On a side note, kinda sucks for the two guys who were planning to start at tackle for Princeton this year. Someone just lost their job lol
You think that's bad, imagine being the last kid cut from the team in favor of a fuckin dog in Air Bud.
When I walked in this morning and saw the flag was at half mast I thought, "Alright, another bureaucrat ate it." but then I saw it was Li'l Sebastian. Half mast is too high. Show some damn respect.
They won 3 games last season, I don't think anyone on the team outside of Thomas and Henry have their position locked down.
"The Edge is where average stops and elite begins"
Actually they were pretty damn good. They had to forfeit a bunch of games because their AD messed up the eligibility for a lot of kids, football and other sports.
As a Princeton alum and former football player I appreciate the clarification.
Started the season 3-1 before a player was found ineligible. Forfeited the 3 early season wins which means they should have finished 6-4 playing in one of the toughest conferences in the state.
The pain of discipline or the pain of regret, take your pick
I know at least one of the forfeited games came against a playoff team, Lakota East. Also having coached and taught high schoolers for nearly a decade, I can almost guarantee they lost some down the stretch they shouldn't have once the season was torpedoed by the forfeits. The sad part is, from everything I've heard, it was neither the players or coaches fault.
I came to nitpick with the idea that they play in one of the state's best conferences (I would say it's outside the top 5), but I saw one of their forfeited games was a trouncing of a consistently strong Colerain team. It's pretty impressive.
Still, as a St. X grad, it's tough to see an X student take an easier academic path. I get that this is probably best for his likely profession, though.
No offense who cares about anyone else these days it's all about me me me
Yeah, but another kid at St X just moved up the ladder.
Life sucks and then you die.
OH-IO living BACK IN COLUMBUS after 32 years in the ATL.
God! I got scared for a second!! Can only be good news.
Oh great, now he can go to Georgia sooner /s
It’s not Fairfield and Clemson, so...
Princeton better win more than 3 games this year!
Obviously academics are less important than football
I always tell people I graduated from Princeton, where the n stands for knowledge.
" It's real good whatcha done Anthony, real good ! "
I have no problem with the education I received there.
I don’t have one either, it’s just a funny joke based on the reputation of Princeton. When I tell people about the large number of electives we were offered, the fact that the school would pay for your AP exam if you took an AP course and explained it was one of the few schools around to offer an IB program people are often surprised. They’re usually surprised because I’ve also seen some one stabbed and more than a few people get tased, amongst other things, while there.
Reasonable high school experiences lol
This made me laugh.
Ohio, the greatest state in the Union!
I can assure you it was the Glendale kids who were the bad seeds and not the Lincoln Heights students
Them darn Glendale kids always causing trouble! (This coming from a Lincoln Heights student)
One of my friends left St. X for Princeton when we were sophomores. He ended up signing with UK and got drafted by Sacramento. Big PJ will do just fine.
I don’t see it.
Grew up with Erik D.
+1 up vote for dropping knowledge
Education is important, but football is importanter.
Ignorance isn't bliss for the rest of us.
“We ain’t come here to play school!!”
Same is true @ the collegiate level. The players have just figured out to work the system, just as the system has been working them, under the guise of them being student athletes!
While maybe some of us have different perspectives today, for the majority of us, we went to school to get a good job. If St X doesn’t allow early graduation, they’re preventing him from starting that trek.
Martin- what’s being able to graduate early have anything to do with importance of education?
This will set him up to nicely to compete for a starting OT spot for the '20 season.
I wonder how he will be able to play. Don't you have to sit a year if you transfer?
Not if Princeton is his district school. St X is private
That St. X tuition is no joke. I’m sure his parents are quietly happy about not paying that bill.
I’m wondering how this is going to work as well. I coach (a different sport) at a private school and we have a kid transferring in who will be on our team. We looked extensively at the new ohsaa rules and it says a player who transfers can play the first 50% of the regular season and must miss the entire second half of the season (as well as the post season). The intent is to prevent athletically motivated transfers. If the person didn’t play the sport at their previous school they can play all year (but that’s irrelevant because Paris played football). Im sure he and his family knows all of this, I wonder if they are just ok with playing half the year or if they found a loop hole.
emotionally exhausted and morally bankrupt
There are 11 exceptions to the transfer eligibility. Exception 9 "One time transfer back into the student's residential district" is likely the one being used here. Any student can transfer from a private school to their residential public school without eligibility issues if it is before the school year.
Thanks, I looked it up afterwards. I previously had always looked at it through the private school side so I was unfamiliar with the one time transfer to the residential public school. Truthfully didn’t realize Princeton was that close to St X, but makes sense that it would be his residential public school and that he’d be granted the exemption.
Great news all around.
Johnson has the opportunity to graduate early, and begin play with his future teammates...and football programs that are recruiting the trio can now "one stop shop", so to speak.
He’s going to a 3 win team? Ouch! I’d stay at X, which seems to have a far better team and academics. I get that he’s just trying to enroll in college early, but he’s not going to start as a freshman anyway, whether that’s at OSU, Clemson, LSU or any top tier team.
Didn't Michael Jordan start as a true freshman? Also, we're all assuming his commitment sticks. If these three truly want to play together next year, he may be eyeing early playing time somewhere other than OSU. Just a thought.
This is all about getting to OSU earlier to better prepare for the NFL. I respect how St X wants their students there all 4 years; however, I also believe that exceptions can be granted, and I believe an exception can be granted to a Top 10 overall football recruit.
Slip slidin away...slip slidin away...you know the nearer your destination the more you're slip slidin away...
Paris I think would of mentioned he is re opening his recruitment if he wasn't coming here? Since I been out of school since 1967 what do you have to do to graduate early and wouldn't the rules apply at all schools? One thing I see Paris is not a team player leaving his mates in the dust. Then again it's all about me and the next level is all about the NFL too. I wonder if they want to be drafted as a trio too.
Private schools like St. X often have more rigorous graduation requirements than the State minimums and early exits are not allowed.
It's not just private it's a Catholic school, hence in the GCL, the main issue is he has to have 4 religion credits, 1 earned each year which means he HAS to stay for 4 years, same reason Adolphus Washington transferred from Roger Bacon to Taft before his Senior season
Just curious can you take religion in the summer?
Just feels wrong here. Hope I’m the one that’s wrong...
You win with people.
The sad part is that St X only accepts about 400 kids a year out of approx.1500 applicants. He basically took a spot from someone that actually wanted to graduate from there. Fuck Paris Johnson
Feed the trolls
Marty isnt exactly known for intelligent or rational takes. More like flaming loaded baby diapers.

I actually value a person's character, something that you obviously don't. But then again you were educated in SE Ohio, which isn't known for it's educational prowess. SE Ohio is basically an extension of W Va.
But then again you were educated in SE Ohio, which isn't known for it's educational prowess. SE Ohio is basically an extension of W Va.
It just sounds like your some elitist snob with issues.
That statement was unnecessary. SE Ohio and WV, two places where I have lived, have great schools and people! You might want to tone down your elitist mindset. I would have downvoted you if I had more helmet stickers!
Dont worry, Ive downvoted Marty enough to cover everyone. I got your back.
Do you actually have a job or do you still live in mama's basement? You hijack almost each and every thread.
You must not read this forum much. I live in Cincy and I can't recall how many posts I've read that Cincy residents are nothing more than hillbillies from KY.
Both sides of my family are from SE Ohio. I truly do not understand your ugly disdain for the people from that part of the state. Some of the most upstanding and intelligent people I have ever met were proud to call that area their home.
Please tell us about the advantages of your character, education and achievements. I’ll wait.
Send the Earth Reverberating
Still waiting Martin. Please share your superior qualities so that we may all learn from you.
I resent that.

A lot of people on here seem to only consider Cincinnati as part of Ohio when a recruit is coming from a Cincinnati school... other than that it’s all but your airport is in Kentucky so you’re Kentucky.
My airport was in Blue Ash ... but they sold the land to raise money for the "streetcar to nowhere"
Martin! Hi there. St. X grad here. Please don't speak on behalf of my alma mater. Ever. Sorry to see Paris go, but Princeton is actually pretty solid academically, and the kid has a future in football, so good for him.
Oh the irony of implying you have intellectual superiority while simultaneously being grammatically incorrect. I’d recommend you learn the difference between its and it’s....
You just can’t fix stupid.
Marty is also a racist day drinker. Don't leave that out.
There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with day drinking. As long as you don't drive.
Really? Did your kid not get accepted there or something? It also opens another spot for someone else, doesn't it?
Tell that to the kid that wasn't accepted 3 years ago
I guess that kid should reapply every year.
Your comment makes no sense
Fuck Paris Johnson
Really? It's not like he knew when he enrolled as a freshman that he would have a chance to enroll at OSU or any major school early. I attended a very similar HS in Louisville and while I didn't hang with the football players, I believe most students would be supportive.
Goddamn, bro. You're awfully pissed off about something that quite literally doesn't concern you. Bad day today?
This isn’t new for him.
Well, a spot just opened up for somebody then.
My coworker decided last July to send his son to St. X because he liked the academics. I didn't think his son had much of a shot because it was so late in the process, but he sailed right in.
And no, I don't think my coworker's son is going to play LT for them. If the son is anything like his old man he's 5-2, 98 lbs, and a borderline genius.
Nice little trio. Anyone know why they were 3-7 last year? Really tough division or...
Princeton football hasn't been very good since Pat Mancuso was their head coach and that was when Gerry Faust (former ND head coach) was at Moeller
Martin is a day drinker because Pat Mancuso's son took his spot on the waiting list.
They started the year 3-1 but had to forfeit the three wins for playing three ineligible players due to an error by an employee.
WTF wouldn't do the same thing. Graduate early so you can enroll early in college and increase your chances of playing time or starting in college.
Hell I suppose everyone is pissed at Martel, Burrows, Baldwin, etc for doing exactly the same thing only in college.
If he's smart enough to get through St. X, then he's smart enough to graduate early at Princeton or just about any other school in the state.
I don't go to many high school games, but a few years ago I went to a St X-St I matchup with a lot of alums from either school (this Rocket man went to a tiny little public HS out in the hinterlands, and I have great memories).
Anyway I was very impressed. Got there early enough to see all the warmups and it was like watching a couple of small college schools.
