Anything that trolls PSU I am all for. Hope the kid has a great career here.

I don’t follow recruiting much, but I like the way this young man has handled the process.

Kid wants to win a national championship and get a great education!
I'm starting to really like this kid! I cannot imagine what that recruiting process is like, but it truly has to be exhausting and full of BS! If I had the talent and was being recruited, I'd probably want to get it over with as well!
The best thing about Pastafarianism? It is not only acceptable, but advisable, to be heavily sauced
The constant hard sell from everyone you meet must get old in a hurry. Pick the good guys and then enjoy your senior year.
Smart decision, best decision as far as his football career and his life off the field.
It sounds like it's really more about his connection with Hartline, who the QB is, and the offense in general. I wonder if the Shorter thing had any real relevance. I mean Babb, a top 100 recruit in his own right, RSing last year did not move the needle. And, Olave was the only first or second year WR to notch much of any WR stats and he only had 12 receptions.
Strength equipment is expensive & guarantees you nothing. A strong will is free & will give you everything you need.
I kind of talked with Carpenter and Rothman on 97.1 The Fan about this topic, and I believe that point was more of another rung on the ladder toward rationalizing not going to Penn State, as if there needed to be as many reasons as possible to explain to his hometown community why he chose Ohio State whether it played a big part or not.

Yeah, that makes more sense. He probably is just trying to rationalize his decision to the hometown fans that are not happy with him. Ultimately he made the best decision for him and he doesn't owe anyone anything. I just thought it was an interesting point to bring up as it didn't quite add up to me.
Babb was recovering from ACL surgery and was out for the year.
This is definitely where I parked my car.
and even if youre a top 100 recruit thats still a huge difference between being the #1 positional guy and not playing
"I feel ready for whatever awaits me on the other side. I don’t fear adversity. I don’t fear the spotlight. I don’t fear success. And I don’t fear failure." - Braxton Miller
I think the Shorter point was a convenient excuse for Julan. I do wonder if he watched PSU's offense, however, and use of WRs with an experienced QB and just didn't see them as such a focal point. Keep in mind as well that PSU throws to their TEs a lot. There are only so many balls to go around.
It's also tough when you've got Campbell, Dixon, and McLaurin in front of you. I think Olave and Babb both have the potential to be great now that the seniors are gone, but KJ and Ben Vic are both returning, and with the recruiting happening that way it is, they best not rest. I hope the QB position is ready to get these WRs the ball. That seemed to be the biggest difference in the Haskins era. He got those guys the ball and they made things happen.
I’m ready to have it over with and just live a regular person’s life.
If he heeds the advice of Deion Sanders, he'll never have a regular person's life. Best of luck to Julian at OSU and beyond!
He should definitely heed Deion's advice! "Regular people" are not 5* recruits who go to Ohio State University, so that ship has already sailed. But I don't blame him one bit for wanting to control as much of his personal life as possible. It's got to be crazy making to deal with recruiters from multiple schools on a daily basis.
Good choice by the young man, and he did a nice job working thru the layers in the evaluation to make the decision. He's playing for one of the best top tier schools in the country

The only thing that I disagree with here is that Penn State "lost" Fleming...I'm giving Ohio State, Day, Hartline, and staff due credit.
It's easy to say good for Julian Fleming for not buying into the "stay-at-home obligation", because we dealt with similar (not at all identical) with Jackson Carman a couple years ago. It's their decision, one of the bigger ones in their lives.
Got M...igan gossip? Bang it here.
Seems like a well spoken dude. I don't blame him for wanting out of all of the attention. Some guys seem to thrive on it and even go way too far with the goofy actions. Good to see things like this though.
He didn't walk down my Pennsylvania street or I would have stepped out behind the big red flag and told him to go to Ohio State. I got a new favorite Buckeye. Any fellow Pennsylvania kid who wants more than PSU offers is a favorite of mine, from Terrelle Pryor to Eddie George, Noah Spence, Marcus Hooker, Dorian Bell, Fred Pagac, I could go on...
Hell with the lid off
There are a lot of Buckeyes fighting the good fight here in PA.
Sounds like a quality recruit with his head on straight. Glad he's a Buckeye.

Taylor, why didn’t you just post the link to Penn live? This is from June 1st. I’ve seen members get ripped for posting less content without sourcing.

That was interesting. Not as much butthurt as I might have expected (which was a lot) except for the few meatheads that you find almost everywhere.

This kid is legit.
Welcome to Buckeye Nation!
Thank the Maker that I was born in Ohio, cradle of coaches, US Presidents, confederate-stomping Generals, and home of The Ohio State University Football Buckeyes- 2014 UNDISPUTED National Champions!
Penn State seems to have played this like the process that some of us endured in buying a car as an adult at a dealership for the first time.
You have a young, overeager salesman come up to you and the first words out of their mouth are "What payment is it going to take to get you to drive out of here today in a new car?" That right there tells me that dickhead salesman has absolutely zero interest in listening to what you want, or what you need. He is bound and determined to jam that car that he has on the lot right now down your throat - and he wants you to like it.
Where as Ohio State may have taken the approach of closing their mouths and opening their ears. Then, and only then, will they let Julian know what they are prepared to offer, and why it may be in his best interest to accept. But above all else, the want him to feel like it is HIS decision - not a decision he made basically to shut someone up, and he now needs a shower.
Welcome to the Buckeye family, Julian!

My daughter just graduated from high school Sunday. Her college search seemed exhausting and we didn't have to do "unofficial" visits, camps, or any of the other steps that these kids go through. I can't imagine asking her to keep visiting schools after she had her mind made up.
He said a lot in this interview, but it seemed like I kept hearing, "Hartline, Hartline, Hartline."
The reality is that Hartline could well be gone by early in the kid's college career. The way he's going, he'll get opportunities to be OC in 2-3 years, but not necessarily at tOSU.
You'd think so, right? I just read an LV Bunkley-Shelton writeup, though, in which Bunkley-Shelton says that Hartline, "doesn’t want to be a head coach, he loves coaching receivers and loves it at Ohio State." I'm pretty sure that he doesn't know Hartline well enough to be that authoritative, but it must be something that Hartline is expressing to his recruits. The funny thing is that, though the article was about LVBS's overall recruitment, it read at times like a Hartline writeup.
I really just wish he had said "Penn State is not elite, even coach Franklin said so, and Ohio State is elite". That would have been epic.
Set in stone? OK. As long as he's not 110%.
Music to my ears. I love every word. Loved his extreme talent from day one but I think he's a great guy to build the program and develop even further. Hoping we keep going in this direction. Quality people with great skills.
The way he's handled the whole process is respectful and mature. I'm excited to have him come into the S&G and contribute right away with Wilson, Olave and Co. We've got a hellva WR room and if all else holds the QB play should be fantastic as well.
