*Enters quietly, takes a spot near the door*
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
Not offensive. But, if you're a member of the bin laden family I could understand.
This is just like Woody saying, "When I go recruit in That state up north, the folks there treat me like Hitler." Nothing to see here, but go ahead and be offended if you want.
Maybe your dream will come true, and Dabo will get fired for comparing himself to the former, and most well know public enemy #1 in decades. Maybe not.
Re-read my post -- Didn't see where I was calling for his job or anything remotely close to that. Thank you, though, for the feedback.
“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.”
Another swipe at dabo from jealous OSU fan. No different than UM and PSU fans taking swipes at Urban and OSU in lame attempts to discredit our success.
it’s petty, it’s pathetic, and it’s transparent
Dabo has built a powerhouse and deserves all the accolades he gets.
Another swipe at dabo from jealous OSU fan.
Hovenaut was taking a swipe at Dabo? I didn't read that.
Unless you replied to the first comment by Hove just to get your words seen at the top, this doesn't make sense.
This ought to be fun.
Tom Brady lost to John Cooper. Never forget.
Enjoying daily the 62-39 ttun beatdown.
I don't think Dabo is a bad guy by any means...
I do... or at the very least, a phony, hypocritical, pompous, pious douche.
When I die, sprinkle my ashes over the 70's
I just want to know why you’re offended. Lol
Afghanistan should be offended, being compared to Alabama.
Did you know anyone killed during the 9/11 attacks? Any tongue-in-cheek comments made about that in a joking manner is pretty unbecoming. Does that answer your question?
I’m in the Army currently serving a deployment, working in a field that entails knowing how the enemy operates. Does that count for anything? ... does George Bush know anyone who died in the 9/11 attacks? That’s a good question.
Thank you for your service, I am a Marine and have served multiple deployments all over the world. I'm no longer high speed low drag and am in the civilian world, but I have to ask, why does it matter if GWB knew anyone in the 9/11 attacks? Is that a prerequisite to being able to declare war? I guess I'm trying to understand your point about 43. I think you are asking sarcastically but not sure so I thought I'd ask. Not offended if you think he should have, more just scratching my head. hahaha
"it matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.
Thanks for your service. And I don’t believe you actually want to know the answer to that question.
What does Afghanistan directly have to do w/ 9/11 victims?
America!!! Fuck ya! Freedom is the only way!! Coming again the save the motherfuckin day. Terrorists your game is through cause now you have to answer to...
Afghanistan is where the 9/11 attacks were planned.
Along w/ Hamburg, New Jersey, Minneapolis,etc........................
Yes, I know people who have died as a result of 9/11. I also have many friends who were killed in Iraq and Afgan... Still not offended....
"Come on, you sons of b!tches! Do you want to live forever?" -- Dan Daly, WWI
Dabo Swinney Calling Himself 'Osama bin Dabo' is Horrendous
The title of the link speaks for itself. Yes, I believe it is offensive.
Buy the ticket take the ride.
Many things to complain about with Dabo. But I absolutely fail to see how this is offensive. Why should we care that he said that?
Probably because he could have used a different analogy than comparing himself to the mastermind of an attack that killed thousands of American civilians and continues to take the lives of our military men and women.
It's all about context. A patriotic American can pull it off while an American hating English person couldn't - just like how black dudes can make fun of their race, but a Latino better not say it.
I’m not offended, but I’m generally someone that’s hard to offend.
I think it’s extremely stupid for him, as the head coach of a major program, to compare himself to an individual that was once the world’s most notorious terrorist.
PG <3 PG
Not seriously, though. Not even remotely serious. It’s a joke.
I’m sure he was joking, but Gordon Gee can tell you where jokes get you these days.
I agree I think it is def a bit of a risk for the comparison. I mean what if someone compares themselves to Hitler, I am sure there would be backlash.
Out Work, Out Think, Out Play!!!
If anything it reinforces my belief that Dabo is a giant moron who has been surrounded by the best assistant coaching staff in CFB, elite QB's and the abomination that is called ACC Football.
I really want to see Venables and Co all get HC positions at the same time and watch the wheels fall off*
*Since Clemson plays in the ACC, the "wheels falling off" for them would probably look like a 10-2 regular season with a bowl game loss.

Not offensive. Too much offense-taking in the culture.

Crazed fundamentalists of a feather flock together...........
Somebody needs to shove his cash and peds up his ass. Fuck Dabo.
Fuck eSECpn and fuck Mythigan.
I DID know someone who was in tower 2 and was killed, went to high school with him, I still don't feel it gives me some badge of honor for that unfortunate distinction. While I think his comments were ill fitting and could have said something a little less cringe worthy I am not offended. Like others I think we have become way to sensitive this day in age, way too much anxiety and anger in our world. Remain Calm and GO BUCKS
Poor taste? Yes
but what do I know?
Feed the trolls
I am outraged you're not outraged
Now I am...
What would happen if Urban said something similar?
About 35% of this site would defend him just b/c he is Urban, and the other 65% (myself included) would think, "I kinda like having this new guy in charge. It's not like recruiting has gone downhill."
And about .001% of the site would just post Grateful Dead videos.
Earle’s target practice
Not offended. What else you got?
Chill out, Elsa.
I’m offended that someone who either doesn’t know the correct usage of “to” and “too” doesn’t care enough to proofread his articles is getting paid to write them.
Fuck Dabo. "Winter is coming."
Offended by what? Grow a sack ffs. Stop actively seeking for things to get "offended" about. All this faux outrage about anything and everything really pisses me off.
So your triggered by it? ;)
I'm triggered by "your" instead of "you're."
Nothing cleanses the soul like a no call pass interference.
You have a point their......
Ugh. Not a mistake I typically make. I shall go forward in the internet humbled by this experience for the next five minutes. Then, and only then, will my takes be as hot as ever.
Grisle I'm not actively seeking anything you clown. It popped up, I found it interesting and wanted to put it out there on this site since I hadn't seen it before.
I am still waiting for the first time I was ever offended by anything someone said. I guess you have to value other people's opinions more than yourself for that to occur.
Perhaps yur just hard of hering.
Big difference between taking offense and calling out incredibly stupid hottakes. The two often get confused on here-perhaps willfully so, perhaps not.
"I have to navigate my way through the caves and back channels too make my way through Alabama "
That's where his players learned how to do the Dabo. Instead of navigation of back channels it's the navigation of opposing players back sides....
Dabo gonna Dabo. Don't really care.
I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.
I don't think Dabo is a bad guy by any means, but I'm sick of everyone putting him on some kind of PEDestal. Maybe this will open some eyes out there. Anyone offended by this kind of comment?
The dude has a chance to go on a HISTORIC college football run. He's got kids all-in from NC, SC, Georgia, Bama, Tenn and Florida and this type of comment is something they'll get. While I don't think it's appropriate the dude is ALWAYS selling... ALWAYS.. and this is just more of that.. It's a comment directed at 16,17 and 18-year-old kids and they won't bat an eye about what he said and will love what he's saying..
Da-Blow Sweeney is another back stabbing piece of shit....lower then Franklin...he would leave Clemson in the middle of the night for the Bama Job....FUCK Da-Blow...Fuck Clemson and Clemson Fans...Go Bu cks
Pseudo-event. Fake news. There’s no story here. Let’s stop throwing crap against the wall to get a mob worked up about nothing.
I am not a Dabo fan. Do not like his “act”. But this is a silly thread. Leave this lack of newsworthiness to MSNBC.
Hallelujah. Where’s the Tylenol.
No, he clearly meant no harm by it and i hate the people that ARE offended by this nonsense.
Working backwards on the Yoda scale, you must fear these people. Be brave and do not fear them. They are not worth your fear, anger, or hatred. Try contempt. Yoda never opined about what contempt leads to. ;)
Guess I'm not the only one getting tired of his cute and folksy shtick.
I think it was his weird way to tell his down home 'bama natives that he is trying to be humble in his home state, or gain a little sympathy with him that he is not well liked in his home state. Boo freakin hoo, dude.
That snake needs to be taught a lesson.....
Who cares.. He's not our coach, and likely will be Bama's coach in the future.. They can have him.
Pigskins & Porkrinds
I am so offended I am going to boycott Clemson. No more watching their games or buying merchandise.
My friends I am done.
No, but I think that is an idiotic thing to say. He could have just said he is not well liked there and go from there.
Meh, I am not offended. Dabo does things his own way and sometimes that rubs people the wrong way. I honestly think he is a good coach that has been extremely successful. We tend to not like that type of success unless it is Ohio State which is understandable. The comment really was not necessary in my opinion.
If you are offended, you are contributing to the pussification to America. It was a tongue in cheek comment, not meant to offend or attack. However, I agree that Dabo is not just a good ole boy who always plays by the rules. The PED thing still somehow keeps getting brushed under the rug.
Right I mean when I saw it I wasn't clutching my pearls about to faint. I was more so scratching my head wondering if he realized what he was saying. There are about 100 other ways to say he's not really welcome in Alabama anymore, that's all.
True, and I also think it's a situation where you have to know your audience. I actually find humor in what he said, if it was said in a conversation between friends at the bar. Not to the media, I wouldn't have put it out there. But I'm not going to go nuts over him saying it, I don't really have a filter either, and say things I probably shouldn't.
Bull, you don't Osama anything or anyone without an intent to offend or attack, let's get real. That's like saying, "With all due respect" allows you to say anything you want and it's can't be offensive.
So Dabo Osama'd the Clemson head coach with an intent to offend him?
Or is it that he's impugning the legendary hospitality of Alabama in his assertion that they are treating him like Osama during his peaceful and wholesome visits to that fair land?
Or is it that he's asserting that Alabama is like Afghanistan and or Pakistan, letting Osama Bin Dabo operate in their territory with impunity despite his well documented crimes.
With all due respect, I find your appeal to realism confusing. ;)
Personally I view Alabama like Afghanistan (never trust places starting with an A - Ann Arbor...), so I like #3, but I don't talk about that publicly for risk of offending the people offended by other people's offense.
If you are offended, you are contributing to the pussification to America.
I’m not offended, but I do feel like he’s a little tone-deaf. But then again, I also think it’s a little silly to complain about some degradation of society by insulting people by claiming that they act like women. Again, I’m not offended, but think it’s a little tone-deaf.
Agree that his comment could be taken as being a bit tone deaf. But context is everything, and he wasn't directing it at anyone in an attacking matter. As far as my comment, see below. My comment has nothing to do with women...if anything I have something against cats. In that case yes, I guess I am degrading cats?
According to OED, pussy actually comes from the word puss, a well-used name for cats at that time. It was first used to mean cat.
Context is everything, but you are claiming to be referring to cats. How gay. *
* OED: (C-2-b) A childish amusement; a trifle, a whim.
I believe the phrase is, "don't piss on my leg and tell me it is raining"
Maybe it's me, maybe it's because I'm not in the newest generation, but I tend to look at context before I look at clickbait headlines. If there is no malicious intent, I'm fine with it. Maybe my comments will be looked at in bad taste by the younger generation. I'm ok with it. But at the current rate, the generation that comes behind them will create a riff from something as simple as "my shirt is red". The new generation will scream, "that shirt is Rose and this is a slight on the color red!".
My comment has nothing to do with women...if anything I have something against cats. In that case yes, I guess I am degrading cats?
Oh, well that’s the first time that I’ve ever heard of anyone talking about the “pussification” of anything where the statement meant that the thing was acting more like a cat, and not that they were effeminate and therefore were weak. If you really were really using the term not in a degrading way towards women, then please explain what you actually meant by pussification. In what way would you be comparing the situation to cats? What about cats makes them a good comparison to the situation that you presented?
My point is that is the origin of where the term came from in a negative sense. My comment in no way meant anything degrading about females haha. Weak? Fragile? Yes...has nothing to do with women. My wife of all people would straight up slap me if she heard me say that word (which I have used around her) and in any way she thought I was referring to women.
I guess it's what you take out of it. If you were offended by my comment, sorry. The intent wasn't there in the context in which you are referencing. I live in a house full of women, and they straight up run the house.
My point is that is the origin of where the term came from in a negative sense. My comment in no way meant anything degrading about females haha.
Well, then you are the first person that I’ve heard use that term in that way to refer to weak and fragile in regards to an actual feline.
If you offended by my comment, sorry.
I’m not offended. I just think it’s tone-deaf.
I just think it’s tone-deaf
That's funny, because cats have good hearing. But I don't know if they have perfect pitch. Maybe it depends on the cat. I remember reading a short story once that included a "cat piano" that used live cats. I assume those cats were not tone deaf.
Or is it good eyesight that cats have? Forget what I said. Except the part about the cat piano. That was real.
I've got an umbrella I can lend you.
Granted, a small snippet of an interview can be taken out of context, but... That was just weird.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Not offended. Just such a weird thing to say.
I greatly admire Dabo, and I don't see any reason to be offended by his comment. He's simply joking that he's no longer Mr. Popular in Alabama - it's not like he's made anti-American comments before so he can jokingly compare himself to Obama if he want to - no one believes for a second that Dabo is cool with 9/11 or making fun of any killed that day.
Sounds like you’re just jealous of his success.
I'm offended that this hick idiot gets a pass for every stupid thing he says. Imagine ESPN if Urban had uttered such a thing?
But Urban doesn't joke around like Dabo does so comparing himself to Osama would make Urban look like he's not being genuine; however, when Davo says it's hilarious because such a comparison of how he's treated back in his home state is hilarious.
Two people saying the same thing - one dude gets laughs the other one gets groans. It's really not unusual.
Don't admire Dabo, and If I was recruiting against him I'd use it. He would against anyone else.
I'm not, so I'm done thinking about it.
I had not read this before. What he is saying is that he is about as popular as OBL in his (Dabo's) home state after the BCSCG last season. Anyone that does not understand or is "offended" needs to lighten up. I am no fan of Clemson but anyone not regarding Swinney as a top notch coach is letting their prejudice get in the way of their reasoning ability. Swinney sells his program as well as any coach out there. I don't know what to think of the PED thing.
the BCSCG last season
I don't think Clemson ever played in the BCSCG
Shandy is not beer
Eh...his comment was a little off color but it’s just crazy how bitter some Ohio State fans are of Dabo. The man is a great coach plain and simple who 31-0’d and flat out embarrassed an Urban Meyer team in the playoff semis. As I’ve said before I’m just as big of a Buckeye as anyone else here but Dabo has my respect as a football coach. Some fans need to lose the bitterness and jealousy towards Dabo and Clemson. Ryan Day will lead us to the promised land soon enough.
