ManMountain!

Not wishing to sound uncharitable (as I should take my own advice), but Mr. Jones could be a lot more maneuverable if he can drop about 40 pounds. Easier for him, as Dawand has the advantage of being a student in Coach Marotti's conditioning program. And the fact he's young and in his prime. ;-)

Get him down to about Taylor Decker proportions, and the kid might be the second coming of Orlando Pace.

Not concerned about weight...just make it a "good" 360lbs or whatever he ends up at. He's bound to still have some baby fat.  Coach Mick will melt that off in a few weeks and start packing that good mass on him.

If it will save Dawand's knees, losing that "baby fat" will pay dividends for his long-term health. With the speed and torque of today's game, dropping a few stone won't hurt his play.

Yeah, no such thing as a good 360lbs but perhaps a better 330 lbs might be beneficial

No argument here...just saying muscle weighs more, and when mick gets a hold of him, you’ll no doubt see him trim down, but also get stronger.  So the actual weight loss might not be as much as we think it is from just his appearance alone.

Very true. But at least muscle has the ability to 'move' itself. Fat is just along for the ride.

I'm here for the ride, so I must be "the fat".... damn.

What's round on the ends and high in the middle? Tell me if you know!

Nothing says "fat" like a Nutty Buckeye.

He has such a great smile! Could he be the next Happy Jamarco?

I'd rather be an hour early than a minute late.

If he chooses basketball (not that he will) I see a lot of Shaq in his game. How good is he at the free throw line lol?

Gotta find out what makes this kid angry. Haha.

Reminds me of Tim Moxley out of Barnesville in the mid 1980s, size wise.  Moxley was 6 feet 7 and was a 300 pounder when there were not many 300 pounders. He had a  decent career at TOSU.

So who is actually taller-Trey Leroux or Dawand Jones? 6’8 355 list vs 6’8 360. The title of biggest ever might change from meal to meal.

HS

Anyone have the measurables for Matt Zahn from back in the day?  I would have said he was more than 360, but I could be wrong.

EDIT:  I should have done this first, here is his profile.  6'7  360

Buddy, do you think we are making this up as we go?

schwab's picture

Lol of course not... I just remember seeing him in the Wendy's between the towers, he was 360 on a light day, didn't know what he was listed at

They need to make that man a tight end.  Can see him going over the middle against a 6-foot safety, or in motion to block anyone.

HS
PsyBuck's picture

He wouldn't have to hurdle anyone either. Just sort of *hop* over them. And once he got that inertia moving in the right direction it would take 3 defenders to bring him down.

I say put him at 3rd string TE and grab the popcorn!

Dawand is my choice for 4th and goal from the 2 ydl. He reminds me of Zack Randolph in HS. Overweight but deft with the ball in his hands. Zach slimmed down more even after a yr. at Sparty.  I have high hopes Dawand will be a blessing for us Buckeye fans as he progresses.  GO BUCKS!

Won't be moving this one to center. Not unless Holtmann comes a calling anyway.

Feder had similar fanfare after arriving on campus, so I'll wait to see something happen before I get excited about someone's size.

He clearly moves well and has solid conditioning, I look forward to him changing his eating habits - with an advanced workout program!

Gawt damn! (Noob Noob) this Ohio state O-line is going to be something special in the years to come. Glade to see Mr. Jones has nice feet work coming in as a freshman.
