Paris Johnson is taking all sorts of visits and Georgia is very much in the picture here, but we've still got him ending up in Columbus.
I very much believe what Jaheim Thomas and Darrion Henry end up doing will affect Johnson's final decision.
That’s WAY overrated
That may be so but the three of them have openly said they want to play at the same program together. Johnson is already committed to OSU but at the same time is still exploring other schools. Henry and Thomas are not committed yet. I wouldn't be shocked if their decisions influence his decision.
Thanks for the info Andrew.
Any Punters or Kickers in this class? Asking for Coach T.
For all of the hullaballoo about the quarterback transfers and lack of depth now in the QB room, I am most concerned about recruiting. The above list is impressive, if that is how it turns out, so my concern may be unfounded. However it seems to me that the nightly "Hurry Up" has been highlighting lower rated recruits as of late and verbal commitments of our "targets" to places other than here.
I understand your concern, but you also have to take into account that the Hurry Up is a daily article. There's only so much to report every day, so I believe the writer has to reach for content. That often includes less heralded guys we haven't already read about 100 times, as well as guys that OSU had some ties to that ended up elsewhere. I don't personally take this to mean we should be concerned, but rather that there simply isn't always a new development with guys like Milton, Rosemy, etc worth writing about.
For all the hand-wringing about our recruitment this year, we have an excellent chance at landing a top 4 class.
"I don't think you necessarily have to get a trophy to be a winner." - Nick Saban 1/2/15.
Hand wringers whine and wring their hands-it's in their nature-common sense, changing circumstances, and the reality of sports be damned.
Honestly, we are going from possibly a top 3 recruiting coach.. of all time... to now having someone that has never recruited as head coach in their life. I don't think it's crazy to think that we might see a bit of a drop off.
When it comes to recruiting, we know there are few things that really get kids to sign on the line which is dotted.
1. Relationships (First year head coach, tough to have multiple year relationships already built up)
2. Team Success (Ohio State has cooled a bit nationally since 2014 after winning the title. Also a new HC with no track record to speak of)
3. Position Coaches (I think we have some of the best in the business, but we also have a lot of new faces)
4. Opportunity to Play Early (Ohio State is pretty loaded at the moment after several top 10 classes in a row)
5. Program Prestige (We are still The Ohio State University, so take that for what it is)
Everything considered, it makes perfect sense that until this coaching staff proves themselves working together and we get back in the playoffs, it's kind of tough to expect a top 5 class.
That being said, everything I see above looks pretty damn good.
I think Julian Fleming and Paris Johnson's recruitments are kind of similar in a way. I don't really think anyone knows where they'll end up, but untill we know we'll try to remain optimistic.
That WR group is NUTS!
I'm for sure looking forward to the defensive preview. They have to get a solid haul of cornerbacks, I'd say no less than four.
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
Agreed Eddie. Of course what will go a LONG way to keeping that group performing like they should is giving the QB time to process and shoot - aka a STUD at left tackle....

I very well could have missed something in the past month or so, but what's with the change in thinking with Rakim Jarrett and Fleming? Seems like 2~ months ago the sentiment was reversed, we were predicting Jarrett to be in the class and Fleming to be making his way to PSU
Not AE, but it seems Fleming has cooled on PSU. I don't think we've necessarily lost ground with Jarrett; he simply is all over the place.
he simply is all over the place.
Literally. He's probably been racking up some serious frequent flyer miles and hotel points lately.
Fields of Dreams
Get the vibe that Fleming is the PA WR version of Jackson Carmen (better hair, not big on flapjacks), with everyone in his neck of the woods insisti...telling him he belongs in State College.
We'll see what shakes out, but man would he be a catch for Day, Hartline, and company.
I'm not around that much, running exhausted and lost...
If I could give Fleming any life advice, I'd say 'don't make a college decision based on a girlfriend....'
But you are not 17 years old
I appreciate all of the responses here! Definitely makes more sense
I like that you still have us landing Atteberry for a Guard spot. I haven't heard a lot mentioned about him lately. I did see that Birm had a video interview recently with Geirean Hatchett and he indicated that his relationship with the OSU staff is very strong.
I hope we can end up with one of these dudes.
*One to watch: Cincinnati's Evan Prater
Maybe before his brother left. I can see the two of them going someplace together.

For crying out loud. His brother was a walk on who wasn’t going to see the field
Do you really expect him to see the field either? It's rude to say, but he'd be a depth take and probably knows that. If I'm in his shoes and really want to play, then a lower tier school seems like a real option as well as playing with my brother
Those who say they can and those who say they can't are both right. Which one are you?

We should never, ever recruit a TE again. Just get another OT and give a TE number. I feel bad for Ruckert.....
