I love that TTUN highlights their players by showing them getting beaten on by ours. Free advertising by your rival!

Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.

It seems like marketing overcame common sense in that the ttun website had to show its man Gary along side one of the players getting the most pre-draft publicity...damn the rivalry.

Should have read the article on fatbergs on an empty stomach. I’m also super pissed my adult flushable wet wipes don’t disintegrate. I’ve once again fallen victim to false marketing claims. I should just go back to single ply.

Every spray to your bootyhole will transport you to a relaxing spa experience in the comfort of your own bathroom. Our TUSHY Spa releases warm or cool clean water on your bum like a cleansing hug, but your toilet must be next to your sink to access the heat.

I don’t know NB, sounds like more marketing to me. A cleansing hug does sound nice though, sign me up.

I wasn't a believer until I stayed in a hotel in Bahrain equipped with a bidet in every guest bathroom. Figured I'd try it out, just to see. "When in Rome" and all that.  Big fan. Never been cleaner.

Everybody sharing the same butthole water fountain sounds pretty gross to me.

But sharing the same toilet, shower, mattress, and pillow is all cool.

I wholeheartedly concur.

Having to get a couple hemorrhoids lanced recently convinced me that this is one aspect of hygiene where American exceptionalism isn’t. Bidet > warm shower > tp.

I though hemorrhoids were from straining, not cleanliness. Just need a poop stool.

That's correct, which is why I no longer do squats or leg presses or read on the crapper.  After that outpatient surgery, doctor's orders were a warm shower after doing the deed (and sitz baths 3x/day).  My other recommendation - if you are over 50, give yourself the gift of Metamucil.  One heaping teaspoon in eight ounces of water 3x/day has changed my life for the better in several ways.

I have had my problems over the years, including surgery. Two words. Witch Hazel. Had I found out this miracle substance years ago...I would have saved myself a lot of pain and money....I've tried everything mentioned here and many more that are not. Throw away all that stuff and get a $5 bottle and I'll be around to hear the thanks : )

Once again, Father knows best. Mr Haskins Jr will be drafted is a given.  Got to believe he will do well as a pro.  With any luck, the fit will be a good one for him, and he will excell!

Hopefully that is true for every Buckeye drafted!!!

The link to the dark story about an old friend is most definitely a dark and sad one. Read that and it may well make sure that you never randomly search for someone you have not seen in years.

Haskins and family shouldn’t be overly concerned with where Dwayne will be drafted. It isn’t like they have any control over anything-especially at this late date. Take it as it comes has to be the best way to go about things this week for them.

Its been 2705 days since Ichigan last put up a W against The Ohio State University.

So in their defense, it would be hard to find some good photos of their players doing anything great.

Good to read Dwayne Sr and the Haskins family aren't too worked up about the draft.

It's too much hype. At this point I'm ready for the damn thing to be done and over with.

Dwayne Jr will be fine.

I love watching michigan own themselves. And Rashan Gary getting a 9 on the wonderlic might be my favorite thing of the day. Although I must say, its a lot harder than I expected it to be. I used the link and took it and got a 25. And I think I only got halfway through it before I ran out of time.

HS
85ThruTheHeart's picture

I thought this was well. Some of those scores are really impressive, regardless of whether they actually translate to football success. I took it and Didn’t realize there was a time constraint but got a 30 on the next try. I wonder how many tries they get as one of the scores is listed as a retest. Also, I’m sure there are different strategies to help your score like to just skip long, detailed questions so that you can get as many of the easy ones as possible within the limit. Although I’d love for it not to be the case, I wonder if Gary just spent a lot of time making sure he was getting it right and ran out of time rather than being inept.

MichiBuck12's picture

I took it a second time as well and got 41 the second time around and was able to finish it. I basically phoned in the ones where it wants you to unscramble the words and went best guess on some of the longer math ones. I'm not sure the players all get the benefit of a retest, but they do know in advance that they will be taking it so they can prepare for it. Just going two times through it definitely seems like its more about strategy than anything else.

HS
85ThruTheHeart's picture

Agreed. I took it again using strategy and having a timer for reference and got a 42. Different ballgame if you’re prepared. Gary just may not have been.

HS
MichiBuck12's picture

And perhaps thats the point of the test. As mentioned below, Gary has fought a learning disability his whole life and that would certainly make this test difficult. But perhaps they give this test because they want to see who will prepare. As you and I found, its not a difficult test if you're prepared, but it is very difficult if you aren't. Learning disabilities not withstanding of course.

Rashan Gary has struggled with dyslexia. I don't know this for a fact as i'm obviously not tied to the program but it's been brought up in the past.

1. I wish Michael Jordan had stayed another year. Then he could have put his griffonage on a large first or second round signing bonus check.

I think some of the fascination with the Wonderlic scores are a sour grapes mentality. “Look how dumb some of these football players are”. Yeah, football players will never be confused with astrophysicists. Duh. Like fishing in a barrel.

It’s a data point. From what I see with Haskins and his presnap reads, progressions, and general football IQ, not to mention how well spoken he is, I put him up there with any of those guys in football intelligence.

HS
Zimmy07's picture

Wonderlic scores may be as useful a metric as would be Bill Gate’s & Warren Buffet’s bench press numbers.

If you’re not smart enough to play QB at a high level, you’re not making it off the bench in college.

HS
HARDDRIVE's picture

I agree. It's only possible usefulness may be in helping determine how fast these players can mentally process what's happening on the field. However, I'd venture to guess at this point, that most players have seen enough reps that they instinctually know how to react. Even if they do have a really high score, it still takes athletic ability and refinement to actually make the correct play. Haskins sure seemed to have plenty of ability deciding correctly where to go with the ball.

HS
Kevin Harrish's picture

Yup. That’s exactly it. It’s a way to build yourself up by comparing yourself positively against them in something that has nothing to do with their potential success. That’s all it is.

Dumb football players have been highlighted at least since Columbus icon James Thurber was humorously writing about them in the 1930s. Check out this classic story from his college days at Ohio State.

I just don’t get the Rashan Gary hype. The guy did nothing, ever, against the Buckeyes and yet we are told he is going to be the next NFL superstar... with some having him rated above Bosa? If you have never taken the Wonderlic, do yourself a favor and find it online. Then explain how someone can score a 9? (Yes, there have been Buckeyes with similar scores.) I wonder in what courses Gary matriculated Italian scUM? IMHO, he is not only dumb, but also he lacks the drive needed to be a good player.

HS
iowabuckeyes's picture

Actually, to be both honest and fair, according to his MGoBlue bio, some of Gary’s best stats were against Ohio State in 2017.

CAREER HIGHS

• Tackles: 11 - Ohio State, 2017
• Solos: 5 - Michigan State, 2017
• Asst: 7 - Ohio State, 2017
• TFLs: 2.5 - (3x) last at Ohio State, 2017
• Sacks: 2 - Ohio State, 2017

I tried the Wonderlic once. I don’t recall my score but I don’t think I did very well.

HS
AZ Buckeye13's picture

Wouldn't put much into the 2017 numbers for Gary against Ohio State (although the website I checked out had him with 5 tackles and 5 assists, 2 sacks). He should have had a lot of tackles because JT ran the ball a lot and usually ran to Gary's side of the field (left side of our line). Not to mention that Barrett hurt his knee in pregame warmups, helping Gary's ability to track him down. We always seem to run the read option to our left.

I think that Gary will be another Nkemdiche.

HS
MichiBuck12's picture

There is a link to it in that section of the skully, for those that want to take the wonderlic. I took and must say that it is much more difficult than I expected it to be. I ran out of time and didn't even get close to finishing. The questions are not that difficult, but the point is to answer them quickly. If you can't do basic math quickly in your head, you're gonna have a tough time. Having said all that, a 9 is ridiculously low.

HS
MGOBLUE0205's picture

He has struggled with dyslexia, something that he has spoken about but hasn't been reported. As far as his career at Michigan, I would say he had a decent career if he was a 3 star, but when you come in with a 5 star rating and as much hoopla as he had, you can't have less than 10 career sacks.

HS
NavyBuckeye91's picture

Read the story on fatbergs and remembered an incident on USS George Washington (aircraft carrier) from the 90's. It was shortly after we integrated crews. A buddy's brother worked in Engineering, and they had to cut out a rather large valve in the wastewater system that was completely clogged and immovable.  It was just down stream from the one of the large female berthing compartments. Of course they were terrified of what they might find. Turned out to be a giant, super ball of congealed condoms gumming up the works.

Glad that everyone was practicing safe sex, but don't throw those used skins in the toilet, folks. It takes decades for latex to deteriorate.

Maybe Rashan was just trying to catch up to Dwayne to tell him: "We about to get his ass".  Isn't that what he said when when Haskins came into the game in AA and led Ohio State to a come from behind victory?

On the other hand, maybe he's just chasing after him to ask him for the correct answers to the wonderlic test questions?  I mean, poor Rashan only has his 'superior Michigan education' to fall back on.

HS
NorCal Buckeye's picture

Not to ruin the "Ha, I'm smarter than the overhyped Michigan Man" parade, but as TheBadOwl pointed out in the forum post yesterday, test takers with learning disabilities perform poorly on tests like the Wonderlic, and it is not an accurate measure of their intelligence. Gary has worked hard to overcome his challenge in the classroom and has been an Academic All American.

HS
MichiBuck12's picture

After taking it, it definitely makes sense that a learning disability would cause super poor performance. If you don't read well, or if you're the type of person that has to read things multiple times to really comprehend them, you're gonna be screwed because of the time limit. And thats not really an indicator of whether a person is smart or not. I know a guy that has to read everything 3 times before he understands it. He would do terrible on this test. And if he was judged on his wonderlic score, people would think hes an idiot. But the guy started his own engineering and manufacturing company, built it from the ground up and is now a millionaire.

HS

I really do think that if you're going to snark on players' low Wonderlic scores, you might want to at least take care that you've spelled everything in your post correctly.

It's remarkable how overly defensive Harbaugh is about Rashan Gary's draft stock falling. His stock is falling for a reason since his production at scUM speaks for itself and now he appears to still have not recovered from last year's injury after sitting out the bowl game specifically to rehab it. Any team taking him early in the first round would be taking a significant leap of faith at this point with the understanding that he may not even be ready to play in his rookie season.

As for as Jordan goes he'll be an asset to any team specifically drafting him to play either guard position. Just don't play him at center (since he clearly wasn't comfortable at that position last year).

11 Strong.
