At minimum, adding Mr Lachey would make it easier on a certain OSU Football radio announcer!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!
Can you imagine if he goes to another Big10 school? Awkward!
I'd rather be a minute early than an hour early, 'cause I like to procrastinate.
Why we go National for a TE is confusing me. We have PLENTY of talent every year in Ohio at a position that doesn’t require 5 or 4 star talent to be successful. Look at Iowa’s 2 TEs taken in R1 of the NFL draft. 1 was a walk-on, the other a 3-star get out of Nebraska. Shame on OSU for NOT offering Lachey and letting a program like LSU beat them to the punch. Get these kids that WANT to be a Buckeye in the fold and let Mick do his magic.

Uh, for the record, T.J. Hockenson was not a walk-on. He was a solid 3-star, while Noah Fant was borderline 4-star.

I wish we'd just pull the trigger on Lachey right now. Iowa wants him... if he goes to Iowa it's almost inevitable that one day he will make us regret not taking him. But before any of that happens Wilson and Day need to make an effort to use Ruckert this year.
So you don’t want to go after THE BEST options?? Seriously
Ideally, I'd like to see 55-65% of our team made up of Ohio's very best football players, which would then be supplemented by out-of-state players (hopefully mostly from Big Ten territory). The State of Ohio has the 5th largest number of players in the NFL, and only about 40% of those came from Ohio State. We need to work harder to get these players to Ohio State. We can do this and still keep our Blue Chip ratio in the top ten.
“Ideally, I'd like to see 55-65% of our team made up of Ohio's”
If we have that % of Ohio kids, that would put us in Michigan St company. We’d play for the BIG every other year or third year and keep us out of the playoff conversation with the exception of every 4-5 years.
Osu won a National championship several years ago with ~70% of the starters from Ohio.
Those two at Iowa are used and had over 80 catches between them.
Hope they offer Lachey. Hate seeing legacies go elsewhere

Only if they are good enough
Another mobile blocker..... Looking forward to a new offensive threat that's actually thrown to. Our new HC will show his unaltered style this season. Hopefully more passes to the TE fits into our attack.
Lackey is putting up some fantastic times on the track this spring, the kid can run. His athletic profile and bloodlines make for a fantastic fit.
I’ve seen that he’s run a 23.84 200m, 50.92 400m and high jumped 6-2. I wouldn’t call those fantastic (the 200m and 400m aren’t in the top 100 times in the state) but they’re not bad. It’s good to see he’s competing, working on getting faster, which is the best way to get faster.
I would say a 50.92 400 for a 6 6, 215 pounder is a very good time, especially for a projected TE. Elite Zac Harrison speed? No, but excellent nonetheless.
You're right, Zach Harrison is an elite athlete, which is why I didn't bring him up--it wouldn't have been fair. But I stand by my position that Lachey's best times aren't bad but they're far from fantastic or excellent. And as I said, what I like is that he's competing for his school and working on getting faster.
So cool seeing a kid getting recruited out of my old highschool Grandview Heights - when i went there 20 years ago we were lucky to win 1 game all season!
Explain Andrew why you think we will take two when we have 4 coming back in 2020 (Farrell, Hausmann, Ruckert, Hamilton)? We sure as hell are not going to have 6 TE's on scholarship when 85 /22 plus specialists don't even get 4 per position.
Because one or both will redshirt
Doesn't matter if one or both will redshirt. See math example above.
Bottomline, while I hate having to commit two scholarships to a position that's so rarely used, but it seems obvious we need a couple TEs.
Shouldn’t we let Cormontae Hamilton arrive on campus before we decide what his future is?
Mtrotb- we need two TE’s regardless of this so called math example.
We sure as hell don't need them landing at Iowa, Wisconsin (finally a QB) or the school up north.
I didn’t even read the article. We have TEs??!
I love tight ends!
Hamilton is said to have great hands which makes me think they might throw to the te's and really not the size you look for at that position. Hausmann I wouldn't be surprised he left tomorrow if he wants to play. Other wise he might be playing out the string like some do and get a education here with football not in his plans. Once D. Clark left I knew Caden was history and I heard he is a nice talent. For Lachey I hope we don't take him because of old dad. I want to win not please parents. Either way in all of this I wouldn't come here to play just to block and have the talent to play on Sunday so te is not easy to fill not a joke btw.
Hausmann will be a 4th year player and is on course to graduate in December. He won’t be here in 2020. And Farrell is a 4th year player as well and on schedule to graduate and he may opt for the Draft next spring.
