How stoked would the bengals be to see Haskins sitting there when they pick? If they don’t take him there’s no chance they don’t bate a team into moving up to get him. Win win
Urban Meyer left an incredible legacy. 12/4/18 Ryan Day begins his.
I know how stoked I would be and I can only hope the Bengals would be as well.
Urban Meyer >Jim Harbaugh for ever and ever, Amen. 0
Would take some savvy on their part, but worst case scenario is they draft Dwayne Haskins, best case scenario is they trick some team into giving up the farm to come and get him. Just don't screw it up by drafting Devin Bush instead.
I would love the move, but as it was so eloquently stated in the Skully, it would only be for me. I don’t wish the Bengals on any player I actually like. Between Mike Brown’s horrible management of the franchise in general and the vocal minority of Cincinnatians who despise all things Ohio State, it would be horrible for him.
Too many dumb NFL management personnel.
I’d love to see him close to home in Cincinnati with me whenever, you know, Andy (Dalton) decides to hang it up. But it’s going to be great. He’s going to be a very good player.”
There is also the fact that Dalton can't hold the proverbial jock of Haskins.
There is also the fact that Dalton can’t hold the proverbial jock of Haskins
Dalton is an established NFL quarterback, Haskins is a one year college starter who isn’t even drafted yet. That comment is asinine.
Dalton is an established AVERAGE NFL quarterback. FTFY
But you're right, people need to relax on the Haskins hype. He has great potential, but until he does something great in the NFL, most of this talk is premature.
That being said, you can make your point without telling a fellow 11Wer their comment is asinine. His comment is over-hyped and early, not asinine.
“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint enough to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt
Dalton sucks and is the starter for a suck ass franchise in a shitty city.
Sounds like someone is a little salty. Please show me on the doll where Dalton hurt you.
I cannot believe that I spent 5-10 minutes reading a Sasquatch story. I would like to believe in Bigfoot, Nessie, and some of the other seemingly far-fetched ideas of our time, but somehow a calling contest set in New York State just makes that very difficult for me to believe.
I would love for the draft to be here already, as I have had about enough of the prognosticators guessing just like the rest of us. Haskins needs to end up somewhere that will let him grow into being the starting qb, which would help his transition immensely methinks. If that is in Cincinnati so be it.

Is it possible the Bengals could achieve greatness again without the man that originated the team? They were pretty good for awhile, not so much in recent or not so recent history.
Who was the really good first year quarterback from UC, Greg something IIRC? Unfortunately he got seriously injured and was never the same. Likely thought of that because I'd hate for Mr Haskins to meet any curse the Bengals appear to have!
But hard not to believe they would much better if they had drafted more Buckeyes!
Beat everyone, in every sport, all the time!!!

Greg Stofa, Sam Wyche, Virgil Carter, and Ken Anderson were other early Bengals quarterbacks.

I dated Greg Cook's niece for a while in high school. I played football against Greg Stofa's son (Jeff) and with Sam Wyche's son (Zack). I wish I had dated Wyche's daughter but the stars were not aligned. And those are most of my brushes with greatness :)

I'm optimistic about next years basketbucks too, but #4? That seems way too high.
And as a Browns fan, I really don't want to see Haskins go to someone in the division.
All of this, Michibuck. Totally in sync with your two takes.
Fields of Dreams
I had to laugh at the article earlier this week about Buckeyes forgiving Mayfield for “planting” the flag in the Shoe now that he’s leading Ohio’s pro football “revival” because it ignores the fact that a good number of Buckeye fans are not Browns fans. No matter what Mayfield does in Cleveburg, Buckeye-Bengals fans will always have two reasons to cheer against him; Haskins on the Bengals, though, would make it tough for Buckeye-Browns fans to cheer against him unless they want to see the best quarterback in Ohio State history fail.
That article made me chuckle too because I don't think the majority of us were of the belief that he needed forgiven. I may be giving our fan base too much credit here, but I'd like to think that overall we are above the ridiculous notion that beating us fair and square 50% of the time is some sort of sin. And trying to plant a flag in a turf field is dumb but I'd like to think we, as a fan base aren't so petty that we hold a grudge over something like that. If michigan does that shit, sure. But Baker and Oklahoma were and still are inconsequential to us as Buckeye fans.
Well...color me petty. Just got back from Mexico and the guy across the aisle in the flight down was wearing a Browns hat so I strike up a conversation. Goes w/o saying I was wearing Scarlet and Gray. Anywho...we talked about the draft, the players, etc. And although I said BM is a classless punk, he’s just what the Browns needed. But he’s still a little bitch. As I’ve pointed out, I’m a Bears fan but my brothers and I grew up w the Kosar family - playing sports, etc. My wife and Bernie’s sister are best friends to this day. And beyond that my Dad and Father in law both lived and died w the Browns.
As far as Forgiveness, it’s for the person “giving” it. Either way, when you’re a bitch like BM, you don’t care if you’re forgiven.
"Three things can happen when you pass the ball, and two of them are bad." - Woody
I just dont get the mentality that I should just like players cause they play for my team. I didn't like Lebron when he was on the cavs, and I'll never like BM
don't have to like him, just don't pull for him to fail

You are definitely giving our fanbase too much credit.
Haskins on the Bengals, though, would make it tough for Buckeye-Browns fans to cheer against him
Nope, not at all. I won't be rooting for his personal failure or anything, but I will have no problem cheering against the Bengals.
Nice work Blue Jackets.
I checked in on the game while making dinner and saw the jackets get a highsticking penalty down one in the 3rd & figures they were doomed. I was kind of shocked they won when I saw the score later (shorthanded goal to boot)
They played the greatest 3rd period in the history of the franchise
Agreed, Ib. Once Savvy scored, it felt like they were gonna win it. Even after we got the 4 minute minor. Gutsy win, and one that hopefully gives them the momentum to get over that series hump. If they play like they did in the 2nd and 3rd last night, I don't know that there's a team that can beat them.
I can’t stand the accelerated use of the word “ass”. Call me old school, but that’s just the way I am. Nice article, but I really don’t care where Haskins goes. Just go.
More like black & white TV, amirite?
I'm not up on Google algorithms, does putting the word ass in apostrophes decelerate it?

All Glory is Fleeting
Putting the hoops guys at 4 is ludicrous. Kaleb is fishing, but he will be back. But still not a solid big oriented guy to spell him in a brutal conference.
On the one hand I can see it: solid coach who’s overachieved with a ragtag lineup with nearly a full roster back and three good freshmen coming in. I’d honestly put MSU and Michigan ahead of Ohio State and possibly Wisconsin—ironically, Micah Potter giving the Badgers frontcourt depth could be the difference maker; Holtmann’s loss is Greg Gard’s gain—and maybe even Iowa, which has almost everyone back. The odd choice is #7 Memphis, which didn’t make the March Madness field but has the country’s #1 overall recruit coming in. ESPN has Memphis 24th.
Just do not know. Probably Carton is actually better than recruiting sites say. They say he is the 28th best. I do not see Potter leaving as anything sffecting this teams potential next year. Kyle Young, Alonzo Gaffney more than negate his absence.
I should've phrased it better. Potter going to Wisconsin has little to do with next years team success. Carton is probably a bonafide top 15 recruit, as opposed to top 30 recruit. And if Holtmann hits a homerun in the grad transfer area, whether a "bonafide bruiser" in the post, or a solid versatile wing, then anything could happen. Like I said, if Gaffney developes good, and Potter was still here, he'd end up transferring again.
But he wouldn’t be playing against us and that’s my point. I don’t see him leaving as any kind of addition by subtraction because we still have his spot to fill and unless it’s another post who can given us 6-7 points, four rebounds and four fouls a game—which equates to four less fouls for our other bigs—we’re still undersized and short-handed in the post.
I was a fan of the Bengals since childhood, however after the last few years I’m growing away from them (Due to many reasons). I love my Buckeyes and really don’t know how I feel about Haskins possibly landing in Cinci. I fear the incompetence of the organization may ruin what bright future he has.
Although I also think there is more to the story as to why Schiano resigned, I also agree with Belichek that it isn't unprecedented. I would worry more if my DC was voted the most valuable coordinator in all of college football only to immediatly retire?Looking @ you JoePa! Perfect example of "unprecedented".
MICHIGAN STILL SUCKS
Of course it is no big deal to Belichick. He resigned as coach of the Jets after one day!
I own a roomba. You’d have to be one of the dumbest people on earth to think that sound is a person.
"I spent 90 percent of my money on women and drink. The rest I wasted." - George Best
Here’s a funny story written by a man who set his Roomba to run at night but forgot to let his dog out for his late night poop. The guy was woken up when his three year old son crawled into bed with him smelling like shit and when he got up, found his whole house was covered in dog shit..
The Oregon police making light of a potential killer robot obviously have not read the saga of Stabby the Space Roomba.

That was an amazing CBJ comeback. Tortorella's locker room speech is a worthy post
Alcohol will not solve any of your problems, but then again, neither will milk or water.
As a Browns fan I would be heartbroken and terrified to see Haskins go to the Bengals. Please, no...
Kevin-that coach that is forthcoming as a piece of lumber is the best coach ever in football. BTW who is your team??
I didn’t say it was a bad thing. It clearly works for him.
Not sure about the best, except at cheating/skirting the rules. Belicheat, like Brady, will never be tops in my opinion because of all the cheating scandals. And the real kicker is that Kraft has denied that Spygate ever happened! So, since we are keeping track at this juncture, Kraft has 6 Super Bowl rings and one prostitution ring, right???
1. Looking forward to watching the Buckeyes gambol in Ohio Stadium Saturday. Latest forecast is 66 and cloudy.
2. If those pre-season rankings hold up, you are looking at Virginia-MSU and Duke-OSU match ups in the B1G-ACC Challenge. However, the fact Virginia, Duke, and MSU all played on the road last season would complicate things. Regardless, OSU will draw a tough road opponent.
3. The photo of the black hole is amazing. A black whole would be nothing.
Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
A black whole would be nothing.
Maybe it’s me but wouldn’t a black whole be everything?
Much like the Transfer Portal?

CBJ, catching lightning in a bottle....
ONE Not Done!
I'm all for Haskins in Cincy, as long as they groom him for the position..don't just throw him to the wolves..draft some offensive linemen in this year's draft, next year's draft, sign some free agents (food ones), bolster up that offensive line..2-3 years down the road, he should turn them around!
I think it really could be a solid plan because they do have dalton for another year, so Haskins wouldn’t have to play right away. And I think that seems to be team’s biggest hesitations with him. They’re not sure he can play immediately.
Draft Haskins, extend Dalton to another year or 2 while rebuilding that offensive line, and then handit off to Haskins...build the team around Haskins while Dalton remains qb through the duration of his contract..when Haskins is ready, bye bye Andy..
That should be *good...not food.. SMH
Make sure yall go see my movie https://t.co/OrVO3oRIdz

The Giants can make the wrong choice at #6, Simba don't care
Mixed feelings about Haskins in Cincy. Would love to see him lead them to first super bowl win but don't want to see him ruined either. Groom him behind Dalton on a game by game basis. Dalton plays when it is dry, warm, and no wind. Haskins plays if the temperature is below 75, the wind speed is more than 2 mph, and humidity is 0.

The wakeboarding on Mirror Lake was way cool. However water sports in the hollow are nothing new. I can personally attest that "submarine races" occurred as early as fall quarter 1968.

I have it on a good source (my father) that "submarine races" were occurring as early as fall quarter 1951.
I first heard the term from my parents, who were probably classmates of your father. I had no idea what they were talking about at the time. My child-brain couldn't figure out how in the heck submarines ended up in the Olentangy.
My aim, then, is to whip the Weasels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom. - William Tecumseh Sherman (with apologies)
I was told they were called submarine races they had fast seamen...
Maybe Urban should get the Bluejackets tattoo.
All I'mma say is this. If the consensus is that Carson Palmer was so good and had a shotgun arm then I say Haskins is better. Give me Haskins led Bengals team over a Palmer led team. Just my humble opinion!

I will repeat what I wrote weeks ago before there was not even a whisper about Haskins being a Bengal. It is a perfect fit for both teams.. For Dwayne, he would have the opportunity to learn the ropes from a veteran quarterback whose contract is due up real soon. And I definitely believe that the Bengals will not resign him. For the money--driven Bengals, they averaged 20,000 empty seats last year for every game. They need a spark to bring folks back to the stadium. Dwayne could be that spark. And for the fans, how about a long time renewal of a once great, great rivalry between the Mayfield-led Browns and the Haskins-led Bengals? In my opinion this is a win-win-win situation for Haskins, the Bengals, and the fans. It seems so logical to me. And that is the scary part---how often have the Bengals done the logical thing?
Who Dey Bitch!

I cannot predict where Haskins will land, but I do feel that the chip on his shoulder will motivate him for years to come. I just hope he ends up in a stable situation where his talents can be used well.

Huge props to those kids clever enough to find a way to wakeboard on Mirror Lake.
I can't say that I've been in a canoe or boat on Mirror Lake, but I have been on a raft in Mirror Lake.
