She sure does. Lots of great little moments this week. Was very glad for that one which answered what Sam was going to do with Heartsbane.

Bit soap-opera-ish with all the reunions. But that hour went way too quick.

I do not think the Night King is going to die in the next episode. It would be half way through the season. I can see him losing some of his generals and them regrouping to kill him maybe in episode 4. Think episode 5 and 6 will be the aftermath and dealing with Cersi.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

So Arya’s weapon is a staff with dragon glass blades on it? I was expecting more.

Jorah getting Heartsbane was the call.

Enjoyed seeing Brienne getting knighted by Jaime.

I’m thinking Jaime doesn’t survive this battle.

Daenerys starts taking the path of her father and then comes back a bit (with Tyrion, Sansa). The crypts seen made it seem like she only cares about the iron throne, but will she come back from the ledge?

Speaking of couples. What’s up with Sansa and Theon?

HS
stubbzzz's picture

I don’t think there’s anything to that, but I wouldn’t be bummed if there was.  I just think they bonded over all the Ramsey abuse, and she’s the one who ultimately got Theon to snap out of it and come back to life.   Every time Theon does something to redeem himself, I tear up a little.  That’s one of the most powerful storylines for me.

I doubt it happens, but I want Sansa to end up marrying Pod.  She deserves a good (and gentle) dude, after Joffrey and Ramsey.  Also, they say he has a magic wang.   is this what shipping is? Am I a shipper now?  Uggh this show has turned me into a teenaged girl....  haha ... crap.

HS

Pod may have a gentle voice but in bed he apparently is blessed beyond belief. I think it may take a bit of time before that's gentle for her....

Just the crypts? Dany was the only one I was pissed at by the end of the episode. In her defense she's just had her whole identity crushed since she's not actually the heir to the Iron Throne any more. Although she was already being a bit of tyrant.

You've got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

HS
Jumar's picture

Although she was already being a bit of tyrant.

She is going that direction. However, with so many misdirections of GoT, it would be surprising if she stayed on that path.

I think they are going to put her in the position of having to save Snow. Knowing if she does, she loses the throne.

HS

I think so as well.

I feel like the dragons settle it...and Dany doesn't make it.

She should've realized Jon Snow was Targaryen...the son of her brother, riding the dragon name for her brother/his father.

Hove, I'm with you.  I thought I saw Dany's death in her face at the end.  Her whole world just got devastated right before battle.  Usually not a good sign.  The thought came to me then that she might be the first to buy the farm.

A lot of speculation she will become the Night King's queen...

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

HS
stubbzzz's picture

Yeah I was frustrated with that scene too.  Like I get that they’re trying to set up drama and uncertainty so the big battle has more story to it than just the action.   But it was too quickly rushed and ended too abruptly.  I just wanted Jon to say that he doesn’t care about the Throne, like he’s already said a million times.   Unless he does care, now that he knows who he really is?

HS
elitesmithie's picture

Easy to not care about the throne when you aren't in line for it. Might be different when it is "yours".

HS
Frimmel's picture

I think Jon is a sort of a one problem at a time kind of guy. Who rules at Winterfell or in King's Landing isn't important right now. Getting it together to fight The Night King is important right now. There aren't any other problems if they don't solve The Night King.

You've got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

HS
logamaniac's picture

Yeah I don’t think Jon is pining for the throne but ever since Sam got into his head about Danny I think he’s being cautious around her, feeling out her intentions more than anything.  I think he’d like to not have to take the throne but he’s also not going to allow another mad king scenario if he feels she might not be a good choice for the people.

HS
BBQ_Fan's picture

I was thinking that maybe Arya would take the face of Bran to lure the Night King for the kill, but I'm guessing the NK is too smart for that.

HS
JohnnyKozmo's picture

Wouldn’t Bran have to be dead for that?

You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton

HS
Frimmel's picture

Bran would need to be dead for Arya to take his face. Also I don't think that would work since I don't think Arya would then become The Three Eyed Raven.

The Night King can see Bran when Bran is trying to watch The Night King with his Raven Powers. Bran can send up a flare to draw in The Night King pretty easily.

You've got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

HS

So the NK cant see Bran all the time, only when he’s watching the NK?

You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton

HS
Frimmel's picture

Maybe? I think we've only ever seen him seeing Bran when he was looking at him. As noted seems like the Night King probably just knows where the Three-Eyed Raven is.

You've got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

HS
Jumar's picture

The Night King can see Bran when Bran is trying to watch The Night King with his Raven Powers. Bran can send up a flare to draw in The Night King pretty easily.

Bran said his mark from the NK is basically a GPS for the NK. I don't think he needs to send up a flare.

That’s what I thought too.  Once he was touched during one of his flashback/forward things, that tipped the scales towards the NK.

You've probably got the right of it. Although to be nit-picky knowing where Bran is and Bran going, "Come at me Bro" are a little different.

HS
BBQ_Fan's picture

Bran would need to be dead for Arya to take his face.

Yeah forgot about that.  I'm still thinking that she and Bran are working on something not being shared with the everyone.

HS
TX_Buckeye's picture

So it seems to me that if the NK is just chasing the Bran GPS, why not just put Bran on the fastest ship to the furthest reach of Essos?

HS
logamaniac's picture

Disappointed that it doesn’t seem like we will see the Reeds any more in this series.  Especially after Danny’s balk at Sam and bran being the only two supporting jon’s claim.

Fully expect some zombie crypt action next week considering how much time they spent telling us it’s the safest spot in winterfel.

HS
NavyBuckeye91's picture

I think the Reeds show up again. Maybe after the battle of Winterfell, maybe during. Maybe Howland hits the Night King's army from the rear - that's kind of his MO.

"You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, & in the manner in which you live.
So, live. Live. Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you. "
- Stuart Scott

HS
Frimmel's picture

We only "need" the Reeds if both Jon and Dany make it through the coming battle. And then we only need Howland if Dany and Jon can't sort the entire thing out between them. If Jon doesn't give a toss, and doesn't make a claim it won't matter. Also at this point Dany or Jon or Dany and Jon will need to take the Iron Throne from Cersei who isn't a popular monarch. They won't need the Reeds to vouch for Jon with the rest of the realm since they'll be glad to see Cersei gone.

It is kind of funny. Cersei wants to do what Roberet didn't want to be bothered with holding court and dispensing favors and bossing folks around but she's chased all of them away. Euron showed up and there wasn't any court at court. Just the Queen's Guard, Clyburn, and some men at arms.

You've got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

Theon and Jamie are goners. Do not think Arya is though. Her story arc is still climbing and it would be a massive disappointment to see her go. She was trained by the faceless men for a reason. Things in GoT don't happen by accident.

HS
NavyBuckeye91's picture

Going down that rabbit hole, if Jaime dies, does Arya harvest his face, go to King's Landing with The Hound, and use it to kill Cersei? Arya crosses the most important name off her list, the Hound gets to battle The Mountain, and Cersei's younger twin kills her.

Night King is going to raise all the dead Starks from the crypts. This allows them to drive out everyone to the open outside the castle.

Still think Bran knows what is going to happen. Could see him taking control of the night king somehow.

People who aren't going to make it IMO: Edd, Theon, Gendry, Gilly, Jorah, Grey Worm, Beric, Jamie (sacrifices himself for someone else to redeem himself). Think the hound survives because he has to kill the mountain at some point.

I do know that this battle took like 55 days to film.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

HS
Frimmel's picture

The thing with the dead Starks and a battle in the crypt that is bothering me is they haven't shown any bones or such like will often be shown in the style of catacomb/crypt they have at Winterfell. We've only seen stone coffins. The wight they took to King's Landing couldn't get out of the box they had it in. I'm not seeing how the dead Starks are getting out of their stone coffins. If there is some other way into the Stark crypt, sure we can have a mess down there.

But from what they've shown us it doesn't feel "fair" for the wight of Lyanna Stark to get out of her coffin to tear apart Gilly or Varys or Missandei or something.

You've got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

HS
actionstanleyjackson's picture

I just keep going back to Dany saying to Jon "The dead are already here"...something is going to happen in the crypts. And if the stone crypts get opened up...could see them.

They have spent a lot of time the first 2 episodes in the crypt, looking at all the stone coffins....saying how safe it is down there. Feel like they are setting something up with that.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

HS
Frimmel's picture

I feel like they're setting us up too. I mean they added the crypts to the opening credits afterall. They just seem to have left out some important information thus far.

Agree. I do think that the Night King was a Stark before the Children of the Forest got a hold of him. I just do not hope we see the tired old Dany turns on Jon in battle plot line.

HS
logamaniac's picture

It’s possible the NK knows about the crypt passages as well if he was around when they were built and truly is a stark.

However devious he is though we haven’t really seen him as a tactician, mostly just overwhelm with force.

We also don’t know the limits of raising the dead, is it only recently dead bodies?  Otherwise he’s got entire wars of corpses to raise in winterfel going back to both robs rebellions and earlier.

HS
Brandon26841's picture

Yeah. Whether it's the White Walker's / Night King raising the dead in the crypts or the wights using the secret passages to ambush the people hiding out down there... one or the other is going to happen. They literally mentioned how safe the crypts were 6 times. Everyone down there will probably be slaughtered. It's going to have a Red Wedding feel to it IMO, and Dany's comments to Jon ("the dead are already here!") were probably related. I'm pretty sure Varys is shown in the trailer looking scared shitless in the crypts... all hell is about to break loose down there.

I mentioned the "Night King is instead going to head down to King's Landing first to build his army even stronger before heading up to Winterfell" theory in the last thread, and I did notice the Night King was nowhere to be found when the army of the dead was shown cresting the hill. Maybe that's because they want to wait for the shot of him swooping down on his ice dragon dramatically next episode, but maybe he's not even there as the theory said? I mean... it seems the main (and only) strategy is to bait the NK with Bran... do we really think he's going to show up and fall for that?

HS
JohnnyKozmo's picture

Remember, in the teaser for the season, Jon, Arya, and Sansa are down in the crypts when a cold/freezing fog slowly comes towards them.  Not sure what episode that’s going to show in as it wasn’t in the preview for this next episode.

My guess for Ep 3...

-Crypts are going to be ground zero for whatever happens. Destroy Winterfell from within

-Secondary characters killed...Jamie. Jorah, Benic, Theon, Grey Worm, etc.

-Whatever is left of the living regroups to the Iron Islands

-Walkers make their way to King's Landing where the living makes their last stand.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

HS
JohnnyKozmo's picture

Only problem with the living losing this battle is I think someone mentioned in the 1st episode thread that Martin has said this story doesn’t end in a Zombie apocalypse...if the living lose the battle, the army of the dead only gets larger.  Obviously, the retreat to the Iron Islands has already been set up, but there’s only 3 episodes left after Sunday. Is there time to wrap up a retreat and still defeat the army of the dead and Cersei?

The last 4 episodes are the longest. Cannot see them beating the NK in just one battle. Would sell him short. They went out of their way to bring the Iron Islands back into play. Has to do with be a safe house.

My guess is Ep. 4 is them licking wounds, coming up with new strategy on the Iron Islands as the Walkers move closer to Kings Landing. Golden Company has to be used at some point and I do not see Cersi vs the rest of the living battle because there will be no other army left.

Ep 5 would be the battle for Kings landing with Ep 6 being the aftermath.

Ok so Episode3 the north gets their ass kicked and retreats to the islands

No idea on how the Cersei, Jon, Dani thing resolves especially since the Dragons would listen to either Dani or Jon

With all of the talk about the north never accepting a southern ruler again, what about Jon taking the throne when all is said and done? Jon doesn't want it, but could take it out of duty and honor (similar to Ned becoming the hand). Sam becomes archmaester, Davos somehow makes it to the end and becomes hand to Jon. No idea if Dani would make it or die in the battle with NK. Hopefully Cersei is taken out by Arya.

If you continue to think what you always thought, you will continue to get what you always got. #AlumforStaff

HS
JohnnyKozmo's picture

Again...the issue with the NK rolling through victories is his army gets exponentially larger while everyone else’s gets smaller. I dont know how you can write that out of the plot when after every battle we’ve seen involving the army of the dead, the NK has raised either humans or a dragon.

You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton

HS
elitesmithie's picture

Well to be fair Cersei is sitting on 20,000 Mercs. I know its hard to extrapolate exact data from what they show but I think its safe to say they have a larger combined army, dragons aside, then the North as of now.

HS
JohnnyKozmo's picture

That may well be...but how many dead does the NK currently have.  Looks like more than 20k based on the the map of the battle they were using to plan. Let’s say the north has 10k...if they lose 7-8k in battle before retreating, that goes to the NK, so even if he loses half his army, he still gets reinforcements, not to mention every village on his march to Kings Landing.

You're too stupid to have a good time. -Dalton

HS
TX_Buckeye's picture

In the final episode of last season, Dany said she had seen the army of the dead and Jaime asked her how many.  She replied "more than One Hundred Thousand"   The North has 8000 unsullied and 16000 Dothraki (minus any that were killed in battles like the Loot Train and Casterly Rock).   Plus they have what is left of all of the northern banners (except for the Glovers who are being whiney bitches and not helping).   So 30K is probably a good guess.   Maybe a few more.   Typically an entrenched defending force can hold off a much larger attacking force.  But I suppose it is different when the attacking force is the living dead.   Plus they have dead giants, a dead dragon and who knows what other creatures.

HS

The north only has what they brought with them from Dragonstone. Considering that Dragonstone is literally built on a mountain of dragonglass it's safe to say the south has a much larger stockpile, provided they know to use it.

HS
BigTom's picture

Oh ok, Makes sense.  Prob why the general consensus is the only way to win is kill NK.  Perhaps what i remembered is when a walker is killed his minions are destroyed.  Think jon did that before they got surrounded.   So yeah, my orig post was wrong.

Snow stabbed the wight they took to King's Landing with dragonglass and it just died. The Hound lopped off the wight's arm and Jon set the severed limb on fire then Jon stabbed the rest of the wight with dragonglass and killed it.

At Hardhome Snow shattered a White Walker with Longclaw but was not blowing up the wights with it.

In the episode where the dragon is killed the wights were not shattering when hit with either Longclaw or dragonglass.

When Sam killed the White Walker with dragonglass it evaporated after a moment of torment. Armor on either the White Walkers or the wights seems to offer protection from dragonglass. You've got to get it in them. In the episode where Hodor goes down we see that with Meera and the Children of The Forest in the cave.

OK,  so I think in episode 3 everyone retreats to the iron islands where they find Iron man, because Duh. He protects them. Captain America, Ant man, and Thor go back in time where Thor Stormbreaker's the Night King's chest open before he can kill the dragon.

Jon & Dany — Either of them surviving to sit on the iron throne would have been too straight forward. It only makes sense for both of them to die. We knew this beforehand. However, Jon dying beside dragon in Kings Landing and Dany on childbirth seems like the turn of events these characters needed. Also, gives Jon the last chance to meet Arya.

All other characters are linked to their fitting end and sequences are created just the way for them to weave together.

The theory that the Night King is heading to Kings Landing is making a hell of a lot of sense to me.

If not, our heroes either win or lose it all in episode 3 and the existential threat from the opening minutes of the series is done with three episodes to go.  Doubt it.

The end run by the night king keeps three factions going for longer.

That said, if the night king and his dragon aren't there, what stops Dani and her dragons from roasting the white walkers all lined up in a neat row for straffing and 'killing' the entire army of the dead?

HS
Brandon26841's picture

It looked like every single white walker (since when has there been so many? It looked like there were hundreds) was holding a spear, the same ones the Night King used to take down Viserion. Now I'm not sure if all white walkers are naturally just amazing, pin point accurate javelin throwers like the ol' Night King apparently is, but I'm sure it won't be as easy as simply having the dragons light up the army of the dead.

Much better to have spent an entire episode as the night before the climatic battle with nearly every character in the story we give a toss about facing their last night on the world and then not have the climatic battle in the next episode so you can keep three factions going longer. But that seems predicated on our heroes 'winning' the coming episode.  I think that in and of itself is a big reach.  Sure, they aren't going to catastrophically lose (everyone dead), but I don't think they win this one as much as some of them survive in some fashion.  I think there are more twists to the story than you have laid out, and I doubt the final episode has more than a few minutes of happily ever after.

Two episodes with every character left in the story except six (Cersei, Bronn, Frankenmountain, Clyburn, Euron, Yara) gathering in Winterfell-- Jon Snow, Ghost, Sansa, Bran, Arya, Theon, Dany, Jorah, Missandei, Greyworm, Drogon, Rhaegal, Tyrion, Jaimie, Brienne, Pod, Sam, Gilly, Baby Sam, Ed, Tormund, Davos, Lyanna Mormont, Varys, Gendry, Dondarion, The Hound, The Unsullied, The Dothraki, The White Walkers, and The Army of the Dead. But this is a diversion? Some of them might show up or still have a part to play (Meera most likely with Mel next) but it feels like a stretch. Diversion meaning that the NK's true goal is to take King's Landing .Go back to the scene of Dany's dream when she is in the throne room and it is snowing...almost destroyed. Winter had fallen onto King's Landing.

Think the White Walkers can handle Winterfell without him. NK hasn't even engaged other than riding the electric dragon. Also, if he is there and he gets killed most of the White Walkers die with him. Massive risk for the NK. NK can sit back and have his army destroy Winterfell with or without him there.

There is absolutely no chance that this is wrapped up in one episode and NK is killed in Winterfell. That is too easy.  There has to be more to it or it will be disappointing.

I will be shocked if there is some epic showdown in Winterfell with the NK and his dies at Winterfell. That would be doing a disservice to the NK to be defeated in the third episode with three to go. This is going to bleed into the next 2 IMO.

There has to be some mechanism that pulls the folks from Kings Landing into the fight. Having them sit around waiting to fight what's left of the rest of man would be really predictable. Plus who are they going to fight?

Not saying the NK fights this on two fronts but I can certainly see it happening.

Not a chance in hell, we had no less than 6 references to the crypts being the "safest place" in all of Winterfell in just this episode alone. Some big stuff is gonna happen down there.

Besides, we're well beyond the books at this point and the HBO writers haven't shown themselves to be anywhere nearly as sophisticated as the MCU when forced to dance on their own.

Winterfell with all the dragon glass and V-steel and dragons is the one place he is vulnerable.

The first white walker was created when a man tied to a Weirwood tree was stabbed with dragonglass. Bran and company are going to try and bait The Night King into Winterfell's Godswood where there is a Weirwood tree.

Maybe that mark on Bran goes both ways and The Night King has to go after The Three-Eyed Raven? The Night King didn't really march south until he'd killed the Three-eyed Raven and the new one Bran got dragged to The Wall. Maybe The Night King can't be further south than The Three-Eyed Raven?

The Night King has been gradually moving south this whole time, he didn't go past the wall until he had the means to destroy it.

Maybe The Night King can't be further south than The Three-Eyed Raven?

If "putting his mark" on Bran would somehow constrain his (The Night King) movements, I doubt he would have done it. I think his mark acts like a tracking device, nothing more.

I can accept, "I don't think The Night King will be defeated in episode three."

I will not abide the idea that it is because he just didn't show up for the fight and decided to take on King's Landing all on his own. Our heroes win and drive him off and he makes a run for King's Landing maybe. But that The Night King just bypasses Winterfell  to take on King's Landing on his own so he can march back to Winterfell seems a patently ridiculous idea.

A thousand years and he's just going to leave two dragons, The Three-Eyed Raven, three armies, and the largest stronghold in the North to subordinates in order take on 20,000 men on his own?

You've got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight.

I agree, if he goes to kings landing there’s zero chance Cersei escapes which means there’s no ultimate showdown between her and a little brother.

Also, if he was going to kings landing why would he send any of his force to winterfel at all?  Even if he was bypassing he’s got the army of the living holed up and unlikely to strike at any of his force just walking by if he’s really got his focus on kings landing.

Theres also zero reason given in 7+ seasons that he would give any fucks about the golden company.

Because he can fly and the rest of his army can't? I mean it took his army at least entire episode (probably much longer) just to make the trip from Lasthearth to Winterfell

Even if he was bypassing he’s got the army of the living holed up and unlikely to strike at any of his force just walking by if he’s really got his focus on kings landing.

An incredibly slow army on the move is a great target of opportunity, no way Winterfell let's them just walk-on by.

Theres also zero reason given in 7+ seasons that he would give any fucks about the golden company.

Nothing special about the golden company per se, other than just 20,000 of super easy-to-acquire recruits to add to his ranks. For all we know his ice dragon's "blue fire" is able to turn people into instant-wights

Yes, but the HBO writers love them some patently ridiculous ideas:

  • Dorne / Sandsnakes
  • Littlefinger's death - he's too smart to fall into such a trap
  • Let's go capture a wight!
    • Gendry's ability tap into the Speedforce for Flash-like speed to run back to Eastwatch and send ravens asking help (might as well had him run all the way back to Dragonstone)
    • Giving Dany's dragons Warpdrive-like speed for the flight from Dragonstone to Somewhere North of The Wall
    • Wights that can't swim but are perfectly capable of deep-sea salvage operations

Sandsnakes

 Not ridiculous...

And Wights that can't swim are just anchors...they can go down and wrap some rope (now that's ridiculous...where'd they get that much high tensile rope) around a dead dragon to be pulled up by their buddies.

In all honesty...she may make my top 10 just trying to think back.  Fake Sansa from the play when Arya was supposed to kill her I believe is right at the top for me I think.

Actually think what is left of the living ends up being driven out to the Iron Islands. Not saying you are wrong...but this show can be unpredictable. I think we all want an epic showdown in front of the tree between the NK and Jon. I just don't think we are going to get it. I think the NK is too smart to be baited to the tree. That is an obvious trap and if he falls for it, that is lazy writing. There is going to be some sort of twist or turn to keep us watching the next 3 weeks. I certainly don't want three weeks of extended episodes where it is just man v man again. Something has to unite the 7 realms.

And I do think this lasts into at least episode five. The living will fail and have to regroup and try again. But at some point the Golden Company is going to have to come into play. They have spent too much time on that storyline to have them sit idle as the show ends.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

I'm with you in thinking there's no way this is all wrapped up with the Night King actually taking the Bran bait. But the preview of the next episode did show both Theon and Jon fighting something in front of the Godswood, so something does seem to go down there.

HS
actionstanleyjackson's picture

Sure...that could be something we haven't seen. Could be a Stark walker resurrected...could be a general of the NK...I just think their plan working as planned would be pretty low bar for this show.

Stay golden, Ponyboy.

HS
Brandon26841's picture

There's basically a zero percent chance their plan works. But maybe this was done intentionally by Bran?

There should be some surprises coming our way, and it would honestly be disappointing if they didn't.

HS
logamaniac's picture

the only surprise we won't have is that SOMEONE dies.  we literally have no idea who or how many but we know they're going to start dropping like flies.  so the who is the surprise.

since the NK's real motivations are unknown besides wanting to kill everything you can't be surprised by anything he does unless he starts talking in Westerosi or Dothraki and wants peace.

I bet he's heading to Dragonstone for some more of that "healing" green dragonglass

maybe they go with some sort of arthas'esque storyline.  maybe there always has to be a night king so upon killing the NK someone has to sacrifice themselves to the north to "reset" again.

basically turning someone into Bolvar Fordragon.  google it my nerds, straight out of Blizzard.

I'm just trying to figure out how they create a really big, memorable ending.

I really enjoy GOT, but the details of all the threads and houses and politics and deaths and vendettas get me confused when I'm away from the show for a while.  I can always understand whats going on when I'm watching an episode, and know how we got there, but ask me what happened in S3 and I have no answer.

So, to top this off as one of the best shows ever, it needs a crazy finale.  If it ends like one of these two, I will be really happy -

Sopranos - I loved the ending.  It was so unexpected it was unbelievable.  It was divisive - my wife hated it lots of others hate it.  Either way, it was the most memorable ending to a series I know of.

Rouge One - A great finish to an otherwise mediocre movie.  It was all in, no sequels, no happy ending.  It was actually very GOT-like, if you think about it.  Kill'em all, even the good guys.

I'm not hoping they use one of these actual endings, but please create a great, controversial finale to keep us talking about it for a long time.

Worst finales of shows I liked- Seinfeld (Montage), Mad Med(Corny), Entourage(Can't even remember what they did)

How about this for an unexpected finish? End the show on episode 5, not on episode 6.  It's very unexpected, and it leaves the audience wanting more.  It's the best way to walk off stage!

Anyone thinking GoT is going to end on any kind of happy note is kidding themselves. I suspect its going to be absolutely awful, hence why the ratings will be bonkers.

Early seasons i would have agreed.  Later seasons they dialed it WAY back and im not so sure any more.  Guessing as it gained more popularity and they out ran the books it became much more hollywoodish.   I dont think it wil be nearly as bad as what we became used to early on.

that said, i hope you are right.

HS

I dont know man, they began the final season with a child being staked to a wall with the severed limbs of his subjects.

Agree with the Sopranos ending.  It was awesome in a cutting edge shocking way, just like what it was portraying happening.

At the other end of the spectrum was the Justified ending.  Just an emotionally satisfying ending

I'm trying not to project expectations for what is going to happen.  I prefer to just immerse myself in the story and see what happens.  All I know, is that E2 is setting us all up for some emotional devistation.

Anyone in a GoT character Death Pool at work like I am? LOL

My money is on Podrick as the first to go. I originally picked Theon dying protecting Bran but listening to Podrick sing that song and the scene where Brienne says Podrick isnt good enough as a fighter made me think he's the first to go.

We have a family pool from Facebook.  it gave us a list of characters and we had to predict live or die for all of them.  Plus, First to Die, last to Die and Who gets the Throne.

First to Die:  Tormund (Thought it was going to happen week 1)

last to Die:  Jon Snow

Iron Throne:  Tyrion
