  Bucks19 is right DVer's, brace yourselves for at least the 40% of outcomes where we miss out on both.

HS
EBBuck03's picture

Agreed.  I've been saying that for over a week and I'm usually the Buckeye optimist.  Something doesn't feel right about RB recruiting this year and I can't put my finger on it.  I'd happily eat crow later on though if we happen to pull off a miracle.

HS
Beantown_Buckeye's picture

I'm actually pretty happy with it. The Buckeyes are in on a lot of the top guys. Whether Milton or Robinson becomes the lead RB in the class is up in the air but OSU is in a good spot with guys like Berger, Adams, Toafili, Knighton and Corum. Trayanum is an interesting in-state solution as well.

Last year seemed like a mess. The Buckeyes never got in the game with Sanders, wavered on Cain, blew the Ford recruitment, and never got over the hump with McIntosh. They took a commitment from Sampson James and that didn't take for whatever reason and the staff pulled a late rabbit out the hat to flip Crowley from Miami. I also wonder if Chambers would have started his OSU career as a RB if Snead wasn't gone.

We also watched Michigan identify a sleeper in Charbonnet who rocketed up the rankings and I don't think OSU even recruited him. So the fact that OSU is in prime position with two 5* RBs in 2020 and has some fallback options seems ok to me.

HS

He took his first official to Arkansas. His 5 OVs were Arkansas, LSU, Texas, A&M, and OSU. Baseball teams hit home runs all of the time and still lose the game in the end. Still usually better to hit the home run than not. Not to mention if both sides hit home runs it is a moot point, or if one is a two run vs a one run and so on.

The analogies could work, still does not make it less true that a prospect really likes OSU, or another school, is blown away and still goes somewhere else for a number of reasons.

TE recruiting with Cam Large is interesting because Wisky could potentially be his favorite and we may press him on a commit and if he doesn't we could circle back to Luke Lachey who wants to commit somewhere soon. Mookie Cooper probably won't have a decision anytime soon and Drennen is putting himself in a bad spot because he wants to take all his visits and wait on a decision and may be left out of the class

Texas Rivals guy says Ransom spoke to him about being down to three schools even though he recently released a top 5.  Texas was one of the three.  I'm assuming ND and OSU round out that three with possibly OU and LSU on the outside looking in.  Just my take.  Also said the visit went very well and the Texas staff really won over the mother.

I think the Buckeyes might be behind the eight ball a bit here.  Remember, Texas got Ransom for an entire weekend a few weeks ago and ND has already had two visits.  It's also worth noting that when he did visit OSU it was very short (only for an afternoon).  We have some ground to make up but I think it's doable.

If Ann Arbor is a whore, what's Harbaugh for going back to her?

I only believe it if Bobby tweets it 25 more times in the next 24 hours like Bob does

Out of all the defensive alums that could've responded to that tweet, OF COURSE his name had to be Bobby.

It's a beautiful day in Columbus, Ohio... and TTUN still sucks.

Okay I thought barf killed the bob jokes but that’s damn good

Apparently the Texas Rivals site is saying we made a big move with Robinson this weekend.  I can't get eyes on it to verify, but sounds good to me.

He was gushing about the visit on Instagram. I know social media is by far the worst indicator for how things are standing in recruiting, but I've always known him to be sort of a non-vocal guy.

I'm  not on social media so I'm not sure what he was saying, but hopefully it wasn't just fluff (as you said).

Would be great news.  He should like the depth chart and the offensive pieces we are putting around all over the field this cycle

How did Texas do with the McClellen visit this past weekend?  If they can flip him that would certainly enhance our shot with Robinson.

I like to read this message board for Texas (they straight copy/paste a ton of paid Texas recruiting info which is bad but hey, im gonna read it)

https://www.surlyhorns.com/board/index.php?/topic/100-texas-recruiting-notes-2020/page/368/

Its a long thread but if you read the last couple pages they seem to think McClellan had a good visit but he's not going to flip any time soon. They are "chipping away" at Oklahoma. So I dont see him committing before Robinson based off that.

Both are great backs, but Robinson seems more explosive. Having an explosive back like him paired with these dynamic receivers would be lights out for big 10 defenses.

And the musical chairs at RB begins...

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

I’m sure the 2,000+ yard season and Heisman campaign Dobbins is about to drop along with the natty we will win will help with our running back recruiting...

HS

Let's be honest - The Heisman will most likely go to 1 of the following: Tua, Lawrence, or Herbert. The Heisman is more about hype than anything these days and those 3 will be hyped by ESPN and other outlets from the beginning.

HS

I hate the Heisman trophy. It is "an annual award given to the most outstanding college football player in the US." Are you really trying to tell me that the most outstanding college football player each year is a QB or RB? I thought Quinnen Williams deserved it last year. He was by far the best and most dominant player we saw all year.

Much like going into last year tua was" the guy"...then Kyle Murray appeared

Ryan day the goat....and yes I pee on ttun all the time

Tua, Lawrence, or Herbert.

ESPN doesn't even know where the Pacific Northwest is on a map.

Oregon will lose too many games, and Herbert is a better NFL prospect than he is a CFB player.  His best statistical game last year in a WIN vs. P5, was 270 total yards w/ 2 TDs.

HS
BurningRiverBuckeye's picture

You're right. Just put him in there because he is projected to be a top pick and they usually invite 3 to the party in NY. He may get an invite but his chances of winning are the same as Haskins'

BK with a CB for Chris Thompson whom Birm mentions in his recruiting update today.

Edit: Actually I don't know that CB is for the Buckeyes but I'll guess it is. 2nd edit: looks like it might be Texas

RB is going to be interesting. But Crowley is a very good back. Chambers might stick at RB. Those 2 are more in the power mold along with Teague.

They might really be looking at more of a change of pace guy to complement those.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

HS

Seems like Teague is going to be both power and speed. Was one of 3 players clocked in the 4.3s. Obviously a hand timed, inflated number, but still telling.

HS
Cincybuckeye's picture

Back during the 2018 cycle, Teague was timed in the 4.4s at both OSU and Bama's summer camps. Dudes definitely got some juice.

Concerned about Teague, Steele, and Trayanum at RB. All have the size to play RB but not the shiftiness. Need Robinson or else.
